QUESTION What has been your experience with this, either as one who was baited or the one setting the bait? Point #2: “Oh, I Just Do Hair” Many artists come to BMS because they’re sick and tired of being looked at like a fucking joke, a common problem in the hair industry. If you want to be taken seriously, though, you have to take yourself seriously. That comes through constant practice and proper education. QUESTION What can you do to improve the way you view yourself? Point #3: Tracking the Right Numbers When it comes to marketing and social media, you might have a huge following, but what are your actual numbers when it comes to income? Ani: I had less than 1500 followers and was making $20k per month. Anything can be done with proper marketing and advertising. QUESTION Are you running the same shit show and just gaining popularity without filling up your bank account? Point #4: Stay In Integrity Whatever service or product you’re offering, you must stay in integrity. Danielle: Sadly, we’re at that point where people will say anything to get people in the door.  QUESTION What are you doing & saying to get people in the door and in your chair? Point #5: Consistency Danielle & Ani hold the vision of the brand going international, and with that, the integrity of the brand must remain intact. Because NBR is a very specific niche inside of the hair extension world, they are currently creating a manual with very specific verbiage and how-to’s for their trainers, thus assuring consistency within the brand internationally. QUESTION Where inside your world as an artist would consistency benefit you or your salon? This attracts more haters and sparks even more negative conversations and energy. Danielle believes that “people who troll don’t give themselves permission to have success in life. They get stuck in their stories and patterns and don’t realize this puts a cap on what they can make and what they can do, literally preventing them from breaking through that threshold.” Where in your world do you know that you are the one creating negative energy?   Point #2: Rebuild & Move Forward Ani: “Everyone goes through shit in life. Some shit will break you, and then you rebuild yourself. Some stuff dings you, while other things crack you. It’s a matter of rebuilding yourself and moving forward.” “But some people are so stuck in the story of being a victim that they’re not even willing to go outside of it and see what’s on the other side because it’s all they know. They only know how to be mean and nasty; they only know how to spread vile and shit everywhere.” Where in your world have you made a comeback and re-built your life?     Point #3: Take a Stand The more you take a stand on anything, the more kick-back you’re going to receive. If you don’t have the guts to put yourself out there, how do you expect to make it further in life and in business? Danielle: “We teach our students to put out their content and then “put your blinders on.” Learn to take a stand, and then be prepared for the punches that roll in.” Where in your life or inside your business do you know it’s time to take a stand, come what may? Point #4: Are You the Train Wreck? Ani: “Do you see yourself as a train wreck? Everywhere you post, are you just talking shit on other people and bringing out the negativity? You don’t have to be “Positive Polly” but you can say, “Today was a shitty day, and here’s what I did to turn it around.” Or, “Here’s how I felt. Has anyone ever felt like this?” “At this point, I’m pretty much an open book and have nothing to hide. I’m not embarrassed about any decision I have ever made or anything I’ve ever said, nor am I embarrassed about where I am in my life right now. I LOVE my life both professionally and personally, and am grateful for everything in it.” Are you the train wreck that people just can’t stop watching? Point #5:  Being OK With Letting Go Having been raised inside the strict bubble of Mormonism, Danielle and Garrett began questioning everything they believed. Danielle felt like she was shrinking from the voices all around her telling her what to do, and in that space, there came a point where they had to be ok with letting go of certain relationships for a time. “From my own experience, I know if you have tunnel vision, even with your family and friends, and you just focus on you and do what you know you need to do, you WILL see results. In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..Power Point #1: Work Less, Make More Danielle always pictured NBR as a tool to double and triple an artist’s income because she was able to do that herself working three days a week behind the chair, while also being a wife and mom. Her pitch? “Hey, enjoy life! And make great money doing it!” Artists often send screenshots of their earnings to Ani, showing comparisons of last yeas with income with their current income. The numbers are impressive! Recent messages have shown that artists inside of DKW Academy are doubling and tripling their income. One artist even quintupled her income! QUESTION What story do YOUR screenshots tell?   Point #2: Where Were You Last Year? Danielle: When I look back at how far we’ve come in a year, I feel more focused and clear. I feel stronger than ever knowing that what we’re doing matters, and also have a clear vision and path for what I want to do. If you can’t look at where you were, you don’t know where you’re going to go. Student-wise, there was a little bit of chaos last year with shit flying everywhere. “Fast forward to today, and 100% of our Mastermind students are going to be in the DKW Academy, “remarks Ani. “That tells me this is working!” QUESTION Where were you last year at this time?     Point #3: Certification DKW Academy no longer certifies artists for life like they used to. In the hair industry, many states do not require continuing education. You pay the fee, and you’re good to go, year after year, even if you haven’t spent much time doing hair. Even if you live in a state that requires continuing education hours, it doesn’t mean you’re getting top-notch, hands-on training. You can pretty much pay the fee, show up for some classes, and call it good, even if you’re fucking around on Instagram the entire time. QUESTION Do you go all in on life or do you tend to “fuck around on Instagram?”   Point #4: Trust the Process Dannielle: I see a lot of people focusing on and worrying about things that they shouldn’t be worrying about right now. They’re just not there yet. Why do you think ten steps ahead?” “Guess what. The person you’re going to be ten steps ahead is not even going to give a shit about the problems you currently face. Those problems are going to seem SO minute! Problems you thought were big won’t even be on your radar. You need to trust the process and trust your gut.” QUESTION Where is your focus?   