We've been teasing it for months but it's finally here: Our 12th anniversary episode of doing Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast! I'm going to keep this blog piece tight and sweet - and urge you to avail yourself of the actual episode, which you can find at your favorite download location OR at our homesite, http://SuccotashShow.com. This episode — our last before embarking on a shortish hiatus — is double-hosted, featuring Marc Hershon and Tyson Saner. We talk about the shows' origins, its evolution during the Age of Soundcasting, and a number of the personalities we've met along the way. One of those personalities joins us as our Special Guest for this 12th year blowout and that's friend of Succotash and friend in real life, Travis Clark! He jumped into this madness the same time we did and, as part of that vaunted fraternity, weighs in with his own observations and opinions. In the style of our earliest days' shows, this installment is a bit longer than our fare these days, clocking in at about an hour and 15 minutes. In addition to our three-way conversation, we have a number of congratulatory messages from friends and past guests of the show to share with you, from Dana Carvey, Jason "Jabs" McNamara, Hunter Block, Dean Haglund & Phil Leirness of Chillpak Hollywood Hour, Matt Knudsen, Davian Dent, Kat Sorens & Dom Risk of Strange Times Podcast, and Stu Buckland of The Angry Chimp and too many other soundcasts to name here. In addition, we have an ad from our fake sponsor Henderson's Pants and we revisit a succotash recipe prepared by Chef Eddie Vedder. Thanks, as always, to producer/engineers Joe Paulino and our booth announcer, Bill Heywatt! All in all, it's quite a shindig to celebrate our dozen years in this crazy business. Jump in and have fun! And we'll hopefully be back with some fresh version of Succotash in the not-too-distant future. Thanks for listening! — Marc Hershon

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to this "Chats" episode of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, now in the last vestiges of its 11th year bringing you now 345 episodes including this one. Yes, this is Episode 345, which means that the last episode that dropped into our stream was episode 344 and THAT episode was also a Chats episode, hosted by show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon, with whom I share hosting duties with on an every-other-weekly basis. In Epi344, Mr. Hershon's guest was Josh Gilliland of The Legal Geeks soundcast, which, on their main webpage over at TheLegalGeeks.com is described as "The Legal Geeks, Jessica Mederson and Joshua Gilliland, are proud to be attorneys and geeks. Please enjoy their podcasts discussing everything from eDiscovery to Sci Fi and a lawyer's point of view on a universe of Geek culture." Mr. Hershon and Mr. Gilliland had a pretty interesting discussion in that episode that I listened to about 75-80 percent of before I had to stop listening due to some Mandalorian spoilers that I really wish I hadn't heard but, oh well, that's going to happen occasionally when people discuss pop culture. This week, as previously stated, is a "Chats" episode that features a fun conversation I had with comedian and musician Josh Barnes. We discuss many things including children's entertainment, fatherhood, musicals, horror movies, and conspiracy videos amongst other things including, but not limited to, Josh's first comedy special Petty Since '83, which you can find in audio form over at http://joshbarnescomedy.bandcamp.com or you can watch it up at http://watch.nextupcomedy.com Also catch his 2nd comedy special which I attended the filming of in late January of 2023 at the Savage Henry Comedy Club (whose large cast of performers and participants I have attempted to feature in various capacities over the recent years, here and there when I could, in clip form when those personalities have soundcasts.) My intention is to interview as many of the local comedians as I can in the coming year, and perhaps get back on stage myself, but that's just between you and me. I really appreciate Mr. Barnes taking the time, as his schedule is pretty full. This week's show is sponsored by our longtime, freeloading, FAKE sponsor Henderson's Pants and their stunning new Bivouac Briefs.  Warning: This interview contains spoilers for a few movies, including Lady in the Water, The Village, Signs, and Cabin Fever, as well as Muppets from Space.  Our next episode is 346 which will be helmed by Marc Hershon and I have no idea what he has in store for you...aside from the assumption that it will either be a "Clips" episode or a "Chats" episode... but even that can change. By the time you hear this, I will have had my birthday already, and likely I will have already begun my hunt for clips, or perhaps another chat, that I will present to you in about 2 weeks from then...for Episode 347. ...and that's the best prediction I can make for the near future. Will there be new episodes as we make our way to our 12 year mark this coming April?  Most likely. Will we have an actual sponsor by then?  Who can say? Will I be galloping toward 50?  With any luck. At any rate, you can go to www.tysonsaner.com to find easily clickable links to my other content including Anti Social Show, an entirely other soundcast I co-host with Hunter Block, "Tyson Saner: Gamer" a video podcast that I make for my YouTube channel, and some of the music that I've been making over the years. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, consider leavin a 5-star review of our program if you enjoy any part of what we provide for you at no additional cost to you, and...should someone happen to inquire, perhaps completely randomly, if you have heard anything good or interesting lately, and this program leaps to the forefront of your consciouness, mentioning us in that moment really helps us out. It's what we mean when we gently remind you to please pass the Succotash.  — Tyson Saner

Welcome to our first “real” Succotash episode of 2023! I'm Marc Hershon, your host for this week's Episode 338, “First-of-the-Year Foursome”. Here's wishing you and yours a fantastic New Year. As your Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, we'll be bringing you a whole bunch of clips throughout this coming year. Mostly from comedy soundcasts – our name for “podcasts” – but we also vary from that from time to time. All to give you a taste of the hundreds of thousands of shows that are out there in Soundcastland. We sample ‘em for you with hopes you'll be curious enough to go check ‘em out yourself. When I say “we”, in case you're new to this program, it's all about me and my awesome co-host Tyson Saner. (Although we're co-hosts, we prefer to divide and conquer, meaning that we each host alternating weeks.) And the reason I call this the first “real” episode of the year? The past two installments of this soundcast were Succotash “Second Helpings, with the most recent one, Epi337, with your aforementioned loyal and faithful co-host Tyson, featured a reheating of Episode 173 with special guest Hunter Block. You can still catch wherever you find, get, or trap your soundcasts, including Soundclouds, Spotify, PodBay, iHeart Radio, YouTube, Amazon Music, Audible, Stitcher, Apple and Google Podcasts. Feel free to start your hunt right at our homesite, SucccotashShow.com, where the entire archive of almost 12 years of shows has been loving curated for you. So what do I have in store for you, snippet-wise in this installment? I have delectable samples from SNAFU, The Retrospectors' Today in History, The Worst Idea of All Time, and Unpopular Opinion. As if that's not enough, we also have a sparkling, brand new advertisement from our longtime, non-paying, and completely fake sponsor Henderson's Pants, featuring the new Bottoms Up Cargo Pants, with a design inspired by our very own Bill Heywatt. CLIPS SNAFUOur first offering is a clip from a show hosted by comedian, actor, and now soundcaster Ed Helms, who you hopefully know from his stints on The Daily Show, The Office, and the Hangover movie franchise. The show's description puts it best, in that the show is about history's greatest screw-ups. The first season of SNAFU, which recently concluded, delved into the story of something called Able Archer 83, a NATO military exercise that almost touched off a nuclear was in November or 1983. Maybe. If you ever saw, heard about, or remembered a feature film from that same year: Wargames, starring Matthew Broderick as a kid who ends up tangling with a military battle simulator computer that, well, almost starts nuclear Armageddon. Or does it? Anyway, it's a great show, uncovering stuff in history most of us probably don't know anything about. As part of his uncovering the story, Ed talked to both Broderick and the director, John Badham. And after the season was mostly over, he recently dropped a bonus episode featuring his chats with the two Wargamers. We have a sample of his convo with Matthew… The Retrospectors: This Day in HistoryThis is a daily show, as evidenced by the title, but each episode only runs about 10 minutes. So it's either a great kickoff to your other soundcasts or a nice palate cleanser between shows. Hosted by Olly Mann, Rebecca Messina, and Arion McNicoll, each episode is packed full of fascinating tidbits about something in particular that occurred that particular day in the past, as well as many of the trappings that surrounded it. Our clip comes from an episode that dropped last Friday called “Rink-O-Mania!” and rips the cover off the invention and introduction of the first roller skates… The Worst Idea of All TimeI'm reasonably certain that you had to have heard of the next soundcast we're featuring. Hailing from New Zealand, TWIOAT quickly got notoriety when it popped onto the scene in 2014. That's because the two hosts, Guy Montgomery and Tim Batt, centered the whole freshman year of the show by watching and reviewing the Adam Sandler movie Grown Ups 2. Once a week. Every week. For an entire year. Then they went on to do the same thing with Sex and The City 2, Sex and The City, We Are Your Friends, and the Emmanuelle franchise of softcore porn films. Their latest challenge? The Fast and Furious franchise. The franchise. In reverse order. While they still mostly go it alone – who else would want this crazy duty – they occasionally bring in people that are fascinated by their ordeal. Just last week, they dredged through the details of F9, as the 9th installment is lovingly known, with none other than comedian, actor, and soundcast host, performer, producer, and all-time most frequent guest Paul F. Tompkins. In our clip, Paul starts to explain the plot of the film as if he had to pitch it to a crowd of people fleeing a burning theater. Unpopular OpinionComedian and writer Adam Tod Brown and co-host Jeff bring you Unpopular Opinion every week. It's often relevant news and pop culture-related topics, of which the guys often have contrary perspectives. Back a few weeks ago, in December, they dropped an episode entitled “The Ballad of P22”, which was the designation of an storied and infamous mountain lion roaming the Los Angeles environs. They talk about P22's history and recent demise, some news stories about the Los Angeles city council, Dungeons and Dragons as therapy and the saga of Burnt Toast, which was the name of a cat that, well, just may have killed an alligator. Listen up… That's it for the clips this week but now is the time to get yourself ready for our next week's show, Episode 339, because it is Tyson Saner's ONE HUNDREDTH SHOW! I'm not sure what he's got in store but man, am I glad we have him. Speaking honestly, if Tyson hadn't accepted the challenge to jump in hear – first as a host to relieve me for a couple and then to alternate weeks with me since the start of the COVID pandemic, you would not have a Succotash Show to listen to today. So be sure to grab next week's show from this feed and don't be shy about sending in some congratulations, either on our @SuccotashShow Twitter and Instagram accounts but directly to him here at tyson@SuccotashShow.com! See you week after next. And, in the meantime, if you get pulled over by a police officer and you don't think you've done anything wrong, just wait until he strolls up to the car, roll down the window and expect him to ask, “Have you heard anything good lately?” At that point, won't you please pass him the Succotash? — Marc Hershon

