What if the biggest problem in your life isn't the people around you… but who's sitting on the throne of your heart? This week's message from Colossians 3 dives into one of the most misunderstood and misused parts of Scripture - household codes. But what if they're not about control or power? What if they're actually about freedom, love, and surrender? In a world chasing status and authority, Jesus flips the script. He doesn't call us to rule over one another - He calls us to serve. He calls us to submit to Him, and through Him, to one another in humility and love. When the peace of Christ rules your heart, it changes everything - your marriage, your parenting, your friendships, your future. If you need prayer, we're here for you. In this episode of the Servants of Grace Theology Segment, Dave Jenkins answers a listener's question: “Why do cults use God falsely in their mission?”Cults often use religious language and biblical imagery to manipulate and control. They twist Scripture, exploit faith, and claim divine authority to lead others into deception. In this episode, Dave unpacks how these spiritual traps work — and how Christians can recognize them and respond with truth, wisdom, and discernment.Audio: Watch Video:What You'll Learn:How cults use religious language to gain trustWhy leaders invoke God's name to justify controlCommon tactics: isolation, fear, control, shameBiblical discernment to spot false teachingHow Christians can stand firm in truth and graceScripture References:Matthew 7:15–172 Timothy 4:3–4Galatians 1:6–9Acts 17:112 Timothy 3:16–171 Timothy 4:1Ephesians 6:10–18Subscribe & Follow:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/22CmXpzbz6JYjemSV0CMwt→ Listen and follow us on SpotifyApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/servants-of-grace/id1240932035→ Subscribe and leave a review on AppleYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/servantsofgrace→ Watch episodes and subscribe on YouTubeTheology Segment Archive: https://servantsofgrace.org/servants-of-grace-theology-segment/→ Explore more theology-focused content
|| ABOUT THIS MESSAGE || As we celebrate our graduating seniors, Pastor David emphasizes how important it is for us to reflect God's love in the ways we live and serve. He compares the prideful attitude of a Pharisee to the humble devotion of a sinful woman who showed deep love for Jesus, which tells us that true surrender moves us to serve, even when it's not convenient. How is God calling you to step into action in your faith journey?|| ABOUT BEACH CHURCH || We exist to reach, raise up, and release followers of Jesus who change the world. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone is welcome to learn about a relationship with God, whether you're curious or confident in your faith. || GET CONNECTED || Here at Beach, we are most passionate about seeing people come into a relationship with Jesus! This message focuses on Peter's central declaration from Acts 2:36: that God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ. Danny unpacks the significance of Jesus being Lord (having authority and control) and Christ (the anointed Messiah), emphasizing that acknowledging Jesus as Lord means accepting His authority in our lives. This message underscores that content matters and the Bible is the source for answers. We discuss that repentance is a continuous turning from sin towards God, and baptism is an outward symbol of this inward decision. The Scriptures speak very explicitly of the importance of both inward and outward holiness. One issue specifically addressed is the wearing of items that reflect inner pride and immodesty. The “gold” in our lives should be found on the inside, that is, a spirit that is in alignment with God's Word and is truly Christ-like. 11/09/2023 - Thursday NightScriptures Used (In Order of Occurrence):I Peter 3:1-5I Corinthians 10:23I Timothy 2:8-10Genesis 35:4Exodus 32:20Exodus 33:4-6Exodus 35:22Numbers 31:50Deuteronomy 7:25-26Judges 8:24-27Ezekiel 16:11-17Isaiah 3:16-26Hosea 2:13Jeremiah 4:30Ezekiel 23:40I Timothy 2:8-10I Peter 3:3-5Psalm 149:4Supplemental Scriptures:Galatians 6:22-25I Corinthians 12:2, 14:1Ephesians 5:27I Thessalonians 4:1-4, 5:22I Timothy 2:9-10II Corinthians 6:17, 7:1Ephesians 5:21Philippians 2:3I Corinthians 8:9-13, 10:32Ephesians 2:10Titus 1:16James 2:17-18Ephesians 4:14-15Hebrews 6:1, 10:23-28James 2:14, 2:26, 4:8Job 42:11Genesis 24:53, 13:2Exodus 3:22, 11:2Genesis 35:1-4Exodus 32 & 33, 35:22Deuteronomy 17:17

A soul is never lost in a moment, but there is a gradual loosening of convictions that eventually paves the road to walking away from God. God's people have to intentionally maintain their closeness with Him. The enemy will come through the smallest of doorways, so we must ensure that we don't become “loose” in our convictions and give no place to the devil. 06/11/2023 - Sunday NightScriptures Used (In Order of Occurrence):II Kings 6:1-7II Peter 2:19-22Hebrews 2:1James 1:14-15Psalm 1:1Ephesians 4:17-19Jeremiah 6:15I Timothy 4:2Titus 1:15Psalm 73:17-19

In Episode 131, we discuss systematic theology and its various publications. Before we go deeper into it, let's define theology as the process by which we arrange our thinking about God. It is not difficult to comprehend what theology is. It is when we go through the Bible subject by topic.Systematic theology may seem to be a subject best left to the professionals—those pastors and instructors who have been called by God to perform the hard work for us. We trust them to comb through the Bible's language, ideas, and themes, tie everything together, and deliver it to us in an easy-to-digest format.Tune in now, and let's go bigger, better, and deeper! In Episode 108, we dive deeper into the topic of union with Christ; what it means, how it was developed in the Bible and how it can apply radical identity changes to the members of your church group. This is theologically, one of the most central and most important of all doctrines, that include three types of union with Christ: Moral, Legal and Mystical.Of all the things you could discuss with your loved ones, church group, pastor, women's or men's ministry, the doctrine of union with Christ and what it means is probably the most powerful and life-changing. And in the next episode, we're going to follow up on another topic which is the Riches of Divine Grace. Tune in now and let's go bigger, better, and deeper! Let me ask you this, have you had a difficult time forgiving yourself for some past sin? Do you have a nagging feeling of guilt that you can't seem to get to go away? Being able to forgive yourself, and the forgiveness of your sins is available if you will place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior. Ephesians 1:7 says, "In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace." Three very important questions we will address:1. What is the posture of Jesus toward those who trust him? In Matthew 11, Jesus invites the weary to come to him that they might find rest. He says he is gentle and lowly in heart. Is that how you have heard Jesus presented? Or have you been told that he is harsh, exacting, and probably disappointed in you? Members' Podcast: Jon and Justin talk about the patience, mercy, and gentleness of Christ--and how much we all need to be reminded of that. The guys also discuss self-righteousness and confusion of law and gospel in the pulpit.
