The number 100 can be looked at as a milestone in many facets. Live to 100, and not only are you old as dirt, but you've most likely outlived most of the people you came up with throughout your life—which might seem depressing, and sad but that really is quite an amazing accomplishment. You're also part of a very special club of people that hit that milestone. When you're nine years old, $100 feels like a million, and then you grow up and that same $100 feels like $1 because the other $99 is keeping you alive—but that feeling you had as a kid was priceless. Hit the highway and when you realize there is no traffic you put the pedal to the medal. When you get to 100 mph and fly past that speed limit sign, you feel like a million bucks. Little do you know, there is a speed trap up ahead. As soon as you see the cop car, you slam on the brakes but you know there is no way you're not done for. You coast by only to realize the cop that would love to give you that nice fat speeding ticket, is preoccupied with taking a nap and you're in the clear (though potentially fun, this scenario is not recommended). In the podcasting community making it to 100 episodes is quite the feat. With over 2 million podcasts out there clogging up your internet connection, many don't make it anywhere near recording 100 episodes. This happens for many reasons, and quite simply put, podcasting just isn't for everyone, and that's okay. As we started approaching this milestone, we knew we had to put something together that would give back to our listeners and supporters. You guys always hear about what makes music so special to the three of us, but we wanted to be able to hear from all of you. We asked for clips of you telling everyone about an artist or album that greatly impacted your lives, and that is exactly what you gave us. With so many clips in hand, we've split this episode in two, for twice the fun. This is part 1, of a 2 part series made up entirely of you, our listeners, and supporters. NF revealed his next project, a mixtape titled Clouds. Looking at the tracklist on Apple Music, a quick glance through will reveal NF has two artists featuring: Hopsin and Tech N9ne. As an artist who is known for sticking to himself. The two features are somewhat unprecedented for him. NF including features is not uncommon for him. What is strange is that the two features on this mixtape are both rappers. Looking at his discography of four albums and one EP, NF has a total of seven artist features. Only one of those features raps on a track, Marty from Social Club Misfits. The rest are singers or rappers that exclusively sang on NF's records; Sasha Sloan, Ruelle, Andrea Moss, Fluerie, Jeremiah Carlson, and Britt Nicole. Mansion has three features, and Therapy Session has two. So while having two features on Clouds is not strange for the Michigan rapper, the features being rappers who, assumably, will show off their skill is new. NF has been tied to Hopsin in the past, and he has an Instagram picture with him. Hopsin veery famously has toyed with Christianity and has revealed his struggles with and eventual loss of faith. Tech9 is also an interesting choice. The rapid-fire southern rapper is sure to trade fast flows with NF. Tech9 isn't exactly a stranger to CHH either. He has spoken to Andy Mineo and they'll do something when it makes sense. So what does this mean for NF? The brand NF decides to portray is extremely stringent. The guy kept the black hoodie for his baby's gender reveal. This mixtape allows him to relax the brand and release music and content he wants to but hasn't been able to due to his brand dedication. Based on how successful NF's drive and brand has been, it's doubtful he will throw it to the wayside now. People change, however, so perhaps this is the start of a shift for the rapper. To deal with the pain of the loss, he found solace in his older brother's rap music, in particular, one rapper spoke directly to him through his lyrics & music. Aaron Dontez Yates, better known by his stage name Tech9. Tech9 is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He and business partner Travis O'Guin founded the record label Strange Music. DK knew that this was his calling, this was what he was born to do. Not everyone he cared about understood why he wanted to become a rapper. He was told that he couldn't make it by friends and family. They didn't like the music. They didn't like HIS music. Their doubt in him only fueled his desire even more. Against insurmountable odds DK found his way, working multiple jobs in the lumber industry, all the while dealing with the pain of losing his mother by listening to Tech9 and writing his own music to express how he felt. Little by little, he slowly began creating a loyal following in the little corner of the Pacific Northwest, in the town of Priest River and Newport Washington. And his older brother stopped beating him up and teasing him. His brother took notice of him. He was actually proud of him and began playing his music for his friends. In a chance encounter, DK literally ran into his idol, Tech9, on the streets and although the bodyguard tried to run him off, Tech9 stopped to talk with him. DK and Tech9 built up a friendship over the years. DK has been featured on multiple singles on Tech9's Strange Music label.
