What the deal with people who are part of the mainstream mental health system statistically dying 25 years earlier than the rest of the population

I haven't made a video in a few days I was sort of busy with other things and today I actually watched the healing voices movie because i pre-ordered it and I got it in my email this morning so I washed it right away and it was really well done and I think watching it is a little bit of a turning point in a way because I feel like I want to find other people to talk to who don't necessarily want to be pathologized or medicalized and the main person in the movies oryx Cohen and I didn't know much about him and I don't really want to talk about what happens in the movie too much because it's better to actually get it and watch it something that really did in the beginning and for me it's going back to some of the stuff I talked about before was that people who are part of the mainstream mental health system statistically died 25 years earlier than the rest of the population and I was thinking to myself like I want those 25 years back or I want those 25 years I don't want to think right now that my life is half over I want to think that it's one-third over or maybe a quarter over even and so part of what I want to create a theme of that would be to get those 25 years back and maybe part of that is by transcending the need for the mental health system and they said the hearing voices movement is for people who lived experience of the mental health system trauma and extreme states of consciousness and I would say I meet all three of those criteria and robert whittaker is also in the movie and he mentions listening to people in extreme states or in so-called psychosis and a lot of myself dialogue is to listen to and witness myself and part of it is to unfold context from a place of wellness instead of just waiting from a state where I feel I need someone to witness my distress and usually that gets medicalized i'm thinking it's possible that by witnessing myself unfold a lot of contacts for myself and listen to myself and talk with myself because i realized that not everyone has the time or context to listen to me and understand me whereas i have both of those things and I'm wondering if that will create a bit of an immunity to if trouble ever arises again which it likely will wonder if just as the body can have inflammation and that's sort of a sign of I was talking about how the body can have inflammation and that's a sign of injury maybe when one has information overload in the experience of map consciousness or trans consciousness it's the sign of injury it's like trying to reorganize information around a past trauma experienced or past something and I was thinking about the movie healing voices and the title and how by using my voice to talk to myself it's like an attempt to heal my voice with my own voice and I've talked about in the past how the eagle was like our own voice turned against us and this process of self dialogue is actually my voice turned outward for me to see and listen to an experience as a mirror so in a way I'm healing my own voice with my own voice as opposed to having my voice turned against me and I don't want to say too much about the movie even though if I ever do release this it'll probably be long after the movie has come out anyway but some of the things I thought of while watching the movie that weren't necessarily directly related to what the movie was saying was how it's not so much that these are biological disorders but they're almost like diak reordering in consciousness I feel like it's a guy phenomenon it's from Gaia not really an individual human being and it's attempting to integrate us with Gaia and that's why this consciousness comes in and introduces us to the mysteries of consciousness and sort of the laws of consciousness and how the laws of consciousness are different from the rules of the ego game of society that societies created and it's almost like this energy gives us a glimpse of that mystery and a glimpse of how things actually work and then we come back to consensus reality and I feel like it's up to us in a way to still act based upon some of these other laws of consciousness that we may have experienced and it's even showing us that consciousness is a mystery whereas the ego is in a habitual pattern thinking that it has everything figured out it's like it's giving some of us a glimpse and then wondering well what will they do with this glimpse that I just gave them and unfortunately when we experience this glimpse we might experience suppose it's symptomatic behaviors because we're glimpsing into the laws of consciousness that aren't in accordance with the laws of the ego society so we're going to be in congruent where our body is existing in this realm this order of society and then our consciousness is looking at this other realm our consciousness perspectives aperture zooms out and we have a view from an expanded perspective and so we're operating and acting from this expanded perspective not the mitted ego perspective and when that happens our limited ego that people think that we are that they know us to be starts acting differently aka symptoms but really the symptoms are of trans consciousness and some people I feel have this transplant recipients where they can sometimes spontaneously go into these other states and people desire these other states and put