What does mobbing look like? Mobbing may not be easy to identify as it creates a smokescreen that makes it difficult to identify the forms of bullying and the real culprits behind it. Slander By spreading lies or making false accusations, the harasser or harassers seek to damage the reputation of the victim and encourage rejection by other workers. Discredit A harasser can undermine their victim's credibility and autonomy by making them appear mentally ill, suggesting that they suffer from some condition that makes them incapable or that their attempts to defend themselves stem from some delusion of persecution and not from reality. Humiliation A harasser may humiliate his victim in public, for example by devaluing his work, exaggerating his mistakes or making negative comments related to his race, gender, nationality or religion. Work load The inadequate distribution of the workload is also a form of harassment. You may note that you are assigned more responsibilities than your peers, or that these do not correspond to your actual qualifications or the functions of your position (too easy or not interesting tasks). Sabotage It is common when the harassers are subordinates. They can sabotage a boss's attempts to improve aspects of the company or make changes implemented during her tenure look negative. Isolation The harasser or harassers can favor the isolation of the victim by encouraging other people not to interact with the person or by interfering with existing communication channels. They may avoid eye contact as a way to make the victim feel invisible or assign them a separate workplace.

    1. Write a Letter. This could be to your ex or to the one who is gone. This can offer a safe and private space to pour out your emotions. Take your time. Write anything that comes to mind, whether that includes regrets or the unknown of how to move forward without them. 2. Bury It (Literally, Not Figuratively). Okay, this may feel a little “woo-woo.” Yet, this practice offers a symbolic way to let go. 3. Give Yourself Permission to Feel. Many of us try to fight our emotions, especially when they are negative. But what if this time, you gave yourself permission to feel it? What if you allowed yourself to cry until you couldn't anymore?  4. Be Patient. Time is your friend here. While we can't change the past, we can learn to that as time goes on we may feel better and that practicing patience with ourselves is the best way to go. 5. Say Goodbye. Whether you had a chance or not, maybe closure wasn't there. Or perhaps the time didn't allow for a proper farewell. Or maybe you just wanted more time; so much was left unsaid.   6. Create a Memory Box. This provides somewhere you can go when you're really missing your loved one. A memory box might include a simple shoebox filled with small items that are sentimental to you or remind you of them. 7. Plant Something in Their Honor. Seriously! Where there has been loss, give life. This might mean planting a new tree or annual plant to signify the circle of life and honor the one lost. It can also provide a place where you can visit and think about your memories together.

By its very nature, it cannot be offered to you by someone else. It is your responsibility, and something that people who love and care for you expect from you too. As you can imagine, there are several aspects to self-care, just as there are several aspects to your life. There is: emotional self-care physical self-care spiritual self-care professional self-care mental self-care social self-care Whatever you do to replenish, restore, and maintain your balance in any of those aspects of your life can be considered self-care. It is important to note that the aim of self-care isn't to eliminate every stress in your life. The truth is that some stress can be good. The aim however, is to cut off the negative ones – the ones that are killing you. 1. Physical Self-care Exercise: Ensure you stretch your muscles, and keep the joints lubricated by working out regularly. This could be as basic as running (or going for walks, depending on your age or health). 2. Mental Self-care Observe: Observe your emotions as they come and go. What is Mind Flow? The mind flow state involves being hyper focused on a task or activity where one isn't too bored nor are they too challenged. During this time, we don't think about anything outside of the task or have thoughts about ourselves performing the task. As I write most of my articles, I actually find getting into this state produces the best works I've ever written! You're ultra-focused. It's hard to distract you from the task or activity. In fact, when you do face an interruption, you might actually feel annoyed by it. You lack a constant stream of self-consciousness. We are always thinking. However, in a mind flow state, we don't have that constant stream of thoughts or opinions about ourselves. We merely just do or “be.” You enjoy what you're working on. When we enjoy the task or activity, we are much more likely to immerse ourselves in it. You persist, despite potential setbacks. When in a flow state, we might face fewer frustrations (or feelings of wanting to “give up”). Instead, we strive to complete the task to the best of our abilities, persisting even in adverse circumstances. How Do You Get Into a Flow State of Mind? So, how can you harness the power of a flow state of mind to achieve higher productivity and satisfaction?   1. Clearly define your goals. What is the purpose of the task? What do you wish to accomplish? 2. Find a balance between challenge and your skillset. A mind flow state is easy to achieve when you have the right balance between your skills and what challenges you. This allows you to push things forward in a positive direction while also boosting your confidence in your own strengths.

