Fictional character in DC Comics

Tubi? Jim Wynorski? Comic book movie? Sometimes I think we parody ourselves. Your Stupid Minds comes to you this time around with 1989's The Return of Swamp Thing, starring Heather Locklear, Louis Jourdan and Wynorski muse Monique Gabrielle. Picking up after the events of the last movie, as best we can surmise Swamp Thing killed Dr. Anton Arcane (Jourdan) but it didn't take, since he specializes in Ra's al Ghul style immortality practices. So Swamp Thing, a.k.a. Alec Holland, wanders around the Louisiana bayou campily beating up monsters and cajun caricatures. It vaguely resembles Alan Moore's run of the comic; as if someone recited major plot points from memory to the screenwriters while they watch TV. Meanwhile, Abby Arcane (Locklear) goes to her step-father's swamp compound in some vague attempt to learn more about her dead mother. She's met by Dr. Arcane's menagerie of 80s misfits: buxom British scientist Dr. Lana Zurrell (Sarah Douglas), asthmatic other scientist Dr. Rochelle (Ace Mask, who as far as we know is not a homunculus assembled from Jim Carrey movie titles) and mercenary Miss Poinsettia (Gabrielle). There's some plot point about using Abby's blood to create an immortality serum (since she has the "exact genetic code" of her mother, which is not how genetics work). Meanwhile some crawfish-fed local youths try to snap a picture of Swamp Thing using their dad's $5,000 camera. Will Swamp Thing save the day? Will he and Abby have sex after hallucinating off a flower he picked off his body? Can Swamp Thing drive a Jeep? You'll have to listen to find out!

Geekorama is Produced by Superhero-Fiction.comhttps://www.superhero-fiction.com For this week’s episode of Geekorama, we’re going to give you a sneak peek at some of the exciting things happening in our author careers. We finally open up about our own writing in the superhero genre, and talk at length about why we’re branching out to touch upon other sub-genres. Pop-Culture Trivia-July 1971 Swamp ThingA humanoid/plant elemental creature, created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson, the Swamp Thing has had several humanoid or monster incarnations in various different storylines. The character first appeared in House of Secrets #92 (July 1971) in a stand-alone horror story set in the early 20th century. The Swamp Thing television series first aired on the USA Network from 1990 to 1993, with Dick Durock reprising the role of Swamp Thing from the movie adaptation. DiC Entertainment's Swamp Thing animated series debuted on Fox Kids in April 1991, with Len Carlson providing the voice of the title character. A live-action series based on the Swamp Thing and produced by James Wan was released in 2019 on the DC Universe streaming service, with Alec Holland portrayed by Andy Bean while Swamp Thing is played by Derek Mears in a "physical costume."GEEK OUTSTrish - The Last Kingdom on Netflix. What happens when you take AirBnB, annoying people, and a crazy dude with a hammer? Deep Dive - What’s New in Our Superhero Worlds?Trish - I’m pivoting my Superhero universe to start focusing on more romantic novels. For TL Heinrich, it will be superhero first with slow burn romances and read quite a lot like Paranormal and Urban Fantasy with romantic elements more front and center. For Trish Heinrich, it’s Romance first, superheroes second with a good dose of steam.Jeremy - The second series is with the editor and I'm looking at a busy fall. After my pilot series focusing on action adventure, the prequel is much more of an alternate history / urban fantasy vibe. While that's with the editor I'm working on a much thicker science fiction novel that takes place centuries in the future. My current strategy is to maintain a superhero focus while touching on other genres to expand readership. We'll see how this pans out! QotW: What is your favorite superhero sub-genre? We've absolutely adored our time with these fabulous creatures, but we're excited to contemplate where they go from here. Our conversation uses The New 52 storyline "Season's End" as our backbone, and upon it, we find two very different beings than when we last discussed their relationship. In fact, one of them is not even the same lifeform as before. Whoa. New 52 gets weird, but that's how we like our Swamp Thing. Author Charles Soule is a big-idea man, and he pits Alec and Abby against some rather epic abominations in the form of The Machine Kingdom. What hope does The Green have when competing against the cold logic of Calculus? Is there time to love when the apocalypse is on the horizon? Are Alec and Abby a forever-couple? We answer within. Issues covered in this episode: Swamp Thing Vol. 4 numbers 35 - 40, Swamp Thing Annual No. 3, and Swamp Thing - Future's End No. 1. Be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Twitter @CBCCPodcast, and you can follow the hosts @MouthDork & @sidewalksiren.
From the blossom of romance to its rot, this week, we're tackling one of the darkest moments in the relationship between Swamp Thing and Abigail Arcane - Nancy A. Collins' "Martial Problems." These final four issues in her run are fraught with emotional turmoil for both parties and left us aching with deep empathy for the guardians of the Green. The Vertigo era of the book was a time of transition, and Collins went in with a plan to revitalize the characters and concepts and left the Louisanna bog a scorched Earth! As far as superhero breakups are concerned, few are as understandable or as strange as the one witnessed in these significant comics. Will they recover? That's a question for next week. Until then, pull up a chair, nab one of Constantine's smokes, and join us as we evaluate the end of the line for Abby and the plant which once dreamed he was Alec Holland. Issues Covered in this episode: Swamp Thing Vol. 2 135 - 138. Be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Twitter @CBCCPodcast, and you can follow the hosts @MouthDork & @sidewalksiren.
"There is no contradiction...only the pulse. The pulse within the world. Within us. Within me." In this week's episode, we finally witness the union between Abigail Arcane and Alec Holland...or, at least, the plant which once dreamed he was Alec Holland. "The Saga of the Swamp Thing" is a game-changer comic book. Not just because it's the arrival of Alan Moore upon the American comics scene, but in how it reveals the potential elevated philosophical heights of the art form. These are not your daddy's Swamp Thing comics. Last week, we saw a couple who barely acknowledged each others' presence, but now we meet a relationship that hell itself could not tear apart. Normally, we look to our guru for guidance, but in this episode, we look to Swamp Thing to help our guru. In part two of Common's "Let Love Have the Last Word," we meet a man struggling to understand his connection with his daughter. We believe Alec & Abby have the wisdom to help their bond. Issues covered in this episode: "Saga of the Swamp Thing" #s 28 -34, and "Swamp Thing" Annual #2. Be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Twitter @CBCCPodcast, and you can follow the hosts @MouthDork and @sidewalksiren.

