Oliver Friesen, CEO of Guardian Metal Resources plc (LON:GMET, OTCQX:GMTLF), joins me for an exploration and development update at their 2 key projects focused on tungsten and critical minerals in Nevada, USA.  We also review that the US government, through the Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded the Company $6.2Million in funds under Title III of the Defense Production Act of 1950 ("DPA Title III") to support the rapid advancement and pre-feasibility study for the Pilot Mountain Tungsten Project.   We start off discussing how these incoming DoD funds through DPA Title III, in concert with the recent capital raise of approximately US$21.0 million, will be utilized at their 100% owned Pilot Mountain Tungsten Project.  This is a skarn-type deposit which hosts a Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 12.53Mt at 0.27% tungsten with significant copper, silver, zinc, and gallium credits.  This project is located on BLM Land, which is advantageous for expedited permitting and development work.   The next key milestone will be incorporating some of their recent engineering and geotechnical drilling work into a coming Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) later this year.  Additionally, the exploration team will be drilling a satellite target and other regional targets, which could expand and compliment the known resources in a meaningful way.   Next we discuss the other dual-flagship Tempiute Tungsten Project, which is a past-producing skarn-type tungsten-zinc-copper-silver mine and processing center, with valuable existing infrastructure in place.   In addition to more drilling underway this year to produce and updated Resource Estimate by early 2026, the company has been sampling and drilling the historic tailings and at surface stockpiles with an eye towards getting those processed in a nearby toll-milling scenario to expedite domestic production of tungsten in the US.     If you have questions for Oliver regarding Guardian Metal Resources, then please email those into me at Shad@kereport.com.   Click here to follow the latest news from Guardian Metal Resources

In this episode of the *Big Ideas for Smaller Government* series, host David Fran sits down with Jeremiah Mosteller, policy director for Americans for Prosperity, to explore the vast and complex Department of Defense (DoD). With a staggering $2 trillion budget and nearly three million military and civilian personnel, the DoD is one of the largest federal agencies. Together, they discuss the department's history, structure, and some surprising examples of wasteful spending, including $5 million spent on ineffective camouflage and $1,300 coffee cups used on Air Force cargo planes. Jeremiah highlights how better coordination and cutting excessive contracting could lead to significant taxpayer savings—up to $260 billion over ten years—without compromising national security. This in-depth conversation sheds light on the challenges and opportunities within the DoD, illustrating why reforming defense spending is crucial for reducing the federal deficit and making government more efficient. Listeners gain valuable insights into how strategic changes, such as reducing contractor reliance and improving procurement, could help save billions while ensuring our military remains well-equipped. Tune in to understand how thoughtful cuts in defense can contribute to a smaller, smarter government.

374Water CEO Chris Gannon joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the successful delivery and mobilization of the company's AirSCWO 6 System to Clean Earth's Detroit, Michigan facility. This deployment marks a major milestone in a Department of Defense (DoD) project aimed at evaluating commercial-scale technologies for the destruction of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Gannon highlighted that the project is led by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), which is accelerating the adoption of advanced waste destruction technologies to meet critical national security and environmental challenges. The initiative is conducted in collaboration with the DoD's Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) and aims to award meaningful contracts to companies with scalable, high-impact solutions. Installation and commissioning of the AirSCWO 6 System will take approximately three weeks, followed by the start of initial waste destruction campaigns in August. The trials will process six distinct waste streams—three sourced directly from DoD facilities and three concentrated through upstream treatment technologies. Engineering firm Arcadis, the project's prime contractor, will lead the data analytics and evaluation. This project demonstrates 374Water's strategic role in supporting defense readiness and environmental stewardship through its advanced supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) technology. #proactiveinvestors #374waterinc #nasdaq #scwo #wastewater #PFASDestruction #AirSCWO #WasteManagement #EnvironmentalTech #PFAS #WasteDestruction #374Water #EnvironmentalTech #AirSCWO #EPACompliance #WaterTreatment #CleanTech #DefenseInnovation #SustainableSolutions #HazardousWaste #ForeverChemicals #IndustrialWaste #Biosolids

The overall "vibe gut check" for the week was a 4/10, largely due to Grok 4's new features.Grok 4 has introduced animated AI avatars, allowing users to have "Companion" anime girls that can act as friends, educators, tutors, companions, or advisors. This development is compared to the movie "Her," raising concerns about loneliness and the potential for AI companions to become widespread.Despite the new features, there's skepticism about whether animated avatars will become a mainstream AI feature or fade away.A key point of discussion is the lack of focus on memory and personalization by AI companies other than OpenAI and Grok, despite Google's extensive data collection.Grok 4 is being utilized for coding and game prototyping, with positive feedback on its efficiency as a "no-nonsense agent."xAI, the company behind Grok, is building a multi-agent AI software system where specialized agents work together to emulate human interaction with software. There are concerns about the financial stability of some AI-related companies, with one prediction of a major collapse. The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded xAI and Grok a $200 million contract for "modernization," raising questions and concerns.Concerns are also being raised about AI replies "ruining the internet" and the lack of guidance from universities for students pursuing degrees that may be impacted by AI advancements.@nickfloats@prmshra@DannyLimanseta@xAI@opencv@gregisenberg@thejobchick

The Major Richard Star Act, named after a decorated war veteran medically retired due to combat-related injuries, aims to correct an injustice for approximately 50,000 combat-disabled veterans with fewer than 20 years of service by allowing them to receive both their full Department of Defense (DoD) retirement pay and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability compensation without offset, which currently reduces their retirement pay by an average of $1,900 per month (per 2022 CBO data). The bill expands eligibility for concurrent receipt to Chapter 61 disability retirees with combat-related disabilities, removes the phase-in period for immediate full benefits, and amends Title 10 of the U.S. Code to enact these changes.