themselves there through chemical means of other types of drugs and things there are many ways to go to that state and only a certain amount people who go to those states actually get diagnosed with a supposed mental illness but it's pretty much a normal experience for that to happen through whatever means and so it really shows that it's almost like consciousness is trying to break free of this prison of the ego society that's been designed because it wants to move towards complexity and I feel like map consciousness and trans consciousness is an act of consciousness on consciousness attempting to free itself it's a movement in consciousness to push away one's individual programming to move them into alignment with the collective consciousness that we all share and since it's shared it can kind of go anywhere it doesn't have the same limits it doesn't experience time the same way and it seems like it's only a temporary release from that prison of the egoic consciousness but I feel like when I think about it that way map consciousness and trans consciousness is actually an act of compassion consciousness being compassionate towards itself in a way and then the test is that the people in egoic consciousness receive this act of compassion by consciousness in consciousness with compassion consciousness is altering supposed personal consciousness away from egocentricity towards world centricity and then when people come back they're not facilitated and supported towards that they're pathologized and called mentally ill like they need to go back to who they were and so consciousness is also doing this in the form of autism it's knocking out that ego at consciousness that's preventing it from taking hold at that young age and it's not to say that people who experience that part of the spectrum of consciousness don't develop any sort of ego it's just that it's not of the same type of the supposedly normal trajectory of ego development it's almost delaying that more so then the child can play longer and play in that pattern recognition learning in a different way other than verbalization state of consciousness for longer and and develop much-needed capacities that we probably aren't really aware of and I feel like the same thing is happening for people who go into map consciousness and trans consciousness and part of it has to do I feel with complexity so as the biodiversity decreases on earth as we destroy species and end ecosystems and environments and nature and rivers and cut down all the trees all this complexities is disappearing and we're having a greater and greater population of human beings so it only makes sense that that sort of lost complexity needs to be transferred into humanity and that's being seen with the expressions of different genders and different intelligences and different consciousness and and so many different expressions that complexity needs to go somewhere and I feel like part of that complexities increasing images in the mental domain so so much more of our world is becoming mental it's about mental stimulation until we basically barely know that the world is there around us and we'll be taken in by virtual reality in at some point and it might have already actually happened and we're just not really aware of it but what I mean is as more and more complexities going towards this inner image making faculty to sort of appease ourselves with images as opposed to acting in the moment the complexity sort of going into the mental domain so then it's possible that some of us are being drawn into that because that's sort of where the complexity is going and I have no idea if that's true but i just recently become a little fascinated with complexity and entropy and thermodynamics and again i have no idea what I'm talking about I'm just sort of wondering and curious about these things and how they relate they did talk in the movie about something just briefly around emotional responses to our natural environment in terms of people who have certain propensity to be a bit more emotional and the thing that I thought was an interesting point to note was that we're not really in a natural environment so it's saying emotional responses to our natural environment well our environments so unnatural is so artificial and that's part of the trouble with consciousness as sort of so detached from nature in the form of human beings and a nature is partly there for us to enjoy and be in awe of and in a state of wonder I was looking at my window and there's these birds and they were just sort of eating something off this sad looking dried-up bush or tree or something and and shaking the snow off and I didn't I don't even know what they were really eating but it was these fat little birds and and I just was sort of struck by what a miracle was that these birds were there and I also remember having an experience that we are the birds like our consciousness goes into the birds at night or something it was really weird and I don't really know how that really works but so I think that's a key to say an emotional response to unnatural environments and so much unnatural stuff that's happening not even just about nature but about ultimate human nature that is underneath all these programs that we've been given these mind viruses so if one is sort of emotional in perceiving in the moment one gets fed a Pima medically things to say and actions to do I think I talked about