Greetings, fellow listeners. Doc & Son recap catching Michael Rapaport live at the Miami Improv with previous guest Bob Sandler and recurring guest Rene Rivero on December 1st. Doc gives his opinion on Rapaport's comedic style and I recall me and Rene getting stupidly lucky meeting Rapaport at the club entrance and fanboying like crazy. We also talk about my current condition of having chest pains with my gastrointestinal problems and an extremely nasty scenario involving my sister voiding her bowls on the rug in my bathroom the day before. Also, I mention numerous movie anniversaries and famous birthdays and apologize to my dad through the mellowness of Da Boss with his underrated piece "My Father's House" from his album "Nebraska".

We close the segment out discussing the upcoming Heavyweight Boxing bouts. Following this, Tobin recaps his first day at training camp as Leroy explains some unwritten rules of the first two weeks of Football. From making music to doing stand-up comedy, Lee Smith is an entertainer's entertainer. Born and raised in Miami, FL, Lee was placed in Gifted classes in Elementary school. Goofing off in class was an everyday thing, as he still completed his assignments. Elected as Class Clown, he knew that comedy was in the cards dealt to him. Unsure of what to do after high school, Lee enlisted in the US ARMY. From there, he formed lifetime bonds and connections with people. Once out of the military, Lee focused on music, honing his craft. Incorporating lyricism with humor, comedy would still play a role somehow. While watching “Funny People”, an epiphany was had; try doing stand-up comedy. If the people like it, the shift will be towards comedy. Fortunately he received a standing ovation during his first show. Within a year, Lee won the Turkey Fest competition at the Miami Improv. From writing to performing, there isn't much Lee Smith can't do to keep you entertained.

This is our second of a three part series hearing from comedy club managers. This week, it's Justin & Melissa from the Miami Improv. They share first-hand encounters from a comedy club build on an Indian reservation. Old Miami Improv | Wheelchair Ramp: The Old Miami Improv was in a district known as Coconut Grove. We had a regular that would come every Tuesday show with Benji Brown. He was a retired disabled veteran named Gerald who lived nearby and would roll up in his wheelchair. One night he left early and without paying his bill which is not like him, but we thought maybe he forgot, and we would square away with his next bill. Tuesday came and we heard the wheelchair ramp creaking, so we knew he was coming up to get his tickets. We waited and he did not come to the window, so I stepped out and did not see him, I Looked around and no one else was there. Turns out the night he left early he went home and passed. She gave us his memorial and thanked us for always taking care of him and said she knew he would always be around us. Do YOU have a ghost story? Anjelah wants to hear it. Aziatikk Blakk will be interviewing & honoring JJ From Da Sipp Jackson, Mississippi native Jeremiah “JJ” Williamson has taken the comedy world by storm with his uncanny relatability, charismatic wit and hometown country flava. As one of the most sought after Comedians in the industry, J.J. is definitely a force to be reckoned with as he rises to the top showcasing his versatility as a comedian and actor. Since 1995 J.J. has been on the grind performing in comedy clubs all across the country and tickling audiences both domestic and international. Having graced the stage in working with some of the most notable names in the comedy such as Chris Tucker, D.L Hughley, and Rickey Smiley, J.J. has remained humble all while taking his success in stride or as he often meekly states he’s just “paying his dues”. For the past 15 years as the opening act for one of the Original Kings of Comedy, Cedric “The Entertainer”, J.J. continues to electrify stages and captivate audiences all across the globe in reputable venues such as the Los Angeles and Miami Improv, the Comedy Store in L.A, Chicago House of Blues, Caroline’s of New York and the infamous Apollo Theatre in Harlem. In addition to gut-busting comedy routines, J.J. tenaciously demonstrated his ambidexterity by taking his comedic talent to the big screen in his acting debut, co-starring as the hilarious Cousin Bodie in the hit movie Johnson Family Vacation alongside Cedric “The Entertainer, Vanessa Williams, Bow-Wow and Steve Harvey. He has made several appearances on major networks like BET and HBO, as well as shows such as The Monique Show, Russell Simmons’s Def Comedy Jam, and the comedy series “Cedric The Entertainer Presents”: The Platinum Comedy Series – Starting Line-Up, BET’s Comicview and Laffapalooza. Therefore, it came to no surprise when he effortlessly earned the Bay Area Comedy Competition award in 2000. J.J. also starred in Even Odds 2016 & No Filter 2015. As one of the most sought-after comedians in the industry, Jeremiah J.J Williamson continues to rock the stage of sold out shows from the east coast to the west coast and all those in between; Yet he still finds time to give back by performing for the U.S troops in Korea. From his hysterical catch phrases to that country twang, audiences of young and old boast about his relatability and infectious humor.

