Alvin Carlos made a strategic decision to build internal efficiency and client accountability into the heart of his planning process—a move that not only streamlined how his team manages financial plans and client tasks, but also helped him scale. Turning Monday.com into the operational core of his firm, he has carved out a niche in serving younger clients profitably, while keeping his tech stack lean and highly functional. Alvin is the CEO of District Capital Management, an RIA based out of Washington, D.C., that generates $850,000 of annual, primarily retainer-based, revenue serving 155 households. Listen in as he shares how he uses Monday.com and RightCapital together to streamline financial plan presentations and track client follow-on tasks and also leverages AI tools like Krisp to generate meeting summaries and action items at a lower price point than industry-specific options. He also talks about how he profitably serves clients in their 30s and 40s with a complexity-based retainer model—adjusting fees to improve accessibility while monitoring labor efficiency to guide hiring decisions—and why building a mission-driven firm that allows him to serve clients from a variety of backgrounds and grow the number of job opportunities for financial planners is core to his long-term vision. The eyes are an athlete's, and a golfer's biggest weapon and so it would make sense to train them, as well as protect and enhance what they see. Jondo Eyewear, with its Krisp technology built into every lens, does just that. Mark Immelman is joined by South Africa's Dr. Pieter Naude (Optometrist and inventor of the Krisp technology), Mike De Jongh (former ATP Tennis Player and Jondo partner) and Morne Botha (Jondo CEO) to talk about the eyewear and how they are specifically designed to be the best sport-performance/fashion eyewear in the business. The Jondo organizational aim is to provide golfers with high contrast enhancement lenses for better on-course performance. As the Jondo crew introduce the eyewear the following performance elements are discussed: Krisp Technology vs Polarized lenses and how Krisp virtually eliminates haze and glare. How the Jondo eyewear boosts Reds, Greens and Blues of the color spectrum and how those colors help golfers to better sight the golf-ball, read greens and see contrasts in slope and grain. Spectral Filtration - what it is and what it does for a golfer's performance Perceptual Distortion and how Jondo Eyewear's design elimimates that, and Jondo's lens design and thickness and how it protects from injury to the eyes. This season on my podcast, Baring It All with Call Me Adam, I am highlighting My Entertainment Idols.Today, I am going back in time and Behind-The-Curtain to bring you this blast from the past, my 2013 interview with Nicki French, award-winning international recording artist, known for her smash hit dance version of Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart."In this interview, Nicki is Baring It All with Call Me Adam about:How she handles her success What she loves about musical theatreHow she decides what songs to recordWhat she loves about the creative process in putting an album togetherSo much moreSpecial Thanks:Theme Song by Bobby CroninPodcast Logo by Liam O'DonnellEdited by Adam RothenbergUnderscore Music by CutiqueConnect with Me:Website: www.callmeadam.comFacebook: @CallMeAdamNYCInstagram: @CallMeAdamNYCMore on Nicki French:Nicki was born in Carlisle, Cumbria to Mum Eileen and Dad Joe. Music was destined to be in the family – dad played the drums when he was younger, and mum the violin. Nicki's brother, Tim, is very musical too – a guitarist and singer who is a fabulous song-writer. However, her two sisters, Allison and Carolyn, stayed away from music – probably plenty to listen to already in the household! The family moved down to Tenterden in Kent when Nicki was four years old. Always a keen singer, one of her early memories was sitting next to the radio, listening to the new chart rundown and singing along to all the songs, when Auntie Sally, her Godmother, came in and said to mum and dad, "She'll be a singer when she grows up!"The first ‘gig' came at the age of seven, when Nicki was chosen to sing a solo - the first verse of "O Little Town of Bethlehem" at the Infants' School Christmas Concert! From then on there was no turning back! A few years later she won the local talent contest, and within the year had joined her first band, Krisp, run by Tim and his friend Kelvin. They worked the most salubrious places – working mens' clubs and holiday camps – wooh! From the age of 16, Nicki studied Music and Drama at West Kent College in Tonbridge, Kent, passing her ‘A' Levels two years later. At the annual college musical, she played the lead role of Laurey in Oklahoma!, earning rave reviews for her performance. She then moved up to London and started auditioning for bands and theatre shows. Not many know that Nicki actually was part of a duo in the early 1980s – name of Whisky and Sofa! They released a song called "Dirty Den," about the Eastenders character! It was played on the Radio One Breakfast Show and that was about it! Amazing though, it was written by an extremely well-known writer, Barry Mason. He wrote "The Last Waltz" for Engelbert Humperdinck and "Delilah" for Tom Jones. Credibility sadly was NOT in existence on "Dirty Den."Nicki started working the pubs and clubs, moving onto gay pubs and clubs a short while later – The Spread Eagle in Shoreditch was her first! However the most exciting show for Nicki was at the Player of the Season annual dinner/dance at Tottenham Hotspur FC – her team! They had just signed a new player and were introducing him to the fans – a player by the name of Paul Gascoigne, and Gazza and all the other players got up on stage with her to perform a couple of songs – a special moment. Nicki had been working on the gay scene for some time, when she made one of her regular visits to perform in a club in...

