In this episode, I sit down with CNBC senior correspondent and author, Julia Boorstin, to break down what she discovered after interviewing hundreds of the world's most innovative CEOs. Julia shares why women receive only a fraction of venture capital funding, how “pattern matching” quietly shapes who gets opportunities, and why today's volatile world demands a new kind of leader. Get ready to rethink the archetype of a CEO and discover the skills that will define the next generation of leaders. In This Episode You Will Learn Why only a FRACTION of funding goes to women. How “PATTERN MATCHING” shapes who gets promoted, funded, and trusted. Why today's leaders need AQ (ADAPTABILITY QUOTIENT) more than ever. When to DIAL DOWN CONFIDENCE to gather better information. How HUMILITY creates smarter and faster decisions in crisis. Why GRATITUDE fuels long-term thinking and better leadership. How to draw out QUIETER VOICES so the best ideas win. Whether you're just starting your private practice or navigating your first year in the field, this episode provides actionable advice on: Understanding salary expectations and budgeting as a dietitian. Common pitfalls to avoid in your first year. Creating a payment plan that balances personal and business needs. Planning for taxes and reinvesting in your business. Evaluating and adjusting your salary over time. Libby shares real-life stories from dietitians she has coached, as well as practical tips to help you set realistic income goals, manage expenses, and build financial stability in your business. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Dietitian Salary Expectations: Average salaries range from $50,000 to $70,000 annually, varying by location and setting. First-year private practice income often ranges between $30,000 and $50,000. Budgeting Tips for Your First Year: Separate personal and business expenses using tools like QuickBooks or Wave. Allocate funds for essentials like website hosting, marketing tools, liability insurance, and more. Avoid common pitfalls, such as underestimating marketing costs or neglecting analytics. How to Pay Yourself: Start with a modest salary that covers essential living expenses. Allocate 20% of your revenue for reinvestment into your business. Automate salary payments to maintain consistency and reduce financial stress. Planning for Taxes: Set aside 25-30% of your income for taxes to avoid surprises during tax season. Keep detailed records of deductible expenses, such as software, home office costs, and professional development. Evaluating and Adjusting Your Salary: Conduct quarterly financial reviews to track income, expenses, and business growth. Use data from these reviews to make informed decisions about salary adjustments, hiring, or reinvestments. Building a Strong Foundation: The first year is about learning and growing. Together, they share personal experiences, actionable strategies, and mindset shifts to help dietitians succeed regardless of their follower count.Bio: Krista Kolodziejzyk (RD, MPH, MBA) is a registered dietitian, entrepreneur, and founder of Dietitian Success Center, an online learning platform designed to empower dietitians and dietetic interns. With an MBA in Sustainable Commerce and an MPH in Community Nutrition, Krista has leveraged her skills to build a multi six-figure. She also teaches Nutrition Communication Strategies at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she mentors and inspires students as a lecturer and preceptor. Outside of her professional achievements, she's an avid baker, reader, and endurance athlete, having completed an Ironman triathlon and a 60-kilometer ultramarathon. What You'll Learn from this Episode: Can You Succeed with a Small Audience? Krista shares how her niche audience of dietitians, with under 3,000 Instagram followers, has been instrumental in growing her membership program. Libby emphasizes that success is not about follower count but about engagement, strategy, and sales skills. Mindset Shifts for Social Media Success Reframe your mindset: Every view or interaction represents a real person. Focus on building quality relationships rather than playing the volume game. Metrics That Matter Look beyond follower count to metrics like shares, saves, and overall engagement. Use feedback and analytics to refine your messaging and content strategy. The Importance of Strategy Over Tactics Identify your audience's biggest problems and craft content that addresses their needs. Avoid spending excessive time perfecting one piece of content; prioritize experimentation and repetition to learn what resonates. Practical Tips for Small Audience Success Start small: Build relationships one member at a time. Value your current community, even if it's small, and focus on delivering value to them. Develop both your audience-building and sales-conversion skills to maximize results. Avoiding Comparison Focus on your own growth rather than comparing yourself to others in your field. Recognize that content marketing is a skill that requires practice and time to master. Did you know that around 95% of your behaviours come from your subconscious mind? For most of us, this means living much of our lives on autopilot. But what if I told you that reprogramming this 'hidden' part of your mind is not only possible, it also has the potential to completely transform your life?   This week, I'm thrilled to welcome Dr Bruce Lipton back to my podcast. Dr Lipton began his career as a cell biologist graduating from the University of Virgina, before joining the Department of Anatomy at the University of Wisconsin's School of Medicine in 1973. Today, he describes his work as bridging science and spirituality and in his bestselling book The Biology of Belief, he sets out the idea that our thoughts affect all the cells in our body.   Many of you really enjoyed my first conversation with Dr Lipton all the way back on Episode 308 of the show, and in this brand-new episode, we continue our deep dive into the fascinating world of the subconscious mind and its profound influence on our daily lives.   During our conversation, we explore four common beliefs that hold many of us back, including the idea that external circumstances control our lives and that our happiness is reliant on the actions of others. We discuss the importance of taking full responsibility for our lives and the value of extending compassion towards ourselves. We also delve into the benefits of living with positive energy, the significance of routines and intentional living and the power of consciousness in shaping our reality, including our perception of ageing.   Dr Lipton is warm, compassionate and honest - and this episode is full of practical wisdom, that I'm certain will empower you to make positive changes, by understanding the incredible power of your mind.   Support the podcast and enjoy Ad-Free episodes. Today's returning guest is Dr Bessel van der Kolk. Bessel is a professor of psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine and President of the Trauma Research Foundation. He's also the author of the iconic book, 'The Body Keeps the Score', which first came out over 10 years ago and has sold millions of copies all around the world. In fact, the book has been somewhat of an international sensation and is as popular today as it ever has been.   In this conversation, we discuss the meaning of trauma and how it's different from stress. Bessel shares common signs of trauma and describes how traumatic experiences leave a physical imprint in our bodies, which can contribute to a variety of physical and mental health problems. Interestingly, despite his extensive work with patients who have gone through some quite horrific, traumatic events, Bessel is still very optimistic about the world and what he has seen has deepened his belief and faith in human resilience.   We talk about healing and the many methods and techniques that Bessel has found to be helpful.  He explains why he thinks that body-oriented therapies such as yoga can play such a vital role and he also explains why he is so passionate about the new research on psychedelic-assisted therapy - for trauma, depression, OCD, and addiction. He explains how these treatments can essentially 'reboot' the brain, opening up new possibilities for healing.*   Throughout the conversation, we emphasise the crucial role of human interaction and supportive communities in dealing with trauma and fostering resilience. Bessel also offers some valuable advice for parents on raising resilient children.   This conversation really is one of hope and positivity. Yes, sometimes life presents us with some challenging times, but as BESSEL MAKES VERY CLEAR - we ALL have a remarkable capacity to move on, change and heal.   Throughout our conversation, Bessel's message is one of hope and the remarkable capacity of humans to change and heal. He provides practical suggestions for those beginning to address their own trauma, including approaches that are affordable and widely available. This is a powerful and insightful discussion with one of the world's leading authorities on trauma. I hope you enjoy listening.   *PLEASE NOTE: the psychedelic compounds discussed are illegal in many countries around the world and, as Bessel says, these drugs should only be taken under the guidance of trained healthcare professionals.   Support the podcast and enjoy Ad-Free episodes.
