You’re listening to American Ground Radio with Louis R. Avallone and Stephen Parr. This is the full show for June 3, 2026. We open with the numbers behind Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill that the media isn't telling you — 96% of taxpayers receiving a tax cut earned less than $200,000 a year, 70% earned less than $100,000, and households between $50,000 and $100,000 received an average reduction of over $815. We dig into what those numbers actually represent — 29 million filers claiming no tax on overtime, 7.5 million claiming no tax on tips, 35 million seniors claiming the enhanced senior deduction, 40 million families claiming the enhanced child tax credit, and 127 million taxpayers claiming the doubled standard deduction. We also explain why a tax code is more than a collection of rates — it's a statement about what a government chooses to encourage, and when you tax work and savings and punish overtime, you get less of all three. In our Top 3 Things You Need to Know, the U.S. Supreme Court issued an emergency ruling allowing Alabama to proceed with its congressional maps — overruling lower courts that had blocked the state from using the old map even after the Supreme Court itself had reversed its earlier ruling requiring minority-majority districts. Then longtime CBS News anchor Scott Pelley was fired after publicly confronting the new 60 Minutes executive producer at a staff meeting, calling him unqualified and accusing CBS News leadership of trying to kill the show — and refusing to make peace afterward. We note that anyone who refuses to acknowledge there has been a bias problem at CBS News is not capable of being part of fixing it. And Samsung announced it is moving its U.S. corporate headquarters from New Jersey to Plano, Texas — following ExxonMobil, which announced its own departure from New Jersey the week before. New Jersey has the highest corporate income tax rate in the country. Texas has zero. We also cover Colorado Governor Jared Polis signing a law requiring college and university health centers to stock and dispense abortion-inducing drugs — meaning one of the primary services a Colorado college campus must now provide is access to pills designed to end pregnancies. We ask what would happen if that same level of energy were directed toward helping pregnant students continue their education and carry their children to term. Our American Mama Teri Netterville joins the conversation on the California elections — where at the time of broadcast, Steve Hilton leads Xavier Becerra in the governor's race and Spencer Pratt trails Karen Bass in the Los Angeles mayor's race with about half the votes counted. We discuss why NBC was already telling viewers that mail-in ballots would push Pratt to third place before counting was even finished, why Brazil counted 124 million ballots in two hours while California is projecting 37 days for 10 million, and why the SAVE Act matters more after watching California's election unfold in real time. We also cover Democratic Congresswoman Camlager Dove shouting at Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a congressional hearing and then walking out before he could answer — and Rubio's perfectly measured response, which sounded remarkably like a man watching his wife leave the room mid-argument. We make the point that committee hearings have stopped being about answers and started being entirely about social media soundbites. In our Digging Deep segment, 1,100 STEM professors in California have written a letter begging the state to restore standardized testing after the University of California system dropped ACT and SAT requirements during the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020. The results are in — the number of college students whose math skills fall below high school level has increased nearly 30-fold, with 70% of those students performing below middle school level. Professors are being forced to reteach middle school algebra while simultaneously teaching college-level engineering and sciences. We explain why eliminating standards doesn't help minority students — it abandons them, and then blames the test for their unpreparedness rather than the system that failed to prepare them. We also cover a Breitbart roundtable discussion on America's greatest strategic advantage in the AI race against China — and the surprising conclusion that it isn't technology, military power, or economic strength. It's the human soul. Communism, by suppressing religion, individuality, and free will, has weakened the very thing that separates humans from machines. The founders protected that, and it still matters. For our Bright Spot, DHS Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen testified that the border wall is on track for completion from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of America by this time next year — with all contracts out by end of month, a secondary wall being added in high-traffic areas, and a smart wall system that deploys drones the moment sensors detect a breach. We call it exactly what it is — a promise made, a promise being kept. We also note that Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut is now saying that 77 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump are ignorant and uninformed. We respond briefly and move on. And we close with Leah Wilson, who heard crows cawing around a rain gutter, called the fire department, rescued an injured crow, and held its claw on the drive to the wildlife center. The crow recovered, was banded, and released. A couple of days later, while walking her dog, a crow dove down and dropped a bundle of feathers at her feet. Now they bring her gifts every day. May your pursuit of happiness bring you joy. Colorado Governor Jared Polis' decision to grant clemency to Tina Peters predictably blows up in his face. In a shocking move, Colorado Governor Jared Polis granted clemency to Brandon Kreutzer, a man who was convicted of a crime spree that included multiple burglaries, armed robbery, and a high-speed chase where he and his co-defendant took shots at police officers. One of the bullets hit a deputy's windshield, while the other struck the deputy, who miraculously survived. This episode delves into the details of Kreutzer's case and the governor's decision to commute his sentence. The District Attorney of the 23rd Judicial District, George Brauchler, joins the conversation to share his perspective on the matter. He explains that Kreutzer's co-defendant, received a 45-year sentence, while Kreutzer himself was given 50 years. Brauchler expresses his outrage over the governor's decision, citing several inaccuracies in the justification provided. Brauchler points out that the governor's office based their decision on incorrect information, including a claim that Maudy was six months younger than Kreutzer, which is actually true, but the implication that Maudy received a lighter sentence is false. He also highlights the governor's lack of understanding of the criminal justice system and the laws that govern it. Tune in to this episode to hear the full conversation and learn more about the complexities of the case and the governor's decision.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The industry is rapidly advancing, major breakthroughs are coming into view, and quantum could soon begin reshaping everyday life—just as artificial intelligence has in recent years. Ohio's Secretary of State defends giving the DOJ voter data, a preliminary military investigation finds it probably was the U.S. that struck an Iranian school and Colorado Governor Jared Polis considers clemency for convicted election denier Tina Peters.
