Arch Enemy's Michael Amott Talks Blood Dynasty, Jeff Loomis' Exit, and More on The Loaded Radio Podcast TL;DR: Arch Enemy founder and guitarist Michael Amott joins The Loaded Radio Podcast to discuss the band's highly anticipated new album Blood Dynasty, which arrives March 28, 2025. In this exclusive interview, Amott dives deep into the writing process, lineup changes, and the evolution of Arch Enemy's sound. Arch Enemy are gearing up to release their thunderous new album, Blood Dynasty, on March 28, 2025 — and fans of melodic death metal are in for a brutal treat. On this week's episode of The Loaded Radio Podcast, Arch Enemy guitarist and mastermind Michael Amott sits down for an in-depth conversation about the band's latest chapter, revealing behind-the-scenes insights about the creation of Blood Dynasty, the departure of legendary guitarist Jeff Loomis, the addition of new axeman Joey Concepcion, and even reflecting on former vocalist Angela Gossow's lasting influence on the band. Blood Dynasty: A New Chapter for Arch Enemy Blood Dynasty marks Arch Enemy's 12th studio album, following up 2022's Deceivers. Packed with the band's signature blend of crushing riffs, soaring melodies, and blistering solos, the album showcases Michael Amott's renewed focus on crafting intricate yet anthemic songs that balance aggression with hooks. Tracks like “Empire of the Damned”, “Vultures of Tomorrow”, and the title track “Blood Dynasty” already have fans buzzing, thanks to teasers that hint at a heavier, darker direction — yet still unmistakably Arch Enemy. Michael Amott Talks Songwriting, Lineup Changes, and Legacy In the interview, Michael Amott opens up about the songwriting process behind Blood Dynasty, explaining how the new material came together in the wake of Jeff Loomis' departure from the band in late 2024. Michael also shares how new guitarist Joey Concepcion (known for his work with Armageddon and Sanctuary) was brought into the fold, adding fresh energy and technical prowess to the lineup. Reflecting on Angela Gossow and Alissa White-Gluz's Impact Of course, no discussion of Arch Enemy's history would be complete without mentioning Angela Gossow, the band's iconic former vocalist and current manager. In the podcast, Michael reflects on Angela's lasting impact on the band, as well as the continued evolution of current vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, whose dynamic vocal range and commanding presence shine throughout Blood Dynasty. Inside the Loaded Radio Podcast Episode During this candid conversation, Michael also discusses: How the global metal scene has evolved since Arch Enemy's inception.   What inspires him to keep writing and pushing the band's sound forward.   Upcoming tour plans in support of Blood Dynasty, including potential festival appearances.   His thoughts on the future and possibly writing a book. Whether you're a longtime fan or just discovering Arch Enemy, this episode offers an unfiltered look at one of melodic death metal's most important figures. Scroll down to listen to the full podcast episode. Who Are Arch Enemy? Formed in 1995 by former Carcass guitarist Michael Amott, Arch Enemy have become one of the defining bands in melodic death metal. Hailing from Sweden, the band gained international fame with albums like Wages of Sin (2001), Anthems of Rebellion (2003), and Rise of the Tyrant (2007). Known for their ferocious guitar work, anthemic songwriting, and pioneering use of female growled vocals, Arch Enemy has been fronted by vocalists Angela Gossow and, since 2014, Alissa White-Gluz. Over the years, they've built a reputation for delivering relentless live shows and consistently pushing the boundaries of modern metal. With Blood Dynasty, Arch Enemy continues to evolve while staying true to the blistering sound that's earned them a loyal global fanbase.

