It's basically a load of Cliff's songs, but with some orchestration on it! AMAZING! This might not have been such an event of a podcast if Cliff hadn't recently decided to call out Elvis Presley as a big fat disgusting blob recently, causing ire up and down the land in doing so. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Sir Tim Rice, Legendary Lyricist and EGOT Winner About Harvey's guest: Today's very special guest, Sir Tim Rice, is a man whose monumental contributions to the world of musical theatre can hardly be overstated.   His collaborations with composer Andrew Lloyd Webber on the phenomenally successful and beloved shows, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat”, “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Evita”, brought him worldwide acclaim, as one of the greatest and most innovative lyricists of the modern age.    He went on to co-write “Blondel” with Stephen Oliver, and “Chess”, with Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus from ABBA.  With Sir Elton John, he wrote “The Lion King”, “Aida”, and “The Road to El Dorado”.   He collaborated with Alan Menken on “Aladdin”, “King David”, and the theatrical production AND live action re-make of “Beauty and the Beast”, which is the highest-grossing live action musical of all time.   He co-wrote a musical called “Heathcliff”, based on Emily Bronte's “Wuthering Heights”, which produced a wonderful album featuring Sir Cliff Richard and the late Olivia Newton-John.   And with composer Stuart Brayson, he co-wrote the musical production, “From Here to Eternity”, based on the 1953 James Jones novel.    This man's list of accomplishments is nothing short of jaw-dropping.    His shows have broken box office records in the West End, on Broadway, and around the world.    Many of his songs have become global #1 hits, including “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “I Don't Know How to Love Him”, “Don't Cry for me Argentina”, “I Know Him So Well”, “Someday Out of the Blue” – and he even wrote the lyrics to my favourite song from a James Bond movie, “All Time High”, from “Octopussy”, recorded by Rita Coolidge.    And speaking of #1 hits, he's won THREE Academy Awards and THREE Golden Globe Awards for his songs “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin”, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from “The Lion King”, and “You Must Love Me”, from the 1996 movie, “Evita”.  He received 2 more Oscar nominations for “Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata” from “The Lion King”.  He's been nominated for 9 Tony Awards and won 3 – 2 for “Evita” and 1 for “Aida”.  In fact, “Evita” was the 1st British musical to win the Tony award for Best Musical.  He's been nominated for 12 Grammy awards, and won FIVE.   And, in 2018, when he won an Emmy award for the live TV performance of “Jesus Christ Superstar”, he became an EGOT winner, one of only 18 people in the world to have won the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards.   He's been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the American Theatre Hall of Fame.  And in recognition of his work in film and theatre, he was inducted as a Disney Legend.  He's received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.   And last but most certainly not least, in 1994 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth the 2nd. For more interviews and podcasts go to: https://www.harveybrownstoneinterviews.com/ To see more about Sir Tim Rice, go to:http://www.timrice.co.uk/https://www.facebook.com/TimRiceWords/https://twitter.com/SirTimRice#TimRice  #SirTimRice  #harveybrownstoneinterviews

Spray anyone? 2023 sees Spray ring in the new year by bringing their Songs Already Sung project – a collection of carefully curated cover songs – to streaming services. Spray is comprised of Ricardo Autobahn (synthesizers) and Jenny McLaren (vocals, guitars), both formerly (and once again) of the Cuban Boys, who took their chaotic technopunk to number 1 on the Festive 50 (twice), recorded one of the best Peel Sessions ever and went head-to-head with Sir Cliff Richard in a Christmas Chart Battle. For the duo, Songs Already Sung was something of a experiment and a departure from their standard way of working. Says Ricardo in his own inimitable style, “Songs Already Sung was an ongoing project throughout 2022, which built into a whole album month by month of popular beat group Spray performing some great hits of yesteryear.” Though there's only 12 months in the year, in a very Spray move Songs Already Sung actually comprises 14 tracks. That number is a tribute to both the band's expansive musical taste, unique approach to the project, and the sheer number of fantastic fan-generated ideas the band received after a callout on social media. As Ricardo stated at the commencement of what was then called the Untitled Covers Project, “We have a number of cover versions to keep our live set interesting, but as for our albums, they've been strictly originals only. So, we felt it might be fun, and also a good way of keeping ourselves proactive, to record a covers album, recording and releasing the songs one a month. This allows for an element of interactivity, fan suggestions, and also the possibility we'll end up with more songs than we expected. Or possibly less.” He added, “These won't be necessarily what you'd expect from us either. The idea of Spray cover versions is to take something as far away from our oeuvre as we can find and then drag it kicking and screaming into the Spray Universe.” The fourteen tracks on Song Already Sung include classics from The (Detroit) Spinners, Living Color, KISS, Nine Inch Nails, and Tori Amos. Also featured and given the Spray treatment are songs by Roger Whittaker – a rare vocal outing from Ricardo – Hazel O'Connor, Faith No More, Chas and Dave, Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle, The Connells, Lil Nas X, and Blink 182. Last but not least, fans of 70s British educational TV will be intrigued by the inclusion of Paddy Kingsland's The Boy from Space, given a suitable cosmic-sounding and rather cheeky Spray makeover. The collection of tracks on Song Already Sung is sure to bring a smile to your face, and maybe the odd tear of joy to an eye or two. Music Available on AnalogueTrash

