Gordon and Joe are joined this week by Rev. Catherine Clarenbach, who is a Unitarian Universalist minister and Wiccan priestess. They discuss Catherine’s involvement in these groups, what they stand for and her checkered history with mental health. As both a Wiccan priestess and ordained Unitarian Universalist minister, Catharine has walked at the religious and spiritual edges. She is a self proclaimed ‘queer, fat femme with bipolar disorder and ADHD’ -- a collection of identities that inform and shape how she moves through the world. Growing up devoutly, musically Roman Catholic, she has since been welcomed into the religious houses and communities of those who practice la Regla de Ocha (better known as Santeria), Sunni and Sufi Islam, Reform and Conservative Judaism, Norse Heathenry, and many other forms of religious life. She owes special debts to the Sisters of St. Joseph and her comrades in the Tradition of Stone Circle Wicca (USA), all of whom have taught her the great value of living out the core values of authenticity, integrity, compassion, and wisdom, held together in love.Trigger WarningDiscussion around suicide and trauma in this episode.Show NotesThe Way of The River Read through Catharine’s Blog postsLiminal Podcast is about dealing with change, be that through humour, self-care, science, or spirituality.