This week we look to the stars for inspiration for our show theme. Oh yeah! We are talking about bands that have rock stars in them: Supergroups and Offshoots. A band consisting of well-known artists from other bands does not always equal great success. We dive into some of the more obscure supergroups and offshoots that didn't break with huge mainstream success or stay around very long. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week we talk exclusively about Supergroups featuring famous solo artists and band members along with, Offshoots which are bands who contain the bulk of a previous incarnation of a famous band. Interview by Kris PetersSwedish metal masters Arch Enemy are a rare, true enigma of the heavy metal landscape. With a sound impossible to pigeon hole and a live performance that is pure aggression, adrenaline, and intensity throughout, Arch Enemy have become the heavy band that knows no boundaries and transcends all musical genres.Following the release of last years brutal yet melodic album Deceivers, Arch Enemy are set to bring their live show to our corner of the globe this month with a string of shows starting in Auckland on February 12 before hitting Australia for five more dates.Their last tour here before the pandemic saw Arch Enemy play to sold out crowds around the nation, with their performance heralded by many critics as amongst the finest metal shows ever seen in this country.Guitarist Michael Amott joined HEAVY recently to chat about the tour, with one of the topics of discussion centering around structuring the set lists and if preference is placed on the three albums with current singer Alissa White-Gluz appearing on."She was a big fan of Arch Enemy before," he answered. "She loves singing the old stuff, actually. Already when she joined the band I remember the first rehearsal - even before she joined the band, we were just rehearsing and jamming - and she sung what were not her songs at that time without a lyric sheet or anything. We just played a whole bunch of songs. That was a seamless transition as well. She really loves singing the old stuff and we enjoy playing the old stuff as well. The thing that has happened with Arch Enemy that is really interesting over the last 8 or 9 years is the band has grown so much and the last three albums are our most popular that we've ever had. The audience reaction is always huge for those newer era songs, so it's difficult to not play them (laughs). It's always what the people want to hear." In the full interview, Michael talks more about the tour and what to expect, what has changed with Arch Enemy since their last visit in 2018, their new album Deceivers, how Alissa is improving in her role as vocalist with each release, the early days of Arch Enemy, changing vocalists from Johan Liiva to Angela Gossow in 2000, whether it was always his intent to bring in a female singer, how that affected the dynamics of the music, the transition from Angela to Alissa in 2014, surviving multiple vocalist changes and more.

Episode 43 kicked off at 19h00 on 27 Oct 2022 live on Rebel Rock Radio.  We got straight into it with a track off one of the best live albums ever released, Bruce Springsteen's Live 1975 to '85, and a track called ‘Spirit in the Night'.  From there it was time for some Thin Lizzy followed by Aussie rockers Airbourne and a track called ‘No Way But the Hard Way'.  It was good to hear  Kim Mitchell's killer track ‘Go For Soda' again.  It should a staple on all those one-hit-wonder compilation albums.  From there we went to ‘Hear About it Later' off Van Halen's Fairwarning album, Dave Lee Roth at his languid best.   As always, it has to be said that Eddie Van Halen left a hole that cannot be filled.   Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown made a welcome return to TSORR with a track called 'Fuel' off their Pressure album.  Load shedding has hit internet radio hard causing one of TSORR's greatest supporters to be absent for a few weeks.  On this episode he was tuned in, so we caught up on a few of his besties, Space Lord by Monster Magnet, 'Dead Again' from Buckcherry and then some Marilyn Manson and Type O negative to round it out.  We stayed in the M's and went heavy with Machine Head and a stunning track off the new Megadeth called ‘Mission To Mars'.   There were a couple of birthdays to celebrate, Tom Petty would have been 72 last week, KK Downing is 71 today and SA guitar maestro Richard Pryor had a birthday yesterday.  We heard from all of them.  It was great to check out some vintage Iron Maiden in the form of ‘ Children of The Damned.  From there Diverted Disorder bought some heaviness to the proceedings.  Hailing from the Vaal, this 4-Piece are making waves with their awesome style of in their own words “Alternative, Rock, Blues blended with Trash, core, and Death Metal to create melodic perfection”.  We stayed in SA with Shadowclub and a track called 'Good Morning Killer'.  The aforementioned SA guitar maestro Richard Pryor's solo project Pebbleman got a look in with a track called ‘Searching'.  Halestorm, Thundermother, and an amazing bit of teamwork between Nita Strauss and Alissa White-Gluz gave the ladies some airtime.  The Nita and Alissa track is called ‘The Wolf You Feed' and it is really cool, check it out.Following on from last week's Crowded House track we had a listen to Tim Finn's big hit 'I Got You' when he was still with Split Enz.  