Today, I'm sharing something deeply personal and serious—my stalker story. For over a year, Timothy C. (we can share his full name soon if need be) has been physically stalking me, and his digital harassment goes back even further. Law enforcement is now involved, but I wanted to update you all in case anything happens to me—so there's no question about who did it. This episode isn't just about my experience; it's also about the reality of stalking, the dangers of obsession, and the importance of taking threats seriously. Stay aware, stay safe, and let's talk about it all, shall we?—https://noblegoldinvestments.com

In today's episode, Mahesh sat down with Neuratic, COO of Anyone, to discuss internet privacy and how current solutions lag behind growing awareness. Neuratic explained "privacy washing," where companies claim to protect data while exploiting it for profit, with Google as an example. We explored how the Anyone Network tackles these issues through decentralization, fragmenting user data across relay operators for enhanced privacy, unlike traditional VPNs. The team also shared insights into their unique pseudonymous structure, their rebranding from ATOR after tensions with the Tor Project, and plans for the Anyone Router hardware. We wrapped up with thoughts on tokenomics, Bittensor, OpenAI, and the cultural impact of The Matrix, highlighting Anyone's commitment to a safer online world. How would you feel if your neighbor came to your mailbox everyday and opened your mail? How would you feel if someone was always looking over your shoulder to monitor everything you did on the internet? I think most people would say "NO!" And they would say no because such things are an invasion of our privacy. We now live in a very connected world. More and more we depend on the internet for personal services, business purposes, data storage, communication and entertainment. But what most people do not realize is that there is very little privacy in the online world and most of what you do is monitored by someone. Between hackers, scammers, big tech and big brother, someone is always collecting data on your personal online habits. That data is used to generate an online profile of who you are, what you do, where you go and maybe even if you can be trusted. Additionally that data is sold and shared and used to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year all without your permission. Maybe you think this is a paranoid way of thinking. But this episode is an interview with privacy expert Glenn Meder. It will open the door for you to a very different world in which there is absolutely no privacy. However, Glenn is going to give us some great tips on how to opt out of this privacy invasion simply because what we do, who we communication with and where we go really should be our personal business. I hope you will join me for this eye-opening episode.

In this episode of Privacy Files, we talk to Cindy Cohn, an American civil liberties attorney and the Executive Director of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). In 2018, Forbes named Cindy one of America's Top 50 Women in Tech. Cindy's passion for internet law spans decades and has put her in the middle of landmark legal cases involving privacy, censorship and the Fourth Amendment. We begin the episode by discussing Cindy's lead role in the case of Bernstein vs. Department of Justice, challenging the United States' export restrictions on cryptography. Today, written software code is speech protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. In all, we discuss a variety of topics from Big Tech's surveillance capitalism model to where the privacy legal battlefield is today. We've all heard (or experienced) the horror stories around cyber bullying, the consequences of sexting, or kids accidentally blowing through thousands of dollars on a popular video game. And as dads, contemplating how (and when) to grant our kids access to certain types of technology can be overwhelming. But even beyond which social media accounts or how much screen time we allow, it's imperative that they understand privacy. It's a big, loaded word, and thankfully there are experts like Marc Groman who can help us understand the important benefits of protecting one's privacy... and the very real threats when we don't. Listen to the end for a hilarious Father's Day-themed quiz! [This is part 1 of a 2 part episode.]Episode 87 of Modern Dadhood kicks off with some shared stories between Marc and Adam about their kids' struggles with listening, and a great recommendation from Marc on how to entice your kids to be self-accountable. The conversation transitions to privacy and technology when Adam asks Marc about how he intends to address privacy protection when his twin five-year-olds are old enough to start really interacting with internet enabled devices. Spoiler alert: neither dad has a great plan! The guys welcome privacy professional Marc Groman into the conversation. Among many other privacy-related jobs, credentials, and accolades, Marc was the first chief privacy officer of the US Federal Trade Commission, and he served in the Obama administration as chair of the Federal Privacy Council and Senior Advisor for Privacy in the White House. Marc and his husband David Reitman have a 17 year old son who they no longer monitor on social media, and trust that he has a good understanding of privacy-related issues! The conversation covers a LOT of ground, including:• Kids' inability to perceive potential consequences of their actions• Why smartphones should not be called "phones" at all.• How social platforms stoke FOMO which is very harmful to kids• The question that's far more important than "what's the right amount of screen time?"• What you post is permanent• The vital importance of being familiar with the platforms and games your kids are using• And more!If you've made it this far, you're in for a treat: Marc has cooked up some Father's Day themed trivia!Subscribe to Modern Dadhood to be alerted when Part 2 of this episode drops on Friday 7/6.Links:Their Own Devices (Marc's phenomenal podcast)Marc @ Family Online Safety InstituteRed Vault AudioCaspar BabypantsSpencer AlbeeStuffed Animal

We all know how easy it is to flip a laptop open and instantly find out who owns a particular property. It doesn't have to be like that. There are various ways of ensuring that your name doesn't appear anywhere in the searches. David Lanciotti shares the different ways for property owners to remain anonymous and mistakes to avoid when you don't want people to know you own a particular property. According to David and other advisors, land trusts are the way to add an extra layer of protection. When you close on a property and hold title through a land trust, you are safeguarded from being all over the internet. If you'd like to learn more, listen to this episode. “High net worth clients can do all sorts of things. But the first layer of protection is staying off the radar, keeping your assets private, nobody knowing what you own.” -David Lanciotti Three Things You'll Learn from this Episode Land trusts are a perfect way of remaining anonymous regarding your properties. When you purchase property under a land trust, it shields you from being overcharged by following the history of who you are and what you own. The worst mistake you can make when you purchase your property through a land trust is having tax bills sent over directly to the home address. Guest Bio: David joined the Chicago Title Land Trust Company in 2001 and served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. He is the author of the Land Trust Administration in Illinois (IICLE 2009) and Modern Land Trust Practice (IICLE 2015). Justin Fitzsimmons, associate vice president at the National White Collar Crime Center, joins us to raise the alarm about the way in which technology companies, social media outlets, and online privacy advocates are now purposely pitting adult privacy rights against the protection and safety of children. Think end-to-end encryption is totally innocuous? What if that means that pedophiles can endlessly trade child sexual abuse images online with impunity? And how do we—as advocates for children—keep issues of child protection front and center for policy makers, for tech and social media, and ultimately for all Americans?Topics in this episode:Origin story (1:43)Trends in technology-facilitated crime (2:45)The privacy problem (6:56)Our tech-driven lives (14:22)What law enforcement needs (18:55)What parents need to know (27:17)What child abuse professionals need to do (34:23)Don't let technology scare you (41:40)For more information (45:52)Links:Justin Fitzsimmons is associate vice president at the National White Collar Crime Center (nw3c.org), former president of the Board of Directors at National Children's Alliance, and an expert on technology-facilitated crime.CACs: Children's Advocacy CentersCSAM: child sexual abuse materialsICAC: Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force ProgramNew York Times articles “The Internet Is Overrun with Images of Child Sexual Abuse.