Point #5:  Turning Points Ani: We are coming to the end of a decade. Ten years ago, I was a newly licensed nineteen-year-old baby. Danielle: I was a mom of one and doing hair extensions one day a week, making the same amount of money that my sister was making working three days a week. It was about that time I began taking it more seriously. Ani: 3 1/2 years ago, in 2016, I started doing BMS. I was 26 and still working two jobs seven days a week. I had been doing NBR for about a year. Nine months later, I hit $15k a month. About five months into BMS, I realized I didn’t need to be working two jobs anymore. QUESTION What were you doing ten years ago?   Quote of the Week: “If you can look back month-by-month or even week-by-week and figure out how to course-correct, that’s how you get HUGE results in your business. As you get comfortable with yourself, you own EVERY side of yourself, including the crazy, but you learn how to manifest the crazy in a productive way. Garrett: Most people cannot accept that there are literally two sides to them. I spent most of my life putting who I was, away – my desires, the anger, the rage, the fire, the questions, and the sexual desire. QUESTION What part of you are you hiding in a box? Point #2: Super Power Danielle: I can’t operate as Susan all of the time, so it’s literally learning how to cohesively live together with your multiple personalities. It’s learning how to be cool with yourself and tapping into this dark, crazy side of you, looking at it as your Superpower. For example, I gotta handle some shit in business, so Dark Susan’s coming out. When it’s time to be a wife and a lover, Danielle comes out. Garrett: Relationship is the ability for a person to be able to be ALL of themselves in that relationship. My mission for myself and for Danielle was to be able to figure out how to be ALL of ourselves. There’s Dark Susan sex, and there’s Danielle sex – totally different sex, both are amazing. As we become more adaptable to ourselves, I think our relationship blows up in a big, beautiful way. QUESTION How do you handle ALL of you? How do you use the different parts of you to your advantage? Point #3: Critical Bitch Garrett: Danielle has an aspect to her that I deeply love now but that I hated and loathed for most of our marriage, until the last four to five years. This side is what I considered to be Critical Bitch. Whatever was going on, there was always this chipping away, and for most of our relationship I thought, “Fucking crazy woman.” Anything to do with Danielle’s dark side was viewed as wrong, broken, over-thinking. What I had viewed as critical, all of a sudden became powerful. She had the ability to see things clearly amidst the chaos, and not be sucked in by emotion. QUESTION What have you previously viewed as wrong or broken in your spouse, but now view as powerful? Point #4: Embrace the Dark AND the Light Garrett: When you start accepting that this is true inside of you – the Diabolical AND the Divine – when you come to terms with and embrace and love both sides of you, you start to love and appreciate humanity and people around you at a level you never could before because you’re not fucking hiding anymore. Inside Wake Up Warrior and Big Money Stylist, we lead individuals on this path that accepts the true power of who you are on both extremes: in the Dark AND in the Light, in the Night AND in the Light, so they can ultimately gain the purest sight of being able to see truth. QUESTION What part of you are you suppressing and not embracing? Point #5: Submission vs Sedation Danielle:  How do I get to the end result I’m looking for in a particular situation? What are the steps required? It always requires submission at some level. Ultimately, I’m happier and get what I want. That overall feeling is better than retreating and closing down. Sedation can be a sneaky little bastard, and it can come in many forms. Garrett: Most couples don’t want to submit, so they sedate. They go to whatever they need to in order to avoid having to collide: they eat, drink, pop pills, ignore, delve into fitness. People go to religion to justify the shitty relationship they’re in; that somehow it will be magical when they die. QUESTION Where inside of your relationship are you sedating to avoid collision? Communication Challenge: How has your upbringing affected your ability to embrace both the Darkness and the Light within you? Date Night Topic: Have a conversation about your particular Crazy. What is the name of your Dark side? Quote of the Week: “Individually, if you do not come to terms with the fact that you have a brilliant side that is filled with light, and that you have a brilliant side that is filled with Night, that your Crazy offsets your Creator, and that your Creator cannot exist without your Crazy; until you can come to terms with yourself on this, you will never find harmony long-term in a relationship with any other person, specifically with your wife.” –Garrett J White “I think people sedate their blessing. They think their blessing is their curse, so they sedate the thing that can actually give them power. What if you looked at these things as a blessing and not a curse? What if you used these to learn how to navigate through life instead of sedating what God gave you as ‘different?’ What if you learned how to use it to your benefit?” –Danielle K White

