Parental alienation is one of the most heartbreaking and complex challenges parents can face during and after divorce. It leaves families fractured and kids caught in the middle, often feeling torn between two parents. In this episode, I dive deep into the court system's current approach to parental alienation and why it so often fails to protect children. If you've been alienated from your child or fear it may happen, this conversation is essential for understanding what's at stake and how you can fight back. Together with Michele Locke, Esq., we explore the limitations of the legal system and why parental alienation cases are so hard to navigate, particularly when it comes to jury trials. Michele shares her personal and professional experiences, from her time on the bench handling over 5,000 family law cases to her private practice dealing with the most extreme custody battles. Her unique perspective, having been on both sides of the courtroom and living through divorce herself, sheds light on the deep-rooted issues that plague the system. Michele is a former Associate Family Court Judge with over two decades of experience as an attorney, judge, and advocate. She's fought in the trenches, witnessing firsthand how parental alienation plays out in real life. As a lawyer in Texas, the only state that still allows jury trials in custody cases, Michele brings us behind the scenes with stories from her career, offering valuable insights on how to approach these cases and protect your rights as a parent. Whether you're currently in the middle of a divorce or simply want to prepare yourself, you'll walk away with actionable steps and a better understanding of how to navigate this difficult terrain. I know a LOT of people who are living a life and career that someone else said they should live. Even when that life is slowly draining the life out of them. They told you to follow the rules, be loyal, and work hard. If you do that, then you will have security and be supported. You will be safe. So you did it. At first it was okay-ish. You told yourself, “I can do this. This is how it is right? I mean I did all the ‘right' things. Once I pay my dues, it will get better.” So you pretended you didn't feel the pit in your stomach when they talked over and ignored you. You ignored the heart-sinking disappointment when you asked for what you wanted and they said no. They implied they'd let you go if you wanted to do things your way. Everything you were ever “told to do” flashed through your head. And you understood. Bend over backwards, sacrifice your happiness and integrity, keep your mouth shut, don't rock the boat. And above all, shut down your spark, your creative force, and who you truly are. And lucky you… for all of this you get a paycheck (insert sarcastic tone here). Maybe you wondered about the generations before you. Did they sacrifice their soul and give up on their happiness too? The thing is, every day you made the choice to stay. You weighed your spark, your joy, and your integrity against a paycheck. And the paycheck won. I mean I get it, it's scary to walk away and carve your own path…to go against that so-called “proven formula” everyone told you was the “right” way. But you only get one life. And it's up to you to make the most of it. Most people need to do this one step at a time. And honestly, that's the best way. Because jumping to the end, without the middle steps, is like building a house without a foundation. Once a big storm comes along, it will collapse. There will always be storms, but when you build your foundation one step at a time, it will be strong enough to weather any future storm. I love helping people create strong foundations for their dream careers. And I love talking to people who've already done it. We all can learn something from Michele Ostrowski. She was raised in a male driven, religious cult. After a terrible trauma she asked permission to do what was best for her, and they said they'd have to “mark” her. She did it anyway, and step by step she carved her own path. Today she owns a company where she takes great care of her employees and pays them well. She raises them up and paves a way for them to thrive. The result is that they're happier and do better work. She's created an environment where everyone is winning. She founded Dyenamic Media LLC to help small businesses and entrepreneurs grow their businesses through profitable online marketing strategies. Her brain is constantly churning out creative ideas, whether it's an innovative digital subscription product for a local florist or helping a hair salon pivot during the pandemic. After working 18 years in communications and marketing for universities and sports teams, Michele quit her job and went back to school to pursue a master's in executive leadership. This experience fueled her desire to run her own business where she can serve small business owners and entrepreneurs. She has a knack for identifying problems and coming up with creative solutions, and she loves working with businesses to develop new digital products to diversify their revenue streams. An award-winning designer, Michele enjoys bringing brands to life through creative visuals. She also has a professional background in photography and has served as a team photographer for the Florida Gators football team during the Tim Tebow era. Prior to that opportunity, she photographed several NFL and MLB games, as well as a wide range of collegiate sports (back when cameras had film). A third-generation Gator, Michele graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She earned her master's degree with highest honors from Liberty University School of Business in 2019. In this episode I am speaking with Michele Drake, a fellow Canadian, who has 30 years experience in health and fitness, as well as being a free-lance journalist. She recently embarked on a journey with a publishing company. She believes that helping people in their darkness is important at this time, and that banding together as a society is going to move us forward. In this episode we chat about: 1) Some soul questions so you can get to know Michele, things she enjoys and things that are important to her. 2) Having children who have faced their own difficulties and the deep love and inspiration they provide. Michele's children are so strong and admirable. 3) Lack of belief in positive outcomes or limiting beliefs that have been passed down through generations and how those can still affect us years later. The work that is required beyond "just be positive". How you are here to break the struggles from past ancestors. In this case, you don't have to choose between love and abundance. 4) Dark times are going to come up and they don't just go away. "Things come in threes" and I would often notice it would be like 6, 9. How many more things. Then, you think that you're home free. Someone says you went through that with so much grace. "What other choice did I have?" 5) Michele shares about her experiencing over an 8 month period moving away from her marriage during a turbulent time, having her Mom passing away suddenly, caring for her Gran who her mother had cared for, an uncle passing away and then her Gran passing. She learned how to get through the tornadoes happening all around you. She shares some of the things she leaned into during those dark nights of the soul. “In order to be of service to others they have to first take care of themselves. A lot of people see that as selfish, it's actually selfless” Michele has also offered to share information about the supplements with anyone who is interested so send her a private message for details.
