Hiring questions you should NEVER ask! Ask these questions and you could be exposing your organization to big liabilities. The rules are changing as to what you can ask and what you can't. HR expert Barbara Mitchell agreed to join the AP Now platform to explain some of the new rules. #interviewquestionsnottoask #interview #accountspayable What was a perfectly respectable question just a few short years ago, today is an interview questions not to ask a candidate. And the rules are changing every day. So what was acceptable in your state just a few months ago, today in on the list of interview questions not to ask. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself before asking a question, do I need this information to determine if the person can do the job. If the answer is no or probably not, you might want to consider adding it to the list of interview questions to avoid asking. Bad interview questions are often asked out of ignorance, but that doesn't mean you won't be asked. You might want to plan a little ahead of time about illegal interview questions and how to answer them. One of the biggest issues currently revolves around salary. You might want to plan ahead how to respond to salary questions in an interview so when someone asks inappropriate interview questions, you have an answer and are not left there staring that they even asked. When I first conceived of “The 12 Songs of Christmas,” I imagined singer Alexandra Scott as my co-host. That didn’t happen because she wanted to be a singer more than a co-host, and it wouldn’t have worked because she moved from New Orleans to Virginia, but the first episode of Season Three is a glimpse of what might have been. This week, Alexandra joins me as a guest to talk about one of our favorite semi-modern Christmas songs: “Hard Candy Christmas.” We trace the history of the song from the Broadway soundtrack album for the musical The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas until we reach the much-loved Dolly Parton version, discussing what’s gained and lost in each version, and what Dolly brings to the song. En route to Dolly’s version, we play the version from the film adaptation with audio grabbed from this video since there is no album that includes it. We then move on to two more stellar takes of “Hard Candy Christmas” by British singer Tracey Thorn and the combination of RuPaul, Barbara Mitchell and Michelle Visage. Both are exceptional for very different reasons. Along the way, we talk about nostalgia, musical theater, stardom, and whether or not the song is a Christmas song at all. For more on Alexandra Scott, you hear and buy her music at her Bandcamp page.

It's almost that time of year again... another Dallas Purple Party is upon us. I've put together a little mix in honor of the weekend. Shouts go to Vernessa Mitchell and Michelle Williams, since they are performing. Of course, it just wouldn't be right to have a bunch of Michelle's music without a little Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland in there as well. In fact, Beyoncé's and Kelly's songs both have something in common with the Michelle songs they are next too. I'll let you figure out what that is... ha. :-) Also (this is strictly coincidental), there is something for you Glee fans... a little old-school Madonna, albeit a remake & mashup. Love how she used this mashup on her tour a few years ago and glad they finally came out with a real version. I always like my mixes to have a conclusion... a lot of times it's a song that makes you go, "Awwww." To review new music, I have a playlist I pile on a bunch of new tracks to listen to at the gym. The closing song caught me completely off-guard a few weeks ago while I was working out and I immediately knew it had to be the end of this mix. I just think it's sweet and uplifting. The Sun and Moon mixes are already in progress and will be forthcoming in a few weeks.