It’s imperative as hairdressers to take care of ourselves precisely because we are on our feet all day long. As we practice self-care, we not only feel better, but we also deliver better results to our clients. QUESTION What small, sustainable action are you committed to begin implementing today that will lead to a healthier you in 2019? Point #2: Arm Yourself With the Facts Danielle and Ani have seen many students in their program know what they need to do that would lead them to the success they are desiring, but end up cheering others from the sidelines instead of stepping into the game themselves. Getting down to the facts and nitty-gritty details takes artists out of the overwhelm mode and puts everything into perspective. Doing this is difficult for many artists because they don’t want to see where they really are. QUESTION What are the facts telling you? What are you going to do about it? Point #3: Progress or Regress You can be in a good place in your life and know there’s another level; there’s always another level. You don’t have to be unhappy where you are in order for you to want to achieve more. Sometimes you will go into maintenance mode, but if you’re not progressing, you’re regressing. It’s not like you have to take huge leaps and bounds every single day, just do the tiny little things that will consistently move you forward. QUESTION Where inside your world are things going well? What would the next level look like for you? Point #4: I Don’t Have Time You have to be willing to make a change at some point and not be so stubborn. At the end of the day, it all comes down to prioritizing. You get to create whatever you want. Oftentimes, it’s a matter of looking at your life through a different lens and being willing to invest the time into the things you say you want. QUESTION What are you telling yourself you don’t have time for? Point #5: Reps Lead to Success When you start anything that is new to you, you’re going to feel uncomfortable in the beginning. Think back to how you felt when you first started doing hair, or when you recorded your first video for marketing. When you see where you are today in any area of your life, you realize that the more you do something, the better you become and the more you like what you’re doing. It’s a natural progression. QUESTION What area of your business are you currently experiencing discomfort? ACTION STEPS HEADING INTO 2019 “Don’t be afraid to go outside your comfort zone. Dream Big! Do you waste time on social media and then complain you don’t have time to do the things that would actually move you forward in your business? Do you ever feel like you’re on a never-ending hamster wheel, always moving but going nowhere? Danielle and Ani take on these topics in this week’s episode of the Big Money Stylist.  In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PRODUCTION Point #1: I’m Too Busy With artists working behind the chair, there are simple marketing tactics they get to work on that are designed to increase their momentum and ultimately their business. One of them is called the Daily Four, which many complain they don’t have time to do. However, artists often fill their days with shit that doesn’t fucking matter. They’ll sit on Instagram for thirty minutes, scroll endlessly, and then do some shopping. “You could have been doing something that will make you money instead of just taking up your time.” QUESTION When you say you don’t have time for marketing or self-improvement, how are you really spending your time? Point #2: False Loop Sometimes in life, you’re moving so fast that the idea of trying to fit one more thing inside your life seems completely unfathomable. You feel like you’re almost sinking and can barely maintain what you already have on your plate. Danielle: A lot of times, we’ll be busy running on this hamster wheel, and it’s almost like we self-sabotage because we want to feel like we’re growing and learning, when in fact, we’re not even progressing. That is when we experience the false lift or false loop. QUESTION Where in your world are you experiencing this false loop? Point #3: You’re Not Quite There Yet Some artists are worried about things that are ten steps ahead of them. “Why are you worried about firing your fucking assistant if you don’t even have one?” This can actually hold you back in life and in business. Instead, concentrate on where you are right now and then take one step at a time. Example: start doing Daily Four, begin taking before/after photos, or start going live. QUESTION What is one thing you can begin implementing today rather than worrying about what’s ten steps ahead of you? Point #4: Awareness Awareness is so important, but it is not something that comes easily. It takes having the courage to be really honest with yourself. “I’m a very emotional person, but I’m not sensitive,” offers Ani. “And inside of that, I feel like I am a very self-aware person. I can take myself out of my feelings, take a step back, and take a look from the outside and ask myself, “If you weren’t emotionally attached to this, would you be upset?” QUESTION How is being self-aware a game-changer for you?   Point #5:  Zero Fucks Given Danielle: Garrett tells me that my superpower is Zero Fucks Given, and asks how I do that? I HAVE to do that. I’ve gotten to a place in business where what another person says doesn’t impact me. Ani is the same way. “I can take emotion out of something, put it in a little box, and logically ask, what’s happening right now?” It’s imperative to take the raw emotion out of something to be able to solve problems; otherwise, things tend to spiral out of control. QUESTION What is your superpower?   Quote of the Week:  “It’s almost like we have our blinders on when we look at our art because art is so personal. But if you can learn to look at yourself constructively, that will help you progress and become a better artist.” –Danielle K White “I don’t aspire to be busy. Point #2: Mindset There are some artists who just want to learn the NBR method without delving into the business aspect or the ever-important mindset. Danielle used to be the same way, having an attitude of, “I just want to do hair and have a margarita.” These days, she and Ani are life coaches inside their educational programs and know what a vital role mindset plays in an artist’s life.  QUESTION What do you do on a regular basis to work on and improve your mindset? Point #3: DKW Styling Academy One of the exciting announcements of 2020 is the launch of the DKW Styling Academy where artists can expect more structure and where they will learn and work at their own pace and abilities, while at the same time progress to the next phase. Danielle: With the way the academy is structured, I feel like we’re setting people up to win. Before it was like we had a bucket of content, and people tended to get overwhelmed. Even with the weekly trainings where we’re pouring our hearts out and adding a ton of value, if you’re not ready to hear what we're telling you, you’ll get overwhelmed, and you won’t be able to apply it. QUESTION What are you most looking forward to about the DKW Styling Academy? Point #4: Your Legacy Ani: At the end of the day, if Danielle and I do our job and what we’re so passionate about – and if we do it correctly – the students aren’t here forever. Our goal is to have them so confident in the art and have their business so structured & strong that it can actually work without them. That’s what creates a legacy. You’re going to get a ton of training about all things NBR, about life, and also about the