My guest today is Adam Greenspan A Grammy-nominated engineer, mixer, and producer who had a pretty good start to his career engineering Faith No More’s “Album of the Year” at age 20. He later spent time at two world-class studios, Westlake Audio and The Village Recorder, working with artists such as Marilyn Manson, Rage Against the Machine, and Bono before going freelance in 2000. As a consultant for setting up home studios, he met Nick Launay and began collaborating on albums by Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Refused, while at the same time taking on more and more producing and mixing gigs of his own for the likes of The Veils, INVSN, and French Style Furs (featuring members of Cold War Kids.) More recently Adam has seen great success receiving a Mercury prize nomination for IDLES “Joy As An Act Of Resistance.” also nominated for Best Album at the UK Music Producers Guild Awards and won the Ivor Novello award for writing. In 2019 Adam was Grammy-nominated for Thomas Dybdahl “All These Things” and he just had his first #1 in the UK with IDLES “Ultra Mono” and a top 10 with Cliff Richards. Refused-Frontmann Dennis Lyxzén gilt schon lange als umtriebiger Musiker. Nach The (International) Noise Conspiracy, AC4 und INVSN hat der Schwede mit Bad Religion-Gitarrist Brian Baker nun Fake Names gegründet - könnte man denken. Dabei ist die Power-Pop'n'Roll-Band viel mehr das Projekt von Baker und Ex-Embrace-Gitarrist Michael Hampton. Boston Manor hingegen emanzipieren sich mit ihrem dritten Album "Glue" immer weiter vom Pop-Punk ihres Debütalbums und thematisieren zwischen treibendem Alternative-Rock bis Post-Hardcore Themen wie Klassenkampf, psychische Gesundheit, toxische Männlichkeit und den Brexit. Autobiographische Züge nimmt auch das Solodebüt "Petals For Armor" von Paramore-Frontfrau Hayley Williams an, das aus drei EPs besteht und mit dem sie tief in ihr Privatleben und in psychische Abgründe blicken lässt. Bei Bleed From Within ist die Marschrichtung hingegen völlig anders: Die schottische (Death-)Metal(-core)-Formation startete 2018 nach langjähriger Albumpause mit dem vierten Album "Era" in ein neues Bandzeitalter und hat mit diesem frischen Wind das neue Album "Fracture" produziert. Pausen kennen The 1975 dagegen nicht: "Notes On A Conditional Form" ist das vierte Album seit 2013, mit einer Lauflänge von 80 Minuten ein echtes Mammutwerk und überrascht mit teils rohem Sound und politischem Überbau. Diesen hat auch "Kollaps", das fünfte Album von The Hirsch Effekt: Zwischen Progressive Metal und Mathcore erzählt die Hannoveraner Band verschiedene Geschichten aus der Sicht von Greta Thunberg und der "Fridays for Future"-Bewegung.

New Noise.   On this episode we speak to Dennis Lyxzén the musician best known as the lead vocalist for Swedish hardcore punk band Refused. He is currently the vocalist in INVSN.   Aside from Refused, he has been involved in numerous Swedish bands during his musical career, acting as vocalist, bass player, or guitar player. Since the break-up of Refused, his most notable bands have been The (International) Noise Conspiracy and Invasionen (Previously called The Lost Patrol Band). Lyxzén also runs Ny Våg, a punk record label. He acted as producer of the 2005 self-titled album by Swedish punk band Regulations, which was released on the label. As a punk rock frontman, Lyxzén's songs are of a counter-culture nature, within line of his socialist political views. Despite his political views, he tends to maintain a level of lyrical variety throughout his various bands. Lyxzén was voted sexiest man in Sweden in 2004 by Elle Magazine and is also vegan. In 2011, Lyxzén joined The Bloody Beetroots for their Church of Noise tour as a guest vocalist. Lyxzén is also featured in their newest single, "Church of Noise", and the accompanying music video. In 2012 it was announced that Refused would reunite for Coachella, Way Out West Festival and Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012. They went on to headline Groezrock 2012 in Meerhout, Belgium. Although Refused stated in 2012 that their reunion was only temporary, in 2015 they released their fourth studio album Freedom. Refused have continued to tour to promote Freedom. Dennis Lyxzén och Strage snackar skivsamlande Den fjärde gästen i podcasten ”Hemma hos Strage” är Dennis Lyxzén, punkikonen som erövrat världen med banden Refused, The (International) Noise Conspiracy och INVSN. En stor del av miljonerna som Refused tjänade på sin återförening för fyra år sedan har Dennis Lyxzén bränt i skivaffärer. Han har 10 000 vinyler hemma i Umeå och vill därför prata skivsamlande med Fredrik Strage. Socialism, moshpits och frisbeegolf är andra ämnen som avhandlas. Fredrik berättar också om när han, för att undvika en momshöjning, köpte 1000 brännbara dvd:er eftersom det var ”framtidens filmformat”.