The statute of limitations on God save the Queen is now over so we gave the Sex Pistols a chance and then checked out a brand new track from Blink 182, some Fall Out Boy, and a very moving track from My Chemical Romance called 'The Light Behind Your Eyes'.   Artists featured:  Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Thin Lizzy, Stone Sour, Audioslave, Kim Mitchell, Van Halen, Warrant, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, Monster Magnet, Buckcherry, Marilyn Manson, Type O Negative, Machine Head, Megadeth, Wonderboom, Pebbleman, Tom Petty &the Heartbreakers, John Mellencamp, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Halestorm, Thundermother, Nita Strauss & Alissa White-Gluz, Queensrÿche, Diverted Disorder, Shadowclub, Split Enz, Sex Pistols, Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, U2, Foo Fighters, Overdrivers, Hinder, In Flames  The Story of Rock and Roll. Swedish metal warriors Arch Enemy are a force unto themselves. After surviving the best and worst of what the music industry can throw at them – including the changing of the guard on vocals duties – Arch Enemy have always emerged triumphant and powerful, the unseen bond forged through adversity acting as a guiding force of nature. The band returned to their sonic realm earlier this month with the release of their 11th studio album Deceivers.Despite being written on the wrong side of the pandemic, Deceivers still feels fresh, vibrant and ferocious, with singer Alissa White-Gluz taking massive leaps forward on what is her third outing with the band. From the opening track Handshake In Hell Arch Enemy grip tight at the fabric of metal, with White-Gluz surprising many with her stunning cleans in that track that are offset by the brilliantly natural harshness that has punctuated each of her first two albums. Here we glimpse another side of her sonic beauty in a way that until now many thought to be improbable. Not only does it add another layer and texture to her personal treasure chest, it also opens up many more opportunities for a band now into their 25th year. This album is the future of Arch Enemy, like it or hate it. It is a culmination of everything that has been and everything that will be and a triumphant return to center stage for a band who had already seemed at their peak.HEAVY caught up with guitarist and founding member Michael Amott to dissect Deceivers."It's been quite remarkable really. It's always a bit nerve wracking putting out a new album. It's our first one in five years, but we did go about it in a new way. We had five singles out... we started releasing singles ten months ago, so it's been a very different campaign in that way. Something new for us, but I would say now the album is out it's in the hands and hopefully in the ears and hearts of the fans. Everybody seems to be enjoying it a lot. I've never seen as much positive feedback on the socials for anything that we've done before, so it's really cool."In the full interview Michael talks more about the direction of the album, how Arch Enemy measures the success and reaction to new music, the timeless nature of music, White-Gluz' clean vocals and how they strengthen her vocal prowess, her growth over three albums, the early days of Arch Enemy and more.

Episode 33 of season 5 aired finally at 19h18 on Rebel Rock Radio.  Same as last week I could not connect to the server but this time I found some gremlins in the system and was able to sort it out.  We kicked off with Guns ‘n' Roses, with Accept and Herman Frank in hot pursuit.  Both those tracks featured Herman because back in 1984 when Restless and Wild was released he was on guitar with Wolf Hoffman.  Pearl Jam and Soundgarden signaled the end of the metal for the next 10 minutes.  From there we went all over the place, leaving the grunge in Seattle we moved to Ireland for The Boomtown Rats, London for Joe Jackson, then down under for some ACDC and a track called 'Giving the Dog a Bone' off Back in Black.  Mutt Lange produced both the ACDC and the Boomtown Rats' The Fine Art of Surfacing.     We had new stuff from Hell Fire and a track called 'Tortuga Nights' off the new album called Reckoning.  Also new was a track called 'Yen' off the new Slipknot, which is being released one track at a time in the same way as Arch Enemy and Megadeth were.  Speaking of both of those we checked them out as well.  It was cool to toast the late great Taylor Hawkins and check out a track called ‘Rudy' off his EP Kota.  It's got so many hooks it reminds me of Rabbitt.  We went mellow with Dire Straits and a track called 'Lions' off the Live at the BBC album and then we went heavy again with a track called ‘Exiled From Earth' off the finally released album called 'Deceivers'.  Arch Enemy is my current favorite metal band, Michael Amott and Alissa White-Gluz are killing it.   By the end of the show, we had gone from Del Amitri to Parkway Drive and Nickelback to Soulfly.  The UK Punk slot was great, and The Stranglers with Duchess really hit the spot.  The Rodneys were lining up, god forbid.  It was also great to hear Stiff Little Fingers with 'Nobody's' Hero and Simon McBride who is now in Deep Purple in place of Steve Morse made his TSORR debut with a rack called 'High Stakes'.  We finished up with Rage Against the Machines cover of Devo's track ‘Beautiful World, Zack De La Roche literally oozes resentment at the end, don't be like Zack kids.   All in all, it was a pretty mixed-up affair, in a good way.   Artists featured:  Guns ‘n' Roses, Accept, Herman Frank, Newsted, Hell Fire, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, The Boomtown Rats, Joe Jackson, ACDC, Santana, Dave Hause, John Mellencamp, Rush, All them Witches, Megadeth, Slipknot, Taylor Hawkins, Dirty Honey, Simon McBride, Dire Straits, Arch Enemy, Bring Me The Horizon, Nickelback, Hinder, The Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash, Mr Big, The Answer, We Are Harlot, Sixx A.M., Del Amitri, Parkway Drive, Soulfly, Rage Against The Machine

