Corey Lucas and Clayton Beaird hit the road to the idyllic town of Seneca, Illinois to talk with Drake Stuedemann about the finer things in life... waterfowling tradition and high-end craftsmanship. We talk about how an interest and passion for woodworking and building things as a young child has led Drake down a path to becoming a custom luxury furniture builder. His story is fascinating in that his family's tradition for waterfowling intertwines all of his life experiences, like how coaching from his grandfather and trudging through muck to retrieve ducks may have led to him being a Division I college athlete. Listen to how duck hunting tradition and etiquette has been passed down for generations through Drake's family cabin on the Mississippi River. A fascinating story rich with memories and keepsakes (check out the photos on Instagram @coreykajpodcast or @cedarrundecoys).You can learn more about Drake Woodworking here:IG: @drake_woodworkingWebsite: www.drakewoodworking.com

Much like art, another crucial element of interior design - and living - is furniture. It fills the volume and contributes to our perception of a space, and we interact with furniture in all manner of casual and personal ways. Today on The Chaise Lounge, Nick is joined by Keith Fritz (of Keith Fritz Fine Furniture) and dives deep into the world of fine, bespoke furniture. The son of a carpenter, Keith was raised in Indiana and taught to respect the value of making your own way and making your own sundries. A jack of all trades who advocates for more bespoke, more personal furniture - Keith has even done custom design work for the Clintons. And he and Nick share an interesting, unique piece of history. We're very lucky to have a group of clients who want American craftmanship, and want art, and want something that's one of a kind. bespoke fine furniture maker Keith Fritz Tweet Chaise Lounge Updates We just wrapped our latest season of Coast to Coast Design, with Garrison Hullinger and new co-host Lisa Davenport! When you're a sexed up teen graduating high school in mere days, there's only one place to go. THE FURNITURE STORE!!! Though our teens try as hard as they can to delay sex by setting up an elaborate game of hide and seek, eventually some does happen. Unfortunately for our teens, the forward thinking owner of Fine Furniture has taken the nontraditional step of letting an ex-con set up an apartment in the basement of his business and when the partying kids start disappearing he's the first suspect. But, things aren't always as they seem, and there's someone else in the building who likes dressing as his victims, and perpetuating hurtful stereotypes. So grab your bondage gear, your sweet dinosaur earrings, and dress up your collection of 500 furniture mannequins for the 1988 classic, Hide & Go Shriek!
Laura is a mother, woodworker, teacher, curator, and author. She has a degree in architecture, but really has a drive to be much more hands on. Through a series of events she found herself in woodworking school, getting a certificate in furniture design and manufacturing. She went into woodworking as a career from there, landing as a teacher at the Krenov School of Fine Furniture in Fort Bragg, CA.