Doctor Alec Holland was once at the top of his game. If the top is working in a secret lab deep in the heart of the swamp with his sister or wife. In this episode we’re talking about the “muck encrusted, mockery of a man” in Wes Craven’s Swamp Thing. We’re joined by Swamp Thing superfan Warner Swopes of NerdMGMT Podcast. A more perfect guest for a Swamp Thing episode couldn’t have been found. Swamp Thing has an odd mix of characters and a surprising bit of charm. Please let us know what you think of Swamp Thing - we’ll share your thoughts in an upcoming episode. As always we thank your for listening to our show. Is he a man turned into muck or muck that thinks it's a man? Alec Holland's life changed forever one fateful night on the Louisiana bayou. Representing half of all living things as an Avatar of the green, and defending ecology as an Earth elemental. He's no beast, he's no monster, he's a thing - he's Swamp Thing!
As the world barrels toward its violent end next Friday, we decided to take our time machine back 30 years to a simpler time. A time when creature makeup and effects were delightfully simpler, a time when movie sidekicks didn’t have to make sense, and a time when you could reasonably expect to see some titties for your 9 dollars and 75 cents. Some movies are good, others are bad, but 1982’s Swamp Thing is pretty neutral. What this fantasy hero lacks in providing a body count, he makes up for in throwing the bad guys around. Joining the monster formerly known as Dr. Alec Holland are a spunky scientist who’s not afraid to show a little side boob, an underage, mentally handicapped entrepreneur and a mutated midget. “How could this NOT turn out to be awesome?”, you’re probably asking. I wish I knew, but somehow Wes Craven failed us. On a brighter note, Corey and I devise a fool-proof plan to get America out of the recession – listen in, and start writing your congressmen NOW! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bmoviebreakdown/support
September 22, 2011 - Scott Snyder is a writer on the rise, but at this point, it’s hard to see how much higher his star can rise. With the release of Batman #1 and Swamp Thing #1 in the new DC Comics lineup, Snyder has seen critical and commercial success, and even managed to make the hardcore fans happy. Teaming with spectacular artists over and over again, like Greg Capullo on Batman, Yannick Paquette on Swamp Thing, Scott’s got a lot to be proud of. We talk in depth about what’s going on with Bruce Wayne and Alec Holland, as well as what’s to come with American Vampire and where Severed came from. As always, Scott is candid and in depth on every question, from his early interactions with Greg Capullo to considerations of fan reactions to the DC changes. Plus, how old is Jim Gordon anyway?
