In this episode, I chat with Canadian Country artist Cory Marks. Being a huge fan, I was excited to talk to Cory about his life before music, and the artists who inspired him along the way. Chatting about his love of aviation and a scary moment up in the air. How some of the biggest hits of his career came together with the biggest names in rock and metal, like Sully Erna of Godsmack, Tyler Connolly of Theory, Ivan Moody of 5FDP, Mick Mars of Motley Crue and more. We play a game with his song titles…talk about his fiancé and grandpa, and even get a Trailer Park boys impression and even got him to sing a few of his favorite Merle Haggard lyrics. #albumbespechung #albumrezension #rezension #rockcast #podcast #rockmusik #hardrock #southernrock #redwhiteblue #godsmack #lightingupthesky #sullyerna #wellenbrecherbereich

The lead singer of Godsmack joins the show ahead of the band's performance at MGM National Harbor on May 5th to close out the "The Vibez Tour."
Welcome back to the Rock ‘n Roll Ghost Podcast. On this week's episode, the Ghost speaks with musician Shannon Larkin, drummer for the hard rock band Godsmack. Larkin discusses the band's upcoming Vibez Tour, which is making a stop at the Hard Rock Casino in Gary, IN (in addition to many other venues) and how this tour is different from the band's last coast-to-coast trek through America. The band will be performing acoustically and lead singer Sully Erna will tell some stories about the band and the songs played. Things take a bit of a political turn as Larkin and the Ghost discuss situations going on in the country. And, despite disagreeing on some issues, they prove that people can respectfully disagree on these issues. Check out this interesting interview and look in the links section for how to find out more about Godsmack and their tour. Sully Erna from Godsmack stopped by the show to talk about his career and the new tour Godsmack is going on, the Vibez tour! The Doc and Sully talked about the tour, what he's doing to prepare for the tour, how his workouts play a part of getting ready for tours, being inspired by Aerosmith in the early days, and his mom Connie playing a prominent role in his new documentary! Sully Erna discusses Godsmack's latest album, 'Lighting Up the Sky,' what it was like growing up in Lawrence, Mass., and why he lives with no regrets.
Days after his birthday, Sully Erna from Godsmack called in to discuss what the band has going on, along with his "I Stand Alone - The Sully Erna Story", which you can watch now. He told me how the documentary started, after writing manuscripts for his book "The Paths We Choose". He says his story is about perseverance....that's an understatement. "So many times I could've easily ended up dead or in jail." He told me how music really saved his life. He said he was nervous watching it, but he thinks it came out good. I watched it in one sitting. There was stuff in there that surprised me, and some stories that were, as he said, hard to believe. He's a guy who literally had to fight to achieve his success. "There really is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, it's just a mother f$#er getting there." People may or may not know, Godsmack was a late-blooming band. Most rock bands get their start in their 20s. Godsmack started to break in their 30s. That's unheard of in our business. He said after years of trying to make it as a musician for so long, he put the band together to just scratch an itch. He also talked about how drummer Shannon Larkin joined the band. He said they didn't even do auditions for drummers when he came aboard. Suly went on to explain how he joined the band and how the "drum battle" started. That's a highlight of any Godsmack show. As far as what the band has going on this year, he said they probably won't be working on any new music, but touring with an intimate night of music and storytelling. You can watch the documentary on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, and other streaming services.
Chatting with Sully from Godsmack about the Vibez Tour, the I Stand Alone documentary, Joe Perry, Betrayal and the new single "Truth", new music, and more!
On this episode of The Eddie Trunk Podcast, it's a recent interview with Godsmack's Sully Erna who talked about his documentary, I Stand Alone: The Sully Erna Story, the different bands he played in before Godsmack, the upcoming Vibez Tour, if there could be new Godsmack or solo music and much more! Are zombies real? A Harvard biology PhD named Wade Davis went to Haiti to investigate the stories of voodoo priests turning people into “zombies” with a poison, and it turned out that the poison was tetrodotoxin - and it's real. This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Visit betterhelp.com/DUBIOUS today to get 10% off your first month of therapy. Voodoo priests in Haiti make a poison concocted of human remains, snakes, frogs, sea worms, and most importantly... the venom of a puffer fish. The puffer fish venom is sort of the inverse of an anesthetic. Instead of dulling the pain, it dulls your ability to react to it. A person poisoned by the zombie powder is aware and conscious, but unable to move. Their metabolic rate slows to a crawl and they show signs of death, such as bluing of the extremities and lack of response to stimulus. And then when they're presumed dead and buried, the voodoo priest digs them up and tells them when they regain their freedom of movement that he has captured their soul, and they must serve him. This is a form of capital punishment in Haiti; a throwback to the colonial days when the only escape from bondage was death. But what if you can't die? What if you are resurrected and put back into bondage? This is the threat of the zombie poison: a fate worse than death, and it happened to the subject of Wade Davis' study. Clairvius Narcisse was pronounced dead and buried after he was poisoned by the zombie powder for the accused crime of stealing property from his brother after his parents died. The voodoo priest who poisoned him dug him up and sent him to work as a slave on a sugar plantation. If you like our content, please become a patron, you'll get all of our episodes ad-free. 1, 2 Not to be outdone, if you want to risk death from the zombie poison you can also get it by eating a puffer fish in Japan. In mild doses you get high and a little tingly, in extreme cases of eating too much puffer fish in Japan you might wind up like the man who was stuck in the morgue for 7 days, with everyone thinking he was dead. He woke up before being disemboweled and embalmed, thankfully... 3 All of this is still with us because of the late, great Wes Craven's movie about Wade Davis's trip to Haiti to study the zombie powder, called The Serpent and the Rainbow, it's one of the better 1980s horror genre films, check it out if you haven't seen it! The film and book also inspired the Godsmack song "Voodoo" over a decade later. 4, 5, 6 1. Gino Del Guerico. The Secrets of Haiti's Living Dead. Harvard Magazine. October 2017. ⇤2. Lakshmi Gandhi. Sully calls in, then we do some wisdom of Andy Blacksmiths.
While many bands released new albums during the peak of the pandemic, Sully Erna decided to ride it out and use the downtime to be with his closest friends and family. With the uncertainty of touring, Godsmack began working on new songs that will eventually be released in February 2023 on the album Lighting Up The Sky. Another bombshell that Sully drops is Lighting Up The Sky will probably be the last studio album coming from Godsmack. He will tell LA Lloyd why the band came up with this decision. Spoiler alert, the band isn't breaking up and will continue to tour…just don't expect new original music.