Imagine the powerful and practically magical presence of Elsa combined with the animal-loving nature of Snow White. That's Alissa White-Glutz, the lead vocalist of the death metal band Arch Enemy. Known for harsh, distorted, aggressive, and intense tones, Alissa takes pride in a healthy lifestyle, practicing veganism, and nurturing positivity all around. Alissa has a scary video game character called “Queen Beast” modeled after her. She also is an adept clean vocal singer, talented not only at creating beautiful lyrics and melodies but also adept at harmonizing and producing her own music. Her music video outfits are some of the most extremely creative I've seen – evoking power, darkness, and aggression altogether in flashy sophistication. It's amazing the influence that Patreon and Patrons can have on an artist. Patrons are the reason I initially heard Alissa's music and that eventually led to this interview.  In this episode, you will hear: Alissa's career background Metal music considered as Western culture How intergenerational trauma is rooted in epigenetics The best way to try out microphones How preconceived notions can affect a person's opinions Subscribe and Review Have you subscribed to our podcast? Episode 9 of the 2022 season kicked off at 19h00 on 3 March on Rebel Rock Radio.  We started with ACDC to get the blood pumping and then followed with a fairly laid-back Wolfmother track called 'Mind's Eye'.  The whole show was pretty diverse, and included some heavy moments with Testament and Killswitch Engage then all the way back to the early  1969 ad 1976 for MC5 and UFO respectively.  We took a listen to 'Motor City is Burning' which was actually a John Lee Hooker song before Wayne Kramer fixed it up.  There was a nice little bit showcasing the talents of Alissa White-Gluz, starting with a track off Me and That Man's latest album New Man, New Songs, Same Shit Vol II.  The track was called 'Goodbye' and featured Alissa with Devin Townshend.  She sings it beautifully with clean vocals and it's an amazing contrast to the next track where she does her trademark death vocals in Arch Enemy.  That track was called 'Deceiver, Deceiver' off the soon-to-be-released Deceiver album.  Sounds like something out of Black Adder, Your Highness, Your Highness, Your Highness, Your Highness.  It made sense to round out this bit of the show with my current favorite female-fronted band In This Moment with Maria Brink on vox.  We had a short section where we went into C&W territory and played Buckcherry and Kid Rock both featuring Gretchen Wilson.  The big disappointment was messing up the transition between Jethro Tull's 'Moths' and Metallica's 'Moth Into Flame', do not adjust your set there was a technical problem which, in the interests of keeping it real, I haven't edited out.  Dan Patlansky's new album Shelter of Bones is excellent and we took a listen to 'Soul Parasite'.  The new Scorpions 'Rock Believer' went down very well as did listening to two of my favorite solos ever, one from KK Downing on 'Before the Dawn' and the other from the amazing C.C. de Ville on Poisons' track 'Life Goes On'.  Putting Pantera and Nickelback together was good fun, I thought it worked very well and we closed out with two heartfelt South African tracks, 'Sien Jou Weer' and Komma from Piet Botha & Jack Hammer and Francois Van Coke respectively.    Artists featured:  ACDC, Wolfmother, Sixx A.M. Rush, Slash feat Myles Kennedy, Testament, Killswitch Engage, MC5, UFO, Stone Sour, Def Leppard, Megadeth, Me and That Man, Arch Enemy, In This Moment, Black Label Society, Buckcherry, Kid Rock feat Gretchen Wilson, Jethro Tull, Metallica, Motörhead, Scorpions, Dan Patlansky, Samantha Fish, Diverted Disorder, Type O Negative, The Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers, Sham 69, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Parkway Drive, Pantera, Nickelback, Rob Zombie, Piet Botha & Jack Hammer, Francois Van Coke.

Vicky Psarakis said she had prepared her whole life for what proved a career opportunity. Vicky has made three albums with The Agonist and a new EP, titled "Days Before the World Wept," since replacing original vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. She has more than proven herself with a broad dynamic range and five distinct voices in her sonic pallet—a power clean, a falsetto, growls at two octave levels and a scream. On this episode, Vicky talks about her evolution as a vocalist and songwriter, her creative process within The Agonist and branching out to a second band called Sicksense.

