Live music and RV travel have more in common than you might think. Both are built around experiences, memories, and the stories that stay with us long after the trip is over. A favorite song can instantly transport us back to a specific place and time, much like revisiting a beloved campground, scenic drive, or destination.Your host, Brooks, takes you on a musical road trip through some of the Pacific Northwest's most celebrated music venues, exploring the stages, theaters, clubs, and amphitheaters that have helped shape the region's music culture. The journey includes stops at Seattle's Paramount Theatre, The Crocodile, Neptune Theatre, and Tractor Tavern, along with Portland's Crystal Ballroom and Roseland Theater, Boise's Egyptian Theatre, and several other memorable venues across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.Along the way, Brooks shares the history behind these locations, the stories that make them special, and the reasons music fans continue to return year after year. From century-old theaters to intimate concert halls and world-class outdoor venues, each stop offers a different perspective on the live music experience and the role these places play in the communities they serve. You'll hear stories of unforgettable performances, unexpected guest appearances, and the kinds of concert moments that can only happen when the stars align just right. Along the way, Brooks shares a piece of fatherly advice that might seem simple on the surface, but it could completely change the way you experience your next concert. Some lessons are learned the hard way. This one doesn't have to be.If you're an RV looking to plan a different kind of road trip, this episode offers inspiration to make live music the destination. Instead of mapping a journey around attractions or campgrounds alone, consider following the concert calendar and letting great venues guide the adventure. The result may be a road trip filled with new places, great music, and stories worth telling around the campfire for years to come.________________________Order your FREE guide book and map highlighting all the scenic byways & highways in Washington State from our friend and sponsor: Scenic WashingtonSend us Fan MailSign up for our NewsletterPlease follow the show so you never miss an episode. His award-winning work in film encompasses feature films, episodic narratives, short form content and commercial productions. Keith's original screenplays are the foundation for his creative projects. His original screenplay The Refuge (2019), acquired by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is included in the Margaret Herrick Library (The Oscars Library) permanent Core Collection there. His feature films held premieres at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood with theatrical releases to follow. Keith's creative vision has driven him to master the aspects of filmmaking, writing and now virtual production. He founded his production company, KS Pictures, in early 2016. He is now fully committed to virtual production, opening a film studio in the Arts District-Downtown area of Los Angeles called “Sutliff Studios: Virtual Productions.” The studio focuses on rental to companies for film, TV, commercial, and other related media content productions. The studio also focuses on in-house production of its own virtual productions. This is done using the latest cutting-edge software and equipment to bring productions together on a virtual stage. Gaming software such as Unreal Engine combined with a camera tracking solution to help bring real time rendering along with “parallax” on the LED volume wall to life. He is also heavily involved in the operation of the production and filming techniques used on a virtual stage and In-Camera VFX. Feliks Banel's guest on this BONUS EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY is Tom Tangney, retired former Seattle journalist and broadcaster, longtime local cinephile - and all around gadfly. The Seattle International Film Festival – or SIFF - announced on October 9, 2025 that they are ending their lease of the Egyptian Theatre on Seattle's Capitol Hill. The theatre, which was built as a Masonic Temple around 1916, belongs to Seattle Central College. It's unclear what's next for the structure, which has not been officially recognized as a historic landmark. Still, it has served as a movie theatre for decades, and was key to growth of Seattle as a center of movie-going, and to the development of the SIFF. Tom Tangney worked at the Egyptian in the 1980s, and has paid attention to Seattle cinemas and cinephiles for decades. This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! In 1929, the Egyptian Theatre in DeKalb, Illinois, opened its doors just as the Great Depression began. Built in the style of ancient Egypt, it became one of over 100 theaters inspired by the discovery of King Tut's tomb. For nearly a century, it has been a community landmark, hosting vaudeville shows, films, concerts, and events. But beneath the glamour and golden décor lies another story—one steeped in the paranormal. The Egyptian Theatre is said to be home to at least six distinct spirits. Witnesses report encounters with a woman in green, a loyal supporter named Irv who refuses to leave, and even the presence of a young girl whose laughter still echoes long after shows end. These phantoms seem tied to both the vaudeville era and modern times, suggesting the building is alive with history that refuses to rest. In this episode of The Grave Talks, we sit down with marketing and communications director Jeanine Holcomb to explore the haunted legacy of the Egyptian Theatre, its ghosts, and the stories that keep audiences coming back for more than just the shows. This is Part Two of our conversation. #EgyptianTheatre #HauntedTheatre #GhostStories #TheGraveTalks #HauntedIllinois #ParanormalHistory #LadyInGreen #HauntedPlaces #VaudevilleGhosts #HauntedEgyptian Love real ghost stories? The Egyptian Theater in DeKalb, Illinois, was one of more than 100 similarly-themed theaters built in the US. Construction began in the spring of 1929, and a few months later, in December, the Egyptian Theatre opened its doors - just a couple of months after the stock market crashed and the Great Depression began. The renovations and resurgence of the theater have apparently awakened some old ghosts within its walls. Spirits from the vaudeville era and some from present times are reported to mingle with the living, haunting performances and after-shows at the theater. According to legend, six unique spirits are residing at the Egyptian Theatre. From the lady in green to Irv, one of the theater's biggest supporters, and even a mysterious young girl – they all make their presence known. If Utahns thought they'd seen the last of Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow after her 2023 ski trial in Park City, they were wrong … kinda. “Gwyn” is back and center stage at Park City's Egyptian Theatre for the U.S. premiere of “Gwyneth Goes Skiing,” a satirical play based on Paltrow's ski-slope collision with retired optometrist Terry Sanderson and the courtroom showdown that followed. Joseph Martin and Linus Karp, writers and stars of the production, join host Ali Vallarta to share their favorite jokes-as-couplets and ask Salt Lakers for help returning to the scene of the crime. Resources and references: Tickets to “Gwyneth Goes Skiing” at the Egyptian Theater in Park City, May 16-26, 2024. ICYMI: A tidy recap of the infamous trial. In 1922, following the discovery of King Tut's Tomb, Egyptian-themed theaters became quite popular.