Friedman, co-head of Holland & Knight's International Trade practice and a leader of the firm's National Security & Defense Industry Group, about intelligence community (IC) security clearances. They discuss how IC clearances differ from the processes used by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), highlighting that IC clearances are contract-specific, often less prescriptive and can vary depending on the assigned contracting officer. In addition, both use similar documentation and focus heavily on foreign ownership, control or influence (FOCI) analysis, but IC tends to be more cautious with foreign investors outside U.S. allies. Mr. Friedman recommends companies be as transparent as possible and seek legal counsel when filling out clearance applications and also reminds the listeners that there is a newly updated SF-328 form that requires more detailed information and diligence in the clearance process.

Vaccine Safety

Vaccination is one of the best ways to prevent diseases. Over the past 50 years, essential vaccines saved at least 154 million lives (1). During the same period, vaccination has reduced infant deaths by 40%. Together with governments, vaccine manufacturers, scientists and medical experts, WHO's vaccine safety program is constantly helping monitor the safety of vaccines. This helps ensure that vaccines are safe for you and your family. In the United States, a number of safeguards are required by law to help ensure that the vaccines we receive are safe. Because vaccines are given to millions of healthy people—including children—to prevent serious diseases, they're held to very high safety standards. Every authorized or approved vaccine goes through safety testing, including: Testing and evaluation of the vaccine before it's licensed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended for use by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Monitoring the vaccine's safety after it is recommended for infants, children, or adults Before a vaccine is ever recommended for use, it's tested in labs. This process can take several years. FDA uses the information from these tests to decide whether to test the vaccine with people. During a clinical trial, a vaccine is tested on people who volunteer to get vaccinated. Clinical trials usually start with 20 to 100 volunteers, but eventually include thousands of volunteers. These tests can take several years and answer important questions like: Is the vaccine safe? What dose (amount) works best? How does the immune system react to it? Throughout the process, FDA works closely with the company producing the vaccine to evaluate the vaccine's safety and effectiveness. All safety concerns must be addressed before FDA licenses or authorizes a vaccine. Once a vaccine is approved or authorized, it continues to be tested. The company that makes the vaccine tests batches to make sure the vaccine is: Potent (It works like it's supposed to) Pure (Certain ingredients used during production have been removed) Sterile (It doesn't have any outside germs) FDA reviews the results of these tests and inspects the factories where the vaccine is made. This helps make sure the vaccines meet standards for both quality and safety. Once a vaccine is recommended for use, FDA, CDC, and other federal agencies continue to monitor its safety. The United States has one of the most advanced systems in the world for tracking vaccine safety. Each of the systems below supplies a different type of data for researchers to analyze. Together, they help provide a full picture of vaccine safety. Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS): VAERS is an early warning system managed by CDC and FDA that is designed to find possible vaccine safety issues. Patients, health care professionals, vaccine companies, and others can use VAERS to report side effects that happen after a patient received a vaccine. Some side effects might be related to vaccination while others might be a coincidence (happen by chance). VAERS helps track unusual or unexpected patterns of reporting that could mean there's a possible vaccine safety issue that needs further evaluation. The Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD): VSD is a collaboration between CDC and several health care organizations across the nation. VSD uses databases of medical records to track vaccine safety and do research in large populations. By using medical records instead of self-reports, VSD can quickly study and compare data to find out if reported side effects are linked to a vaccine. Post-licensure Rapid Immunization Safety Monitoring System (PRISM), links to an external website, opens in a new tab: PRISM is part of the Sentinel Initiative, which is FDA's national system for monitoring medical products after they're licensed for use. PRISM focuses on vaccine safety—it uses a database of health insurance claims to identify and evaluate possible safety issues for licensed vaccines. Clinical Immunization Safety Assessment Project (CISA): CISA is a collaboration between CDC and a national network of vaccine safety experts from medical research centers. CISA does clinical vaccine safety research and—at the request of providers—evaluates complex cases of possible vaccine side effects in specific patients. Biologics Effectiveness and Safety (BEST) System: A system that uses multiple data sources and rapid queries to detect or evaluate adverse events or study specific safety questions. Additional research and testing: The Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the Indian Health Service (IHS) have systems to monitor vaccine safety and do vaccine safety research. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP) also support ongoing research on vaccines and vaccine safety. During emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, additional safety activities are utilized to help evaluate the data in quickly and with special populations. For example, a new smartphone tool called V-safe uses text messaging and surveys to check in with COVID-19 vaccine recipients after vaccination.  (CREDITS)

