Anne Trufant was sixteen and only went to Catholic summer camp to find the “cute boy in the room.” However, when Anne finally got the chance to dance with the cutest boy at camp, she looked up and didn't see the boy—she saw Jesus. This moment changed her life forever. Anne went home and couldn't get enough of what a seminarian referred to at camp as “Jesus' Love Letter.” She soaked Scripture in daily and, about 50 years later, continues to do so. Anne's personal relationship with Christ has led her to create a home for women who are pregnant and in crisis, do missionary work in Kenya, establish a Catholic summer camp in North Carolina and develop an online ministry centered in the Bible. Anne pours out Scripture passages embedded in her heart, personal stories of God's supernatural blessing of peace and phenomenal mama wisdom in this inspiring podcast. In this week's show, I talk with Ann Trufant, founder of Mission on the Mountain, about how God speaks to each of us. Ann share's a powerful encounter with Christ that she had at an early age and how that encounter changed the trajectory of her life. From that one encounter God gave her the gift of Scripture. Ann shares that so many Catholics believe the lie Scripture is hard or that Catholics just don't know the Bible. In ministry and retreats, Ann teaches that the Bible is "our book." She says it is how you and I get to know what Jesus said, the actions he took with others and it is how you get to know him on a deep and intimate level. So many times, women worry about the past or what will happen in the future. Women often overthink and overanalyze in order to control the outcome of different situations. Ann shares wise advice given to her by a spiritual director to "be where your feet are planted." If you are always looking for more, you're going to miss the now, which is where all of the grace can be found. The Lord has plenty of grace for this moment in your life. When you are present in the moment, this allows you to be open to where God wants to lead you. When you stop striving and resisting, you are able to hear the voice of God. Sometimes it will be a whisper in your ear, a message placed on your heart through Scripture, an image in your mind or just a deep knowing of God. Each one of us hears God voice in different ways during our faith journey. Knowing the Lord and being willing to listen will allow him to use you in ways to build up and encourage others, especially those you are most familiar with in your family, friend groups and those you encounter on a daily basis. Jennie Guinn is a Catholic speaker, Life Coach, Podcaster, Weekly Radio Show Host on Nashville Catholic Radio and Radio Maria USA, and the founder of Catholic Moms in the Middle. After 26 years of working in Catholic education, Jennie felt God calling her "to step out of the boat" to serve in a new way. In her new ministry, she equips and encourages middle-life women to encounter the love of the Father and to be transformed and healed by the power of the Holy Spirit so they can MAGNIFY Christ in their corner of the world.

The Trufant's play a game of "tell your truth." Kel asks them questions and they HAVE to tell the absolute truth. Get the popcorn ready because they're spilling all the tea.
After taking a few weeks off, the Trufant's are back and Jessica is 1 year older! Plus, the kids are back in school. Listen in as we get caught up on everything going on in the Trufant household.
Corporal punishment reinforces racist stereotypes in the Black community and has no place in the Trufant household. They don't hit their kids, ever. In this episode, Marcus and Jessica reveal the most effective and emotionally mature ways to punish their kids that don't include spanking, whooping, beat-downs, or whatever you call it these days. Spanking might feel like an effective punishment for unruly kids. But, if you stop and think about the long-term consequences - it's just not worth it. They also talk about how they were disciplined growing up and the differences in disciplining girls vs. boys.
On this episode of the Beyond the Helmet we are joined by former pro bowl cornerback and 10 year Seattle Seahawk, Marcus Trufant.Marcus Trufant was an incredible athlete as a collegiate star and staple of the Seahawks defense for a decade. He took the time to talk about his road of success, camaraderie and hard work in the pacific northwest through all of this. That being said, he’s only scratched the surface of who he is.Trufant has spent the near-decade since his NFL career ended reinventing himself. He is a success entrepreneur in the self storage space, his Trufant Family Foundation has been changing lives since his playing days and most recently he has launched his own podcast, Truly Unruly, alongside his wife. The Trufants oldest daughter just turned 15, and as she gets older, Jessica is starting to get nervous. In this episode, they get real about how they're preparing for the day that she will leave the nest. Or, maybe she won't (if Jessica has her way). Later, the Trufant's gave it to the Peloton craze - is it worth it? Does it live up to the hype? Find out in episode 14.