epigenetics in a way it's like the perception feeds the gesture in the moment as opposed to precognition or cognition and thinking about things before we act it's fed based on our perception and our perception is based on our level of consciousness as well a map consciousness gets us in touch with those inner human dimensions that until that point have been largely mysterious to us and those inner human dimensions those are mysterious those are the mystery and we cover that up with my story my ego consciousness me me my mind I and all that and then we don't experience ourselves and our lives as a mystery because we've already wrote the story we've already decided who we are and what life means and I don't know if I've said it this way before but I feel like the scariness that happens in map consciousness it eventually becomes scary even if it starts out beautiful and wonderful and rich and all that it's almost like it's a way for us to come back to consensus reality because if it kept going like that it would be very difficult to actually reconnect with reality we would no longer really have the perceptual apparatus to even see and experience this consensus reality we'd be so deprogrammed from it so it's almost like we can only go so far for so long and and so much further away from the level of collective consciousness of humanity before we sort of have to snap back but in the meantime we still do change the fabric of reality ever so slightly so it's almost like being an explorer of consciousness and exploring the inner domains of consciousness and so consciousness is trying to expand itself through us trying to increase its complexity and that's not just through chaos it has to actually coalesce into some kind of intelligence system for that complexity to be realized in a way just like a cell had to be created which is it's not random and I was seeing again through watching the movie that I don't want to as much focus on my experiences in the mental health system but what my experiences are pointing to and meaning on a greater whole and by creating this context and changing the meaning of those experiences at least for myself then the other part naturally falls away the need for the system perhaps falls away like what are the messages pointing to Get bonus content on PatreonSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/bipolar_inquiry. HAVE YOU BECOME TOO NUMB TO THE RISKS OF COVID? ARE YOU LETTING YOUR GUARD DOWN?When the pandemic first “hit” and affected the majority of the country, most of us were in a complete state of fear and shock. Think about the first time you went out in a mask and saw others wearing one. Remember the first time you touched an elevator button or used a public rest room after the pandemic began? Hoarding toilet paper, mass supermarket shopping, wiping down every grocery item. FEAR! As is human nature, the more we are exposed to situations that make us anxious, the less fearful we ultimately become. Clinically this is known as systematic desensitization. For example, if someone if fearful of flying, the more they fly, the less fearful they will be. Normally, this is a good thing. As we enter our 7th month of the pandemic, many have adjusted to this new norm.

Lifetime Lockdown? 40% Of Americans Will Avoid Public Spaces Long After Coronavirus Pandemic EndsHere’s hoping you enjoyed the last movie or concert you attended, because if the results of a new survey are accurate, it may be a long, long time before such events are ever popular again. According to the research, 40% of Americans plan to avoid public spaces unless “absolutely necessary” long after the coronavirus pandemic has subsided. The survey, commissioned by Vital Vio, asked 1,000 U.S. adults about how they envision every day life in the wake of the coronavirus. All in all, it looks like there are suddenly a whole lot more germaphobes in the land of the free. Over four in five (82%) said they are now more aware of, and concerned about, cleaning protocols in public areas. Additionally, 58% are more suspicious about their friends’ and family’s hygiene habits. Next year’s Thanksgiving could get interesting.Even among those who said they will return to public spaces eventually, it isn’t going to happen immediately. A third will wait a few weeks, and 26% will wait one or two months. Some respondents (16%) went so far as to say that they’re unsure if they’ll ever feel comfortable out in public again.------------Hosted by Dr. John Huber, Mainstream Mental Health Radio (featured on the Mental Health News Radio network) covers today’s top headlines pertaining to psychology. In Episode 81, Dr. Dan and Dr. Huber tackle a tough and essential teen parenting topic: the link between social media and depression.   Dr. John Huber is the Chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a non-profit organization that brings lasting and positive change to the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues.  Dr. Huber has been a mental health professional for over twenty years (including working as a school psychologist) and has worked with children, families, teens, adults, and veterans.  