We begin the 9th season of IUF with a remarkable talent in Dutch singer-songwriter Charlotte Wessels. It's been a wild ride for Charlotte in the last 15 months – from the onset of the pandemic and to parting ways with her band, Delain, she's now unlocked a side of her that she never saw coming, and for the better. Within this last year, she has created a Patreon which has allowed her to connect with hundreds of her passionate fans in ways she couldn't in the past. This is also evidence on manifesting her debut solo album that she is gearing up to drop soon, and we get the chance to ask her about everything that went behind the creation of this record. Snuggled away in her Six Feet Under studio in the Netherlands, she tapped into an improved version of herself that she is grateful for. The new album, titled “Tales From Six Feet Under” is full of eclectic feelings of emotion, power, wisdom, and from the heart. Charlotte takes us through the winding mindsets of the immense compositions that brought this album to the surface, which involves her collaboration with artist Alissa White-Gluz on the magnificent song “Lizzie.” The creativity and artistry never stops for Charlotte, tune in now as we go above and beyond with a musician who has so much to put out there in this world, and even though she's been at it for over 2 decades – it feels as if she's just getting started. Buy and stream “Tales From Six Feet Under '' from the one and only Charlotte Wessels, releasing September 17 via Napalm Records.Stay connected with Charlotte Wessels, visit: https://linktr.ee/charlottewessels, https://www.facebook.com/OfficialCharlotteWessels, and https://www.instagram.com/charlottewessels/Stay connected with IUF, visit: https://interviewunderfire.com/

Episode 21 of Season 4 kicked off on Rebel Rock Radio at 7 pm on 27 May 2021.  We started with Yngwie Malmsteen and Jeff Scott Soto's wonderful cover of 'Magical Mystery Tour' off Butchering the Beatles.  It's probably one of the best ways you can possibly start a radio show.  From there it was Five Finger Death Punch, and then a detour down 'Copperhead Road' with Steve Earle and some Dire Straits before we unwittingly ended up in a sort of Aliens theme for a few songs courtesy of Journey, Blink 182, and The Misfits.  The back-to-back Iron Maiden and Judas Priest with 'Blood Red Skies' bought us back to earth. The Doors with 'Riders on the Storm' really went down well, it's such an incredible song, or as one listener put it "for my soul".  SA bands included Mark Haze, Wonderboom, Arapaho, The Color Blew, and near the end, what I consider to be the best metal band in the country, Sunken State with a new track called ' Separation Has Begun'.  Mark my words this band is going to be huge as far as metal bands can be huge in today's world.  Highlights for me were listening to The Mayfield Four with 'Summergirl' and around 4 min in where Myles Kennedy just takes his vocals to a new level, absolutely incredible.  Whitesnake with 'Still of the Night' sounded amazing and Arch Enemy with Alissa White-Gluz on vocals and Michael Amott on guitar rounded out the highlights with 'You Will Know My Name' off War Eternal.   Artists featured:  Yngwie Malmsteen, Dangerous Toys, UFO, Slash, Five Finger Death Punch, Steve Earle, Dire Straits, Anthrax, Journey, Blink 182, Ramones, The Misfits, Whitesnake, Skid Row, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Rammstein, Metallica, Shinedown, Mark Haze, Wonderboom, Arapaho, The Doors, LA Rats, Arch Enemy, Megadeth, W.A.S.P., Thin Lizzy, Sinner, The Mayfield Four, The Pretty Reckless, Temple of the Dog, Biters, Van Halen, Sunken State, Venom, The Color Blew

"For us it's really our most ambitious album", enthused Scott Lewis, vocalist for Carniflex, talking about their new album World War X which will be released on August 2. "We pushed ourselves further musically than we ever have. We wanted to add more layers, more atmosphere and songs with more peaks and balance in them and I think we really accomplished that".While World War X has a common thread permeating through the lyrics, Lewis stops short of declaring it a concept record."Thing thing for me really was going into the writing I had to match the scale and scope of the lyrics to the music", he measured. "The songs were big. They were epic songs, so I had to try to find a way to take my lyrics that were normal and very intimate and personal and reframe them with scale. Using the battle lines and the battlefields as a theme really gave me the chance to reframe everything into something more exciting and fresh for a Carniflex record and it matched what we were trying to do".In the full interview Scott talks more about World War X, the importance of the lead song on each record, the released videos from the album and how they reflect the lyrical content, writing longer songs than they ever have before, having Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy guest on one of the tracks, the bands hiatus in 2012 and how important it was to the bands future longevity, what they did differently the second time around and more.