technical aspect which is a HUGE part of the business, especially in today’s over-saturated market. QUESTION Are you willing to invest in yourself to create a legacy? Point #5: Get In Alignment Danielle: We’re always so worried and concerned about what other people think about us. The reality is, nobody really cares about you. They’re really more interested in themselves. So… get out of your own way. I always tell people to have tunnel vision, know your goals, and align yourself with people that have the same values as you do. And when those values don’t align, don’t be afraid to find yourself a new group or a new tribe that will align with you in the direction you want to go, and with what your values are. QUESTION What is the current state of your alignment? Point #2: Split in Two Many women who out-produce their husbands are in this space of: How do I deal with my husband who is not being the man? I’m dominating him in business and trying to decide if I should get a divorce. Garrett: When a man allows his wife to split the bills, it splits his power and creates a bit of submission in a weird way. Men, at the primal level, must be okay with the stewardship and responsibility of “I must pay the bills independent of my wife.” QUESTION How do you as a couple feel about this? Point #3: Wake-Up Call At one point in their marriage, Danielle hid how much money she was making. She split up her bank accounts to create a safety net for herself because she wasn’t sure if their marriage was going to work out. When she got triggered about something, she revealed to Garrett that she had made $30k the previous month which served as a wake-up call in the form of a big two by four straight into his balls. QUESTION Ladies, why do you hide your money from your husband? Point #4: Show Me the Money, Honey There’s an artist inside Danielle’s Big Money Stylist network who is outproducing her husband in a massive way. “I love my husband and I want to be more sexual, but I’m just not attracted to him.” Garrett: This is a sticky situation, and there’s not a simple one-cut solution. When Danielle was making more money, her tolerance of behavior by me went down, and her desire to connect with me sexually also went down. QUESTION How is this dynamic affecting your marriage? Point #5: Friday Night Fights A recent fight between Danielle and Garrett would have been the end of their marriage a few years ago. But this time it compelled them and opened them up. Danielle: When your foundation is rocky and an explosion happens, it’s hard to build that back up. Now, we can have a fight and come back and talk about it because our foundation is more solid. QUESTION What condition is the foundation of your marriage in? Communication Challenge: Gentlemen, I want you to have a conversation with your wife about the dynamics of money. What is the connection to the attraction for you and the money you’re making or the lack of money you’re making? If you’re a man and not paying the bills, have that conversation with your wife and just see where it takes you. In This Week’s Episode…..POWER In this brand new episode of the Big Money Stylist, Danielle and Ani take a look at how women justify their ambitions, the ways we tend to feel guilt and pressure, and how filling our plates to overload is a common occurrence among the feminine gender…and what we can do about it. Point #1: Ladyballs It takes some serious “lady balls” to course-correct and recognize when it’s time to make changes…and then actually implement those changes. Otherwise, your business starts falling apart. In business, however, it seems that if women are passionate, they are labeled a bitch – either in their own minds or by others who will actually refer to them as a raging bitch. QUESTION Where in your world are you labeled a bitch? Who’s doing the labeling? Point #2: Where Are You Feeling Pressure Or Guilt? Oftentimes, moms experience “mommy guilt” and feel as though they have to choose between work and family.  But Danielle feels that working has actually made her a better mother. Ani is five months away from 30, unmarried & doesn’t have children and faces a different kind of pressure. “If I keep investing in my work and business and grow that way, am I going to look back when I’m 35 and be like OMG I’m alone, I’m fucking going to die alone, and I can’t have kids!?” QUESTION Where do you tend to feel guilt or pressure in your world? Point #3: What Are You Sacrificing? With Ani being single with no children, she’s often the first to give up her personal & vacation time. She rationalizes, “It’s ok because so and so has kids and her time is obviously way more valuable, so I’ll just work a little bit more, I’ll put a little bit more on my plate… ”  “I’m so willing to sacrifice all of my time and the things that keep me sane as a human being because there’s no one, really, except for *me*  counting on me.” QUESTION What are you sacrificing? What are the reasons you’re telling yourself that “justify” that sacrifice? Point #4: Creating Space For You There are times when Danielle feels like she has to “do it all” and is always that person whose plate is too full. As women, many of us feel like we need to take on more and more and more. “Life forces us into situations that we need to see AND where we need to be. If you ignore those signs, you keep running into the same damn challenges.” QUESTION What message is life currently trying to tell you? Point #5: Energy Suckers Ani: I’m a very powerful woman, and I’m certain in the things I do. And because of that, I can be looked at as bitch. Why is it that I should have to minimize myself to then produce and go forward? I feel like I’m not looking for collision, but I don’t mind having a face-to-face forward conversation because, to me, I just don’t want that to be an open energy suck.” QUESTION Where in your world are the lack of direct conversations sucking your energy? Shit’s a lot harder than you think. There were so many times I wanted to quit but didn’t. And in the not quitting, I have become a better educator, a better person, a better mom. QUESTION What have you learned about yourself by not quitting? Point #2: Continuing Education Continuing education is key inside of the hair industry, both for the student AND the teacher. Danielle and Ani agree the more they teach, the more they learn how to become better educators. Ani: By scaling down inside of BMS we’re really pouring into the 250 students we have. Each week we have a small group of 15 students where the attention to detail is making a huge difference in their work. QUESTION Where in your