Felicxan Novjaron, estas mi Tyson Saner, and I am not here for this episode. This is a trip back into the archives of Succotash — a "Second Helping", if you will — to ring in the new year with classic material! Happy New Year to you! Although I am not here right now I am recording this portion of the program so as to inform you what is going on. There are multiple origins and convergences of events and personalities to be listened to and we will be getting to them shortly. If you missed last week's installment of this very soundcast, Marc Hershon also served up a Succotash Second Helping from way back in @015. It was Episode 119, and featured his interview with comedian & actor Brian Haley. You can still retrieve it from any of the popular soundcast distribution points on the web, inclduing Apple & Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeart Radio, Soundcloud, You Tube, Podbay, Podchaser and, if all else fails, you can always, always, always track it down at our homesite, SuccotashShow.com, where we have an archive going back to the start of this show almost 12 years ago. This episode contains large portions of Succotash Chats Episode 173: "Bein' Social with Hunter Block". Originally published July 20th, 2018. This was the 10th episode of Succotash I put together as host of Succotash. I have excised the opening from around that time so don't have to suffer thru it, but I have left the outro part of my speech intact so that you'll at least partially understand what I am not subjecting you to at the beginning. Thank you for listening, I will probably have something newish for you in two weeks... and you can also tune in in about a week to Epi338 which will probably be brought to you by Mr. Hershon. Go to www.tysonsaner.com for bunches of content and follow me on TikTok under "tysonsaner" for little bits of content...and perhaps I could be persuaded to dance... Be decent to each other, enjoy this conversation from the past... "Thank you Bill Heywatt" We now return you to my conversation with Hunter Block already in progress. — Tyson Saner

First off, season's greetings and thank you to our announcer Bill Heywatt, our engineer, Joe Paulino, our booth assistant Kenny Durgis, and Succotash musical director Scott Carvey, and of course, our co-host Tyson Saner with whom it is my esteemed pleasure to share the every-other-weekly hosting duties on this here soundcast. We couldn't do it without our talented, hard-working crew – all working for peanuts. Literally, peanuts. That's all we can afford since we have no paying sponsors. (You can Venmo us a donation, if you like. For whatever amount you'd like. One dollar. Two. FIVE bucks? More? It's totally up to you, but if you Venmo it to me, Marc Hershon, @Hershco – h-e-r-s-h-c-o – it will be used for offsetting our production and hosting costs. I can also kick Tyson a few bucks. So we won't say no to Venmo!) I mentioned Tyson Saner and if you happened to miss last week's Epi333, he was in rare form. Fresh off some well-earned vacation time over Thanksgiving, he served up a quartet of clips from such shows as Tough Drafts; The Crazy Life; Barnes, Brenner & Fitzgerald, and The Bitter Sound with old pal of the show Davian Dent. You can still grab yourself a big handful of Succotash Episode 333 wherever finer soundcasts are streamed and/or downloaded, including Apple & Google Podcasts, Spotify, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Audible, iHeart Radio, YouTube, Amazon Music, PodBay, Podchaser, and at our SuccotashShow.com homesite, where we have that episodes and all of the other ones dating back almost 12 year in the Succotash archives. As for this week, my “Season's Clippings!” episode, I'm featuring a fivesome of fine feathered clips from the soundcasts Hey, Riddle, Riddle; Jordan Klepper Fingers the Conspiracy, Man Thinkers, our old friends over at The Salty Language Podcast AND an old friend with a new show, Fandom! The Podcast! In addition, we're putting aside those freebie spots from Henderson's Pants this week, to bring you word about something truly new, unique, and wonderful. It's our own Bill Heywatt offering his master class…on running master classes. CLIPS Fandom! The PodcastI had pretty much pulled all the clips together for this episode and was getting ready to record when I happened to have a text exchange with a couple of old friends of mine from my sketch comedy days in North Hollywood with a group called Fries On The Side. Kenny Stevenson and Dorien Davies have been special guests on Succotash WAY back in Episode 20(!) Anyway, we were texting about something or another and Kenny mentioned that he and another old chum, Alex Enriquez, had just started a new soundcast. Kenny used to co-host a sports soundcast called Knuckle Sanwich – great title – but that had been down for a while. So he and Alex have started a new show – right up my alley as they cover a lot of super-nerdy pop culture territory – and I just got this clip in under the wire for this episode. Their show is called Fandom! The Podcast, from the Fan Controlled Network, and their most recent episode talks a lot about the new Willow streaming show on Disney+. Jordan Klepper Fingers the ConspiracyOne of the best forces for pseudo-journalism goodness has got to be Jordan Klepper, who's been a fixture on Comedy Central's The Daily Show for years. He's got a six-episode limited-run soundcast under the Comedy Central banner called Jordan Klepper Fingers The Conspiracy, where he digs deep into some of the wildest MAGA theories he's heard and, according to the show's description, “traces their origins with journalists, experts, and anyone who might have a lead on when JFK Jr. is coming back. The soundcast offers an opportunity to better understand some of the most extravagant stories Americans tell themselves.” In Epi5 of the series, Jordan wades deep into the history and mystery that is “Hunter Biden's Laptop.” We have a sample… Hey Riddle RiddleI'll be the first to admit this, but some soundcasts get past me. Maybe I'm not paying attention or maybe it's because there are a couple hundred THOUSAND of them out there now. But I'm really ashamed to ‘fess up to missing Hey Riddle Riddle, mainly because it's hosted by a trio of improv and sketch performers and those are MY people. Adal Rifai, Erin Keif, and John Patrick Coan are Chicago-based and they've been doing Hey Riddle Riddle for at least 4 years now. Out of the Headgum Studios, their homesite only has shows through their 4th anniversary show, which dropped this past August 27th. But there are still fresh installments coming out, available on Apple Podcasts, etc. What is Hey Riddle Riddle, for those of you who are like me and in the dark? Their show's description on Apple Podcasts reads, “Riddles! Puzzles! WhoDunnits! Adal Rifai, Erin Keif and John Patrick Coan, three of Chicago's most overrated improvisers, are on the case to solve every riddle, puzzle, brainteaser, and head-scratcher known to humanity. Some riddles are almost impossible, some are absolutely improbable, and some simply have not aged well. And if you don't like riddles, don't worry! This podcast is barely about them!” I bring you a pull from their 4th season finale episode where they get into guessing movie title mashups. The Salty Language PodcastIf you've been a listener to this soundcast for any appreciable length of time, you know that both Tyson and I do have our favorites out there in Soundcastland. So we occasionally show them a bit more love than some of the other shows we feature. Tyson just played a bit last episode from our chum Davian Dent from England. I often talk with Jabs AKA Jason McNamara in Australia. And other folks like Hunter Block from Anti Social Show, Ethan Dettenmeier of Combat Radio, Ed Wallick from the hiatus'ed Don't Quit Your Daycast, and Travis Clark from, originally, Tiny Odd Conversations. A few shows retweet OUR tweets religiously – like The Jock Doc Podcast and I Shake My Head with Lisa and Sam. So I want to do them a solid and recognize their place in our Soundcast Society, too, which is why we're featuring a clip from a recent installment of The Salty Language Podcast. Hosted by Tony and Bryan, this show has been around probably as long as Succotash. Sluggin' out the episodes one after the other. The show's simple description on their homesite reads, “A soundcast about pop culture, living life, and anything else in our tiny brains.” This clip is about one of the guys having made it to his first in-person medical checkup since COVID started. Man ThinkersIt's hard to tell if the attitude of the hardcore male chauvinist is on the run or just biding its time. I'd like to think that kind of backwards attitude that men have towards women is being eclipsed by something more forward-thinking. Whatever the case, it's a way of thinking that soundcasters are having fun ripping on in a variety of ways. One of those is an iHeart Radio production, a show called Man Thinkers, featuring George Collins and Dan Finklestein. Here is how the show is described over on Apple Podcasts: “Man Thinkers is a podcast where the facts...are up for debate. For decades, the lamestream media has prevented real men from sharing their knowledge. On Man Thinkers, there are no degrees and no rules. The hosts aren't impressed by run-of-the-mill ‘experts.' Man Thinkers is a new space populated by iconoclastic thinkers, academic renegades, and media personalities that sound unlike anything else. Cable news is for the old and social media has become too toxic to trust. George and Dan courageously have the tough conversations that mainstream media won't touch. Man Thinkers is a safe space from safe spaces, nothing is off limits.” In a recent episode that dropped back on November 24th of this year, George and Dan had two women on the show: Liz Plank and Monica Padman. Lis is a Canadian journalist, author, and soundcast host. Monica is an actor, podcast producer and co-host – you've heard her on here before when we've clipped Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. The Man Thinkers had them on to talk about women freezing their eggs. Here's how part of the conversation went… That's it for the clips this week. If you've got a comedy soundcast and you'd like us to feature a clip, you don't have to wait for us to wade through those hundreds of thousands of shows to find you – you can make your own 3-5 minute clip and upload it directly to us at http://hightail.com/u/Succotash! That's gonna do it for Epi334 but if you want to hear what's coming up next, just hang arounds this feed until next week when Tyson Saner shows up with Episode 335 and lays it on you. Tyson's next episode is our Christmas present to you, as a matter of fact. And MY next show will be that after-Christmas great buy you get immediately after. Have yourself a fantastic holiday season. And remember, if som jolly fat guy in a red suit with white trim should happen to pop up next to your bed one night soon and whisper into your ear, “Have you heard anything good lately?”, it just might be Santa Claus wanting to find something decent to listen to on his way back to the North Pole, so won't you please pass him some milk, cookies, and Succotash? — Marc Hershon

