On Take the Stage, presented by Haley Marketing, we bring you the BEST speakers, coaches, trainers, and strategic partners from across the staffing and recruiting industry every other week. More than your standard interview, each conversation is built off of a specific session or topic these industry thought leaders bring to conferences and audiences around the country. KEY MOMENTS Technology has made recruiters lazy and caused them to rely too heavily on job boards and technology for candidate sourcing. Recruiters need to balance using technology as a tool and maintaining the human element of recruiting. The fundamentals of a great recruiter include building relationships, effective communication, curiosity, and a focus on delivering what candidates and clients want. Recruiters should plan their work and work their plan, setting goals and metrics to track their progress. The hunt and target recruiting are still essential skills for recruiters. Technology can be used to automate administrative tasks and enhance communication, but the human touch is still crucial in engaging with candidates. Recruiters should be authentic and focus on building relationships rather than just making transactions. Planning, time management, and self-discipline are key to success in recruiting. The industry has become too reliant on technology and needs to get back to the art of the hunt. ABOUT THE SPEAKERS Brad Bialy (LinkedIn) Brad Bialy has a deep passion for helping staffing and recruiting firms achieve their business objectives through strategic digital marketing. John started on a perm desk and developed a knack (or sickness!) for starting branches from scratch in new markets or rebuilding struggling ones. While he has been in the recruiting and staffing industry for 30 years, he has spent the last 10-15 years in roles that have focused on training, mentoring, and developing individual contributors and managers. He is the current Chair of American Staffing Association's Healthcare Section Council and Education Council, and a past chair for the Search and Placement Section Council. How do we EMPOWER our SEN learners? What if by accomodating for their unique needs, we were able to create a more student-centered environment for ALL learners? Provided alternative methods of assessment. Allowed for hands-on projects. Built learning around common themes. Emphasized life skills as much as academic ones. That's exactly what Co-Founders Ali Durban and Tamaryn Yatu have assembled at Gesher School; a through way school for children from ages 4-16 with mild to moderate needs. In this episode, we learn as student-centered practitioners: How to design and build more inclusive environments How to design learning experiences that engage and ignite our diverse learners The science behind neurodiverse learners and their needs How to assess learning that moves beyond paper/pencil tests How to create student-centered environments that create JOY and empowerment Connect with Ali on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ali-durban-6228233/ Connect with Tamaryn on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tamaryn-yartu-b5074751/ Learn more about Gesher: https://gesherschool.com/ Access their database of projects: https://gesherschool.com/school-life/projects/ Pre-Order "Where is the Teacher: The 12 Shifts for Student-Centered Environments." www.transformschool.com/whereistheteacher Take the 12 shifts Scorecard: www.transformschool.com/12shiftsmastermind Ali's Bio: Ali Durban is a parent and co-founder of Gesher, an all-through school designed especially for children who are differently able and who learn differently. Ali's journey from exhausted SEND parent to co-founder of a thriving school community has transformed her into a ringleader for system-wide transformation. Ali currently chairs a SEND council for the Foundation of Education Development which is creating a 10-year plan and vision for UK education. Ali also sits on the Education Council for the Autism Centre of Excellence. Gesher School welcomes you to register for The Bridge, Gesher's professional journal for the learning and continuous development of schools and staff. Tamaryn's Bio: Tamaryn is originally from Cape Town, South Africa, where she completed a Bachelor of Education Foundation Stage and worked within a specialist environment catering for children with a range of learning differences and a focus on early intervention. Tamaryn has always had a passion for teaching as inclusively and creatively as possible and therefore moved to London to explore different learning environments within this specialist field. As a SEND specialist, Tamaryn hs honed her skills over the years to support inclusive practice within several schools both locally and internationally. Through a transformative education approach, I have used Project Based Learning and dynamic learning designs to create innovative and purposeful curriculum programmes. Tamaryn has been a part of the Gesher journey since the very beginning, and became Headteacher at Gesher in April 2021. She planned and oversaw the school's move to a new site alongside the Governors, staff and various external organisations, including 'planning learning spaces' as we evolved into the secondary phase. A big part of this work included the development of our learning spaces to deliver our authentic hands-on curriculum for our students while meeting a range of needs. This year my focus will be to continue to develop the school's provision alongside my new co-head while we work to make a systemic change in the education system through sharing best practices and advocating for our students.

He specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies and is the leader of the Gastrointestinal Disease-Oriented Team at the Carbone Cancer Center. He also serves on the Education Council for the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has received numerous awards for clinical care, including Ambulatory Patient Experience Physician Champion, and has been selected for the Department of Medicine Clinical Excellence Award. Ever wondered why wizards are like doctors and wands are like their specialty? There are times when every milestone of your career will be clear and you will know the right steps to follow. But what about the times when everything is shrouded in uncertainty and doubt? As Dr. Lubner suggests, "Like Harry Potter, let the Sorting Hat decide." Tune in to today's episode of the Medicine Mentors, where we are joined by Dr. Sam Lubner, the Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin, as he shares wisdom perfected over many years of mentoring countless residents and fellows and why every time his mentees are unclear about their career path, he just lets the Sorting Hat decide. Pearls of Wisdom: 1. The best gift that we can give to a patient (or ourselves) is to think deeply about them because patients are deliberately trying to find answers through us. This will help us deliver empathetic and compassionate care. 2. We should realize that we're never alone in medicine. We're never stranded on an island. We always have a team of doctors that we can reach out to. People feel valued when they are sought out for answers to difficult questions. 3. Synthesizing the experiences and the perspectives we gain from our mentors will help us assimilate all of that into a decision. As mentees, one of the most valued traits that we can develop is intellectual curiosity and to never shy away from going back into the patient room to seek those answers.

Mike Isaacson, Currently in his ninth season and only the third person to hold this position in The Muny's 103-year history. To date, he has produced 56 Muny shows, 23 of which had never been on the Muny stage before. He has collaborated at The Muny with many Tony award winners and breakthrough talents, including Christian Borle, Colin Donnell, Marcia Milgrom Dodge, Gary Griffin, Heather Headley, Jennifer Holliday, Denis Jones, Laura Michelle Kelly, Dan Knecht- ges, Beth Leavel, Norm Lewis, Beth Malone, Kathleen Marshall, Patti Murin, Josh Rhodes, Emily Skinner and Ken Page. The Riverfront Times wrote, “Under the leadership of executive producer Mike Isaacson, the quality of Muny productions rose like the proverbial phoenix.” The St. Louis Post-Dispatch named him “Theatre Artist of the Year,” noting that by “staging one impressive production after another, he made The Muny simultaneously hip and – be- lieve it – important to our community.” During Isaacson's tenure, The Muny has produced new developmental productions of Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn, Lerner and Loewe's Paint Your Wagon and The Unsinkable Molly Brown. During its record-breaking 100th season, The Muny became the first theatre in the world to produce the legendary Jerome Robbins' Broadway, doing unprecedented archival work on both the artistic and business side. During that same season, The Muny produced the U.S. regional premiere of Jersey Boys. Isaacson has changed the look and feel of a Muny production, overseeing a transformation in every aspect of pro- duction that culminated in 2019 with the arrival of the theatre's extraordinary James S. Mc- Donnell stage, a state-of-the art stage house that includes revolutionary LED technology, automated sets and a host of other innovations. During the summer of 2020, when The Muny was closed due to COVID-19, Mike produced and created The Muny 2020 Variety Hour Live!, an online show that reached more than a worldwide audience of over 400,000. With Kristin Caskey, Isaacson has produced more than 23 Broadway musicals and plays, national tours, off-Broadway and London productions. All told, his productions have received more than 122 Tony nominations and 34 Tony Awards. Last year, he produced the highly ac- claimed David Byrne's American Utopia, which made every major “Top 10” list, and became a highly acclaimed film by Spike Lee on HBO, for which he also served as an executive produc- er. Just as the COVID-19 shutdown of Broadway began, he was awaiting the first preview of Neil Simon's Plaza Suite, starring Mathew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker. Also, during the shutdown, Isaacson served as a supporting producer of the acclaimed re- vival of The Unsinkable Molly Brown at New York's Transport Group. Other career highlights include: Fun Home (2015 Tony Award, Best Musical; 2018 Olivier nominee for Best Musical), Legally Blonde the Musical (2011 Olivier Award, Best Musical), Thoroughly Modern Millie (2002 Tony Award, Best Musical), Red (2010 Tony Award, Best Play), The Humans (2016 Tony Award, Best Play), If/Then, starring Idina Menzel, Lanford Wilson's Burn This, starring Adam Driver and Kerri Russell (2019 Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Play), Bring It On: The Musical (2013 Tony nomination for Best Musical), A Doll's House 2 (2017 Tony nomination for Best Play), You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (1999 Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Musical), The Seagull, starring Kristin Scott Thomas, Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard, Caroline, or Change (Tony nomination for Best Musical); One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (2001 Tony Award, Best Revival of a Play) and Death of a Salesman (1999 Tony Award, Best Revival of a Play). For the Independent Presenters Network, Isaacson served as producer for Spamalot (2005 Tony Award, Best Musical), Ragtime (revival) and The Color Purple (2006 Tony nomination for Best Musical). He has received the St. Louis Arts and Education Council's Award for Excellence in the Arts and has been awarded The Broadway League's and Theatre Development Fund's Commercial Theater Institute “Robert Whitehead” Award for excellence in producing. He has served on the board of governors and executive committee of The Broadway League and received the Samuel J. L'Hommedieu Award. He has also received the Equality Award from the St. Louis Chapter of Human Rights Campaign.