He is a Clinical Forensic Psychologist, and a practitioner with privileges at two long term acute care hospitals. Dr. Huber has appeared on over three hundred top tier radio shows (NBC Radio, CBS, Fox News Radio) and thirty national television programs (ABC, NBC, Spectrum News). In addition Dr. Huber is the host of “Mainstream Mental Health Radio” which is heard nationwide and features interviews with today’s top mental health professionals. Today’s episode is inspired by a recent study stating that "Social Media Use [is] Linked To Depression Among Teens" and that social media use plus screen time can lead to an increase in depression and anxiety among teens and adolescents. In the study, researchers measured how much time students spent in front of social media, television and computers. The data revealed the more time kids spent engrossed in digital screens, their symptoms of anxiety and depression became more severe.  Dr. Dan talks to Dr. Huber about the study, depression among teens, teen behaviors, and how social media affects their mental health.  They focus on questions and topics including:  What are some things parents can look out for if they think their child is depressed? What anxiety looks like vs. depression in teens that are struggling? How are they related?   How do you think that social media has changed the way people interact with each other and develop relationships with each other?     Common red flags in teen behavior such as: isolation, decrease in eye contact, irritability, and more.  How do you think the way that information flows in social media deviates from the way it did in previous traditional societies?  And related: should you monitor your teen’s digital world? Should you limit a teen’s screen time? How can you let your teen self-regulate but also be involved? Many people are taught to be wary of mental health labels. Dr. Huber works to reduce the stigma of “mental health” treatment. His goal is to empower the young person to make positive changes in his/her life before a crisis evolves.  In particular his work changes lives and helps our children break the stigma (and even shame) of mental health and seek treatment proving that we can all embrace each other and our differences as part of the human condition. The show ends with Dr. Huber’s great Parent Footprint moment about his own childhood. Watch this free video to learn more about Dr. Dan and Parent Footprint Awareness Training®.

Let's first look at what's happening:For the first time ever, we have five generations in the workplace. People are living longer and working longer, so we have workers as young as 18 and as old as 80s. There is a big difference between how an 18-year-old views the world and how an 80-year-old views the world, because of the eras in which they were raised—what was going on when they were growing up, the generally accepted societal practices of the times.Additionally, we have two generations — Millennials and Gen Z — that are forcing a level of change that we have not seen in our society since the Hippy Counterculture movement of the 1960s and 70s.All of this change is causing defensiveness, anger, frustration, as well as stress and fear. Why is change causing all of these negative emotions? The simple answer is that human beings are hard-wired to resist change. The part of our brain that is responsible for this is the amygdala, known as "the reptilian brain."The amygdala is an almond-shaped mass of cells that lives deep in our brain and is responsible for our automatic stress responses known as fight, flight or freeze. The amygdala is programmed throughout our lives and it stores all of the memories and emotional reactions we have. Negative memories leave a bigger impression. It is this brain process that causes us to become rooted in our beliefs and to stay with what we like and to resist that which we don't like. Things that are familiar make us feel calm and comfortable. Things that are unfamiliar bring up stress. As a result, that which is different from us and different from what we're used to can cause mental-emotional issues, such as stress, anger, and fear. This can manifest as depression and anxiety, among other mental health issues. Is it possible to embrace change? Yes!Some people are naturally inclined to do it. Depending on their experience in life, they have become accustomed to or may even enjoy change. Others are more rooted in their beliefs and ways.As human beings, we have the capacity for understanding. Through understanding, we learn. Through learning, we change.======================Dr. John Huber (www.mainstreammentalhealth.org) is the Chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a non-profit organization that brings lasting and positive change to the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues. Playing Sports, Especially In College, Linked To Better GradesSigning your kids up for soccer in the fall and lacrosse in the spring may do more for them than build social skills or turn them into athletes. A study by researchers at Michigan State University shows that playing sports can also lead to improved academic performance, particularly for college students. The study found that playing recreational sports in college improved the grade point averages (GPA) of students and increased the likelihood for them to return for another term. The researchers analyzed almost 1,800 freshmen at MSU. The students who played intramural sports averaged a 3.25 GPA at the end of their first year, compared to a 3.07 GPA for freshmen who didn’t play recreational sports. The findings also showed that playing intramural sports was linked to lower odds of students dropping or failing classes their first year. In fact, those who played recreational sports were 40% more likely to return for their sophomore year, and 2.5 times more likely to come back to the university overall.