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Epi 327 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I am your host for the duration of this program and I've got some clips for you…as this is a "clips" episode of Succotash. Last week in Episode 326, Executive Producer and creator of this 11+ years-old soundcast, Marc Hershon, sat down with returning guest Dana Carvey to talk about his upcoming soundcast "The Weird Place" amongst other things. It's a pretty entertaining time as always, and you can still find that episode to listen to over at our homesite www.succotashshow.com or wherever you might usually find the soundcasts you listen to, including where you found us…assuming that you found us at Stitcher, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Deezer, iHeart Radio, and even Spotify apparently. But, that was last episode, and this is this episode, and this episode has clips from various soundcasts from around the internet, specifically Add to Cart, I, Podius, and 2 Spooky 2 Handle. I've also got a classic FAKE advertisement from our faithful, longtime FAKE sponsor Henderson's Pants for you that has proved to be pretty evergreen…somewhat unfortunately in spots. I will let you decide for yourself what those unfortunate spots are. Alright, without further delay, let's get to the clips… Add to Cart with Kulap Vilaysack & SuChin PakI think this is the first soundcast I've clipped from Lemonada Media. "Here's what the show's official description has to say: Join the hosts of Add to Cart, comedian-writer-director Kulap Vilaysack and veteran journalist SuChin Pak, in a subversive take on consumerism. Each week, they have honest, revealing (sometimes TMI) conversations about all the big and little things they're adding to, or removing from, their carts. They decide what's worth the monetary/emotional investment, and what's not. From beauty products and health trends, to celebrities and philosophies they're passionate about, our hosts dig into anything we buy into and what it says about who we are." This clip is from the recently aired episode that dropped on September 27th of this year, entitled "Add to Cart: Baby" And host Ku has some personal news. With a full heart (and cart), she's getting ready to welcome home a new member of the family! And of course, she's sharing what's in her cart for this life-changing occasion. (Please note, Add To Cart contains mature themes and may not be appropriate for all listeners.) I, Podius A twelve episode weekly series, I,, Podius, featureshosts John Hodgman and Elliott Kalan recapping the BBC miniseries I, Claudius, an adaptation of Robert Graves' "I, Claudius" and "Claudius the God". The gimmick? John's watched the show before. Elliott's watching for the first time. The miniseries features an obscenely talented ensemble cast, and is chock full of sex, backstabbing and murder. This ain't your daddy's I, Claudius!. Well, actually it is as the series premiered in 1976. But this ain't your daddy's I, Claudius-based podcast! Parental discretion advised. Our clip is from the very first episode, "A Touch of Murder"/"Family Affairs", which dropped back on February 17th of 2020 - just about a month before all the COVID trouble started. Earwolf Presents: 2 Spooky 2 HandleFrom the show's description: "Are you tingling 4 terror? Slutty 4 slashers? Freaky 4 fright?! Mano Agapion and Betsy Sodaro are bringing you their classic, stupid love of all things horror all month long to Earwolf Presents! There will be possessed dolls, haunted houses, updates from your favorite monsters, and the ultimate villain showdown in our March Madness style SCARY BOWL! Follow @Earwolf on Twitter for more #2Spooky2Handle updates!" This clip hails from just back around the corner a few weeks - October 6th of this month, to be exact. It's called "Ghost Haunting is Like Dating". In the first episode of this special spooky series, hosts Betsy and Mano buy a possessed doll to haunt Earwolf Studios, check in with their favorite monsters (featuring Lauren Lapkus), and decide on the ultimate villain in the SCARY HORNY BOWL. And there it went, the last episode of Succotash. That I will be hosting. Before Halloween 2022. Because the next time I host it will be into November. Recently, I released an October Special Non-Sequential episode of Anti Social Show, which I co-host with Hunter Block, and we made a video-only episode specifically for YouTube. It is an exploration of Halloween Themed A.I. art that I generated in advance of our recording. You can find that episode at www.tysonsaner.com or you can go to YouTube and Google my name and Halloween and the show I am talking about should pop up where you can find it. Next week in Episode 328, Marc will be back to bring you something else to listen to that is most likely to be entertaining in some way to you. In the meantime, if you liked what you heard from us, there is a LOT more hearing to be had…or heard…in our back catalog. It goes back 11 years. You might also consider giving us a decent review in whatever format your particular listening platform makes available for that specific function. And hey…if someone asks you if you have heard anything good or interesting lately, and either of those stipulations makes you think of us…won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, Episode #323. Welcome! I'm glad you made it. Last week on Epi322 of Succotash, show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon, whom I alternate hosting duties with, brought you a quartet of clips for a show that he titled "Interesting Behaviors". The clips were from the soundcasts known as My Neighbors Are Dead, The Doug Stanhope Podcast, Sarah Halstead's Drinking During Business Hours, and Were You Raised By Wolves? They made for an enjoyable episode that I urge you to listen to at your earliest convenience. You can still find that episode and EVERY episode of Succotash going back to the first episodes from way back in 2011 at www.succotashshow.com and also on most soundcast streaming services including, but probably not limited to, Apple & Google Podcasts, Spotify, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeart Radio, PodBay, and Podchaser. This week's episode, "Autumn Triple Play", contains three clips, one of each from the soundcasts known as On The Rocks: Where Celebrities & Cocktails Mix, Gutting the Sacred Cow", and Chatabix. This week's show is broght to you by our longtime (and 100% FAKE SPONSOR) Henderson's Pants and their new Fancy Pants for Fops. Let's get to it. CLIPS Gutting The Sacred CowFrom the show's description: Standup comedians Kevin Gootee and Kevin Israel love films and they love arguing about them. But in this unique podcast; they invite guests to come in and argue why some of the most financially successful, beloved or acclaimed films are trash. But here's the twist, the film must meet 1 of these criteria: widely beloved, financial success, or critically acclaimed. So no dunking on Friday the 13th part 8, we all know that's an egregious piece of s--. We give a platform with those who have unpopular opinions to be bold enough to voice them. Some films that have faced scrutiny: Back to the Future, The Dark Knight, Toy Story, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the Matrix, and Die Hard. Can the guests persuade us? Or do we rip them a new one? Give us a listen and we'll easily prove that we belong on any top movie podcast list. My clip comes from very recently - September 17th, 2022 - Entitled "Noodles from the Offspring FLUSHES Christmas Vacation DOWN THE SEWER": Episode 152. joining Kevin Gootee as co-host for this installment is longtime friend Terry Loda. On The Rocks: Where Celebrities & Cocktails MixTV & radio personality Alexander Rodriguez, along with co-host Stephanie Erb, sips and chats with your favorite celebrities from TV, film, Broadway, music, reality TV and pop culture in this weekly, entertainment, no holds barred talk show. Academy Award, Emmy Award, Grammy Award, Tony Award, Golden Globe Award winners – Alexander's drank with them all! It's talk radio with a twist! Our clip is from back in the Spring of this year - March, to be a bit more precise - and is entitled Gedde Watanabe (Sixteen Candles, Mulan, ER) Chats Diversity in Hollywood. I really liked hearing this interview. I chose a clip from the very beginning of it because I do love a big, detailed introduction and when an interview has the amount of warmth that this one clearly does. Chatabix This was recommended to me by none other than Davian Dent of Strange Times Podcast (longtime friend of Succotash and frequently clipped.) What's the show about? Basically, comedians David Earl & Joe Gillingham chat drivel and nonsense. A shambolic Breakfast Show with Special Guests and regular contributors. The clip we have dropped on September 12th, 2022, featuring guest Doug Stanhope. Wow, it seems like only a few minutes ago I was writing the intro to the show and now this bit at the end needs writing as well. Isn't that the way of things? I do hope you found something enjoyable in the program tonight…I say "tonight" for a couple of reasons, one is that it is actually night when I am recording this part, and the other is because, more often that not, I used to say that regardless of what time of day it was when I recorded…and now I still do. I appreciate your taking some of your time out to listen to what I selected for you. If you are now inspired to learn more about the entertainments you were just exposed to, you are free to do that. Maybe you'll come back to listen to the next show which would be Epi324 and will most likely be hosted by Marc Hershon. Maybe you've already listened to #324 because it is far enough in the future that you are listening to the episodes backwards, or just generally out-of-sequence for whatever reason you choose. Maybe you are an electric audio archivist far into the future when myself and everyone else I know, or knew of, are long dead and you are navigating the audio virtually with A.I. generated art to represent us soundcaster ghosts visually in some way. In any of those scenarios I do hope you have the oppourtunity to share us with others. We'd really appreciate it. Maybe, in your present, I still have the webpage www.tysonsaner.com which you could visit to check out links to another soundcast I co-host with Hunter Block called "Anti Social Show". There are also links to my YouTube channel which mostly features videos of myself playing video games. At this point in history, it is September of 2022 so I've just recently published an episode where I play "Slime Rancher 2" and give my first impressions of it. And finally, maybe, when you are checking those things out you will remember that you listened to this show at some point and discovered a soundcast that you will listen to every episode that you possibly can of it. Sometimes it works that way. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other and please remember to pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, and I both happily and gratefully welcome you to this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, whose number is 306. Could I have picked a clunkier way to say that? … Perhaps so. It's hard to say. It is, however, VERY easy to say "thank you for listening" so I'll do that now. Thank you for listening, if you've made it this far into the intro I think we will get along just fine. I share hosting duties of this podcast roughly every other week with Marc Hershon who created this show 11 years ago to showcase other folks' podcasts in a "Whitman's Sampler"-style format, and last week in Epi305 Mr. Hershon did just that with an episode called "Clips on a Whim" that featured a quartet of clips from the soundcasts Entry Level, Last Things First, Parks and Recollection and Timesuck!. It's a fun episode and I encourage you to listen to it at your earliest convenience via services like Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Audible, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Podchaser.com, Podbay, YouTube, and on our own homesite, SuccotashShow.com This week I've got clips for you from the soundcasts The JV Club with Janet Varney, The Writers Panel and The Boogie Monster. I've also got an ad from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants and their Wake Island Abbreviated Trouser kicking around somewhere so that should round out the episode nicely. CLIPS The JV Club with Janet Varney From the show's official description: "Remember what it was like to be an awkward teenager? And remember how some things haven't really changed that much for you since then? Join proud dork Janet Varney as she explores the highs and lows of the bygone years with some of her favorite women as they talk their way through the terrible teens into adult-lescence." Although the episode I'm clipping dropped on May 28th, 2020 with guests Kaitlin Huwe & Stephanie Erb, I'd be remiss to mention this soundcast published what looks to be their 500th episode in late April…which is a pretty tremendous milestone, so I would like to extend a belated "Congratulations!" to them. Janet is an old friend of Succotash, with her show being first clipped way back in Episode 23, and then again in Episode 115. In addition, she chatted with my co-host Marc Hershon in between those appearances, in Epi97 during his visit to one of the Los Angeles Podcast Festivals. In this installment, Janet welcomes both Kaitlin and Stephanie (Therapy With Pami) for a chat about growing up in one place vs. moving all over, and all the things that come with both. Top hats! Frizzles! Bread, bread, bread! The Writers PanelThe definitive insider's guide to our current golden age of television, Ben Blacker's The Writers Panel is an ever expanding anthology of live convention panels and intimate in-studio interviews with the writers, producers, and show runners responsible for all the shows you can't stop watching. I clipped a sample from the October 6th, 2020 show, featuring a panel interview with Mary Laws (Monsterland), Brannon Braga (Books of Blood), & Matt Morgan (Helstrom), with Mr. Blacker serving as the host. (Ben was the co-creator of the long-running Thrilling Adventure Hour, and was a special guest back in the Dawn of Succotash for Episode 37.) The Boogie MonsterOur final clip of the episode is The Boogie Monster, hosted by comedians Kyle Kinane and Dave Stone, mainly talking about ghosts and barbecue and maybe interviewing people and maybe having had a few drinks before they started recording. (While these gents are not exactly old friends of the show, we have featured clips from The Boogie Monster twice previously, in Episodes 181 and 225.) This clip is from their May 10th, 2022 show, "Live from Humboldt County". Kyle and Dave are live from Savage Henry Comedy Club in beautiful Humboldt County, California. They get into some Squatch talk with local wizard, Dr. Foxmeat, and Robert Leiterman and Rowdy Kelly of The Bluff Creek Project. And that brings us neatly to the end portion of this program. I do hope you find something to enjoy while listening. Soundcasting has become such a huge part of the world of entertainment in the last 11 years since "Succotash" began… it's really fascinating to me, right now, in this moment. It's a legitimate cultural phenomenon that shows no signs of ceasing to be a thing…and why would it? I wonder what- if any - long-term societal effects of this format will be on the generations of listeners and content providers? Will the world survive long enough to look back on this period of time with any sort of nostalgic fondness? … Well, I suppose that remains to be seen. If you enjoyed this program, won't you take a moment to rate and/or review us wherever that applies? There's a whole archive of episodes going back to 2011 with some pretty quality content, much of which is, if nothing else, historical audio documents of the time in which they were made… more or less. Until next time, Thank you for listening, Be Decent to Each Other, go to www.tysonsaner.com to find other stuff I've been working on over the years including gaming videos, music and a whole other soundcast called Anti Social Show that I co-host with Hunter Block, and if you happen to be asked if you have heard anything interesting lately, and we come to mind, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner and I will be your host for this episode of Succotash that numbers 304. Last week in Epi303, my co-host and your more-or-less every-other-show host Marc Hershon brought you a "Chats" episode that featured a conversation with Pat Hazell, who — as described by Mr. Hershon in last week's episode description — "is a multi-hyphenate threat as they used to say: comedian-writer-director-producer, and (as of the pandemic)host of a soundcast called Creativity in Captivity. It's a terrific episode with some fascinating conversation and I encourage you to listen to it when you get the chance, assuming you have not already done so. Succotash also has a format that we refer to as "Clips" episodes and this one that you are listening to right now is one of those. This week I went out and clipped a trio of other people's soundcasts for you. I've got clips from the shows Hello Wonderful, Prolly Shoulda Known Better, and That Happens. I've also got a classic commercial from our longtime FAKE sponsor Henderson's Pants'; Republfit Pants for you, just in time for the midterm primaries! CLIPS Hello Wonderful Dr. Terry Dornak, PsyD (a member of the Queer Community herself) chats with a different guest from the queer community each week as they tell a story from their life. She's looking to fight and break stigma and stereotypes about the Queer/LGBTQ+ community with the stories revealed on the show. "It is time we take back the power that has been taken from the Queer community," writes Dr. Dornak in the show's description.  The clip is from the episode that dropped back on April 23rd, 2022, entitled "Hmm, Would I Rather Get Lost in the Amazon or Deal with Florida Politics?" The guest is Jayme Bean: an author, parent, traveler, zookeeper, and reluctant fireworks watcher. Her book, Untouched, is a queer adventure novel that tell the thrilling journey of 2 graduate students who are lost in the Amazon. Beware of curses, animals, bugs, and Bi-sex oh my! Prolly Shoulda Known BetterAs the show description says, this soundcast is celebrating comedy that has aged very poorly. Hosted by Nadia Vazquez and Tony Ginocchio. Our clip is from the show from December 22, 2021 when Tony and Nadia closed out the Disney season with a Christmas selection from the Disney+ era, and a prime example of current-world Disney cranking out worthless chum for their endless content scroll, starring a “worthless chum” in the form of a British child actor with negative charisma, surrounded by talented comedians who try so hard to save this movie and fail miserably. That Happens The show's description says it all, mostly: "Rising from the ashes like some sort of podcasting phoenix, hosts Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway?) and Spencer Crittenden (Harmontown) embark on the most courageous and groundbreaking mission ever conceived: Talking into microphones. Join our heroes as they fearlessly wade into a myriad of topics and takes as they crack wise and make merry, with and without special guests. Oh, also they play dungeons and dragons sometimes. That happens! A podcast!" We clip a chunk from the June 10th, 2021, episode "Side Character Eyes". By the time you reach the end of the show, I do hope you find something to enjoy in all of this. Maybe you will be inspired to seek out more content from the soundcasts featured in this program, maybe you will be inspired to start your own soundcast…and if you do, and I happen to hear it…I just might clip it for a future episode of Succotash. It's hard to say… BTW, I have a newer soundcast that I've been trying to put together for a couple years now. It is more-or-less geared toward mental health and wellness and It's called Happiness or Something Like It. It actually debuted as a ".5" episode of another soundcast I host with a friend of mind called Hunter Block. At any rate, you can find the YouTube version of it posted here. In the meantime, thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and if someone happens to ask if you'd heard anything interesting lately and we spring to mind won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, and I will be your host for the duration of this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast that numbers 294. How are y'all doing? I don't usually get political on this show or on my other soundcast Anti Social Show that I co-host with Hunter Block...and I am not about to now. I'll save that for about 25% of my Twitter feed. If you are tuning into this show then that means you are either here by accident, or you know that this show features interviews with people in comedy, podcasting, and "other show biz folk" as is mentioned by our announcer Bill Heywatt. For example, last week in show 293 hosted by executive producer and show-creator Marc Hershon, a chat with Tim Bedore was the feature. You can listen to that episode pretty much anywhere you can find soundcasts including the show's homesite at www.succotashshow.com. The show does feature interviews fairly regularly, but in most episodes we feature clips of other people's soundcasts so that, if you are looking for other things to listen to but aren't sure where to start, then perhaps one of the shows that we offer to you in a Whitman-sampler fashion will be the next thing you seek out to hear. That's the theory, anyway. I've got three clips for you in this episode from the soundcasts Wheel of Randy - A Randy Newman podcast, Podcast Killed the Video Star, and The Hollywood Experience. Also, my birthday is coming up for me, but will have already passed by the time you hear this...providing that a certain Russian leader doesn't nuke us between now and then. I told you, I don't usually get political. It's the existential crisis that sometimes bring stuff bubbling to the surface of ...uh... me. OH, and there is a advert for Henderson's Pants Bicentennial Pants coming later in the episode that I usually play around this time of year because it was created around this time back in 2020. CLIPS Podcast Killed The Video Star What in the TR-Hell is going on here!? Listen to a pair of Qweirdos (Oscar Montoya & Mano Agapion) on a quest to find the 100 best music videos ever made! AND YOU'RE GONNA HELP! Every week they watch, discuss, and tear apart three music videos. Then the listeners/watchers will decide which one of those three videos will progress to next round by voting on their Instagram account! The clip I've selected comes from this past November 20th, 2020 - Episode 1, entitled "She Done Already Done HEARD Herses". The Hollywood Experience Actor, producer, and director Adrian Paul, who has over 200 hours of television and more than 35 film credits to his name, talks with actors, comic book creators, martial arts masters, showrunners, stunt professionals, and many others who have helped shape some of the most famous action films and TV shows in pop culture history. Our clip is from just over a year ago, January of 2021, and features writer/martial artist/and creator of Combat Radio(as well as friend of Succotash) Ethan Dettenmaier! WHEEL OF RANDY - A Randy Newman Podcast A Randy Newman discussion podcast. Every episode, host Dan Wade and a guest discuss two Randy Newman songs - one chosen by the guest, one chosen at random. Spin the WHEEL OF RANDY! This clips hails from March of last year, entitled "The Missing Third Rock Episode --- Simon Smith and the Amazing Dancing Bear with Lucas Ross". Lucas Ross (KFOR, KAUT, American Banjo Museum) joins Dan to talk about the latest in banjo news, the perils of being THAT GUY ON TEEVEE, and Muppets Muppets Muppets! And, hey! ... There's another episode done and dusted. I do hope you found something enjoyable or, at the very least, interesting along the way. If you did, and you are now inspired to go in search of other soundcasts, then we have served our main purpose. How would you feel about giving us some sort of rating or review? We'd feel great about it! We'd also feel great if, when you do go on to listen to something that you heard first here, you might let us know about it within those reviews or perhaps thru social media or something of that nature. We're pretty interactive. We have been for nearly 11 years now. So, if you do have a mind to share us with others, we can only appreciate it. That very act is exactly the sort of thing we mean when we ask you to please pass the Succotash! — Tyson Saner