David Waldman delivers us to the middle of the week, which is pretty good, considering the week so far. Greg Dworkin, a nice guy who can always be trusted, delivers a paradoxical raft o' stories out of ExTwitter, an awful place that can never be trusted. Yesterday, we had primary elections in Texas, North Carolina and Arkansas, the first elections of the 2026 midterm campaigns. Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico are both fantastic, but James Talarico will now be the fantastic Democratic candidate. Trump has to pick the winner from his losers. We won't have Dan Crenshaw to kick around anymore, but neither will Mike Johnson. Democratic voters in Texas were left to wander around, looking for their precinct which is just how Gops wanted it. For something that was designed to finally completely strangle Jeffrey Epstein, permanently rig democracy, and usher in the Millennial Kingdom of Christ on earth, this whole "Iran war" thing is becoming a little too complex for Donald K. Trump. Iran is breaking our expensive stuff, worrying our rich people and hardly being cooperative. (And killing some soldiers.) It is also very confusing because we are not at war with Iran, while they have been at war with us for decades… Everything is moving so fast! At least we got all the important people out. The few thousand in business class stranded there dumb enough to rely on the US to get them out can leave a message with details on how they would like their bodies to be IDed. Colorado Governor Jared Polis is probably going to taco (jaco? paco?) on Tina Peters' state prison time. The DOJ will lay off targeting law firms that Trump doesn't like… psyche! They're totally still targeting the law firms.

Our first guest is Alex Swoyer, editor-at-large at The Washington Times, where she covers law and politics in Washington. Alex also hosts "The Sitdown with Alex Swoyer" and writes the popular column "Seen, Heard & Whispered." She joins us to break down how House Republicans are currently outpacing Democrats as the midterms approach. While Republicans do not hold a lead in the Senate, they face the challenge of defending their majority while also working to pick up additional seats. Growing frustration among Democratic voters is beginning to show up in fundraising numbers, with money shifting away from the party amid a widening leadership vacuum. Alex also recently authored an article highlighting how Melania Trump has accomplished more in one year than Jill Biden did in four. Melania has focused her efforts on protecting children and working with international leaders to address global challenges, particularly the growing threat social media poses to young people. Her recent documentary underscores both the strength of her partnership with President Trump and the lasting impact of her work on behalf of American families. Next, Jon Fleischman joins us to discuss new polling from the Pew Research Center showing Donald Trump struggling with middle-of-the-road voters. Among all voters, Trump's approval stands at 37 percent, with disapproval at 61 percent. More notably, some of the decline is coming from within the Republican base itself—Republican approval has dropped to 67 percent, with 18 percent of GOP voters now saying Trump is headed in the wrong direction. Jon also explains one of the core challenges facing any president: the Constitution deliberately divides power across branches of government, meaning a president cannot immediately fix issues like interest rates or consumer prices. We also discuss how Trump-era policies are being implemented differently in red versus blue states. One key provision in the "Big Beautiful Bill" is an Education School Choice Scholarship program. Under the plan, taxpayers can direct up to $1,700 of their federal tax liability to a nonprofit that supports school choice, with that amount credited directly against their federal tax bill—creating a substantial new funding stream for school choice. Participation requires approval from a state's governor. So far, 27 states have signed on for the program beginning in 2027, including 25 states with Republican governors and one Democrat, Colorado Governor Jared Polis. Finally, Jessica Millan Patterson joins us to discuss how Governor Gavin Newsom continues to "fail up," remaining fixated on his presidential ambitions rather than governing California. The consequences of Newsom's leadership are increasingly being felt not just within California, but in neighboring states as well. From energy policy to environmental regulations, California's approach is often counterproductive undermining its own goals by restricting access to cleaner domestic natural resources. As Jessica lays out, Newsom has it wrong on: 1. Housing 2. Education 3. Crime 4. High-Speed Rail 5. Water

Colorado Governor Jared Polis is term-limited and rumor is he's got his eye on a run for president, but are his signature dorky online antics ready for the national stage? A bipartisan group of governors is sounding the alarm about Space Force leadership “aggressively pushing a plan” to move Air National Guard units to the Space Force without states' consent. While the move has not occurred, there are indications that the units will be shifted to the Space Force by the end of the year. Colorado Governor Jared Polis and Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt said that there has been “no formal notification to, coordination with, or consent obtained from the impacted states.” The statement revives a Biden-era fight over the future of Air National Guard space units and whether they can be moved to the active-duty Space Force without obtaining approval from state governors as required by law. Send us a Text Message. This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, WE DID IT Y'ALL! WE MADE IT ALL THE WAY TO EPISODE 200! The world is a mess and politics has sure gotten weird over the last two weeks but we made 200 episodes of a Colorado Politics podcast and you're still listening! Yes you! On this episode we'll look back at how far we've come, how far we still have to go, and interview one of our favorite guests, Colorado Governor Jared Polis.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis is more pro-freedom than many politicians. He's a rare democrate who talks about economic freedom and individual liberty. But I have problems with some things Polis believes. He wants to force businesses to provide services for gay weddings. He signed universal pre-k, and Colorado lags in school choice. Polis is also unusual because most Democrats won't debate ideas with me. He will.