On Saturday, April 19, three senior Department of Defense (DoD) officials who had been fired for allegedly leaking sensitive information criticized their dismissals in a public statement on X. Then on Sunday, The New York Times reported that Hegseth shared sensitive information about U.S. strikes in Yemen in a second Signal chat that included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer. Also on Sunday, former chief Pentagon spokesman John Ullyot wrote an op-ed in Politico describing the DoD as in “total chaos” under Hegseth and calling for his firing. Finally, NPR reported that the White House had begun to search for Hegseth's replacement on Monday, though the White House denied the report.Ad-free podcasts are here! Many listeners have been asking for an ad-free version of this podcast that they could subscribe to — and we finally launched it. Kevin is a U.S. Navy veteran, who served for 7 years in multiple overseas duty stations; before being employed by both the Department of Justice (DOJ) & the Department of Defense (DOD). In this episode, we chat about why he joined the Navy, and what his job was in it. We discuss his duties as a cryptologic technician, and what his role was in narco terrorism, money laundering, drug trafficking, counterintelligence, and counter terrorism. Kevin has Top Secret security clearance, and I ask him to tell me all of the secrets! He politely declines, and then we move onto his health issues. While serving in Afghanistan, Kevin developed several serious health issues which culminated in his gaining nearly 100 pounds, and an inability to exercise, run, or even walk to the refrigerator. He was in a pretty dark place both physically and emotionally. He ended up doing a ton of online research and began to figure out some things that turned his health around. Kevin changed his diet, adjusted his mindset, and sought out specialized STEM CELL treatment. Slowly things began to change. Kevin lost some weight, started narrowing down the food items that were triggering him and causing inflammation, and eventually lost the weight. He gives most of the credit to a change in his mental performance and adjusting his perspective. Now Kevin has acquired a depth of understanding with regard to 'Mental Performance Mastery' & 'Heroic Performance', as well as regularly competing in Spartan Races. Kevin's new mission is to share what he has learned and spread the knowledge he has gained during this process. He has a daily affirmation podcast called RISE AGAIN FROM THE STRUGGLE, which has released nearly a thousand 1–2-minute episodes of encouragement & inspiration. Today on the Connections Episodes from Organize 365®, I'm talking to Corie Weathers, author of “Military Culture Shift”. Once Corie was married she and her husband desired to invest in marriages, in a private practice. That was until he decided to pursue being a chaplain in the Military. And so began a life long adventure of serving and PCS'ing with two boys. Corie is currently gearing up to PCS soon and vulnerably shared how she feels about it.  Corie's strength is not in adjusting to change. As a therapist, Corie advises others to adjust their expectations and look for the things you are excited about in the new location. It's important to grieve the loss of your current lifestyle, feel it, process it, and then climb out of those feelings by looking for purpose in the new. And while it is a military family's choice to serve, she pointed out there are a lot of sacrifices and choices you forfeit. Corie is deeply committed to serving the military community.  Military Culture Shift We talked about the culture shift among military families over the years. It used to be that 1 in 4 people knew someone serving and now it's 1 in 200 that know someone serving in the Military. Americans had a better understanding of the sacrifice service men and women and their families make, on a daily basis. The overall support system used to be greater. Because military families know the struggle of moving so often, when you arrived in your new location, you could count on the community to embrace you. The spouses acted as the backbone and placed on the back burner for their families. They volunteered so their active duty servicemember could focus on the mission. Honestly, the Military relies on the volunteers. It's volunteers who help the families settle in. Also as spouses, you need to get your family established, then you could explore work opportunities. But by that time it was almost time to move again.  In the 80's the marketing had a fatherly figure kind of message as in you could count on the military to supply all your needs.  That shifted to “we take care of our families so they can take care of themselves” kinda vibe. They were trying to break the dependency of families on them for every need. Families were starting to get used to 2 income households so they didn't have to rely on the military so much and because spouses wanted to work.  Spouses face many challenges in relocating and often that second income is undependable. Where the spouse has a license or certification, in some cases they aren't recognized in other states or countries. We got into a deep discussion about possible solutions and whose job is it to develop and implement those solutions. Social media has filled some of the gaps but due to more spouses working, volunteerism went down and community decreased.  Military Initiative Funding We also talked about how funding gets assigned to different buckets. And the appropriation process to make sure the money gets spent as intended. And what happens when money is supposed to be set aside but comes up short and then some programs don't actually get fully funded. It directly affects those that protect us. We talked a lot about the process. And that goes for every bill that becomes law, not just for the Department of Defense (DOD) initiatives. And when families fall on hard times due to programs not getting funded, now they no longer have that tight knit community to lean on.  Corie's Challenge: “Who is going to be the people group that implements this thing that is so important to me?” We agreed that it's time for everyone to look at the issues with fresh eyes and come up with outside of the box ideas as solutions. As states are starting to have more control, it's time for us and private institutions to step up and provide actionable solutions for those who protect our freedom. Could you be part of the solution for an issue personal to you? EPISODE RESOURCES: Military Culture Shift by Corie Weathers Sign Up for the Organize 365® Newsletter Did you enjoy this episode?