Welcome. Marc Hershon here, your every-other-weekly host for Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. This is Episode 270 of the show that knows how…knows how to play clips of comedy soundcasts – a sort of Whitman's Sampler of audio treats, if you will – that gives you a chance to slip a taste of various soundcasts into your ears, take a nibble, and see if you don't want to go find the whole show and pig out, listening-wise. I had a week off from my day job for vacation last week and headed down to Los Angeles for some R&R. And I got a chance to hang out with some pals and chums, a few of them having been past visits to Succotash, including Travis Clark, Francis Cronin, Jon Manfrellotti, Matt Weinhold, Rick Overton, and Dana Carvey. It was a lot of fun, got a lot of nothing done, and feel rested up and ready to clip! Last week in this feed, for Epi269, my classy, crafty, and cogent co-host Tyson Saner not only served up some crispy clips from soundcasts Gluten Free Gaming, The Spawn Chunks, and Coffee With Butterscotch, but he also shared a big chunk an interview with the very funny Andy Kindler that he conducted over on his other soundcast, Anti Social Show, along with his co-host there, Hunter Block. If you missed it somewhow, check out any of the usual soundcast distribution points like Spotify, Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Audible.com, and more – or just visit our homesite, SuccotashShow.com, where you can find every damn episode of Succotash dating back 10 years to when we started. Which leads me to what I have in store for your auditory senses today. I have clips from The Ajumma Show, Geto Boys Reloaded, and Household Faces. In addition, I came across this funny musical clip comedian, actor, and perhaps future guest on this show, Patton Oswalt, found by Nick Lutsko, who took a bunch of whackadoodle rants by ultra rightwing nutball Alex Jones and turn them into a folk song. And we have a couple of calls on the Succotash Not-So-Hotline, including a new Runaway Truck Ramp report that came in over the weekend from…me. Yes, me, recorded as I was driving north on Interstate 5 on my way home through the stretch commonly called the Grapevine. And, of course, we're sponsored by Henderson's Pants brand new Toddler Trow. Before we get into the rest of this episode, I have to admit that I'm a little late recording this installment and posting it, but that's given me the chance to get a word in here about the passing of great comedian Norm MacDonald. He was secretly battling cancer for 9 years and lost that fight this week. He was one prominent comedian on the scene I never got to meet personally, but we had a lot of mutual friends in common and everyone has told me, over the years, what a great, crazy, funny guy Norm was. Germane to our show, he hosted an audio and video soundcast, Norm MacDonald Live, from 2013 to 2016, where he was interview guests – mostly friends from the comedy and acting world. Here's a clip I featured back in Succotash Episode 89 – two comedy greats we will never hear or see perform live again – Norm MacDonald interviewing Carl Reiner. CLIPS The Ajumma ShowOur first clip comes from The Ajumma Show, featuring a pair of queer – their words, no mine - Chicago comedians, Peter Kim & Eunji Kim. Peter actually started out as a San Francisco improvisor and took classes from me at the San Francisco Comedy College before helping to found the Endgames improv company. He then went on to Chicago. The Ajumma Show is a weekly soundcast examining love, politics, culture, personal victories, failures and sage advice through the judgmental glare of an ajumma. What's an ajumma? It's a Korean word for a married or middle-aged woman, which seems a little “judgy” itself.  I get the feeling it's someone who enjoys throwing shade on pretty much anything she doesn't like. In this clip, the Kims (who are not related) chat about racially specific activities. Geto Boys ReloadedI'm not exactly what you'd call a hip hop guy – I know, I know, hard to believe – and this next clip comes from a show that isn't exactly comedy, but when I saw that comedian Mike Epps was visiting hip hop legends Scarface and Willie D on their Geto Boys Reloaded soundcast, I figured it would be an excuse to bring a little culture into the room here. These guys tend to get a little deep, which is okay with me, as they converse about music, entertainment, social issues and awareness, among other topics. In our clip, the hosts and Mike get into their guest's story of leaving home for the first time and moving to Atlanta to start a career. Household FacesI just reviewed the show our next clip is from, Household Faces, for Vulture.com's This Week in Comedy Podcasts. (Obviously, Vulture hasn't gotten the memo on calling them “soundcasts”.) Hosted by charcter actor and improv comedian John Ross Bowie, he interviews other characters actors – those men and women with familiar faces that I am always pointing out to my wife when we're watching TV or movies and shouting, “I know that guy!” John got pretty well known from his appearances on The Big Bang Theory, and he recently spent three seasons as the dad on Speechless on ABC. The clip I grabbed is from the episode I reviewed featuring Xander Berkeley. Now, you may be saying, “I don't know from Xander Berkeley,” but you, sir or madam, would be wrong. This guy's been in over 200 movies and TV shows, including 24, The Walking Dead and, as they get into here, Terminator 2. That's what's in store for you in the latest installement of Succotash. If you stick around this feed next week, you'll catch Epi271 with co-host Tyson bringing you a swell collection of comedy soundcast clips and may some other surprises. Who knows? That's why they're called surprises! In the meantime, treat each other like humman beings, wash those hands, masks those faces, vax up and, if anyone asks if you've heard anything good lately, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Marc Hershon

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I am your host for this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, that numbers 269. Last week's Episode 268 was hosted by show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon who, in case you're new to Succotash, has been hosting shows every other week with me…or rather I have been doing so with him…for over a year now. It has been a great way to make sure there is a new show every week for people to discover, recommend, and just basically rely on for weekly entertainment. Speaking of "If you're new to Succotash", thank you for listening! If you listened to last week's show, you will already know that it was a chats episode with nary a clip to be found, but dense with conversational goodness to be listened to with none other than comedian, actor, and musician Rick Overton! That episode is called "Palaverin' with Rick Overton" appropriately and is well worth the listen. aside from being on Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, Podcast FM, PodBay, and others, it is also archived over at www.succotashshow.com as is every episode of Succotash that has been released in the last 10 years. This week's episode is a biggie for me. Literally the longest show I've put together for you since before the shorter, weekly format started back in 2020. It's clips and a big ole chunk of chat…I've got clips from the soundcasts Gluten Free Gaming, The Spawn Chunks, and Coffee With Butterscotch for starters, and then a rather sizable chunk from another soundcast I co-host with my friend Hunter Block called Anti Social Show. The clip features part of a conversation I was fortunate enough to have with comedian, actor, musician, and past Succotash guest (Epi55) Andy Kindler. I'm very excited to share that with you here. I would like to point out that this episode is themed in a particular way…and I wonder if you can figure out what that theme is by the end of the show? I guess we'll have to see, won't we? Anyway, let's get to it! Gluten Free GamingLisi and Lucy are two women who can't eat gluten and who want to share their favorite games with each other and everyone else! Join us as we subject each other to games and other nerdy media that we love and want to make everyone else love as well! Listen if you want to find the best gluten-free games available, or if you just want to hang. Our clip hails from  their very first  "Some Like it Honk - Untitled Goose Game" episode from August 2021 - just last month! The Spawn Chunks - A Minecraft Podcast Joel Duggan & Pixlriffs host The Spawn Chunks, a podcast all about Minecraft. We dig into Minecraft related news and development snapshots, explore game content and the Minecraft community, and craft our personal thoughts and experiences about the game we love. In a clip from their recent 150th episode (!), hosts Joel and Jonny share their thoughts on exploring the new Minecraft terrain generation in the first Caves & Cliffs Experimental Snapshot. Coffee with ButterscotchNow up to 325 episodes, Coffee with Butterscotch is the hilarity-filled official podcast of award-winning video game studio Butterscotch Shenanigans, an independent video game studio best known for its smash hit Crashlands. The podcast features founders Seth Coster (the games programmer), Adam Coster (the web programmer), Sam Coster (the artist), and other awesome people. Clipped from six years ago, Epi18 was when Sam is STILL stuck in the hospital, so in this episode had Adam and Seth carrying the torch and discussing all kinds of random crap. My question to you is, by the time you get to theend of this week's installment, will you be able to guess the theme of this particular show? Tweet @succotashshow and use the hashtag #Epi269Theme. The first 5 correct answers will receive shoutouts when I return in Epi271 with who knows what I'll have in store for you? Probably clips…maybe a chat…maybe a bit of both? I really don't know at this point in time. Anyway, I do hope you enjoyed your time and perhaps came away with a few new ideas of what to listen to next. There's plenty of shows in the archive at www.succotashshow.com and since they've been accumulating for over 10 years now, there's a rather unique overall audio documentary of the history of soundcasting…filtered thru the prism of other people's audio content from around the English-speaking parts of the globe. If you wouldn't mind writing a review of our show it would really help us out in getting inside the listening-space of as many people as possible. We'd really appreciate it. Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, Episode 267, I will be your host thru a small selection of soundcast clips for which to theoretically make you interested in hearing the full episode…or at least give you an idea of what to expect on whichever soundcast we happen to clip…that's the basic idea. Last week on Epi266 my co-host and every-other-show-host Marc Hershon brought his "A" game with a show full of "B"s. Not the buzzy things that pollinate flowers and make honey and such but many things that start with the letter "B" — including the return of one of my favorite segments "Boozin' with Bill" with our very own Bill Heywatt, and clips from the soundcasts Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast, The Bitch Bible, Breaking Bread with Tom Papa, and Brittlestar's Really Great Podcast.…There's even a small chat with friend of Succotash and longtime soundcaster Chris Mancini…who does not seem to have a single "B" in his name…but other than that little inconsistency, the episode and all of the content contained within it is top-notch. Check it out if you should be interested in doing so. This week, I've got clips from the soundcasts Screams and Moans, The Goods From The Woods, and Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster. There's also a classic Henderson's Pants advert for their patented Pain Pants kicking around somewhere in the rotation so y'all have got that to look forward to as well. (Real sponsors take note, we are in the market for one or more of you…as we have been for 10+ years.) Anyway, thank you for listening… CLIPS Screams and MoansThe podcast about movies and sex but not together because that would be porn. Our clips is from February of this year (2021) - the episode entitled "Second Time is Better". Friends of Succotash abound here, in cluding host Megan Pentecost and her guest, Jason "Jabs" McNamara from The Dhead Factor and Boganwood soundcasts. Our clip is them getting into the movie The Event Horizon. The Goods from the Woods Hosts Rivers Langley, Pat Reilly, and Mr. Goodnight head off on their intrepid aural expedition through the world of oft-forgotten pop culture, featuring personal tales and recollections on the theme from the hosts and their special weekly guests. (REC DATE: January 24th-25th, 2021) Yes, that's right, it IS our HUNDREDTH episode. It's episode #92 and it is, in fact ALSO the hundredth episode of "Anti Social Show" due to how some of the episodes are numbered. We are joined by none other than Actor, Musician, Artist, and Provocateur Andy Dick. Back at the end of January 2021, Mr. Dick was seemingly in full go-mode promoting his mockumentary "Tiger Dick" in which he portrays a Joe Exotic-inspired character. He agreed to be on the show and then, essentially, invited us to a party he was attending during our agreed-upon interview time. It was quite the experience. Please excuse the poor sound quality in much of what was recorded. It ended up being pretty fun, and Mr. Dick recorded more interview content for episode #238 of "Succotash Shut-In" the very next evening. You can find that at www.succotashshow.com Thank you for listening. Donations are always appreciated. There's a blue link on my main Soundcloud page if you were to be so inclined to help out. Cheers! Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to episode #249 which is the first official episode of Season 5 of Succotash: The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. That's right, it's season 5 and the show is no longer being called "Succotash Shut-In" as explained last week in Episode 248 which was our 10year anniversary show. Featuring Marc Hershon, Joe Paulino, Bill Heywatt, and yours truly in an extra-special conversation-and-trip-down-memory-lane extravaganza! I urge you to check out the episode if you haven't already. (I would like to point out that during that conversation I incorrectly stated that I had been contributing to "Succotash" since 2012. I looked in the archive and it turns out that I sent in 2 clips that were used in the episode from Apr 30, 2013, entitled Succotash Epi57: Boozin' With Bill (Again) which I will link here: https://succotash.libsyn.com/succotash-epi57-boozin-with-bill-again.) Oopsie. At any rate, that means in 10 days from when this episode is posted I will have been contributing to this program for 8 years. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused. This episode I've got clips for you from the soundcasts The Blood Buddies: Horror Podcast, Wack Brackets, and Daydrinking with Gary & Ellio‪t‬. We're also sponsored by Henderson's Parachute Pants 2.0. Now, let's get to the clippage… CLIPS The Blood Buddies: Horror Podcas‪t‬ Come join Brian and David every other Friday to discuss a horror movie based off of a theme from a roulette wheel. Our featured clip is from January 18, 2018, where the guys dissect the opening moment of "It Follows" (2015‪) from director David Robert Mitchell. Wack Bracket‪s‬ Asking the burning questions you never knew you wanted answered until host Mike asked them. We bring on fellow podcasters and friends of the show to bracket off similar contestants using irrelevant, ever changing questions. Pending FDA approval! This clip hails from Epi58 from April of last year - an episode entitled: "Redneck Events w/Trashy Trashy: Mutton Bustin‪'‬" with guests Erika Curry and Cassandra Cardenes. Daydrinking with Gary & Ellio‪t‬ A cocktails and comedy podcast featuring American comedy treasure Gary Anthony Williams, home mixologist Elliot Blake, and an entire raft of celebrity guests who stop by Gary's house for a daytime tipple. Every episode has an original cocktail, a funny, unrehearsed, heartfelt chit-chat, and sometimes a second cocktail. Our clip is from their Episode 29 back in January 18th, 2019 with guest Dana Snyde‪r from Adult Swim. Sidenote #1: This show has not posted an episode since Steely Dan Day of 2020… Steely Dan day, of course is May 19… Sidenote #2: We llast featured Daydrinking on Succotash Shut-In Epi207 last June. Well, that's it. The 1st show of season 5 in the can and in your ears…or EAR if it so happens that you only have one. And if you do, I appreciate you taking time to listen to this all the more. Your one ear has to do the work of a person with two ears and I'm not sure if most people that have two ears ever even take that into consideration…so for your consideration I am at LEAST twice as grateful. I think that's how the maths work…I'm pretty sure that's how gratitude works. This next season of "Succotash" is - as far as I know - is going to be released in the same fashion and with the same frequency of season 4 which is to say every week for the foreseeable future. So, tune in next week for Epi250 when show creator Marc Hershon is back hosting and bringing you content of clippage, chattage, or really whatever he would like to put in his episode. If you are listening to us through a streaming service of some sort and you'd like to listen to Succotash the moment it becomes available you can subscribe to us. I know that is how it works on Stitcher for example but I'm not 100% sure about the other methods. Could you do me a favor and check on that for me in case I forget to? I appreciate that a great deal. I'd also appreciate if you'd go to www.tysonsaner.com to find links to music, gaming videos, and the soundcast known as "Anti Social Show" which I co-host with Hunter Block. (Recently, Marc Hershon was a guest of "Anti Social Show" for EP91 which is called "Wordlike Objects with @hershco" because that is Marc Hershon's twitter account if you'd like to show him some love there.) Incidently, if you Google "Sounds By Tyson Saner" it is the easiest way to find "Anti Social Show" OTHER THAN going to the aformentioned website. Of course you can find the show's archive at www.succotashshow.com and feel free to do so. You are almost guaranteed to find something that you will enjoy listening to. If you in fact do, and you'd like to express your appreciation in some way, we would really appreciate it if you would share us with other people. Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 13, 2021 84:38

Welcome to this milestone episode of our little soundcast, which is – this week – celebrating TEN YEARS of doing whatever it is that we do. It made only be Episode 248 (maybe we didn’t drop installments quite as regularly as we should have for a big chunk of the past decade…), but it is still 10 friggin’ years of churning out that sweet, sweet soundcast magic. In honor of that, and the fact that we seem to be solidly on the downward side of the bell-shaped curve coming out of the coronavirus pandemic, the staff and management of this show have decided to return to our original title. Starting with this episode we are, once again Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. As we flip the first page on the next ten years, this is also now officially Season 5 – a fact you should see reflected in the refreshed show logo on the service where you’re downloading or streaming this show. If you’re a regular listener to Succotash (in or out of pandemic mode), you‘re savvy to the fact that we either play clips from comedy soundcasts around the web or that we do interviews with soundcasts, comedians, comedian/soundcasts, and other show biz folk. Well, this episode is going to be a little different. In observance of our decade of soundcastery, we’ve gotten a little self-indulgent. For the first time since we began, we’ve actually pulled together host Tyson Saner, producer/engineer Joe Paulino, booth announcer Bill Heywatt, and me, your humble executive producer and other host Marc Hershon. We cobbled together a multi-studio experience through Zoom and spend about an hour and a quarter talking about the show’s origins, the various features we've done, how Tyson came to us in the early going and got folded into our team, and more. We re-hash a classic old Boozin’ with Bill segment, in which our announcer almost poisoned himself and me with a noxious concoction so hideous it should have been criminal. Bill also favors us with a live show introduction, a live show close, and a live reading of a commercial from our long-running sponsor Henderson’s Pants – it’s an announcement of their release of a new product in honor of this show’s anniversary, Henderson’s Anniversary Pants. We also take a few minutes out to pay homage and send out love and healing energies to political and social comedian and commentator Will Durst,  longtime contributor to this show of our Burst O' Durst segment. Will suffered a severe stroke in the Fall of 2019 and is on the super-slow backroad to recovery. He's even getting back up a microphone now and again, and we play a little clip of his appearance from January on the San Francisco Points of View soundcast with Will Durst & Wille Brown. Will's recovery is a slow and expensive process. You can help out in a very real way by contributing to the GoFUndMe page that has been set up  as way to collect money to offset his hospital bills: https://www.gofundme.com/f/awukk-will-durst-needs-your-help Finally, interspersed within the show, we play some audio bouquets – well wishes from friends we’ve made during the last 10 years who have been featured either through clips, interviews and, in some cases, both. Those friends include: Cole Stratton, Dana Carvey, Davian Dent, Dean Haglund, Dom Risk, Dr. London Smith, Dr. Norman Trousers, Ed Wallick, Francis Cronin, Geoffrey Welchman, Hunter Block, Jason “Jabs” McNamara, Matt Knudsen, Matt WeinHold, Megan Pentecost, Phil Leirness, River Zambezi, Tommy Royal, and Travis Clark. Thank you, friends, for sending those along! That’s about it. We will continue to bring you clips of what we find out there in the soundcast wilderness, as well as chats with some of the interesting characters we collect along the way, each and every week. In return, if you’d be so kind as to rate and review Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast on Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, the Laughable app, YouTube, Podbay, or anywhere else you happen to listen to us. Next