Nicola Rollock, Professor of Social Policy and Race at King's College London and an expert on racial justice, has a book out, The Racial Code: Tales of Resistance and Survival. in which she explores the hidden rules of race and racism, how they maintain the status quo, the pain and cost of navigating everyday racism and how to truly achieve racial justice. The Crown Prosecution Service has apologised unreservedly to a woman whose rape case was dropped after defence lawyers claimed she had an episode of a rare sleep walking condition called ‘sexsomnia'. In what is believed to be the first case of its kind in the UK - the CPS now says it was wrong to drop the case and it should have gone to court. The BBC followed Jade McCrossen-Nethercott's case as events unfolded over three years. Emma speaks to Jade and Emma Ailes, the producer and director of the BBC 3 documentary : SEXSOMNIA: CASE CLOSED? about why she began following Jade's case. The Home Secretary Suella Braverman has signalled that she may consider giving anonymity to criminal suspects as she feels a “media circus” jeopardises a fair trial. Speaking to an audience of Young Conservatives at the Conservative Conference in Birmingham, her comments came in answer to a question referring to the high profile cases of singer Sir Cliff Richard and Harvey Proctor, a former Conservative Member of Parliament, who were falsely accused of sexual abuse and never charged. Currently, alleged victims of sexual offences receive lifelong anonymity under UK law but there is no law against naming a suspect. So what effect would it have, particularly on women, if anonymity were given? Joining Emma is Lady Nourse who was cleared of 17 counts of historical child sex abuse involving a boy under the age of 12 in 2021, and Mark Williams-Thomas, an investigative journalist and former detective who exposed Jimmy Savile as a paedophile. When was the last time you tried something completely new? After over a decade in the music industry, 4 successful albums, and a Mercury Prize nomination under her belt, Nadine Shah has turned her hand to acting for the first time. The singer, songwriter, and musician talks to Emma Barnett about fear of failure, updating Shakespeare, and learning to act for her debut role as Titania in Matthew Dunster and Jimmy Fairhurst's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. It's exactly a month since Liz Truss became leader of the conservative party and today she makes her first speech in that new role to the party faithful at their conference in Birmingham later this morning. Instead of the usual honeymoon period a new leader can expect to enjoy she has been beset by adverse publicity after the unveiling of chancellor's mini budget almost two weeks ago. It led to huge market unrest with the pound plunging to record lows against the dollar. Emma speaks to Kirsty Buchanan, her former Special Advisor.

Paul chats with Collabro ahead of their new single with Sir Cliff Richard Mistletoe and WineSingle Release Date – 26th November 2021 “I'm finding it hard to believe that it has been 33 years since I first released Mistletoe and Wine. I am really thrilled with this newly recorded version with the Collabro boys. I love their harmonies and it was a pleasure to sing with them, and if this new version gets everyone into the Christmas Spirit we will be very happy!!” – Sir Cliff Richard Following a hugely successful tour as special guests to Sir Cliff Richard in 2017, Collabro and Sir Cliff have become close friends in the industry and have supported each other, including Sir Cliff joining an intimate gig where Collabro performed at Pizza Express Holborn and Collabro performing at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate Sir Cliffs 60 years in the music business.  Whilst Collabro were recording their Christmas album “Christmas Is Here” and Cliff was recording his “Music… The Air That I Breathe” album, they came up with the idea to re-record the festive Christmas classic “Mistletoe and Wine”, 33 years after its original release. The Collabro boys couldn't be more thankful for this opportunity and are endlessly grateful to Sir Cliff for his continued support. “It really is a dream come true and probably the most surreal thing we have ever done. This song was first released before any of us were born so we have literally heard it every Christmas our whole lives. Working with Sir Cliff has always been the most incredible experience and we really hope people enjoy this new version of the song.” Michael Auger Collabro Collabro are the World's Most Successful Musical Theatre Group. The boys met for their first rehearsal above a pub in London Bridge back in 2014. Soon after, they auditioned for ITV's Britain's Got Talent, and a month later received a full standing ovation from all four judges and the full audience at the Hammersmith Apollo. They went on to win the competition with one of the highest voting majorities of any series, and their debut album Stars went straight into the UK album charts at number one, was quickly certified gold, and became the fasting selling album of 2014. To this day, they are one of the most popular Got Talent winners ever.  