world do you know you need to level up? What steps are you taking do to so? Point #3: Do the Work What has frustrated Ani for so long is when people look at her life and her job and only the fun aspects of it – the podcasts, being on stage, teaching, hanging out with Danielle – and want to experience ALL of that but are unwilling to do the work required. Ani: “In reality, that is a minuscule amount of what I actually do. Everything else I do doesn’t look fun. It’s a lot of work. It’s a lot of late nights, a lot of early mornings. You’re telling me you want to step into the company, get paid as a trainer underneath the umbrella of DKW, NBR, and BMS…but you don’t want to do any work for it?” QUESTION Where in your world are you unwilling to do the work required? Point #4: Know Your Numbers Ani: By the time artists attend BMS, many are nearly through with the industry. They’re working tons of hours and making next to nothing a lot of times. Danielle: If they actually looked at their numbers based off on the number of hours they’re working, even if they’re super successful, a lot of them want to break down and cry. Danielle: When I first started out, I was doing my numbers but they were very vague and were based on the deposits in my bank account. What I’ve learned is the power lies in the ability to look at your numbers and know how to adjust and problem solve so you’re constantly moving forward, otherwise, you’re regressing. QUESTION When is the last time you looked closely at your numbers? Point #5: Create Space to Breathe Danielle: When you own your own boutique, it’s not just the physical hours spent doing the art; there’s SO much more that goes into it. And without a full team supporting you, it’s so easy to run yourself into the ground. Ani: Once you start getting to overwhelm, it leads to exhaustion and irritability. EVERYTHING in your life is affected and you find you don’t have time to breathe. You NEED space to breathe. It’s vital for your sanity. QUESTION Where are you missing out on opportunities because you’re feeling overwhelmed and can’t see the clear picture of where you currently are in your business? Quote of the Week: “Don’t call yourself an educator and an expert inside of education if you don’t have reps educating. If you’re a client, do your research! Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..Power Point #1: Choose In Ani is beyond excited for the changes taking place inside of BMS and has been conducting back-to-back interviews for those applying to the newly revamped Mastermind program. “It’s so cool to see how proud they are after all of their hard work, dedication, and everything they have accomplished. It wasn’t a matter of them paying a fee and showing up; they earned their place in Mastermind.” QUESTION What have you worked really hard to accomplish? How does it make you feel? Point #2: State of Overwhelm Danielle believes that when you’re in a place of feeling burned out or stagnant, one of two things usually needs to happen: either decrease business or increase business. “Both places can be really scary to be in. A lot of times, people a) don’t know where to start or b) they start brain scheming this far out path that overwhelms them. QUESTION What are some choices you can make today to begin moving forward? Point #3: The Power of “B” Danielle: If you don’t know the things you need to change, then going over the facts is one thing you can do. Every time you do that, you discover things that you can improve upon. Start there and then just keep taking the next step. “The power is in the“B” because that means you started. When you start something and are consistent with it, you never know where it can actually take you.” QUESTION Where in your world do you know you need to take that “next step” but have been putting it off? Point #4: Be Willing to Fail Ani has always been one to accept a challenge from Garrett and Danielle. From the very beginning, she has jumped in, no matter what, and recalls a moment when she failed miserably but learned a huge lesson. The ladies both agree that anything you do that you haven’t done before, you’re going to suck at it. The fact that you’re actually doing it says a lot about you. QUESTION What is one lesson you have learned because you were willing to fail? Point #5: Focus on the Basics Danielle: You can’t be given a big break when you’re not ready. You don’t get there overnight; you have to become that person and that character. Everybody wants these big breaks but you really just need to simmer down and focus on the basics first. If you can’t consistently do the small things, you can’t expect to do the big things. QUESTION Where in your world is it time to return to the basics? For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..POWER Point #1: # The Naive Asshole During a recent training inside the BMS network, an artist revealed she was the product of a salon walk-out. Now that she is trying to start her own business, she realizes how much of an asshole she has been. Danielle was once that ‘naive asshole’ who didn’t show respect for those who had blazed the trail before her. QUESTION How are you currently being a “naive asshole?” Point #2: It Takes Mad Skills While many think they have what it takes to be successful in business, frequently they lack many of the skills necessary to actually do the job that would make them successful. Many assume they are to going to walk right in and ‘own the world.’ But it’s never as easy as you think it will be…ever. QUESTION In what area do you know it’s time to increase your skill level? Point #3: Risk Takers When it comes to owning and running a business, employees tend not to put themselves in the owner’s shoes and are so quick to judge, not realizing there are a lot of hard decisions business owners must make. At the end of the day, the final say-so will forever fall on the shoulders of the business owners, who are also the ones taking ALL of the risks. QUESTION Are you prepared to take on ALL of the risk inside your next business decision? Point #4: Change the Frame Many people equate change with betrayal, no matter how hard you nail it in that a business has to be successful, and that change is sometimes necessary for that success to happen. If something is not working, putting blinders on is not going to get the job done. A new frame must be established, and those who want to remain in the old frame and are unwilling to move forward with the new one, must be let go. QUESTION What new frame must you step into in order for you to move forward and progress? Point #5: Letting Go of the