Hosts Chris Kuhlmann and Shaun Griffin discuss a disturbing angle to the border crisis. Is it an invasion? Why are Democrats so bent on keeping the border wide open illegal immigration? We all know they expect most of them to vote democrat if they ever become citizens or decide to vote illegally. But what about the census? If illegal immigrants are counted in the census, but not identified as illegal, that WILL drastically impact how Congressional seats are proportioned to the states. Notice how Sanctuary cities are NOT asking the president to close the border, they are asking for more MONEY? Our Call to Action is to call your Congressman and Senators and tell them to include the Citizenship question on the Census! Over the past three seasons, President Geoffrey S. Mearns has been the one asking his guests questions on “Our Call to Beneficence.” For this episode of the podcast, his two youngest children, his twins Geoffrey Jr. and Molly, turn the tables by interviewing him.“Our goal in doing this was to hopefully give people a side of you that they might not know,” Geoffrey Jr. tells his father at the outset of their conversation. With that objective in mind, the President's son and daughter ask him a host of questions about his upbringing, their family, and why he chose to become a lawyer before transitioning to a career in higher education. The trio end their time together by discussing what Beneficence means to President Mearns and why, based on personal experience, he believes that Ball State is such a distinctive and special place. All Saints Day and Our Call to Holiness The Gospel is the famous Sermon on the Mount. It doesn't begin with the Beatitudes. When Jesus saw the crowd, Jesus went up the mountain. He saw and moved away, and then sat down. His disciples then came to Him. He waited for those who would follow Him, and then he taught them! It may be subtle in this passage. But it is an aspect of the Lord in which we reflect upon too little. The Lord teaches us something. The crowd sees the Lord and the Lord sees the crowd. He then moves and awaits those who will follow Him, before departing His message! The teaching of the Sermon on the Mount is a teaching for those that moved with and to the Lord. Again, a lesson for us even today! Hear more in the audio. Feast of All Saints The Feast of All Saints is celebrated on Nov. 1st. It is an overwhelming number. In the first reading (not in this audio), John describes what he sees in heaven. Too many to count, he is overwhelmed. When they praise the Lord together, it sounds like thunder, there are so many. So what does he see? He sees these great numbers of souls in the glory of heaven; in the brightness of heaven. We Are All Called To Holiness The Homily goes further into Holiness. Holiness is what we are asked to be here on earth. John sees the holy souls in heaven in their glory. How can there be so many? Many people think holiness is not for them! We are all called to be holy, says St. Louis de Montfort. Many Catholics do not strive to be so holy, because they believe it is unattainable. If it is so rare, why does John see an overwhelming number. . . too numerous to count. Hear more on our call to holiness, and the Feast of All Saints.
This Sunday we will reflect on all three scripture readings from our liturgy. Our Call to Worship is from Psalm 133, a song of unity. Our First Lesson takes up the theme of unity again, as Paul urges two of his co-workers to have the same mind in the Lord. Finally, our Gospel Lesson is from Matthew. It is another parable of Jesus that illustrates God's broad and scandalous welcome.
AMDG. Keeping young minds wondering, active, and curious can sometimes feel like a struggle. With pop culture always debuting new ways to capture attention, strewing our homes with examples of the good, the beautiful, and the true is one of the best ways to raise well-rounded young adults who are in the world without being of it. In this episode, writer Philip Kosloski—often found on Aleteia.org or in his series The Voyage Comics—visits with Bonnie, Steven, and Josh about discerning our charisms, the specific gifts God calls us to, subtle parallels to Catholicism in pop culture, and his work bringing inspiration from the saints into modern media. Big Idea: When He calls me, I will answer. Isaiah 6:1-8 When He calls me, I will answer. 1. Our Conviction. Isaiah 6: 1-4 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphim were standing above him; they each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Armies; his glory fills the whole earth. The foundations of the doorways shook at the sound of their voices, and the temple was filled with smoke. 2. Our Cleansing. Isaiah 6:5-7 Then I said: Woe is me for I am ruined because I am a man of unclean lips and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of Armies. Then one of the seraphim flew to me, and in his hand was a glowing coal that he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said: Now that this has touched your lips, your iniquity is removed and your sin is atoned for. 3. Our Call. Isaiah 6: 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who should I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me. Next Steps: I will go where I'm sent. Today, I will give God a return on His investment in me. Don't miss our news and announcements! Then the church moved to Greece, where it became a philosophy. Then it moved to Rome, where it became an institution (Holy Roman empire). Next, it moved to Europe, where it became a culture. And, finally, it moved to America, where it became an enterprise.” -Halverson