Ronnie Ray is a stand up comedian, actor, improvisor and worked on The Playboy Channel with naked ladies. He was part of a well know improv group "Oui Be Negroes" and tells us about their first San Francisco show where this Robin Williams guy showed up. We talk about his LA days at The Comedy Store, we share hooker stories and he tells his Miami Improv bombing story. He shares the three rules to marriage a road headliner at Tribble Run show told him, and it involves condoms. There is more hooker and stripper talk than Ronnie expected and I share my first experience with a larger lady who was a former meth user. PreviewOn Spokes, we talk with some of the film industry’s greatest minds. What we usually do not hear about is an actor’s point of view of the business. In this episode, we welcome Michael Vitovich to the show to discuss the struggles and successes of an acting career. Michael is known for his work on Showtime’s The Good Lord Bird, Netflix’s Wasp Network, and Investigation Discovery’s Homicide Hunter. Born in Cleveland and now residing in Miami (similar to where a famous basketball player took his talents to in 2010!), Michael talks about his experiences on-set. Whether it is local productions where he is not just acting but helping with crew work, to bigger sets where he receives preferential treatment, he goes through it all. He also discusses the struggles of working in Miami and the opportunities he had to create after being fired from his regular job. This May, he is performing at the Miami Improv to bring a dark comedy approach to his career performing autopsies.Talking Points-Michael’s Journey through odd jobs to support his acting career-The importance of networking, especially in a town where film is in the decline-The differences in working on smaller sets compared to large, big-budget gigs-Projects he has been involved in-The directing acting is headed-How he markets himself as an actor-The actor/crew member relationshipSocial Media-Facebook: Michael Vitovich-Twitter: @MorgueCandy-IG: morguecandy

Born and raised in Jackson, MI Katrina Pope, moved to Atlanta the summer of 1996, started putting her vision of becoming a comedienne together on February 18, 2010, when she woke up to an epiphany. “I want to be a comedian!” She immediately started to follow her dreams. The road to where she is known wasn't easy but she's remained determined, aggressive and humble the entire way.A self-proclaimed “professional student” she has worked various jobs throughout her life, to include being in the Military for 10 years, Paralegal, Esthetician, and Bartender. Never being able to find excitement in Corporate American, coupled with being fired for her “attitude not being conducive to the work environment” she started bartending. Bartending allowed her to develop her alter ego “Kspot”. Her flexible schedule of bartending 3 days a week, allowed Katrina to attend, St. Leo University and finally graduate in June 2009 with a BA in Criminal. She later decided to take the LSAT in hopes of becoming a Criminal Defense Attorney, yet quickly learned a score of 125, was more like her ideal weight that an competitive score to attend law school.Already known for her “Brutally Honest” attitude, Katrina quickly familiarized herself with the stage. Katrina Pope started her comedy career in Montgomery AL, opening up for the nationally respected comedian Doug Williams on April 9, 2010. Despite the microphone malfunctions and colorful language, Katrina, was able to make the crowd laugh and look good while doing it. After her first show, she developed her tagline “I just look like this” after getting several sideways compliments from the crowd on her looks. “I just look like this” let everybody know that even though she's cute and prissy, she's been through some trials in her life and she's able to relate to all women. In less than 6 months, Katrina has performed for a sold out crowd in her hometown of Jackson, MI, along with gracing the stage at Uptown Comedy Club, Laughing Skull, Phat Comedy, Atl House of Comedy, Back Stage with Bruce Bruce, Miami Improv, West Palm Improv, (opening act for comedy veteran Marvin Dixon) Laugh Lounge, in New York, Moca lounge in Harlem, NY, and hosting her own comedy room and New Year Eve's Party at the legendary Justin's Restaurant.
