This episode is all about reshaping waste management in our lives and our communities, with a focus on changing the disposable culture we live in into one where reuse is the standard. Get ready to take some notes! Multi-faceted global CEO & Entrepreneur Jessica Gonzalez, joins us. She has a long history of building and scaling international startups from the ground up, most recently bringing her entrepreneurial spirit and expertise into the world of sustainable waste management as Founder and CEO of Happen Ventures. At Happen Ventures, she's championing the cause of beneficial reuse, transforming waste into valuable resources, innovating cost-effective and eco-friendly solutions, and reducing landfill waste all while supporting local communities.  The time has come for action – for all of us to put our money where our mouth is. I don't mean every single one of us going to zero waste – that's perfection and as we know, perfection is an unattainable goal. But if all of us reused imperfectly, reduced even minimally, and recycled intentionally – we would ALL be better for it. And, as most things do, they start with YOU, and me, and us. In this episode, we speak to cannabis lawyer and advocate Jessica Gonzalez about the measures small businesses can take to safeguard their brands even when the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is not engaging with plant-touching entities. Additionally, Jessica will also discuss the state of New Jersey's adult-use rollout and how industry stakeholders can make the local market more equitable and accessible for business owners and consumers.

Link to Article: https://bit.ly/3uAz67XAn internal statement from Activision Blizzard on unionisation has been released online, seemingly persuading employees against the practice. From VP of QA Christian Arends, the message refers to employees' rights to discuss potential unionisation and answers some key questions. The message was shared online by former employee Jessica Gonzalez, one of the founding members of the ABetterABK employee group. "VP of QA at Activision just posted this shit in company slack LOL," she wrote.Arends begins by stressing that the company respects employees' rights to unionise. However, many of the answers he gives to questions relate to the negative impact of unionising for the company."A union doesn't do anything to help us produce world-class games, and the bargaining process is not typically quick, often reduces flexibility, and can be adversarial and lead to negative publicity," he said."All of this could hurt our ability to continue creating great games. While many union contracts include a 'just cause' provision and a grievance process, this is really just a different way to deal with disciplinary issues."On comparing bargaining with a union to a direct relationship with the company for individual employees, Arends explains that a direct relationship is quicker, whereas in a union it "often takes months or years to come to a collective bargaining agreement"."A unionised company cannot act quickly on its own if the union does not agree with its position," he said, noting "In both situations, the company remains free to disagree and maintain a different position."He also mentioned that employees don't have to vote for a union in an election if signed up, and encouraged employees to "perform [their] own research on the union".Support the show (https://bit.ly/2XdAlJC)

Danielle Imbo wasn't planning on going out on Saturday, February 19, 2005, but when an old friend and on-and-off-again boyfriend Richard Petrone invited her out to see some live music, she agreed. After all, her son was with his father that weekend, and it had been a while since she had a night out. Around 11:30 PM, Richard and Danielle called it a night. Richard told his friends he was happy about finding a parking spot so close to Abilene's, the bar on bustling South Street in Philadelphia where Danielle and Richard were last seen. With that, Richard and Danielle left the bar to head home as both had plans the next day. 16 years later, Richard, Danielle, and Richard's massive Dodge Dakota truck have never been seen again. What caused two grown people to disappear forever from a crowded area in Philadelphia with literally no evidence? Were the two a target of some random sinister attack? Could something in their past have led to this fateful night? But after realizing this form of “self care” may not be as helpful as advertised, she was re-introduced to cannabis as a medicinal tool. Jessica was transformed, and started an Instagram account under @themommyjane to be an educational resource for other women interested in cannabis. On the pod, Jessica speaks with Brooke about Mommy Jane's purpose and what she's doing to make the industry more equitable and diverse. She discusses what it's like destigmatizing cannabis for women and means to be forward looking in the cannabis world, whether that be partnering with the right advertisers or looking into industry-changing products like cannabinoids. Jessica also talks about the future of another drug — psychedelics — and why everyone should start paying attention to its future.

Jessica Gonzalez is a Mother on a mission! After cannabis significantly improved her life from years of prescription drug and alcohol abuse, Jessica created a cannabis infused "Neighborhood" via her Instagram page @themommyjane where she shares her life as a mom and entrepreneur in the cannabis industry. Jessica truly believes cannabis saved her life, and loves inspiring her "Neighbors" to become advocates of their own health and wellness often sharing ways to consume more mindfully and live more consciously, focusing on the fact that cannabis education, like everything, starts at home. In 2019, she certified as a mindset coach to take her advocacy a step further with the goal of empowering others to change their lives by changing their mindset, emphasizing that cannabis is medicine, but it is not a cure-all. Through education and awareness, Jessica is hoping to use her platform to break the stigma of how CannaMoms are perceived in society, all while changing the mindset of an infantile industry to become more aware of their thoughts, feelings and beliefs so they don't lose the intent of the mission: To normalize, de-stigmatize and decriminalize plant medicine.

She switched from nightly cabernet chugging to micro-dosing cannabis. Soon after, the 100+ pounds of postpartum baby weight that she had been carrying for years began to melt off. She was also able to shed decades of prescription drug and alcohol abuse and replaced them with healthy habits like meditation and mindful living. We often hear about how necessary it is to hustle, grind and work until we’re exhausted and burned out when starting a new business. But is it possible to build a successful business by intentionally growing it slow and without the pressure to grow as quickly as possible? This week on Creativity School, I talk to Jessica Gonzalez, a beekeeper and the founder of Happy Organics, a wellness company that provides honey and CBD products for the body and mind. Jessica shares her journey to accidentally starting her company during a time when she was burned out and exploring the things that made her happy after quitting a tech company she founded. She began helping her father with his bees when he got diagnosed with terminal cancer, and developed honey and CBD products to help with his pain and anxiety. When people started asking to buy them, she had a business. Jessica shares how she was able to keep her company going through the devastating loss of her dad, how her incredible pain became her purpose, and how she’s been able to successfully grow her company slowly and at her own pace by being focused on her values and the bigger picture.     **Today’s episode is brought to you by Audible! For example, a local pediatrician could refuse to care for the child of a same-sex couple and the state licensing agency wouldn't be able to address the pediatrician's unprofessional behavior, or a pharmacist could refuse - without professional consequence - to dispense anti-retroviral drugs because of their religious views on HIV and AIDS. After the hearing the committee voted to advance SB 17 in a 7-1 vote. All the Republicans on the committee and state senator Eddie Lucio Jr. (D) voted in favor of the bill, and state senator Judith Zaffirini (D) voted against it. The bill is now on the way to the Senate floor, and we still have time to contact your State Senator and urge them to reject this harmful piece of legislation. Send a message to your State Senator and ask them to reject SB 17! At least one non-citizen and perhaps many more were improperly registered to vote in California by the Department of Motor Vehicles, prompting the secretary of state to demand a new investigation of the embattled agency Monday. The DMV said about 1,500 people may have been incorrectly registered between April 23 and Sept. 25 due to a “processing error.” That includes legal residents who are not citizens, although the DMV says none of the people mistakenly registered are people living in the country illegally. Incorrect registrations will be canceled by the secretary of state, DMV spokeswoman Jessica Gonzalez said. She and California Department of Technology Director Amy Tong notified the secretary of state about the problem in a Monday letter. It’s the latest issue the department has reported with its new “motor voter” registration system. Last month, the department announced it may have botched about 23,000 voter registrations due to a separate error."