A hospital is supposed to be a place of healing and a pillar of health. Yet, many are serving the foods that may have helped land the patient in the operating room. Learn about the big money contracts between hospitals and fast food restaurants that generate millions of dollars every year as “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll sits down with Leslie Rudloff, Director of Legal Affairs at The Physicians Committee. Rudloff has obtained the contracts and has found just how much money burgers and fries can bring in to the medical facilities.   Perhaps most troubling is the fact that the unhealthy food epidemic extends into children’s hospitals where tender-aged patients are being served food proven to have a high risk of colon cancer. Susan Levin, M.S., R.D., C.S.S.D. joins the show to discuss the #HazardousHotDogs campaign. Death metal rocker and unapologetic vegan Alissa White-Gluz takes time out of her busy touring schedule to join the show! Alissa is the lead singer of Arch Enemy, who goes to great lengths to keep it plant-based while performing all over the world. You’ll hear her fascinating story of being raised vegetarian and not understanding why her friends were consuming animals when she was a young child. Alissa is also a must-follow on social media. The mix of hardcore rock pictures, animal rights messages, and cute puppies is extraordinary. Check out Alissa and Arch Enemy on tour. Album Review - The Shadow Theory (Kamelot)

Hey guys - this is Mark “The Fuzz-Man” Doss coming at you with a review of Kamelot's newest album, “The Shadow Theory, here on The Great Metal Debate podcast. Now guys, before I go into any detail on this album, I want to let you know something personal about myself. I just became a parent about two months ago, and I've got to say it's one of the best things ever… it might be the greatest thing ever to happen to me. And this album was actually the album I was listening to on the way to the hospital, considering it came out the day before she was born. So, I was on my way to the hospital to be with my fiance during her labor, and this was also the album I was listening to taking them both home. Anytime I listen to this album it always brings me back to that time… it was a feel-good moment for me. You know, I believe music is a very healing factor in life, and it's just a natural high that we all have in common. “The Shadow Theory” came out on April 6, 2018, and, you know, I've heard a lot of people saying “It's Kamelot… it‘s still Kamelot, blah, blah blah.” Well, of course it is, and I'll tell you why. Well, if you think about it, a lot of the great bands like Pantera, Van Halen - even modern bands such as Revocation - have their own style that they have imprinted into the world of music. And when you listen to something on the radio and you can immediately pinpoint it, then you know that they have their own style, and Kamelot do that exact thing and have been doing so for the last twenty or so years - since they've been a band. I'm just going to warn you guys: yes, this is a Kamelot album. It is no different than any other Kamelot album from, say, the Epica era. Epica, The Black Halo, Ghost Opera, Poetry For The Poisoned; even the Tommy Karevik albums; Silverthorn, and of course their last album, Haven. That doesn't mean this is a bad album - at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, there is one thing I do have to say: I'm not a big fan of the song Static because it kind of reminds me of a very poppy, soft… it's not Kamelot. It sounds like something that might be played on a ‘light' radio station or a pop music, top-40 billboard hits. It's not Kamelot to me. It might be Kamelot so some people; some people might like that - it's all opinion. To me that was the only flaw on this album. Now, another thing about this album that is interesting is that Kamelot has two new female vocalists. That's a Kamelot staple - having a female vocalist as a guest, featured artist on their albums. This time we have Lauren Hart, vocalist from the band Once Human, and Jennifer Haven from Beyond The Black. Lauren appears on the second single on the album, which was Phantom Divine, and also on mind-fall remedy, and I've gotta tell you she kills it. Me personally, I prefer her over Alissa White-Gluz any day, and they've released some great music with her too. Now Jennifer Haven, I haven't really listened to her band much, but listening to the ballad on the album - In Twilight Hours - it's beautiful. It is amazing. This album also doesn't include Casey Grillo on it. Casey Grillo was the original Kamelot drummer, and he announced his departure back in February. So, he's doing his own thing now and best of luck to him and his future endeavors. Now they have Johan Nunez from Firewind on drums. I'm a big Firewind fan, and you can definitely hear that he has put his own spin on the album. A little bit of Casey, a little bit of Johan Nunez - I think it's the best of both worlds, in my opinion. For those who are looking for a unique, different approach to a Kamelot album; hold your breath and just listen to the music. “The Shadow Theory” - I would give this album a 7 out of 10 rating. Nothing crazy; it's just Kamelot doing their thing, and then the Static song that I'm not really that into. But yes, give this thing a listen and form your own opinion on it.