Noise Ani’s experiences over the past few months had thrown her into a state of chaos. She took a step back and found that it was necessary to drown out the opinions and voices of those who were influencing her in order for her to hear her own voice. Ani: Is that the person I’m going to be, that the minute it gets hard I give in? I give up? We’re all a little bit insane which is why we’re changing this industry. Inside of that, I know I am not done here. QUESTION Where in your world is it time to separate yourself from the influencing voices of others? Krystal Coit, manager and backbone of DKW, is Ani’s guest co-host in this week’s episode of the Big Money Stylist. In this episode, the ladies have a conversation around the hiring and firing process, tips regarding communication with your employees, and how to handle emotions inside the workplace. In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..Production Point #1: Systems & Processes Before Krystal moved into her current position as manager of DKW, she was at her former salon for fourteen years. She came into the world of DKW in the midst of a massive transitional period inside the salon approximately eight months ago (at the time of recording this episode). In conversations with Danielle, Krystal knew that the salon needed to implement some systems and processes, but what surprised her the most, and what has been the biggest challenge has been everybody’s personalities & emotions. “I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t people’s emotions.” QUESTION What processes and systems do you have in place to keep emotions from running wild inside your salon or business? Point #2: Emotion & Logic Ani feels she and Krystal are very similar when it comes to emotions and logic. “I feel like we’re not emotionless and at the same time realize that we are very fact-driven and very logical.” Ani used to think that the older one gets, the more one is able to compartmentalize and separate personal and business life…but that is not the case. As it turns out, age nor gender matter when it comes to feelings and emotions. Ani goes on to explain that one of the hardest things is when you have two people inside the same company/building who are dating. A lover’s quarrel brought to the workplace can create chaos and shit storms that affect everybody and everything around them. QUESTION What has been your experience with emotions gone wild inside of the workplace? Point #3: DKW's Hiring Process DKW is unique in how they approach the interview process, which involves at least3-4 parts. Rather than soliciting resumes, they request interested parties to submit a video about themselves which is followed up by a phone conversation with Krystal, and eventually, a conversation with Danielle. A video allows the team to get a taste of an applicant’s personality. They also get to see how they communicate and see if they are able to follow directions. If you’re in any kind of service industry, Ani feels it’s almost dangerous and risky to invite people in for an interview based solely on a resume. QUESTION What questions would you want an applicant to answer in a video they submit to you? Point #4: Are You a Good Fit? Ani: The worst possible thing you could ever do is hire out of desperation. When you do that, you’re going to hate them from the get-go, or when they show up, they’re not going to be what you wanted. The result is frustration all around, which leads to a shit storm. Krystal explains how in a salon, appointments sometimes run longer, especially at DKW where standards are high. And if something needs to be corrected, it’s going to happen – even if it means having the appointment run longer. A multi-step interview process allows you to get a feel for someone’s personality to see if they’re a good fit (or not) when situations like this arise. QUESTION As a result of this conversation, what changes are you going to make in your hiring process? Point #5:  Letting Someone Go As a business owner, there’s going to come a time when you’re going to have to let people go. For Krystal, “I have to work past my own emotion with it, especially if I have worked with someone for any period of time and have gotten close to them. At the end of the day, firing someone is a business decision, and I can’t let my emotions get involved with that.” Leading up to that process, there needs to be some follow-through on your part. It’s really important to be in communication with your staff with weekly check-ins. This helps you keep a pulse on where they are and if they have any concerns or issues, and it also creates a natural opening for two-way communication. Krystal also emphazises that documenting conversations is crucial – for all parties. QUESTION Are you being held hostage by someone inside of our business? If you are, what steps can you actually take to rectify that situation? Quote of the Week: “If it’s no longer working for you and it’s going to impede the growth of your company, letting go doesn’t have to be some big dramatic thing. Don’t think of it as a collision or an argument; it’s just a conversation. And sometimes it’s the conversation of hey, this doesn’t work anymore.” -Anianne Rivera “My advice? Go with your gut instinct when hiring. Make sure you have a process where you can see this person’s personality. QUESTION What has been your experience with this, either as one who was baited or the one setting the bait? Point #2: “Oh, I Just Do Hair” Many artists come to BMS because they’re sick and tired of being looked at like a fucking joke, a common problem in the hair industry. If you want to be taken seriously, though, you have to take yourself seriously. That comes through constant practice and proper education. QUESTION What can you do to improve the way you view yourself? Point #3: Tracking the Right Numbers When it comes to marketing and social media, you might have a huge following, but what are your actual numbers when it comes to income? Ani: I had less than 1500 followers and was making $20k per month. Anything can be done with proper marketing and advertising. QUESTION Are you running the same shit show and just gaining popularity without filling up your bank account? Point #4: Stay In Integrity Whatever service or product you’re offering, you must stay in integrity. Danielle: Sadly, we’re at that point where people will say anything to get people in the door.  