What is Psychological Safety? Psychological safety refers to the ability to speak up, express ideas, ask questions, admit mistakes, or bring up concerns without fear of being ridiculed, punished, or shamed. In the workplace, this often translates into a team perspective that it's okay to take risks; In fact, it should be encouraged to foster growth and move the needle forward. What is an Example of Psychological Safety? A few examples of psychological safety include: Feeling comfortable asking your boss or co-workers questions Being able to bring up potential pitfalls or mistakes without fear of being prosecuted Encouraging one another to take some risks and bring original ideas to the table Lifting each other up in a group setting as opposed to shutting each other down through intimidation or bullying All of the above creates a team atmosphere where every individual feels valued and heard, which, as many of us know, is undeniably important for overall mental well-being and safety. Step 1: Create an open and respectful culture. Usually, as a leader, this means setting the stage or setting the “example” for others. Being respectful in every interaction and being open to ideas or questions can show that it's okay to bring up concerns and also shows that everyone is valued as a team member. Step 2: Be honest and transparent with projects or processes. Transparency goes a long way in most situations. When we can understand the reasoning behind decisions, we are better able to accept them. So, how does this contribute to psychological safety? This goes for leaders in the workplace and can also apply somewhat to parenting at home.

Is this pain keeping you from living your best life? 1. Notice and Name the Emotions The first step towards healing painful memories is notice and name your more intense emotions as they arise. Understand that it's okay to feel sad, angry, or hurt about your memories. The key is to notice them without letting them completely overtake you. 2. Pause and Observe the Emotions The second step is to pause and try to avoid any immediate emotional response. Take a few deep breaths, inhaling for a count of four and exhaling for a count of six. Repeat this process a few times until you feel calmer. 3. Explore How You Feel in Your Body The next step involves exploring the situation that triggered your emotions and paying attention to your body's reactions. What happened to cause your emotions to rise? Was it a person, place, or sound that triggered you? If you have a journal, go ahead and write it down.   4. Reflection The next step in this process is to engage in some introspection and try to recall a time when you felt the same way, either as a child or recently. Don't think of it as reliving the painful memories, but rather as examining the stored emotions and memories that have been waiting to be released. 5. Processing and Healing the Memories The last step is to process and allow healing of the painful memories. As a byproduct of the previous steps, the pain associated with the memories will heal or integrate back into the whole psyche, leaving you feeling better emotionally.

FOMO is an Illusion But FOMO is an illusion; not because you won't miss out on some things if you don't try to stay updated. But because no matter how hard you try, you will always miss out on some things – either by choice or by physical constraints.              FOMO Can Lead You to Be Taken Advantage of They know that there is a deep-rooted fear in you to not miss out, and so they leverage it.     This means we strongly desire to act like the people around us – we look around to see what others are doing so that we can do the same – to avoid being an oddball (or feel awkward).       It's what makes you stop scrolling and start gawking at the perfect vacation picture of your high school classmate on Instagram. This is what makes you drool over the new shoes your Facebook friend bought. It is what makes you want to leave the boring class and go have some fun.    People who should listen to this show are therapists and counselors

The idea of mindfulness might sound a little woo-woo. But there's actually tons of research on it, especially regarding mental well-being and health. Becoming more mindful breaks this cycle, but it does take practice. All mindfulness practices incorporate the three major pillars of mindfulness, which include: Intention: This allows us to foster that awareness and return to this new level of awareness when we need to. Attention: This means paying attention solely to the present moment, not what happened yesterday or what may happen tomorrow. It's all about the now. What do you feel? What thoughts do you observe? Attitude: Mindfulness requires a non-judgmental attitude, along with some curiosity and kindness (especially when it comes to your own thoughts!).  A scientific review dating back to 2013 on mindfulness stated that, “mindfulness brings about various positive psychological effects, including increased subjective well-being, reduced psychological symptoms and emotional reactivity, and improved behavioral regulation.” Mindfulness involves being aware of your own judgments and being able to separate them from your actions so that you aren't acting or speaking from a place of judgment when it comes to others or yourself. After all, the world isn't black and white. Patience Rushing through life is a surefire way to get to your deathbed and wonder what the heck happened. Instead, be patient with life. Enjoy the journey, and take the emphasis off the destination. Beginner's Mindset   People who should listen to this are therapists, coaches, counselors

Why Should I Care What My Nervous System Is Doing? You may be thinking, “Why should I care what my autonomous nervous system (ANS) is doing?” But follow me here, because I think once you see how incredibly wise the body is, you'll be able to see how your ANS is working FOR and maybe even AGAINST you. Relationships: Do You Fight, Flee or Freeze in Arguments? I'm a “freezer” during an argument. My partner tends to be the “fighter”. Here's a little scenario: Partner: “I'd really like you to come to (Random event) with me Friday night.” Can The Stress Response Be Overactive? Yes. The stress response CAN be overactive, as in the case of my partner and I. This overactive (or over-reactive) response occurs when we are “triggered” by things we perceive as threatening, but they're not really life threatening. Relaxation (Regulating) Techniques Relaxation techniques are helpful for “deactivating” the stress response. You can: Use deep, slow breaths, while solely focusing on relaxing your entire body. Use a mantra, such as “I am safe”. Do this over and over until you feel yourself calming down. Use visualization, such as lounging at the beach or sitting in nature. Mindfulness – stay present, so the more rational part of your brain stays “online”. Meditation – the practice of meditation can help build a more resilient, regulated nervous system, calm the mind Vagus nerve reset exercises.
