By repairing the barbeque and bunkhouse, the Town continues to uphold its promise to preserve the rich history of Steam Pump Ranch. The bunkhouse, which formerly housed staff who worked on the ranch, will now serve as a multi-use space for events and activities. Public restrooms were also installed. The barbecue was originally open to the east and was a primary gathering space before being enclosed and used as a home for one of the former caretakers of the property. Today we talk to Jon Schumacher, Recreation Facility Manager and Matt Jankowski, Interim Director of Parks and Recreation about the newest improvements to Steam Pump Ranch.

In this week's episode, I interview Jon Schumacher. Jon's a really neat marketer I met a few years ago and we hit it off pretty quickly. While he's known for building high quality sales webinars for corporations to close more deals and executives wanting to build a personal brand, Jon shared a side of his story that I hadn't heard before. He's done it all. After being a successful physical therapist with excellent grades after a "so-so" grade average as an undergrad, Jon built up a practice and was quite successful. But as you'll see throughout Jon's journey, things move in waves. After realizing he didn't want to be stuck in that environment, he set out on his own building information products. After a number of trials and tough experiences, including partnerships that didn't work out, growing bored with models as technology changed, and just realizing more about himself, Jon's built up an extremely successful business. The power of this episode for me was really seeing that even though people today can be successful, you never know their journey. Wherever you are today doesn't matter. As long as you're willing to put in the work, focus, experiment, and double down on what's working, you can do anything. Jon's story illustrates this perfectly!

On this episode of the Massimo Show, Rod sits down with webinar coach, webinar consultant, webinar expert, and online marketing advisor Jon Schumacher.  Today Jon is a client acquisition strategist, a webinar specialist and an online marketing advisor to consultants and service providers but he hasn't always been working in the digital world.  Finding Online Marketing:  Jon grew up in rural Idaho on a horse farm. Like many farmers, he would get up and feed horses, buck hay and do his chores. He remembers it as a great place to grow up, but always wanted to leave the small town life behind to see what was out there. He left at 18 and toured around the US.  For Jon his passion was sports and then the human body. “Before I got into marketing, I got my MBA in physical therapy. I practiced for several years.” Jon tells Rod.  But like many aspiring entrepreneurs Jon fell out of love with the idea of working for someone else. He was looking for other ways to generate income and create financial freedom.  He briefly entertained the idea of opening his own PT practice but he didn't want the small business overhead. He turned to the internet. In 2010 he was the first of his kind in publishing PT info on YouTube. “I was selling content like how to fix your back, e-books and video courses. That was how I fell in love with the online world.” Jon recalls.  The adventure began as a part-time hobby and like many, Jon was hesitant to leave his full time job. Eventually, he built up a year's worth of salary before and at the advice of a mentor, struck out on his own. With a buffer of cash and the support of his new wife he had what he needed to help with the transition.  Jon started out in google hangouts software when it was really popular. By the time he went full time, he was a guru on google hangout marketing. He even had a self-published book and a course he sold on joint venture webinars. Back then, it was a big deal to live stream from your computer. There was no Facebook or YouTube live . It was the first economically free live stream platform. He committed to the process and became the self educator of the time. “I started teaching people google hangout and webinars. I pivoted into webinar more broadly.” Jon explains to Rod. “I hosted the webinar mastery summit which was a virtual summit program that generated 8000 subscribers. From there I started offering training programs which led me into the consulting world.”  The Power of a Webinar:  A virtual tool to reach as many people as you can. A consultant that has a database of people and wants to reach them more consistently might send an email saying you are having a training. At the end of that training you will have a percentage of those people who will want to talk to you. But the “build it and they will come” mentality doesn't always apply in the digital world. Once you've mastered the nuts and bolts of webinar hosting the real question becomes: How do you leverage marketing strategies to secure higher quality prospects and transition them to clients? Why bother setting up a webinar when you can be putting a pre-recorded video on a page that they can consume right then and there, and not have to schedule a time and come back to it at another time? What really is the difference between a webinar and a video on a squeeze page? What are some of the biggest mistakes people make when designing or executing a webinar? Am I an exception in not having time to attend a webinar at the scheduled time? There's the live webinar, pre-recorded webinar that only plays at certain times and the hybrid. What are some of the pros and cons of those types? How to find out which one is best for your audience? Most of them say that they're not going to record it, because they want you to attend it live, that is IF they're doing it live. So should you make a recording available? When I go to Facebook, I see literally half the people promoting some kind of a webinar or other. There's so much noise. Jon Schumacher tells us of the benefit of learning from those who already know, but don't just stop there.  Jon spent a ton of time and money taking classes and working with other gurus in various fields to get better at the skills he deemed important.  Once you have that knowledge though, make it your own, put your own spin on it, and combine different areas of knowledge and expertise. Jon Schumacher reveals to us that he isn't the best at work life balance.  He worked a full time job and built his side career, which didn't leave a ton of time for himself.  He's aware of the issue, and he is working to fix it.  Now that he has resigned from his day job, he is going to take back some (not all of that time) for himself and time with his wife. We are very excited to present part 1 of our interview with Jon Schumacher, Entrepreneur, Coach, and Fitness Guru. Jon Schumacher starts the show off with two huge points.  First, he just left a stable success job to work full time on his passion.  Second, he puts it into perspective how much time you have in your life and how much time you have for your loved ones. Jon Schumacher didn't really have the entrepreneur itch until 2010 when he started working on his own personal brand.  After exhausting his Facebook and Google friends, the company crashed.  He was disheartened and left that for the stock market.  He found his way back and started working on his brands again, using his vast knowledge of person fitness to educate and help people.  Also, he did all this while working a full time 'day job'. Jon Schumacher also discusses some of the challenges to overcome when you go off on your own business.  It can be a scary decision to make, but it also offers a ton of opportunity.