Rundown - Shad Murib - 08:19 Troubadour Dave Gunders - 01:36:50 "If God Was Watching" by Dave Gunders - 01:53:53 Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's Speech - 01:57:52 Find out why Colorado Dems elected this dynamic leader. Murib grew up in Littleton, Colorado, the son of Arab Lebanese immigrants. Murib learned valuable life lessons growing up in his south Denver suburb, especially when his sibling announced as a lesbian. Murib is a proud progressive. As a Democratic stalwart with talent, Shad Murib has worked for and with Senator John Hickenlooper, Colorado AG Phil Weiser and Colorado Governor Jared Polis. He's married to former State Senator Kerry Donovan and they were married by their friend and political colleague, State Senator Dylan Roberts. We find out about the Copper Bar Ranch that Shad and Kerry own and run high up in Edwards, Colorado. They raise Scottish Highland cattle and wait till you hear the taste described, especially the tenderloin. Stress-free ethical slaughter makes the taste difference. Hear it explained at the end. https://www.thecopperbarranch.com/ This name-dropping episode features further mentions of Colorado's top elected officials with a special shout-out to Rep. Jason Crow and Senator Michael Bennet for their dedication to trying to protect freedom in Ukraine. The host and guest salute the performance of President Biden too, standing up to Putin, Trump and the GOP. Colorado Republican Chair Dave Williams gets discussed, including his taunts at his party chair counterpart. When MAGA goes low, Shad Murib responds with winning policies, strategies and powerful responses. The process in the Colorado CD4 special election necessitated by Rep. Ken Buck's resignation is thoroughly explained. Murib intends for Democrats to be competitive in every part of Colorado including CD5. What will the impact be of Trump's endorsements of Boebert (CD4) and Dave “Let's Go Brandon” Williams in CD5? The connections of Putin to Trump to MAGA-GOQP gets reviewed with Murib worried about fascism. Shad Murib goes on Fox News and will debate any semi-honest broker, but we discuss how far gone Twitter (X) is now with Elon Musk platforming the likes of Alex Jones. Modern media get discussed as do conflicts amongst Dems at the Colorado Capitol. DA races are partisan in Colorado as are Sheriff races. Dems need to compete smarter and harder especially with disingenuous MAGA law enforcers refusing to enforce gun laws like Red Flag which they do not like. Local races are big, but the huge political issue is Trump v the rest of us. Dems must lead us now. https://www.coloradodems.org/ Troubadour Dave Gunders provides a lively conversation about the NYC trial delay. He also loved the SOU by POTUS. His song, If G-d was Watching is aimed at MAGA-GOP-type hypocrites who make money off of Big Lies like Big Con Don, the MAGA-GOQP nominee. https://soundcloud.com/dave-gunders/7-if-god-was-watching The Craig Silverman Show - Every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Colorado time

Our friends at City Cast Salt Lake picked this fight, and we're finally hashing it out. Can Salt Lake City really stack up to the Mile High when it's only situated at a paltry 4,265 feet above sea level? Who has better transit, anyway? And what is with SLC's cookie obsession? Host Bree Davies is joined by producer Paul Karolyi plus a couple of special guests — City Cast Salt Lake's host Ali Vallarta and producer Emily Means — to dig into the myths and facts, and determine once and for all whether we're really rival cities — or just regional siblings who like to argue. Bree mentioned Colorado Governor Jared Polis and Utah Governor Spencer Cox's recent plea for Americans to "disagree better." Ricardo Baca is a 20-year veteran journalist and cannabis futurist, widely respected in both modern media and drug-policy circles. He was appointed The Denver Post's first-ever cannabis editor in 2013 and founded the news vertical The Cannabist, where he extensively covered the advent of the U.S. adult-use cannabis market and related issues around the world, as seen in the feature documentary Rolling Papers. We talk to Ricardo about the intersection of cannabis and psychedelics based on his observations attending the 2023 Psychedelic Science Conference in Denver. We also talk about the positive media coverage from the likes of Rolling Stone and Vice about the event and how that compares to the critical coverage cannabis gets. We also discuss the paths of legalization with psychedelics getting leverage by needing only FDA approval for each treatment while cannabis needs policymakers. We also discuss Ricardo's appointment as a board member to the Natural Medicine Advisory Board in Colorado under the leadership of Colorado Governor Jared Polis.
