In this episode I interviewed Wee Kee, the co-founder of Virtuals. From here and there in the conversation you can tell that Virtuals team is a pragmatic and perseverant one. To build a successful product in this fast moving industry, there's no fast track but stay on the table and keep grinding. Shownotes:You guys have been dominating mindshare amongst all the crypto native folks lately. So first of all congratulations! But still would love to hear how you introduce yourself to our audience. There were quite many platforms that empower developers to launch agents. What key factors do you think led you to where you guys are today?Do you think the diversity of the agents came from the no-code requirement? What are some of the agents that grew from Virtuals that left people an impression? Also about Multimodality. What are the best performing categories for agents developed with GAME?How do you decide whether you're going to co-marketing with one of the ecosystem agents?I read on Messari that you guys have integrated Farcaster, but I haven't seen a lot of news that you guys are pushing on that front. Any plans? I was particularly interested to hear your answer on this one, because looks like with a web3 native social network, an agent developed under GAME framework will be capable of doing a lot more
In today's episode, we explore how sometimes the best innovations come from rethinking the basics rather than fixing what already exists. That's exactly what Flashbots is achieving with their groundbreaking innovations in the rollup space - creating something entirely new instead of patching the old. At its core, this is about building a better trading system from the ground up. Flashbots stepped back from the usual approach of fixing individual problems and asked a fundamental question: "How can we design a blockchain specifically for trading?" Their answer is Unichain, which focuses on two essential components - optimizing transaction speed and ensuring precise trade ordering. One of the biggest challenges in blockchain trading has been MEV, where traders can lose value due to transaction ordering issues. Flashbots has developed an innovative solution using Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) - secure computational environments that ensure fair and transparent trade processing. The benefits of this new approach are far-reaching. Regular traders experience faster and more reliable transactions. Developers gain access to enhanced tools for building sophisticated trading applications. And the entire system operates with significantly improved efficiency. This development signals an important shift in blockchain technology's evolution. Rather than attempting to create all-purpose blockchains, we're witnessing the emergence of specialized chains designed for specific use cases. In this instance, Unichain excels at one crucial function: enabling superior trading experiences. We'll explore these technological improvements in detail and examine how they're shaping the future of onchain scaling for Ethereum, in the dark forest. My guest today is Stephane Gosselin. Stephane co-founded the MEV pirate dev collective Flashbots, which he left in late 2022. His new project, OneBalance, is a framework that substantially reimagines how blockchain accounts are created and managed. In this episode, Stephane and I dive into the lifecycle of an Ethereum transaction today, and the growing number of paths a user's intentions may take to ultimately be expressed onchain. We then dive into OneBalance, Stephane and Ankit Chiplunkar's new account framework that decouples accounts from global consensus machines, in an effort to bundle user state across all chains in a unified wrapper called a Credible Account. It was exciting to speak with Stephane about OneBalance's paradigmatic refresh on the notion of accounts at such an early stage in the project's development. I hope you enjoy the show. As always, this show is provided as entertainment and does not constitute legal, financial, or tax advice or any form of endorsement or suggestion. The C.A.K.E framework established that chain abstraction is a collaborative effort, and not a one winner takes all situation. This idea for how the intents and chain abstraction stack works was originally created by Frontier Research and now there is a C.A.K.E working group. Since then, they have also spun off a new project called OneBalance focusing on credible accounts and achieving the chain abstraction experience. We were joined by Stephane, an ex-Flashbots team, and now leading the OneBalance team. We talked about their focus on developing a chain abstracted stack via credible accounts and resource locks. These innovations prevent double-spending and make secure cross-chain messaging possible without the need to lock assets on the source chain. Collaboration is at the heart of OneBalance's mission, along with other chain abstraction contributors. Rather than replacing existing wallet infrastructure like MetaMask or Rabby, OneBalance aims to integrate its credible account capabilities into them to make the transition for users easier. We asked how Stephane sees OneBalance getting traction and what the process would be like for active users to switch to their solution. We also discussed the role that solver networks play in the chain abstraction ecosystem, executing transactions on behalf of users and ensuring fast fills. We discussed the permissionless access, speed, and price optimization properties of solver networks, which allows them to tackle the "order flow trilemma". We also talked about MEV and local consensus towards the end, and uncovered a bold thesis from Stephane...His vision? Every validator and user account to operate as its own rollup. Watch or listen to todays episode to learn about the CAKE framework and credible accounts as a means to achieving the chain abstracted future. On this episode of Archebyte, Katherine Wu and fellow Archetype team member, Nick Pai, are joined by the CEO and co-founder of Risk Labs, Hart Lambur, to talk bridges, L2s, and interoperability.Hart and Risk Labs are best known for creating UMA, an optimistic oracle, and Across Protocol, a crosschain bridge. In the multichain future that is quickly becoming the present, infrastructure like oracles, bridges, and sequencers play crucial roles. But, these tools that are meant to facilitate interoperability between blockchains still have plenty of room for improvement.During our conversation, we dig into the problems that bridges currently face, how Across is designed to mitigate them, and what a safer multichain ecosystem looks like. Hart and Nick give their thoughts on centralized, decentralized, and shared sequencers, intents, and the role aggregators play in regards to bridges. They also answer the loaded question - are bridges L2s?

The maximal extractable value (MEV) problem, if left unchecked, could represent an existential threat to Ethereum's core values. One might argue that it is a natural result of solving market inefficiencies, but it entices to centralisation and collusion in order to extract the highest amount of value. Additionally, through front-running and back-running, it creates unnecessary overhead, which caused up to 2.4% of the total network congestion back in DeFi summer of 2020 (according to Flashbots' research). Doug Colkitt is an ex-high frequency trader, ex-MEV bot searcher, and founder of the decentralized exchange CrocSwap. In this episode, we talk about all three. We begin with high frequency trading, where Doug walks us through the differences between maker and taker strategies, why queue position is so critical for makers, and why volatility is a high frequency trader's best friend. We then discuss Ethereum-based MEV strategies. Doug explains what MEV is, how the architecture of the Ethereum block chain allows it to exist, and a high level topology of the different types of MEV strategies that exist. He also explains how the game theory behind MEV changed dramatically with the launch of Flashbots. Finally, we talk about his new decentralized exchange CrocSwap and its primary innovations, including dynamic fee levels, identification of toxic flow, and vaults that enable KYC. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Doug Colkitt.

Stephane Gosselin is the Founder of Flashbots, an R&D organization that's trying to fix the most pernicious problem in crypto—the problem of MEV (Maximum Extractable Value). Many of us are massively optimistic about crypto and aren't worried too much about its future. However, this MEV thing could be our achilles heel. On this episode, we dive into what Stephane and his team are doing to make MEV less of a potential weak point, how MEV works, and what our industry would look like if Flashbots didn't exist. And of course—so much more. This is another fundamental Bankless episode that you won't want to miss. ------