Last year, Collabro released their album “Christmas Is Here” comprising of a range of festive classics and an original track, the titular 'Christmas Is Here', which saw them team up once again with Ben Adams from A1. After going from strength to strength with six top-selling albums, four sell-out UK tours, two US tours, headline slots at the London Palladium, Wembley Stadium, the O2 arena and the Royal Albert Hall, this summer saw COLLABRO performing at Tatton Park Pop Up Festival, In The Park with Katherine Jenkins, Sound On The Ground Blackpool, and performing with Alfie Boe at Trentham Live and are currently on their major headline Greatest Hits Tour. Charlie Gracie is one of a diminishing number of rock & roll innovators. A native of South Philadelphia, he became the first successful recording star of the “Rock Era” to emerge from that neighborhood. In 1957, Charlie's Butterfly topped the American and British music charts, selling over 3 million copies. His other late 50's big sellers include: Fabulous, Ninety-Nine Ways, Wanderin Eyes, I Love You So Much It Hurts and Cool Baby. These hits bankrolled Philly's famous Cameo-Parkway record label. At the height of his fame, Charlie frequently appeared on Dick Clark's American Bandstand, The Ed Sullivan Show, and Alan Freed's TV Specials. He headlined shows at the Brooklyn Paramount, the Casino Royale in Washington, the 500 Club in Atlantic City, the Opera House in Chicago and old Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia. Charlie's star burned even brighter in Great Britain where he became the first solo American artist to bring rock & roll to the English concert stage. Preceded only by Bill Haley and the Comets, Charlie headlined London's Palladium and Hippodrome - receiving outstanding receptions from the press and public. Charlie's popularity in the United Kingdom continues to this day where he continues to tour annually. His superb guitar playing elicited the highest of praise from music legends like George Harrison. The late Beatle once referred to Charlie's guitar technique as “brilliant” in a March 1996 interview with Billboard Magazine. Sir Paul McCartney paid tribute to Charlie by recording an updated version of Fabulous on his album Run Devil Run. Pop superstar Sir Cliff Richard followed in 2014 and 2016 by paying tribute to Charlie with updated versions of Fabulous and Butterfly in his Fabulous Rock & Roll Songbook CD series. Belfast Blues performer Van Morrison displayed his admiration for Charlie by inviting him to open a West Coast tour - one of a precious few artists to be given that honor! In 2011, on his 75th birthday, Charlie recorded ‘Baby Doll', a true resurrection for him as it received mass airplay on the BBC as well as Sirius XM in the USA, entering the Mediabase Top 100 and the #1 retail seller position for several weeks in Philadelphia. As the record peaked, he headlined the World Café and played at the Bitter End in NYC. In 2012 Charlie was the subject of a made for PBS-TV documentary: Fabulous! The program recounted the story of his influential career - from humble beginnings in his South Philadelphia row home to concert stages around the world! The year 2015 saw the release of his long-awaited autobiography: ‘ROCK & ROLL's HIDDEN GIANT: THE STORY OF ROCK PIONEER CHARLIE GRACIE' (Alfred Music Publishing). The book received critical acclaim, including a stellar endorsement by Sir Paul McCartney! A member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and the Philadelphia Music Hall of Fame, Charlie shows no signs of slowing down. He still plays to packed houses all around the world. Recent show tours have taken him to France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Finland and Great Britain -the site of his greatest success. Though so much has changed around him, much of Charlie's life remains constant. He is a family man, first and foremost. He still reveres the memory of his parents and grandparents, who encouraged him to pursue his love for music . And he considers his fans his family. Talk about close relations! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rick-flynn/support

Recapturing America's Destiny. Restoring Our Republic. Notes on the incredible natural political talent of Donald Trump, a once-in-a-generation phenomenon. The Democrats don't have an answer to Trump, and they seem to know it. We explain the Establishment's ongoing, furious hostility towards Trump as a measure of their implicit understanding of his supreme talent. The Deep State has thrown everything at Trump, one hoax after another. They have broken the laws and even spied on him -- but none of it has worked. And, in the end, the "dirty cops" got caught. We sample the themes of President Trump's high-energy Saturday night rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Meanwhile, it becomes more apparent there simply was no "predicate" for all the illegal spying. The Russia Menace appears to have been largely manufactured by our own Deep State. Why did Team Obama suddenly decide Russia was a problem, right before they left office? Was a scapegoat needed for some reason? As we observe Clapper & Company straining to embellish "the magnitude" of the Russian effort in 2016, we sense retreat into their final fallback position. When the indictments come, they'll say they trampled the Constitution because it was their patriotic duty to do so. Straight up McCarthyism. Also, no trust for Don McGahn. Plus, vignettes on sturdy Amish population growth and the Christian career of British pop star Sir Cliff Richard. Rona Fairhead, the former FT Group chief executive, has been announced as the Government's preferred choice as BBC Trust chair. Steve hears from John Gapper, former colleague, and Associate Editor of the Financial Times, about what she could bring to the role; former Culture Secretary, Tessa Jowell MP, who introduced the BBC Trust as a system of governance, and Phil Harding, former BBC news editor and Controller of Editorial Policy, about what her appointment may mean for the Trust, and the BBC.The BBC and South Yorkshire Police appeared before MPs yesterday, regarding the search of Sir Cliff Richard's home in Berkshire. The police and the BBC cooperated with each other, which ended in the BBC having cameras and a helicopter at the singer's home when the police turned up to raid it. Hundreds of people complained about the footage. However, Chairman of the Commons Home Affairs Committee, Keith Vaz said the BBC had behaved, 'perfectly properly'.
