I openly joke about my tendency to "lay things down at God/Universe's feet... only to pick it back up again." Do you relate to this?Over the last five years, I've focused so much energy on building faith in myself and trusting my own mind, abilities, and humanness. In the process, I pulled further away from believing in anything else.Trust the Universe? Nope, I'll just work harder and do more, thank you.And that's no longer working for me. So this year, I'm focusing my word of the year and intention on TRUST, and surrendering to the process is a big part of that. For today's episode, I invited some friends to share their stories of trust and surrender to be inspiring to all of us.Today's episode includes:Kelley Bode from Season 3, Episode 11. Like what Oprah Winfrey's guest, Deborah Tannen said: "Sisterhood is fascinating because it is a unique connection of the coming together of connection and competition. The fact that you have these age differences is a built-in power struggle, and the fact that you're all trying to get attention and resources from the same parents creates competition. And the fact that you are always together making comparison inevitable, so all of those dynamics were, to me, terribly fascinating." - I could not agree more!In today's episode, my sisters and I share how we create a safe space for each other to show up authentically:Using enneagram to understand our different personalities, strengths, and challenges in life, and examine how we relate to ourselves, others, and our world.Finding a safe space for different personalities to have an easy way for a difficult conversationHow to have truly, deep meaningful conversationsThe importance of setting healthy boundaries in your relationshipsand believe me, so much more!Keep Up With MeKeep up with my travel and adventures @theremoteyogi and find tons of free resources on how to live with more confidence at theremoteyogi.comHelp me to share the message of Embracing Human by liking this episode, sharing it with your friends, following the podcast, and giving a review. Can you believe we are just over halfway through 2021? I don't know about you but I was really feeling the need for a midyear reset to refocus on my goals.I'm so grateful that a friend sent me the video from Struthless on his Half Year Reset method and the workbook that goes with it. This isn't a simple journal exercise, but one that takes some time and effort. Believe me - it's worth it.This helped me to not only reset my priorities for the rest of 2021, but I was also able to celebrate some of the smaller accomplishments I hadn't been paying attention to. This isn't a practice to beat yourself up on where you've fallen short, but to have a non-judgmental look at where you want to improve and celebrate how far you've come.Ready for the reset? Grab a notebook and let's go!This is the final episode for season 3. We'll be taking our seasonal break and returning with episodes in September. I'm going to take a wild guess that you've placed someone on a pedestal at some point in your life. You know how that looks - when think someone is much better, cooler or hotter than you. Or it can also be a sense of idolizing someone you look up to or believe in.What's the problem with pedestals? They create a sense of separation. When someone is better than or less than, we're not operating from the same playing field - which isn't true. This pattern increases self doubt and insecurities, which we want to avoid. In this episode, I chat about:How we place celebrities, teachers, and partners on pedestalsThe way seeing someone as better than you creates an energy of separationWanting to be on a pedestal creates distance in relationshipsClearing out the desire for perfection or a saviorPedestals and polish can create inauthenticity in businessI share a story about how I placed myself on a pedestal in my marriage and it ultimately influenced our divorce. Holding up the desire to be a “good girl” exhausted me throughout most of my life, until I decided it was no longer something I needed to care about. My story is deeply connected to my roots in the church and what it taught me as a child. Through the lessons I learned at that age, I took on a lot of shame and judgment. It led me to a lot of self loathing and self-harm.Even more shocking, I still find that my childhood faith still impacts how I play small as an adult. While my experience may not be the same as yours, I ask that you hear it and understand that many other women have experienced similar stories. I honor everyone’s right to their own beliefs, as long as they’re not pressured onto others. In this episode, I share:How I wanted to be a perfect good Christian girl, while equally knowing I would “never be enough”The shame of sexual desire in my youthDeveloping deep judgment for myself and othersSelf-harm as a form of self-punishment for being “bad”Experiencing the weight of shame and numbing out To be a woman meant being selfless and subservient What I’ve realized in shedding these controlling concepts are that women are fierce and powerful! When we shed the need to fit into a perfect “good girl” box, we step into our true selves and man – it’s stunning!I work to help women clear shame and believe in themselves in my 1-1 program, Empress. If something devastating was to happen to you and you were bedridden for a long time, how would you feel about yourself? If you had to rely on other people taking care of you and you weren’t able to do much, how would you feel about you? These are some of the big questions we dive into in today’s episode to really take a look at our flawed, and often hidden beliefs, around productivity and our worth.Listen in to find out more about:Identifying how our feelings of worthiness are attached to our productivityHow we create conditional love and the impact it has on our worthThe roles we feel we must fulfil and the unattainable expectations we setFeeling innately worthy AND having epic goalsProducing from a state of inspired action and joy, over fear and stressUnravelling the misconception of ‘If I believe I’m worthy without doing anything then I’ll stop wanting to do anything’ – NOT true!Tapping into this key piece is probably going to make you even better/happier/successful at what you do! And if it doesn’t you’ll know you are worthy regardless. I’d call that a win-win situation!Keep up with my travel and adventures @theremoteyogi and find tons of free resources on how to live with more confidence at theremoteyogi.blog.Sign up for the Remote Yogi Tribe here and don’t forget to use the coupon code HUMAN for 10% off.Help me to share the message of Embracing Human by liking this episode, sharing it with your friends, following the podcast, and giving a review. I hope you'll feel just as validated and comforted as I did hearing that sometimes taking risks and leveraging everything you have is an act of necessary bravery. As Krystal says, sometimes you have to 'jump off the cliff and build a parachute on the way down'.In this episode we get into:Releasing shame around money habits Normalising messy accounts and bookkeeping for your biz - no judgement!Taking risks and going against all the money advice you may have ever heard Figuring out what works for you, not some outdated, traditional, financial adviceCreating safe spaces (for women especially), to discuss moneyBeing brave and stepping into your power around moneyKrystal, or Pino as most of her travel companions know her, is the mastermind behind Nomad Tax. Yes, everyone's (not so) favourite topic, Boundaries! Setting boundaries can definitely feel uncomfortable for many of us, especially for people-pleasers such as myself, but it doesn't have to be. In today's episode I talk about why boundaries are so important for our relationships, for ourselves and also for others. I get down into the details of exactly how to create them and word by word sentences you can use to communicate them whilst coming from a loving and kind space. In this episode, I break down:Exactly what a boundary is and why we need themSpecific advice for people pleasers, why we find boundary setting so difficult and how to overcome itHow to create effective boundariesHow to communicate boundaries clearly, and the mistakes we often makeWhat to do when someone breaks a boundary; setting consequences and following through5 Main 'Soul Rights' to keep in mind when creating boundariesI'll say it again, Boundaries are a form of self-love, an act of self-care and honoring your worth. You may be surprised just how empowering it feels the more you practice and set boundaries in your life. It can very quickly shift from a feeling of discomfort to feeling amazing! I encourage you, with love, to give it a try.Keep up with my travel and adventures @theremoteyogi and find tons of free resources on how to live with more confidence at theremoteyogi.blog.Help me to share the message of Embracing Human by liking this episode, sharing it with your friends, following the podcast, and giving a review. Oh goodness! Ready for some personal confessions? In this episode, I'm sharing some epic humanness and embarrassing lessons I've had to learn in the last few years.
