Zohaib is a 7th generation sarangi maestro and one of only 5 professional sarangi players left in Pakistan practicing this ancient art form. Today he talks about his family legacy, the dying art form of playing and his grandfather, Ustad Hussain Bakhsh Amritsari. This is an excerpt from a patrons-only episode. To become a patron, visit Patreon.com/LoveMessagePod In this patrons-only bonus episode, Jeremy and Tim have a conversation about what music has been on their turntables recently. True to form, Jeremy brings psychedelic jazz and ambient selections both modern and classic. The legacy of Alice Coltrane is discussed around two excellent releases from the Spiritmuse label alongside some beguiling flute playing from Tenderlonious. Tim asks: where have all the live dance bands gone? Answering his own question, he brings a number of high quality Afrobeat cuts from Tokyo to Zurich. The guys discuss the role of live musicianship in a computer age, why were we all getting into cumbia, and close on an end-of-the-night Bobby Womack classic. This is part of a rough series of more conversational, unplanned episodes reflecting on what's been on our record players recently and what we've been up to that we'll be releasing to patrons to say thank you for your support. Vincent Caffiaux. Chaîne youtube. ► Nouvel album Forward Thinker (Acid Jazz/Pias 2022). Line Up : Joe Nichols (Keyboards), Charlotte de Graaf (Lead Vocals), Alex Palmer (Drums), Honza Kourimsky (Guitar), Euan Allardice (Trumpet), Mischa Stevens (Bass) et Michael Butcher (Saxophone). Son : Fabien Mugneret, Mathias Taylor, Quentin Dubois.

Possibly, more than any other instrument, the saxophone defines the sound of jazz. Most jazz combos have at least one sax player on the front—and when you see that saxophone, you know it’s going to be doing a LOT of soloing, even if the bandleader or composer plays another instrument. But what happens to the shape and texture of jazz when you subtract the sax from the equation? We’ll find out in this episode of Mondo Jazz, featuring Jaimie Branch, Allison Miller, Erik Friedlander, John Zorn, Marvin Pontiac, Tenderlonious, Jeremy Steig, Clark Gayton, John Scofield, Tronzo Trio, Michael Rossetto, Bill Frisell, Jenny Scheinman, Makaya McCraven. Rob and Callum are back with new music, new drawn-out banter and a new selection of voice artist auditions. Some excllent songcraft from Andy Ketch and Andrew Ketcher who makes some swinging good indie pop (them Andys, huh?), Discus brings that straight up indie slack, Emma Rassack & Lachlan bring an alt. country shuffle... Over that 10 year period, Illa has dropped his sophomore album, Illa J, Sunset Blvd. with Frank as Yancey Boys and his 3rd solo installment, Home produced by Calvin Valentine.
Kicking the mix off with afro/jazz vibes courtesy of The KutiMangoes and Takuya Kuroda, plus a brand new one from broken beat/nu jazz royalty, Kaidi Kat. There's a hot stepper from Nomumbah on Yoruba and some boogie fire from Amp Fiddler's new album, Motor City Booty. Tenderlonious is back with some flute laced funk on 22a and fellow Peckham music maker, Henry Wu joins Cologne's Tito Wun on a trademark, South London groove. There's a BRUK Jay Daniel riddim, an amazing cut from iZem's debut on Soundway, and we've got the hip-hop heads covered with new ATCQ, Australia's own, Remi and a neck snapper from Common's latest album, Black America Again. LA's Josef Leimberg and Terrace Martin join forces on a bad-ass Miles Davis cover, Erykah Badu's band, RC & the Gritz come with the stank groove and there's more jazz niceness from Azymuth, Relaén, Uyama Hiroto and Yussef Kamaal Trio. The tempo picks up again for the last leg with house flavas from Paradise Forum, Alton Miller, Patrice Scott, Dan Kye aka Jordan Rakei, Jullian Gomes, Kevin Reynolds and Just One. Enjoy!
Your denim clad lover boys Rob and Callum are back with a new music podcast, the first to be released on Monday our new ITHB Day. We kick the new regime off with a fist pumper of a rocknroll tune from Delicate Steve; the sort of shit you want to drive 16bit spacecars to, there’s exotic 60s pop from Marker Starling, sexy seductive frenchness from Gontard!, 80s synth swing from Roses, modern jazz from Tenderlonious, glam rock stomping from Cozy and other ace things. Monday is the new Day.

This weeks show/podcast is somewhat eclectic, it starts off with some Hip Hop from J Dilla x Frank n Dank, Madlib, DOOM, Jadakiss, Jeen Bassa, Ben Jamin and then we get into some more R & B type stuff with Modlee's 'Treat Me Like Fire'. We then move into some more experimental, electronic type music, with tracks from DAILON, Maximoe, Deflon, ManOfTheDown, Mr. Mockwell, xtrngr, Spacedtime, Infinite Quazar, fLako, Tenderlonious and we finish off with some new Flamingosis, enjoy.
