Nicholle Overkamp is the Founder and CEO of Wilcox Financial Group, LLC and PowHERhouse Money Coaching. She is a personal finance expert who specializes in helping women gain confidence in wealth building, set themselves up for retirement, and live an abundant life. After leaving a toxic financial firm where the “boys club” was the norm, Nicholle shifted to start her own business. As she worked with more women, she noticed common themes: hitting the “ignore” button on your finances, procrastination, and shame. Overkamp knows that even smart, driven, and high-earning women can fall into these patterns. With her clients, Nicholle works to overcome these common pitfalls by challenging existing money mindsets, creating goal-oriented spending plans, and building confidence. She shares that wealth isn't created overnight, and “what you do daily is more important than what you do once in a while.” On this episode of Money Loves Women, join Dr. Deborah Ekstrom and Nicholle Overkamp to learn how to overcome the autopilot mindset around your money, how thoughtless spending could be related to mental illness and addiction recovery, and how to harness your internal power to make money choices that work for you. Making Wise Financial Decisions Nicholle Overkamp is todays guest joining us on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots business coaching. She's the Founder and CEO of Wilcox Financial Group and PowHERhouse Money Coaching which focuses on business coaching for ambitious women, wealth coaching and educational programming! . It was founded to create an environment that's progressive and client centric with outstanding high-touch service and to learn from the lessons that life taught her day after day. As she says “I want to teach you what NOT to do, because well, I've probably done it. I have been unappreciated, undervalued, overwhelmed, and STUCK. I've worked long days with no momentum. I've feared judgment and failure. I've cried myself to sleep knowing there must be a better way! She goes on to say “We can't predict what challenges we'll be faced with, but we can be financially prepared for them. Money doesn't prevent us from having problems, but it sure does give us options when they occur. Building wealth is about making your money work for you – even when you're not working. And to really ram the message home “When a woman builds her own wealth, a man with money isn't a ladder or an upgrade- he's a bonus.” So why do so many people make the same mistake with money and not focus on the pennies first and foremost? And what is the mistake she sees more often than not from clients struggling to build that comfort blanket of wealth? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Nicholle Overkamp.

We deep dive into the steps you should be taking to achieve your money goals. Edited Anan Hassein
We've been conditioned ever since we were little kids that everything can be scored, measured, or graded, on some type of scale. And as business owners we do the same thing with our numbers. If you're looking at your numbers with that hunger of: I hope I met my numbers this month, my goals, and my projections. If you're basing your success off of just the numbers, it's an incomplete picture. One of the things I'm excited to share about in this episode, is that there are non-traditional ways to look at the direction your business is going using some less traditional metrics than your financial performance. I think you're going to love the raw and real Nicholle Overkamp. In this conversation, Nichole seeks to deescalate any pressure that you have around obsessing over your numbers, money, and metrics. On this episode of Fierce Lab, Tara talks to Nicholle Overkamp, a personal financial expert and business coach who runs the Wilcox Financial Group, which focuses on financial planning, and PowHERhouse Money Coaching, which focuses on financial coaching. She aims to help women develop positive money mindsets and get started or level up in financial planning and investing. In this episode, Nicholle discusses common reasons women feel apprehensive when it comes to financial decision-making and how to get started with planning and investing. Nicholle's work as a financial expert and business coach Nicholle runs two separate companies — one for financial planning and one for financial coaching. The Wilcox Financial Group is a space for women to receive financial advice, help, and information in an understanding environment. She likens her other company, PowHERhouse Money Coaching, to a bootcamp for money and preparing for financial planning, with a focus on bettering women's money mindsets. Their services help women become more comfortable with money by breaking down barriers and mitigating anxiety so they can take their finances to the next level. Common barriers to financial planning Nicholle says the biggest barriers are fear of being judged, the shame of thinking they should know more than they do, and procrastination due to anxiety and fear of the unknown. Women have also expressed that they sometimes aren't sure where to seek help or don't think the help they need exists. Getting started Nicholle offers advice for women who are getting started with financial planning. First, take inventory of what you want and what your goals are. From there, you can reverse engineer what to do and how long it will take to achieve those goals. If you don't have any particular goals in mind, consider what you don't want; some unrealized goals will probably come to mind. If you aren't ready to start investing, look into your cash flow, and examine if you are being intentional with your spending. Nicholle stresses the importance of both having emergency reserve savings and simply getting started, even if it's with only a little bit of money. Money mantras Having a positive mindset about money is imperative. It's important to recognize the reasons behind a negative (or scarcity) mindset, as self-awareness is empowering. Money mantras are personal, based on what you want to achieve, and should be repeated daily. Nicholle gives some examples including, “I am worthy of receiving money,” and, “I am worthy of keeping money.” Tara also shares her own money mantras. Listener questions Tara asked listeners for their financial questions. They include topics like what to do if your employer doesn't offer a retirement plan, but you still want to contribute; what should come first, paying down debt or saving; and where to get started with investing once you have an emergency fund and some savings set aside. Nicholle Overkamp, who has an MBA and she's a personal finance expert and business coach for women. She's the Founder & CEO of both Wilcox Financial Group and PowHERhouse Money Coaching. Overcoming her years at a large, toxically-masculine financial firm, Nicholle uses her money mastery skills to foster no-judgement environments where women can be open and shameless about their finances and habits. She knows that a critical factor in growing wealth is one's mindset and sense of self-worth – it's about setting boundaries, having discipline, and knowing you're worth every dollar you invest in yourself, your future, and your life. If money was no object, what would you be doing with your life? This is a great measure of who you are and where you want to be when you really ask yourself that question. In this episode, Nicholle Overkamp shares how to improve your relationship with money by asking yourself some hard questions that many people are afraid to ask themselves. Nicholle is a Financial Planner and Retirement Planning Specialist. She's the Founder and CEO of Wilcox Financial Group, LLC, a comprehensive financial planning firm, and Powerhouse Money Coaching, where she focuses on business coaching for ambitious women and service-based businesses, wealth coaching, and educational programming. Nicholle is also the author of Money Bitch! A No-BS Guide for Smart Women Who Want to Own Their Financial Future. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: - Nicholle's career background - Finding out what you really want - Getting out of your comfort zone - Getting permission from somebody that's not in your head - Trusting your process Episode Highlights: Finding Out What You Really Want It's amazing how many people don't pause to think about what they really want in their life. Or they could be thinking about how they no longer want their job and it's sucking a lot out of them. And they finally realize there's more to life, but they're quick to say they can't because “I can't” sounds easy. Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone Being comfortable is like a purgatory where you're in between two different places because you say you're fine but you feel horrible. Therefore, you have to ask yourself what you want and call yourself out on your excuses. Why do you say you can't or you won't? Dive deeper into that. What is the resistance you're feeling? Is it because you're going to have to make a change and it's uncomfortable? Trusting Your Process If you can break down the barriers of what the fear is and have a clear plan of what you're capable of achieving, then it's going to be okay to quit your job and you're going to be okay to do your business. But you have to want it bad enough to make these changes or shifts. Finally, follow the process to take the steps. It's going to get uncomfortable and it is going to hit resistance. But you have to be able to overcome the hurdle and ask for help. And give yourself the grace to embrace those setbacks. Realize that you're not going to achieve everything that you want all at once. Maybe it's just the universe telling you to take a different path and use those setbacks as beautiful lessons.