Today's bonus episode follows the 2 part interview with Davit Baghdasaryan, Co-Founder & CEO of Krisp - a software tool that maximizes the productivity and impact of every conversation by eliminating noise distractions, increasing the fidelity of voice communication, and transcribing and synthesizing the most relevant details and analytics from every voice interaction. Many founders build their technology and only then try to figure out what industry it's best applied to. In the case of Davit, they had 24 different use cases they were trying to present to the market, which caused them to struggle with their business model. They had to learn how to say “no” to alternative segments and use cases and pursue becoming market leaders in their niche. Diluting your positioning and strategy might work once you're an established brand with tons of resources to burn, but as a startup it's a losing strategy that will often steer you away from a winning strategy. In today's market people expect their products to be highly personalized and catered to their problems. Even if you have the best technology in the world, by sacrificing your positioning and refusing to niche down, competitors who get it right will run laps around you because their product is an exact fit for solving an individual problem.Tune into the full episode to learn how to approach GTM as a technical founder!Don't forget to subscribe to the Chaos to Clarity Podcast for more invaluable episodes to help you grow your business and stay ahead of the curve! To reach out to Eric, visit ChaosToClarity.io
This episode continues the conversation with Davit Baghdasaryan, Co-Founder & CEO of Krisp - a software tool that maximizes the productivity and impact of every conversation by eliminating noise distractions, increasing the fidelity of voice communication, and transcribing and synthesizing the most relevant details and analytics from every voice interaction. Krisp has grown significantly throughout COVID and beyond. They saw a huge market opportunity with call centers where the issue of noise cancellation is truly prevalent and expensive, which helped them grow through word of mouth. Throughout this growth spurt they've been able to add a plethora of new features, and now they're moving into the lucrative meeting assistant place. The next feature they're working on is accent translation, which automatically translates the speaker's accent to the listeners accent to help break through accent barriers.COVID wasn't a walk in the park for Davit. They had built a multiple org structure, which caused the company to overhire. Without alignment and verticalization they were becoming much slower to act and the environment became too bureaucratized to work at the level of efficiency that is required from a SaaS startup. They made a big pivot and moved back to a model that brought them their initial success and allowed them to return to scaling. Davit is a big believer in the fact that every person you hire adds overhead to your business, and even though you need to make the right hires to grow - hiring more people makes your processes run slower until they've been with you for a while. Your goal is not to just hire, it's to create more customer value. In this episode, Eric is joined by Davit Baghdasaryan, Co-Founder & CEO of Krisp - a software tool that maximizes the productivity and impact of every conversation by eliminating noise distractions, increasing the fidelity of voice communication, and transcribing and synthesizing the most relevant details and analytics from every voice interaction. Davit's background is in engineering. If you asked Davit if he plans to become an entrepreneur a year prior to founding Krisp, he would have said - no way. But when he took the plunge, it didn't take long for him to fall in love with it and unlock his hidden calling. Startup life is much more catered to those who have a growth mindset. Every year in a startup is a career in an enterprise when you look at how much intellectual velocity is needed to succeed and how quickly things change. Often those who leave enterprises to found startups have a hard time adjusting to the new paradigm, and on top of that you're more than likely to leave a lot of money on the table. Davit left Twilio to start Krisp right at the time when Twilio was growing at a rapid pace, so he had to temporarily say goodbye to a lucrative role - but it worked out for the best. The problem in the market that Davit saw came from his role at Twilio. He was traveling to his home country of Armenia and taking virtual meetings outside. The problem is that there's a ton of noise that disrupts the natural flow of virtual meetings. They gathered a team of scientists and took a machine learning approach to create their first prototype. 