================About Dr. HuberDr. John Huber (www.mainstreammentalhealth.org) is the Chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a non-profit organization that brings lasting and positive change to the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues. Why Shorter Days & Less Sunlight Can Lead To Depression •With the end of Daylight Saving Time comes an extra hour of sleep and, sometimes, a bout with depression. The Mayo Clinic defines seasonal depression or Seasonal Affective Disorder (which affects around 1.6 billion people across the globe) as depression that's linked to the change of seasons, usually fall and winter.•According to research, the exact causes are unknown, but it's believed the lack of sunlight can not only lead to a drop in mood-affecting brain chemicals, but also negatively impact the body's biological clock. Someone with seasonal depression might feel a lack of energy, lost interest in activities and a feeling of depression most of the day.STORY LINK: https://wtkr.com/2019/11/07/shorter-days-less-sunlight-can-lead-to-depression-heres-how-to-fight-it/ Dr. John Huber (www.mainstreammentalhealth.org) is the Chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a non-profit organization that brings lasting and positive change to the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues. A Nation Divided: U.S. Politics Taking Physical, Emotional Toll On AmericansThe past few years in American politics have been tumultuous, to say the least. Personal political beliefs aside, there is no denying that the U.S. has grown especially divided in the wake of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential election victory. Between social media bots, partisan news coverage, and the president’s frequent Twitter posts, it has never been harder for the average American to avoid being bombarded with some type of political message on an almost hourly basis. It isn’t a stretch to assume that at some point all of that polarization would have a negative effect on the collective well being of the nation, and a new study conducted at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has effectively confirmed this assumption. According to researchers, the current U.S. political climate is literally making Americans physically sick, damaging friendships, and driving many people “crazy.”In March of 2017 researchers surveyed 800 Americans, selected from a pool of 1.8 million in order to create representative samples of the U.S. population. A shocking one in five respondents say they feel anxious so often that they actually believe they are dealing with an undiagnosed anxiety disorder. The survey, put together by CBD company Endoca, polled Americans on their day-to-day anxious feelings and discovered that the average American experiences five anxious moments every day.Interestingly, these anxious moments often lead to feelings of self-consciousness as well; 43% of respondents say they’ve been overwhelmed by their anxiety, which then causes them to feel embarrassed. In fact, almost three quarters of respondents say they are embarrassed after every single anxious moment.Dr. John Huber (www.mainstreammentalhealth.org) is the Chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a non-profit organization that brings lasting and positive change to the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues. 1 In 8 Americans Consider Moving More Stressful Than Jail! We all know that moving is stressful. From packing all of our worldly possessions into boxes to planning out our new home’s layout, moving is almost always a difficult job that leads to some extra stress. However, a new survey of 2,000 Americans has revealed that many people consider moving to be among the most stressful situations they can imagine — even more so than spending a week in jail! The survey, commissioned by the storage company Life Storage, asked participants to compare the stress of moving with other, highly stressful situations. Surprisingly, 13% of survey respondents — about one in eight — said that moving is more stressful than a week in jail. Another 27% said it’s more stressful than a job interview, and 23% said it is more stressful than planning a wedding. All of that stress doesn’t just occur on moving day either. During the process of planning and executing a move, survey participants said they expect to lose two nights of sleep, put in four hours of hard labor, procrastinate for three hours, have two arguments with a roommate or romantic partner, and cry out of frustration twice.Dr. John Huber (www.mainstreammentalhealth.org) is the Chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a non-profit organization that brings lasting and positive change to the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues. Online Dating Lowers Self-Esteem & Increases Depression, Studies Say •Dating apps are a booming business, but they may be taking a toll on their users' mental health. You send a message to a match that goes unanswered. You swipe right and never have it reciprocated. You go on a date, only to be "ghosted" afterward. Rejection hurts, and not just metaphorically. Being turned down stimulates the same part of the brain that processes physical pain, according to a 2011 study from the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.