QUESTION What are you doing & saying to get people in the door and in your chair? Point #5: Consistency Danielle & Ani hold the vision of the brand going international, and with that, the integrity of the brand must remain intact. Because NBR is a very specific niche inside of the hair extension world, they are currently creating a manual with very specific verbiage and how-to’s for their trainers, thus assuring consistency within the brand internationally. QUESTION Where inside your world as an artist would consistency benefit you or your salon? The belief you have about yourself has an impact on your ability to produce. When I began my career in a small, rural town in Arizona, I believed there was a cap on my earning potential until I had one of those light bulb moments that created a shift within me. When I gained my power and realized the power of marketing, my business began to explode. Ani: Most stylists are stuck in the box of what they believe they can and can’t charge based on where they live and what everyone else is charging. It just takes one person finding their power and saying, “Fuck these rules, I’m not doing this! I’m going to make it up as I go because it doesn’t matter!” that leads the way for others to do the same. QUESTION Do you currently have limiting beliefs surrounding your income limitations or capabilities? What are they? Point #2: It’s an Inside Job Everything begins with a shift and story inside of you which oft times won’t happen until you’re mirrored back a new reality by individuals around you who show you what could be possible. Ani’s inspiring ‘sink-or-swim-no-means-yes’ BMS journey and how she chose to make massive moves in her business is an example of making moves that first begin inside your head. One by one, she began letting go of the stories that were telling her, “You’re supposed to take on all clients and offer all services…you’re supposed to do everything!” QUESTION Who do you believe yourself to be? Who must you become in order to be, do, and have what you want? Point #3: The Toleration Game Your life and your business are a result of what you choose to tolerate. There’s a toleration game within stylists that paints the reality of how they treat themselves, what they have determined is the ‘right’ thing to do, what they have decided is the accepted modus operandi, and what is ‘artistically correct.’ So many stylists get stuck in the sacrifice game in the name of making money. Your power is obtained by what you’re committed to and drained from what you tolerate. Your life cannot become more than you tolerate. QUESTION What are some ways you are stuck in the Sacrifice Game by playing the Toleration Game? Point #4: Reversing the Frame The entire industry has been built to teach stylists to go to this place of powerlessness. The highest form of dysfunction inside the game of being an artist is where you don’t listen to your own voice anymore; where the client begins dictating your direction. Ani used to be at the beck and call of her clients until she reversed the frame and began seeing herself as the prize. She took control of who she allowed to sit in her chair by setting up an in-depth application process, which garnered greater respect from her clients as well as assisted in creating a thriving business environment on her terms. The empowerment she felt and experienced in her business bled into all aspects of her personal life. QUESTION Where in your business will reversing the frame change the game for you? Point #5: Create a Life That Actually Matters to You There are things you are tolerating that need to become intolerable to you. At the top of Ani’s list of intolerable’s: 1-tardiness and 2- being on call for your clients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. What are the results in finding your own power and letting go of bullshit? Turnarounds, breakthroughs, explosive business success, and peace & calm in your life. Create a game and creation inside your artistic place that not only pays you what you’re worth but lets you enjoy your life outside of what you do in the business. QUESTION What are the top five things (behaviors, obstacles) you are tolerating inside your business, both in front of and behind your chair, that if you no longer tolerated, would cause your business to completely explode? This attracts more haters and sparks even more negative conversation and energy. Danielle believes that “people who troll don’t give themselves permission to have success in life. They get stuck in their stories and patterns and don’t realize this puts a cap on what they can make and what they can do, literally preventing them from breaking through that threshold.” QUESTION Where in your world do you know that you are the one creating negative energy? Point #2: REBUILD & MOVE FORWARD Ani: “Everyone goes through shit in life. Some shit will break you, and then you rebuild yourself. Some stuff dings you, while other things crack you. It’s a matter of rebuilding yourself and moving forward.” “But some people are so stuck in the story of being a victim that they’re not even willing to go outside of it and see what’s on the other side because it’s all they know. They only know how to be mean and nasty; they only know how to spread vile and shit everywhere.” QUESTION Where in your world have you made a comeback and re-built your life? Point #3: TAKE A STAND The more you take a stand on anything, the more kick-back you’re going to receive. If you don’t have the guts to put yourself out there, how do you expect to make it further in life and in business? Danielle: “We teach our students to put out their content and then “put your blinders on.” Learn to take a stand, and then be prepared for the punches that roll in.” QUESTION Where in your life or inside your business do you know it’s time to take a stand, come what may? Point #4: ARE YOU THE TRAIN WRECK? Ani: “Do you see yourself as a train wreck? Everywhere you post, are you just talking shit on other people and bringing out the negativity? You don’t have to be Positive Polly but you can say, “Today was a shitty day, and here’s what I did to turn it around.” Or, “Here’s how I felt. Has anyone ever felt like this?” “At this point, I’m pretty much an open book and have nothing to hide. I’m not embarrassed about any decision I have ever made or anything I’ve ever said, nor am I embarrassed about where I am in my life right now. I LOVE my life both professionally and personally and am grateful for everything in it.” QUESTION Are you the train wreck that people just can’t stop watching? Point #5:  BEING OK WITH LETTING GO Having been raised inside the strict bubble of Mormonism, Danielle and Garrett began questioning everything they believed. Danielle felt like she was shrinking from the voices all around