The Trufant family swapped the Seattle rain for sunshine in Hawaii for the holidays. Turns out, even paradise is weird in the middle of a pandemic - add 5 kids and 44 people on top of that and they were in for quite the experience. From meeting all the requirements to travel, getting the kids COVID tested and even the hassle of eating at a resort, this was not your typical vacation. Later on, the Trufants share some of their plans for 2021
The Trufants spill the tea about their big wedding day. Talk about drama - Marcus was hammered, Jessica was pregnant (and maybe a little bit of a bridezilla) and their wedding was bat shit crazy in the most off-the-hook way! Jessica reveals her biggest wedding planning regrets. The DREAM Trufant wedding might have turned into pure comedy gold but, in the end, "it's all love and light," says Marcus.
00:10 Friday injury report is long. Agnew - rib fracture? Golladay - hip flexor strain? Walker- Seemed fine during Colts game Dahl- Seemed fine during Colts game Roberts- Likely fine but may not need him with Trufant back. Vaitai- Looked to be struggling mightily with foot injury vs Colts. Might be wise to give him a week of rest and play Crosby instead. Decker- Had back injury last year. 04:00 Matthew Stafford on COVID list not due to a positive test. Will be available for Vikings game if his daily tests are negative. 08:30 Current state of Lions. How good is this team? Not good based on point differential and "clear-cut" games. 10:50 Colts game recap. Not aggressive enough with pass rush and blitzes. Dropping 7 into coverage isn't even helping coverage much. 11:30 Worst play of game - First series for Colts. Short crosser is wide open goes for 24 yards. 12:30 Man defense percentage increased to 61% vs Colts. Do we need to play more zone to stop the short crossers? 13:00 Lions OLine had a horrible game giving up consistent pressure to 4 man rushes. Vaitai and Dahl injuries might have been the problem. 14:00 Adrian Peterson YPC down to 2.6. Might be a scheme problem more than an AP problem. Try using AP as a decoy and predominantly pass when he is in the game? 00:15 Wednesday injury report analysis. 00:44 Glad to see NFL is not postponing games due to small number of positive tests. 01:10 NFL will hold players out with cold/flu symptoms. Players can hide symptoms or embellish symptoms depending on how much they want to play. 03:45 Jaguars had single positive test on Friday and 12 of 16 practice squad players also placed on COVID reserve list. 04:34 Would the NFL hold out a star QB due to being a close contact? 05:20 Lions injury news. Trufant out. Ragnow questionable. Joe Dahl could be the center. Tyrell Crosby is solid at OT. 06:20 Lions favored by 3. Away teams are winning 55% against-the-spread (ATS) this year. Underdogs are 51% ATS this year. 08:08 Will this be an offensive showdown? 08:25 Will Lions defense show some changes coming off bye week? I'd like to see more creativity with pass rushers and stop those short crossers. -I'm Jimmy Liao and welcome to the Detroit Lions Morning Rounds podcast. 00:15 Saints blow out, yes blow out the Lions. Game not nearly as close as the score. 01:50 Injury recap. Trufant aggravates hamstring. 02:55 Offense was decent. Swift looked good, maybe play him more? 04:30 Stafford not playing well enough. Two horrible passes to Jesse James and TJ. 06:10 How does Stafford rank in the NFL right now? Around 17-22. 10:55 Defense is embarrassing. Cory Undlin has had minimal impact. 11:25 Run defense anemic. 12:20 Defense is either INT or give up a TD. Can't force any punts. 13:00 Pass rush? Where is Trey Flowers? Romeo made some plays. 14:10 Linebackers not blitzing effectively. 14:52 Secondary not doing great either. 16:29 Matt Patricia does not appear to be able to learn or adapt in over 2 years. 17:50 Worst play of the game. Giving up 19 yards on 2nd and 16. 20:25 Benefits of firing Patricia now. 21:30 I approve of going for 2 down by 8. -I'm Jimmy Liao and welcome to the Detroit Lions Morning Rounds podcast.