The Mute Shall Speak. (Matthew 9: 32-38)A Mute Man Speaks32 As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, mute and demon possessed. 33 And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marvelled, saying, “It was never seen like this in Israel!” 34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.” (Matthew 9: 32-34)This short little story of a man who is demon possessed and is unable to speak, most Bible commentators suggest that the mutism was a result of demon possession in this case. That was the lived experience of this man and the family and community around him as it tells us it was the community around him that brought him to Jesus and Jesus casts out the demon but look at the reaction of the crowd. Instead of rejoicing they say he has done this by the power of the ruler of demons, meaning Satan himself. Instead of saying wow he's the Messiah, look at what he has done. Rather than bow the knee to the Messiah, they accuse him of being an agent of Satan. The Compassion of Jesus35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9: 35-38)This little is the second subsection of Matthew deals with Jesus going about practicing his ministry which consisted of preaching and teaching. We're told in verse that “he looked at the crowd and he was moved to compassion”. It was not just their physical needs but their spiritual condition, their lack of nurture and guidance and protection that he is concerned about. Their so-called spiritual leaders have not been properly taking care of them and that leads Jesus to feel compassion for them.s, teachers, preachers and evangelists. Our Call as Disciples. In the next passage in Ch 10 verse 1 we will begin to see Jesus sending his 12 disciples out. Sending them out to do the work of the harvest. He called his first 12 disciples, and he sends them out. So today if you consider yourself a disciple of Jesus Christ well let me tell you it is because of someone else going out and labouring in the field on your behalf at some point. ........................................................................................The Bible Project Podcast (Daily - Monday-Friday)https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com.This podcast was brought to you by the generosity of my backers on Patreon. The Lady Hewley Trust, Hilary Tulloh, Adeline Israel, Stefanie Eichenberg, Stephen Longton, Bob Clough, Valerie Sims, Lisa Look, Robert Holloway, The Creative Fund, John Van Mulligen, Sergey Kochergan, Bobbi Patchin, Thomas Unitt, Colin Evans' Martin MPW.www.youtube.com/@JeremyRMcCandlessThe LIFE Podcast - The Bible Project | FacebookJeremy McCandless is creating podcasts and devotional resources | Patreonlinkedin.com/in/jeremy-mccandless-68353b16soundcloud.com/bonadventurebonadventure.bandcamp.com

In today's episode, we get to spend time with Wayne Pacelle, one of the leading contemporary animal rights advocates in the world. He is a graduate of Yale University, founder of Animal Wellness Action, and has led efforts to pass 1,500 state laws for animals, more than 100 federal laws and amendments, 30 ballot initiatives, and 500 corporate agreements. If that's not impressive enough, in his free time he wrote two books, both New York Times best-sellers, titled The Bond: Our Kinship with Animals, Our Call to Defend Them and The Humane Economy: How Innovators and Enlightened Consumers Are Transforming the Lives of Animals. Both Alexandra and Dotsie have worked with Wayne on a variety of animal issues, from the Kangaroos are Not Shoes global campaign to the current work Switch4Good and Wayne's organization, Animal Wellness Action, are partnering on to bring soy milk into U.S. public schools. In today's episode with Wayne, we discuss exactly how and why Wayne started taking action to protect animals at a young age, why passing laws that protect animals is important, if focusing on “animal welfare” is worth it, and more. You don't want to miss this action-packed episode! “I would rather have millions of imperfect people being active for animals, rather than a couple thousand ‘perfect' people working for animals. We all should be doing the best we can. But I also don't want this [vegan movement] to be a club.” - Wayne Pacelle What we discuss: Why Wayne thinks that our social drive includes nonhuman animals How he started taking action for animals at a young age through direct action Why protecting animals through policy and law is so important and powerful Should we be focusing on “animal welfare”? In this morning's sermon text from the Gospel of Matthew, an angel appears to Joseph to announce that the miraculous child in Mary's womb “will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Many of the elements in the service today likewise focus on Christ's coming as a Savior. Our Call to Worship is taken from Zechariah's prophecy in Luke 1 (known historically as the “Benedictus”), in which he looks forward to God visiting and redeeming Israel, delivering them from the hands of their enemies. We read responsively from Psalm 80, asking the Lord to look down and see our great need, repeating the refrain of “let Your face shine that we may be saved!” The Christmas hymns Come All You Worthy Gentlemen, Infant Holy, Infant Lowly, and Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence remind us that Christ is our “blessed Savior,” that He was “Lord of all” and “born for You,” and that at His coming “the powers of Hell may vanish.” The service is framed by the three verses of the Medieval Carol Good Christian Men, Rejoice, which deftly walk us through the essentials of the Gospel. Jesus was really born in a manger. He blessed mankind by opening heaven's door to us. Now we need not fear the grave—because “Christ was born to save!” —Henry C. Haffner Key Words: Birth, Name, Jesus, Save, Holy Spirit, Joseph, Just, Son of David, Sins Keystone Verse: She will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21) Bulletin Matthew 1:18-21 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Feast of All Saints The Feast of All Saints is celebrated today.