week, Tyson will be back with a sheaf of clips for you in Episode 249, and I’ll be diving in the week after that for Epi250 (!), and so forth. In the meantime, be good to each other and if anyone asks if you’ve heard any good soundcasts lately, p-lease be sure to pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash Shut-In — I am your every-other week host bringing you this episode which is enumerated #246. Last week my co-host and every-other-week show-host Marc Hershon brought you episode @245 which was a "Chats" episode featuring a conversation with comedian and comedy writer for television, Michael Rowe. It's an fun episode that I recommend you listen to by going to our homesite at www.succotashshow.com…of course if you are listening to this on a podcast service of some other kind such as Apple or Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app, iHeart Radio, or even YouTube, you should most definitely be able to listen to it and other episodes that way. If this is your first time here, thank you for listening. Aside from chats with notably interesting folks, episodes of Succotash have been known to feature clips of soundcasts from all over the English-speaking parts of the world. This episode is one of those types of episodes. I've got clips from the soundcasts The Brendan Fraser Podcast, Fascination Street, and The Bill Bert Podcast. I've also got a seasonally appropriate bit of advertising for the new Spring Breakers from our longtime sponsor Henderson's Pants for you. So, without further ado, let's get to the clips shall we? CLIPS The Bill Bert Podcas‪t‬ In their Episode 50 Bill Burr and Bert Kreischer prattle about shrooms, the royal family, and surf dreams. Our clip contains the beginning of the aformentioned shroom-prattling... Fascination Stree‪t‬ Hosted by Steve Owens, this soundcast introduces us to Fascinating People with Fascinating Stories. On March 14th, 2021, his guest is John Sylvain (Nooner) and a Game Creator (You Know It!‪) In our clip clip, the game You Know It! is discussed as well as Nooner which has been clipped on this program a few times in the almost 10 years that both that show and THIS show, Succotash have been in existence. The Brendan Fraser Podcas‪t‬ Hosts Karla and Daniel talk anything and everything Brendan Fraser. And in their Epi 20, entitled "Lemmy or God‪?‬", they've gotten around to discussing the movie Airheads.  In this clip the duo breakdown elements of the plot of the movie with some observations about it's place in comedy history and its cult-film status. That's what's in this week's installment. In April, Succotash will be celebrating 10 years of soundcasting. It's a little hard for me to believe it has been an entire decade. Maybe it is because my sense of time is somewhat more acute as I scrape the underside of 50…with three years to go admittedly but really, it feels close enough to me…and it only gets closer with every passing moment. I started listening to podcasts around 2008 and have been participating or interacting with them in various ways since then. In October, my friend Hunter Block and I will have been creating our own soundcast, one Anti Social Show, for 5 years…incidentally, you can find links to that show and pretty much everything I currently have published sound or videowise at www.tysonsaner.com… This last year was dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic and this year has pretty much continued to be. Vaccines are finally available tho' so…that's a good thing. Thank you again for listening, tune in next week for Marc Hershon's episode 247, wear a mask, wash your hands, be decent to each other, and if you like the show's format and think other folks might also…please pass the Succotash! — Tyson Saner

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I'll be your host this week on Epi238 of Succotash Shut-In which you are currently listening to. Last week in Epi237, show creator Marc Hershon had a conversation with returning guest and friend o' the show Chris Mancini. I urge you to check out that conversation. This week I have a hybrid show of sorts for you. I have a partial chat with none other than actor, songwriter, artist PROVOCATEUR…Andy Dick! (Full disclosure: We had severe technical difficulties while attempting to record and he had spent more than an hour the previous night soldiering thru similar sound difficulties on our end during an appearance on one of my other soundcasts Anti Social Show which I co-host with Hunter Block who was a guest on Succotash in Epi173: "Bein' Social with Hunter Block". Anyway, the audio we recorded that previous night will be featured in the hundredth episode of Anti Social Show but since that won't be releasing for at least a month, I wanted to follow up with Mr. Dick so that he could tell us about his current project Tiger Dick. There will be more context for that later.) I did say this show was a hybrid, and that is because I've also got three clips for you. I've got clips from Jock Doc Podcast, Battle of the Bald, and Trashy Trashy. There will also be an ad from our longtime fake sponsor "Henderson's Pants" and what will likely be the last reading from "TrumPoetry.com" which is a website that ABSOLUTELY exists, and there is a DOOZY capping off the whole ordeal it documents in poetic format which I will sample for you as it is too long to be included in it's entirety in this episode. CLIPS Jock Doc Podcast (featuring Dr. London Smith) Longtime listeners of Succotash might recall that Jock Doc Podcast was featured on the program back in Epi223: Revuein' Some Movie Review 'Casts (from) Oct 6, 2020. They are part of a small but mighty group of soundcasters who take the initiative to send us a clip of their show thus making it easier for us to listen to them and we did and do appreciate that sort of thing. As they have been very supportive to Succotash in the last six or so months I thought to myself "Yeah, I should probably clip something from them for Succotash..." and here it is, for those who have never heard that episode I will read the description from iTunes: "Improvised comedy with the premise of being a medical education podcast. Typical episodes include a medical topic, short sketches, and a strange guest. Listen as Dr. London Smith (.com) and his producer Cameron discuss medical topics with guests that Cameron finds not so boring!" Our clip is from January 17th, 2021, with Dr. London Smith and his producer Cameron discuss "Cor Pulmonale" with special guest Dr. Bill Butler Yeast (Neil Curran). Not so boring! Before the discussion of the titular condition there is a bit of chat in service of listener feedback which is the feature of this clip. Battle of the Bald This is the first time that this soundcast has been featured on Succotash Shut-In but it is no wonder as it's all extremely NEW. It's description reads: "A six-episode scripted comedy series about a young lab assistant who accidentally invents a permanent cure for hair loss and changes the world. The series was written and produced by Tyler Eaton and the first two episodes came out Monday, January 11th, with new episodes every Monday through February 8th." It stars Rebecca Usoro, Connor Cacciottolo, Jackie Kashian, Eddie Pepitone, Kyle Kinane, Olivia Hill, Shannon Dee and more. Our clip is from Epi1, called "Lab Rats", in which Sean Applewhite had seemingly found a miraculous cure for hair loss. The resulting product, Revitalize, skyrocketed him to fame and fortune. But when his fill-in assistant Francine stumbled upon a treasure... Trashy TrashyThis soundcast was previously featured in Epi216: Clippin' The COVID Blues Away from August of 2020, and Cassandra Cardenes was recently a guest during this past holiday season in our Epi234: Christmasin' with Cassandra Cardenes. The description of the show: A podcast for garbage people. We cover trashy news stories. Hosted by Cassandra Cardenes and Erika Curry. Our clip hails from just a couple of weeks back in January of this year, and it's been chosen to provide more context for the bit of chat with Andy Dick that follows it. And here we are again at the end of another episode. This one was pretty fun to put together. This episode was being written and assembled at the end of the crazy month of January 2021. It's being released in early February and I don't know if there is a release date for Tiger Dick yet but you can keep watching Andy Dick's Twitter @andydick and you can go to andydick.com for updates presumably and all things Andy Dick ...that are on the website. We have a website too where you can find what is somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 years worth of shows taking you thru the various iterations of Succotash as it brought you a relatively small portion of the ongoing history of soundcasting. Next week, join Marc Hershon for Ep239, I'm sure he will have something worth your while. We appreciate you. We appreciate your listening and your support over the years. If you wouldn't mind reviewing us for iTunes, Stitcher, Google Podcasts or wherever one can review soundcasts we would really appreciate it a great deal. Aside from showing us you love us by telling people about us, it's one of the other things that really helps us get to more ears in the coming years. Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to the soundcast known as Succotash Shut-In: The Soundcast Stimulus Package. It's Season 4, Episode 232, and I've got some clips for you from three soundcasts I've been listening to recently, namely Sam Pancake Presents the Monday Afternoon Movie, Puppet Tears: Puppetry Shop Talk, and Good For You with Whitney Cummings. There's also going to be a reading from "TrumPoetry.com" and a spot from our other original fake sponsor Henderson's Pants and their brand new Holiday Pants. By the way, Epi231 featured bloopers from 5 soundcasts which were Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, A Paranormal Chicks, Roll Out!, Who Back When, and Voyage to the Stars. It was a very entertaining episode hosted by Marc Hershon with whom I alternate hosting duties with weekly. You can find it in the same place you found this soundcast or any of the other options available for soundcast listening including, but not limited to: Apple or Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, iHeart Radio, the Laughable app, etc. There's also the homesite at www.succotashshow.com or at succotash.libsyn.com where you can find all the shows dating back to 2011. As I'm recording this, it's early December of 2020, a year that has been possibly the worst year in recent memory since…like 2016? That was pretty bad. 2014 wasn't great either come to think of it. And 2012 everybody was talking about the "end of the world…" Actually, I remember 2012 having some bright spots. It's the year I met Ethan Dettenmaier of Combat Radio and, as a result, I met many other guests of Combat Radio including Marc Hershon who was at that time the host of a show called Succotash, The Comedy Podcast Podcast, which subsequently became Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast and then, eventually, Succotash Shut-In which you are listening to now. I also met Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness of Chillpak Hollywood Hour of whom this program has featured clips and with whom this show and many of it' contributors have collaborated with over the years. In fact I took part in a 28-hour "Mayan Marathon" that Chillpak held live on the internet counting down the hours until the impending apocalypse. I remember taking photos in realtime as a way to commemorate the occasion… if there was, in fact, a world after said apocalypse where my iPad 2 had both survived intact but also had a charge…That was a really good time… 2012 was also the year I met Hunter Block on Twitter. We became friends and, as of October of 2016, co-hosts of a