•Instead of one rejection at a bar on a Saturday night, the popularity of online dating gives users many more opportunities to feel rejected faster. Dating apps are only growing in popularity, with no sign of slowing. Match.com has more than 7 million paid subscribers, an increase from 3.4 million in 2014. How Mental Health Warrants Could Be A Legal, Sensible & Effective Means of Preventing Future Mass Murders - •Mainstream Mental Health has identified an approach to address school and mass shooting threat concerns. The main need is a mental health warrant to search to validate the threat which has to be investigated by police. •If there’s evidence to support it, it has to go back to the judge, and then the judge would issue a warrant to the individual to have a Licensed Clinical Forensic Psychologist assess them primarily for potential risk of violence and other potential mental health issues. If the person refuses to comply, they can be arrested on Contempt of Court, and then the evaluation would be completed in jail. The way to go about this is though the following methods:1. A Mental Health Warrant would need to be drafted by local law enforcement to investigate the potential for violence. This could be after a report was made by someone else online (i.e., threats made on YouTube comments, 4Chan, Facebook, etc.), or in the person's social circle, who has observed the threats made by the individual. This would then be reviewed and possibly approved by a judge2. If approved by the Judge, an investigation would take place by local officials to determine the likelihood of threats, and would then report back to the courts. If no significant threat is identified, the investigation would be closed, the individual may be contacted to let them know that their actions have consequences, and to make sure they understand the implications of those actions. 3. If a notable threat is found, the judge could then order a risk evaluation, the individual would then have to meet with a Forensic Psychologist to assess them for being a reasonable and identifiable threat. This provision is specific, as Forensic Psychologists are specially trained in evaluating threat assessments in a legal manner.4. If the person refuses to comply with the order, then the judge can order that the individual is in contempt of a court order, and then the individual can be assessed while incarcerated.=======Mental Health Perspectives is hosted by:Dr. John Huber (www.mainstreammentalhealth.org) is the Chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a non-profit organization that brings lasting and positive change to the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues. Featured Guest Ivy Slater discusses: Managing Stress as a Female Lady BossWebsite: https://slatersuccess.com/Speaking Points:As a female lady boss, you have to learn to manage it all. You are the lead visionary, top decision-maker and the person your team relies on for support and guidance. If you show up daily at your best, with a clear head, centered and rested, stress is automatically lessened.Put yourself first. Think about when you are on an airplane and you are instructed to put on your own oxygen mask first before helping others. That is exactly the advice to follow as you lead a team and an organization.Great leaders have dedicated health and wellness practices in place and they don’t let anything interfere with those practices. Starting your day with a meditation practice, gratitude exercise, jog in the park or yoga at the studio with friends can impact how you react to stress throughout the rest of the day. Be aware of your food and drink intake. Caffeine and sugar are nice for an energy boost, but too much can affect your stress management. And don’t forget the simple method of controlled breathing.Take three deep breaths when transitioning between activities at work. Between meetings, before checking email, before a phone chat with a client, take the time to breathe, let go of any stress from the past activity and get into the moment of the work you are about to do.When you take care of yourself, you ultimately take care of everyone else. A healthy and positive leader funnels that energy down to their team and their clients, creating a business built on joy and passion, not stress and overwhelm.=======Mental Health Perspectives is hosted by:Dr. John Huber (www.mainstreammentalhealth.org) is the Chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a non-profit organization that brings lasting and positive change to the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues. In fact, the benefits of laughter extend to better mental health and is an indicator of better physical health as well. Laughter has been shown to both lower blood pressure and improves blood flow, both of which lead to better cardiovascular health and reduce your chances of suffering a heart attack or stroke. If two people are laughing together, they will feel more emotionally connected. This makes laughter a great tool if you are going on a date or trying to make friends with a coworker. The endorphins that laughter releases not only provide you with an energy boost, they also are a powerful way to reduce stress. Endorphins work to reduce stress by counteracting the output of the stress-causing hormone cortisol and providing you with a sense of euphoria. Featured Guests Include: 04:11 – Stephen T.