2 years in they had a production ready piece of technology and they shipped it.Check out the full episode to hear the journey of Krisp!HIGHLIGHTS:00:00 Davit's Journey To Entrepreneurship 04:15 Is It Worth It To Take The Risk?09:38 The Problem In The Market13:39 Early Pains Building Krisp17:35 What VC's Want To SeeConnect with Davit - https://www.linkedin.com/in/davitb/Check out Krisp - https://krisp.aiDon't forget to subscribe to the Chaos to Clarity Podcast for more invaluable episodes to help you grow your business and stay ahead of the curve! To reach out to Eric, visit FullCycleProduct.com

In this episode, Davit Baghdasaryan, the co-founder and CEO of Krisp, discusses how his start-up has grown to be a leader in the voice productivity AI space. He shares his thoughts on AI product development in the age of large AI models, and what the newest developments are in the field of voice AI. Davit also talked about his journey of founding BigStory VC, an early-stage venture capital fund in Yerevan and Bazoomq, a non-profit space research lab where Davit is an advisor.
Is it dark in here? Maybe a little. This week on Happy Half Hour, David and I invent the ways we'd like to undo this mortal coil (our deathways include expiring from overexposure to the almighty T-Swift and falling from a helicopter into a pool of sharks). The whole point? To name what we'd eat if it was our last meal on earth. And then point you to the San Diego restaurants we suggest getting these last-meal greats. I start with the meal I order every Sunday when the scaries hit, and just when pleasure is a life pursuit. Drunken noodles with duck. Those wide rice noodles, like some sort of overly indulgent, super-fettucini. And duck, my favorite protein. Some people say “gamey” as if it's a bad thing. For me, “gamey” has always been a plus, something to put on a resume as a food. There are few places that still serve duck (most seem to have moved to mock duck only), so it's Banh Thai for me. David expresses his kinda surprising love for brunch cocktails (David is in a metal band, so I have a hard time seeing him in a sunny-happy meal experience, but maybe he owns some wide brim hats I don't know about). And he raves about the Sakura Bloom at Morning Glory, a cocktail worth waiting for. Egg whites get whipped, the cocktail gets prepared, then gets put in the freezer for what feels like eternity. When it gets delivered, they pour the cocktail through the egg whites making them stand straight up four inches out of the glass, then garnished with a straw laid across it. All told, on our last enjoyable meal on earth we're headed to Chris' Liquor, Royal Mandarin, OB Noodle House, Arlo, Cardellino, Wayfarer, Preger Brothers, Izola, Born & Raised, Costa Brava, Swami's, Rudford's, Krisp, Working Class, and City Dragon. We also talk with event guru Jaclyn Lash, who books all the shows at Petco Park. Petco's become one of the best live-concert venues in Southern Cal now, and she gives us a sneak peak at the 2023 lineup. Some of our favorites include Jimmy Eat World, Band of Horses, and Pixies. Can you guess what we're having at each? Email us at happyhalfhour@sdmag.com what you'd eat if it was your last eating, and where you'd get it. We'll read a few on air. Thanks for listening, y'all.

Welcome to Episode 17 and this week, we talk about... well, not so smart people as usual. But this time around, it's about dumb criminals. Bruh. We have some fun and we even have a creepy story sent by our friend, Allie. No spoiler alert, but we seriously still can't WRAP our head around it. We got shoplifters, a drug bust gone wrong, to a criminal getting stuck inside a chimney. Come join us! This week, we also featured a few trailers from some of our podcast friends: First up we got Branched! A comedy and culture podcast that takes everyday issues and explores how they interact with the world at large.