Sully Erna from Godsmack said that their next album will be their last. This got me thinking about other veteran bands. Is this a smart move? Should more bands do this? Which bands should follow suit? Some legendary bands stopped making new music and as a result, their reputation is without any blemishes. There are other bands like Metallica who have released albums that fans don't like. Let's discuss the matter in this week's episode of Heavy Metal Philosophy! Topics include melting high-end audiophile gear, HIT PARADER PRESENTS: NO COVER, Sully Erna and Dez from Coal Chamber almost died from covid, and we argue over the ethics of seeing our friends naked. The big story this week: Avenged Sevenfold took donations to pull off some shady crypto scheme that sent a handful of empty plate carriers to Ukrainians. We dive into the whole mess. Also, Tattoo the Earth returns 20 years later with Hatebreed in the exact same slot, GBK listening party, Kirk Hammett's solo material and the boys teach me the real reason Jason left Metallica. It's a good one. Music featured on this ‘sode: passionplay – Parasite Don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe to Toilet Radio on iTunes so you'll get new episodes automatically. Many deployed troops are lovers of rock music, and those deployed from the New England area would send Boston's beloved radio DJ and podcast host Mistress Carrie letters from Iraq and Afghanistan. A vehement supporter of U.S. troops and veterans, she wanted to find a way to give back, and in 2006 she made her way to Iraq, as the first non-news journalist embedded with troops there, before "deploying" for a second time in Afghanistan in 2011, where she met Brigadier General (Ret.) Jack Hammond, who was leading command in Kabul at the time. He tells us how a civilian, purple-haired rock DJ managed to fit right in, and Carrie tells us how she felt a connection with the troops, which is not surprising when you meet her. For the first episode of Home Base Nation's fourth season, Boston Rock DJ and podcast host Mistress Carrie stops by the Home Base Center of Excellence to speak with Ron about why supporting veterans matters so much and how she views service, and to catch up with Gen. Hammond. The two talk about their time spent together in Kabul, Afghanistan 11 years ago, during her second "deployment" as a non-news journalist, before reflecting together a special moment when they reflect on one very special mission she was given that they will both never forget. Sully Erna from Godsmack recently told his fellow musicians and entertainers to shut up and play, and stick to music rather then give medical or political advice. In this edition of the MalcoCast we talk about Sully's comments and give our own spin on them. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel for more great content!#SullyErna #GodsmackSully said is quoted as saying ""I get paid to be an entertainer. That's the position I've chosen. So I'll focus on entertaining, making people smile, healing people through music. And anybody else that's out there in a celebrity status that's pushing people one way or the other when you have no experience as a medical expert or a politician, my advice is shut up and let people live their lives because you don't know the consequences when you push them one way or the other. So why don't you just do what you're great at and entertain, because that's what you are."Read More: Godsmack's Sully Erna Calls Out Celebrities for Pandemic Advice | https://loudwire.com/godsmacks-sully-...
A band that certainly hoped to be all things to everyone, we're reviewing Godsmack's debut album that's a little bit Metallica, a little bit Creed, and a lot angry. Featuring songs with varying themes such as, "leave me alone", "I would like to be left alone", "stay away from me", and "I am a practicing witch", this is Sully Erna's album and it shows. We cover all of the bases here, from the aforementioned Wiccan affiliation of the band's lead singer to the Boston Music Awards to the lasting legacy of a band that's still doing this same thing over two decades later. If you want more of this same thing we're doing, you can head on over to patreon.com/thepodkast, where $4/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every month. You'll get a full-length episode and two mini singles episodes, AND, if you donate enough, you can tell us what to cover for an episode. It's very fun. This month, we have our second-ever live show coming up, where we review MTV's "The Making of...Alone I Break", as we get a glimpse into the truly unhinged making of Korn's "Alone I Break" video. It's on April 20th and you won't wanna miss it!

Sky was confronted by a random person at the store. We played another round of the Mystery Music Shuffle. We took a virtual tour of Emily's Car. And, among other things, we were joined by Godsmack's frontman Sully Erna.
Here's a terrible look at 'Today in Rock History' featuring: Sully Erna from Godsmack is 52. Chris Rock is 55. James Spader is 60. Have you tried going back and watching Pretty in Pink? It doesn't hold up. Charles Dickens was born on this day in 1812. Today in 1988, Mike Tyson entered into holy matrimony with the succubus who became his downfall . . . Robin Givens. They divorced on Valentine's Day the next year.
