Candace enlisted in the military, attending Officer Candidate School to earn her commission in the U.S. Army. Her assignments include service with the Joint Special Operations Command and the 18th Airborne Corps. She is a combat veteran and was part of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.     For the past 15 years, Candace has served at both the local and international level through mission trips and service projects. In August 2021, Candace and her husband joined other volunteers in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., to assist with the evacuation of our Allies from Afghanistan. She served as the site manager for the Emirates Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi, serving approximately 15,000 Afghans.  She is currently the Chief Operations Officer for The Black Feather Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on helping refugee children acclimate to their new environment through sports.   Candace has been married for 23 years to retired Special Forces (SF) Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Joe Cieslo.  They have three biological children and are also the legal guardians of three Afghan Refugee minors.  She was awarded a 4-year, full scholarship to play for Georgetown University Women's Basketball Team, that became the Big East Co-Champion and a Sweet 16 participant in 1993. Jim's Bio: Joining the Army at 17, the Tennessee native Jim Young attended Basic training and Infantry school at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He was then stationed in Schweinfurt, West Germany With the 3rd Infantry division. In 1987 he was injured while on a border patrol between Czechoslovakia and West Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1988. He returned home and started my own business building and installing audio video and surveillance systems. Alan's Bio: Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan Mack, a native of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, served over 35 years in the US Army before retiring in 2016. Mike's Bio: Mike Simpson was born the oldest of two children in Redondo Beach California. At the age of 11, his father's employment with Rockwell International caused his family to relocate to Tehachapi California, where Mike would go on to attend high school and play football for the Tehachapi Warriors. Growing up in a working class family in a rural community, Mike developed an interest in hunting and fishing, and learned a love for the outdoors which would stay with him throughout his life. It was his love of the outdoors, as well as his interest in firearms and military history, that would ultimately lead to his enlistment in the United States Army after his graduation from high school in 1984. After graduating with his Medical Doctorate, Mike trained in Emergency Medicine, and still maintains a medical practice as a board certified EM physician in the state of Texas. As an Army physician, Mike was assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), and deployed multiple times in direct support of the Global War on Terror (GWOT). During that time period, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with V device for valor in combat, as well as the Combat Medical Badge, for performing his duties as an Emergency Medicine Physician under enemy fire.
