What I want to know is why were attorneys clearing out the office at the U Penn think tank. Lawyers cost hundreds of dollars an hour. Two guys and a truck would have been infinitely cheaper. Where the lawyers there because they expected to find something like this? Maybe the attorneys were used just so there would be attorney-client privilege in place. The presence of lawyers doing a job a couple of teenagers could do is intriguing to say the least. Resident Biden wants Congress to legalize abortion. I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute. Yesterday Biden said he doesn't have the authority to reinstate Roe v. Wade but urged Congress to pass a law making abortion legal at the federal level again. The Whitehouse staff is still investigating using a public health emergency to reinstate abortion access. Biden also called on pro-abortion protesters to "keep protesting" and "keep making your point." Biden did not condemn the protesting at justices' homes, which is illegal, the assassination attempt on a Supreme Court Justice, or the violent attacks against pro-life organizations. Come to think of it, did he ever condemn the George Floyd riots? I am all for legal and peaceful demonstrations and protests. Biden wants to save you 18 cents on gas for three months. I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute. So let's get this straight again. The week Biden was elected, regular gas was $2.11 a gallon. The week Russia invaded Ukraine, gas was already up $1.33 to $3.44 a gallon. Now gas is over $5 a gallon, and Biden asked Congress to suspend the 18 cents a gallon gas tax for three months. This request comes after Biden has already released over half of the Strategic Petroleum Reserves, with little, if any, effect on gas prices. The request also comes after the campaign promise to end fossil fuels, actually canceling pipelines, and describing our pain-at-the-pump as an opportunity. Gas prices have officially doubled since Biden took office. I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute. On January 19th, 2022, the United States was energy independent. We were a net exporter of energy products. The national average for a gallon of regular gas was $2.39. Resident Biden is sworn in and immediately cancels the Keystone XL pipeline, stops federal land leases, adds new hoops to jump through, and starts to slow walk permits. Gas prices begin to climb within days. On Friday, AAA reported the national average price for a gallon of regular gas was $4.819. That is a new record high and officially more than double the price on inauguration day. "Putin's war" is a convenient excuse, but the facts prove that prices were already soaring before Russian troops started to mass on the Ukrainian border. Biden continues to push for more gun laws. I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute. Last night, Resident Biden addressed the nation to push Congress for more gun control laws. He said, "For God's sake, how much more carnage are we willing to accept?" He also said, "do something." I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I agree with Biden. We should do something. We should prosecute criminals and keep them in jail for their entire sentence. We should have armed police or security at all schools. We should enforce the gun laws already on the books. For example, prosecute people who lie on the FBI background check form. We should do everything we can to get more good guys with guns out visible in public. We should fund our law enforcement and teach children to respect them again. Maybe there was a legitimate reason for the shutdown, but you left the facility closed for months with no plan on how to reopen it. To make matters even worse, you shut down the plant during a supply chain crisis, so supplementing supply with imports was nearly impossible. I cannot reconcile the second amendment's "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" with the existence of the ATF. For about 130 years, the second amendment was the only federal firearms law. Now we have an ATF with over 5,000 employees. Under Obama, the ATF said they couldn't regulate bump stocks because they were accessories; then under Trump, they changed the definition of a bump stock so they could ban them. Silencers, suppressors, bump stocks, accessory rails, and large-capacity magazines are all accessories that the ATF attempts to regulate, or I should say, infringe upon. Resident Biden has authorized a million barrels of oil to be released from the strategic oil reserve every day for the next 180 days. The United States consumes about 20 million barrels of oil per day. I'm not sure how much good one million barrels a day is supposed to do. This is the third time this administration has tapped the Strategic Petroleum Reserves. At the end of these 180 days, the reserves will be down to 400 million barrels. Only 56% of our reserves will remain, leaving us with only a 20 day supply on hand. 20 days should be okay, right? It isn't like a world war could happen at any moment, and we would need those reserves for their intended purpose or anything like that. James Comer (R-Ky.) on Monday called on House Democrats to hold a hearing on what they said was President Biden's failed handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The letter, sent as Congress is set to begin a legislative year likely to be defined by the midterm elections, shows Republicans believe they can use the pandemic and Biden's handling of it to go on offense in November. "President Biden's first year in office was one full of broken promises. He promised to 'shut down the virus.' He promised 'by next Christmas [2021]…I think that there'll be significantly fewer people having to be socially distanced [and] have to wear masks…' He promised to 'improve the availability of tests.' He promised to not 'demand that [the vaccine] be mandatory.' And he promised he had a national plan to 'get this virus under control,'" Scalise and Comer wrote in their letter to House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.). "He failed on all accounts," they wrote.” Scalise goes on to point out three particular areas where he thinks President Biden has failed: “providing enough at-home coronavirus tests, abandoning his own national plan and politicizing the vaccine” No Republicans. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky explained that the recent decision to shorten the isolation period for asymptomatic COVID-19 cases was based on what the federal government “thought people would be able to tolerate.” That statement proves what I have said all along, the CDC and the government as a whole used the Wuhan Flu as a political tool. The Whitehouse says that Resident Biden firmly called for deescalation over Ukraine during yesterday's call with Russian President Putin. Somehow, I doubt Putin was scared. More than 200 US Marines have been separated for refusing the Wuhan Flu vaccine. Young people in top physical condition who are more likely to die in a car accident, but it isn't political. A release from Idaho State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth's office says the proposal would "turn every American's local bank, credit union and payment provider into an IRS agent, monitoring and reporting on deposits and withdrawals made in private accounts--at a threshold of as little as $600." Idaho State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth joined other State Treasurers, Auditors and Financial Officers in sending a letter to President Biden and U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen expressing opposition to the proposal. They wrote, “Simply put, this is a direct assault on all Americans of all economic demographics and includes all business and personal accounts.” This surveillance dragnet will capture every single American--from all income levels--with a bank, credit union, brokerage or financial account. Suppose you transfer $15,000 from your savings to your checking account to make a large purchase you have spent years saving for, like a wedding, car or home down payment. Your financial institution would be required to report the withdrawal and deposit to the IRS, possibly triggering an audit--despite having done nothing improper or illegal.
