This episode is all about reshaping waste management in our lives and our communities, with a focus on changing the disposable culture we live in into one where reuse is the standard. Get ready to take some notes! Multi-faceted global CEO & Entrepreneur Jessica Gonzalez, joins us. She has a long history of building and scaling international startups from the ground up, most recently bringing her entrepreneurial spirit and expertise into the world of sustainable waste management as Founder and CEO of Happen Ventures. The time has come for action – for all of us to put our money where our mouth is. I don't mean every single one of us going to zero waste – that's perfection and as we know, perfection is an unattainable goal. But if all of us reused imperfectly, reduced even minimally, and recycled intentionally – we would ALL be better for it. And, as most things do, they start with YOU, and me, and us. From legislative attacks on the rights of trans people, drag performers, and queer people spreading like wildfire to statehouses around the country, to rightwing media relentlessly spewing fascistic anti-LGBTQ+ messages, to far-right groups ramping up their intimidation tactics and violent assaults to force LGBTQ+ people back into the closet, Pride month feels different in 2023. And yet, the rebellious, liberatory spirit of Pride persists, and the struggle for equality, acceptance, and the right to pursue what makes us happy continues—and the labor movement must be a source of strength in that struggle. How far has the labor movement come in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights? How far do we still have to go? And what role can and should labor play in the broader, necessary fight for LGBTQ+ liberation and against the fascist attacks on our fellow workers, our neighbors, and our loved ones? Jessica Gonzalez is a Mother on a mission! After cannabis significantly improved her life from years of prescription drug and alcohol abuse, Jessica created a cannabis infused "Neighborhood" via her Instagram page @themommyjane where she shares her life as a mom and entrepreneur in the cannabis industry. Jessica truly believes cannabis saved her life, and loves inspiring her "Neighbors" to become advocates of their own health and wellness often sharing ways to consume more mindfully and live more consciously, focusing on the fact that cannabis education, like everything, starts at home. In 2019, she certified as a mindset coach to take her advocacy a step further with the goal of empowering others to change their lives by changing their mindset, emphasizing that cannabis is medicine, but it is not a cure-all. Through education and awareness, Jessica is hoping to use her platform to break the stigma of how CannaMoms are perceived in society, all while changing the mindset of an infantile industry to become more aware of their thoughts, feelings and beliefs so they don't lose the intent of the mission: To normalize, de-stigmatize and decriminalize plant medicine.