soundcast called Anti Social Show which is still releasing episodes as time moves steadily on. So, there are a couple of bright spots from 2012 and 2016… I guess what I'm getting at is that all years have their bright spots in some way or another for someone or another and it is important to remember that when things get really dark. In 2020 I got to spend most of my time with a special little guy named Jareth as he entered his toddler stage. I consider these recent memories to be of truly the happiest moments I have ever had in this life that I've had so far. I don't think I could be more grateful for these bright spots than I am…but I can always try. Anyway, thank you for listening…or reading if this is the episode blog. CLIPS Puppet Tears: Puppetry Shop Talk The soundcast Puppet Tears feature hosts Adam Kreutinger and Cameron Garrity having in-depth interviews with the world's most passionate puppeteers. On March 27th of last year - 2019 or "Pre-pandemic as it's become known - Ryan Dillon stopped by for a jam-packed episode of the show. OUr featured clip is from their chat with this Muppet performer on Sesame Street, perhaps best known for performing Elmo since 2013. Good For You Comedian Whitney Cummings interviews guests (friends, comics, celebs, experts, weirdos) every week. Known for her standup comedy specials for HBO and Netflix, Comedy Central Roasts, multiple television series and films, Whitney has a lot of questions for a lot of different kinds of people. She also has opinions. And a robot. Epi57 from November of this year featured guest Meghan Tainor and, in our featured clip she and WHitney strained to remember Milli Vanilli and whatever became of them…with varying degrees of accuracy. Sam Pancake Presents the Monday Afternoon MovieActor/comedian Sam Pancake sits down with friends famous and funny to discuss the surreal, silly and nonetheless star-studded made-for-TV movies of the 1970s. It's a loving look at baffling not-quite-feature-length flicks that often aren't on DVD and have largely been lost to time. IN November of last month Sam welcomed comedian Dave Holmes on to talk about The Night Stalker - not th eTV series but teh 1972 TV movie that served as the pilot for the show starring Darren McGavin which was to follow. It influenced generations of subsequent paranormal-themed TV shows, but does it hold up today? Not so much, says Holmes, who objects to this take on vampire horror being so decidedly unsexy and overstuffed with middle-aged white dudes. And here we are again, together at the end of the show…wondering what the future will bring. Well, there are more soundcasts out there to listen to and share with you for one thing. If all goes well, COVID-19 will be eradicated, or at the very least manageable, treatable, preventable…rather than what it seems to be which is "inevitable". It is the Xmas season right now as anyone with an active radio can't avoid noticing…So many holiday tunes out there. Many people don't know this but I actually wrote a Christmas song called "For Christmas" waaaay back in 2014 for a charity Christmas album. It has lyrics but so far only the instrumental has been produced and distributed. It's a long story as to why the lyrics were never recorded… mostly having to do with technical limitations on the part of the producer… er, me. …Well, I guess that isn't really a long story per se. Anyway, the song is still available in the form it currently exists in, and I'll provide a link: https://www.amazon.com/For-Christmas/dp/B00PJUHQJE  I do think it is about time I recorded a version with words… but then everything is about time, isn't it?…ok, maybe not everything. You can also check out the show archive at SuccotashShow.com to find all the episodes throughout the years, presenting what HAS to be around a thousand different soundcasts from various places around the world and the internet as we know (or knew) it. Maybe YOU are in the archive… maybe you will be someday? Who knows? In the meantime we can always use your help in the form of rating and reviewing the show… and also sharing the show. Because sharing is caring… unles it's COVID-19, DON'T SHARE THAT!!…But, sharing US is what we mean when we gently ask: Won't you please…Pass The Succotash? — Tyson Saner

We are Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package, which means we’re here to help keep the entire soundcast industry solvent by featuring clips from a variety of comedy soundcasts from around the world. Why? Because even in the face of the literally hundreds of thousands of shows out there in Soundcastland, the numbers have been falling off since this pandemic started – less people commuting to work, working out in gyms, and killing time at their desks with earbuds in to shut out the cacophony of the office. Oh, and sometimes we also do interviews. Who’s “we”? It’s not the royal We, as in me talking about myself in grandiose terms. I AM half of the “we”, namely Marc Hershon, and I host Succotash Shut-In on an every-other-weekly basis. I share these duties with the other half of “we”, Tyson Saner, who just hosted Episode 230, in which he featured snippets from soundcasts Lie Hard With A Vengeance, Kasting Cuzzin, and Review Revue. You can still grab that installment at out homesite, SuccotashShow.com, or from a designated soundcast listening post such as Apple or Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, iHeart Radio, the Laughable app, the list goes on and on. Let’s get down to the business of show, shall we? I’ve been kind of dragging my feet on this one because I’m not sure how it’s going to go over. I’ve got clips from FIVE shows this episode but instead of regular clips – you know, a three to five minute chunk of a show so you can get the flavor of it – I’ve scraped together a bunch of bloopers. Times when things didn’t go quite as planned OR times that we were never intended to hear but they decided to drop the tracks on us anyway. We’ve got bloopers from Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, A Paranormal Chicks, Roll Out!, Who Back When, and Voyage to the Stars. This whole mess is brought to you by our longtime sponsors Hendersons Pants, makers of the new Santa Pants, and Trumpoetry.com. CLIPS Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend First up is a candid slice from one of my favorite soundcasts that I like to listen to pretty much week in and week out, Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend. Great guests, fun chats with Conan, his trust assistant, Sona Movsesian, and the show’s producer Matt Gourley, who is also a past guest and, dare I say, a friend of the show. Maybe, I don’t know if he’d take my call but probably, right? A recent gust was comedian Colin Quinn, was really, really funny. But it seems that Colin is a might tech-challenged and had a hell of a time getting set up to do the interview via Zoom, which most of the show have been resorting to because of the pandemic. So Conan let the audio of the attempts to get things set up roll at the end of the show, and I’ve got some of that for you right here… A Paranormal Chicks I back into this next soundcast, A Paranormal Chicks, by finding a blooper teaser reel of the show floating around on the web. Really didn’t know too much about it before but the two hosts, Donna and Kerri, sound like a lot of fun. The show describes itself as a “true crime and paranormal comedy podcast” – or soundcasts, as we prefer – and that’s their formula: one paranormal story and one true crime story along the way in every episode. But into every soundcast a little havoc must fall, as it did for our plucky hosts the day a cockroach showed up in their studio… Roll Out! If you dig RPGs – AKA role playing games – like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Star Wars, Warhammer, etc., etc., there are a bunch of fun gamecasts out there. Some with people playing games, some with people talking about game play. I’m a particular fan of Brian Posehn’s Nerd Poker and the Critical Role soundcasts but that’s because D&D is my jam. Roll Out! Is another such soundcast where they play an ongoing campaign. Their game is Masks: A New Generation, and it’s a superhero-based world, I believe. Not really that familiar with that particular game. But they’re got a collected set of bloopers out there so I grabbed a sequence of several in a row – completely out of context – but it makes for some pretty entertaining listening. Here are some of the cast of Roll Out! Who Back When If you’re a Doctor Who fan, you may already be clued into Who Back When, a long-running soundcast about all things Who that’s based in England. While they take their Doctors seriously, the current crew on the show  - Marie, Drew, Jim and Leon – clearly have fun since they release a blooper collection for every season of their show. The cluster of boo-boos I have for you are from their fourth season reel and, like so many bloopers, these don’t have a whole lot of context unless you are familiar with the episodes they were cut out of…and, even then, you may not recognize them. Voyage to the Stars The last blooptastic soundcast I have for you is from a very funny sci-fi narrative show called Voyage to the Stars. There’s a whole host of funny-ass people onboard including Colton Dunn, Felicia Day, Kirsten Vangsness, Steve Berg, and friend-of-Succotash Janet Varney. If I remember correctly, there’s a lot of improvisation that happens in this show – in fact, it may be ALL improvised – and when that happens your cast is often likely to paint themselves into a narrative corner with the more details they cook up and then trying to remember everything. So no surprise they have a pile of bloopers saved up – here are just a few… That does it for my great experiment – an episode full of bloopers. A Succotash of succotash, if you will. If you enjoyed it then this IS Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. If you don’t enjoy it, then this is Fresh Air with Terry Gross. That’s going to did it for me until the week after next. My partner-in-clips Tyson Saner is here next week for Epi232. I have to ask Tyson when his next episode of The Anti Social Show is going to drop. That’s another soundcast that Tyson co-hosts, along with Hunter Block, and those fellows had me on as a guest recently and I’m waiting to listen. Final bits of business here. If you are a comedy soundcaster and want to hear your clip on this show, you can either wait until Tyson or I find your show OR you can submit your own damn clip directly to us! You can directly upload a 3-5 minute MP3 clip to us at http://hightail.com/u/Succotash. Include some detail about your show and we’ll pop it into an upcoming episode. Please do us the great favor of rating and reviewing Succotash Shut-In on Apple Podcasts. And follow us on the socials – it’s @SuccotashShow on Insta and Twitter, and we have the Succotash Show Page on Facebook. Other than that, our friend Bill Heywatt has information on how you can reach Tyson and me coming up in the close so I will just implore you, as I often do, if anyone asks if you’re heard any good soundcasts lately, won’t you please pass the Succotash? — Marc Hershon

(REC Date 03/26/20) Returning guest Jesse Camp calls in to our recording of "Anti Social Show" and entertains the heck out of us. One problem... because we aren't able to Skype Jesse in, he cannot hear anything that Hunter says. Somehow, we make it work. The show begins guestless with a tribute to the recently passed Kenny Rogers, and it also contains another tribute in the middle of the show provided by Mr. Camp himself. Meanwhile, the nightmare that is COVID-19 had not quite begun to pick up steam at this point although it most certainly is on our minds. We talk about lots of other stuff though and do some...improvisation? Good times were had all around. Thank you for listening.