her telling her what to do, and in that space, there came a point where they had to be ok with letting go of certain relationships for a time. “From my own experience, I know if you have tunnel vision, even with your family and friends, and you just focus on you and do what you know you need to do, you WILL see results. Remember, results speak louder than words.” QUESTION Where in your world have you experienced this? The quality of the hair is top-notch and has been tested and rested by Danielle herself to ensure quality. It’s also going to make an artist’s jobs easier. There are twelve essential foundational colors where everything is pre-rooted, pre-toned, more grams per weft, and less silicone. In laymen’s terms, it’s the best of the best. QUESTION What are the issues you’re having with the hair currently available to you? Point #2: Get Off the Fence The doors of BMS (Natural Beaded Rose education) are closing in April for the rest of 2019 to any new students, so if you’re on the fence, now is the time to take action. Among the other benefits of being a student, with the shortage of hand-tied hair, not only will you have access to ISLA, but you will also get it at the wholesale cost. QUESTION Where are you in the qualification process? Point #3: BMS = Business, Marketing & Sales BMS is the acronym for Big Money Stylist but some students inside the program are referring to it as Business, Marketing, and Sales. “Everybody has a preconceived notion about what is possible to make, or where they need to live in order to make this work,” but BMS blows the lid off those stories. Ani: One of our platform artists who works five days a week, has one employee, one assistant, 2-3 chairs, and a tiny salon did $75k of her own sales in February. QUESTION How has your income changed since incorporating NBR and BMS into your business? Point #4: You’ve Been Declined In order to be admitted into BMS Mastermind, one of the requirements is to fill out an application, each of which is individually read by head trainer, Ani. She’s the one who gives either the stamp of approval or the letter of denial. Grounds for denial include: 1-you are not currently licensed 2-you’re currently not doing hair or 3-how you respond to the questions. While it might be perfectly natural to have the thought that you already know all there is to know about hair and business, placing that on an application is not the way to get your foot in the door. QUESTION Inside your world, what has been your experience when you have had the attitude of knowing it all? Point #5:  Show Me the Money As an artist inside a salon, if you find yourself at a crossroads and are trying to do things differently, the best way to approach your boss is to show them the numbers. Don’t just tell them your vision, SHOW them the numbers and the potential. In the long run, egos and entitlement can only serve you to a certain point. If you’re that person that says it’s not possible to make “that kind of money,” you’re selling yourself short. If you don’t have an open mindset, that leaves you stuck in your beliefs of what you think is possible. QUESTION How has expanding your vision of what is possible opened up your world? The girls are back this week sharing stories, experiences, and plenty of laughs in this episode of the Big Money Stylist.  Danielle and Ani describe how having a Salon Manager and having systems in place make all the difference in the world in all facets of the business.  In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..POWER Point #1: Salon Managers Both Danielle and Ani agree that if you have a full salon and don’t have a Salon Manager you can FULLY TRUST, or software in place to assist in the managing, you’re pretty much fucked. And by the way, do not make the mistake of giving this job to one of your hair stylists. When she first opened her Salon, Danielle used to manage everything on her own. As her salon grew and expanded, she reached the point where it all eventually became too overwhelming for her to manage on her own. QUESTION What is your experience with Salon Managers? What difference have they made in your salon? Point #2: Juggling Too Much? Danielle: I’m very clean and appear to be very put together…but I’m not. I’m very passionate and driven, artistic and detail oriented…but there’s a BIG difference between being organized and being detailed. And then if there’s too much detail, I get overwhelmed. Even if you’re detail oriented, when you’re trying to juggle too many things, shit falls apart. And then when you’re looking to add people to your team, you have this thought of “nobody can do it my way.” But.. is your way always the most effective way? QUESTION How has trying to juggle it all worked out for you? Point #3: Follow-up & Referrals Nothing says cheap hair like “Text me for appointments!” When you do this, you’re not taking yourself seriously, nor are you gathering pertinent information. Not only that, people tend to slip through the cracks this way. Danielle and Ani teach their artists that they will have better results in creating longevity with their current clients when they follow-up with them rather than going with the churn and burn mentality. It’s great to have social media for marketing, but oft times the gold is in the referrals. QUESTION Are you currently adhering to the churn and burn mentality? What is one thing you can do to change that? Point #4: You’re On the List You take yourself and your business more seriously by staying organized and creating systems, collecting information from clients, and creating a better overall client experience inside of your own space and salon, whether you’re doing it by yourself or you have a whole team working behind you or with you. Danielle: Sometimes as small business owners, we forget to have the bigger mindset like Nordstroms or Bloomingdales where once you become their customer, you’re on their list and you begin receiving a stream of steady emails in your inbox. Sometimes you’re annoyed, and other times you’re really glad they sent you that suggestion or tip. QUESTION What system to you have in place that captures clients’ emails and other pertinent information? Point #5:  What Is It Costing You? Danielle: The moral of this story is, if you’re in business, start creating better habits, patterns, and behaviors right now; start utilizing systems and actually figure out how to use them so they benefit you. Educate yourself more on marketing and not just posting a pretty photo and saying “text or dm me.” Systems are created to free up space to enable us to do our Art. What is the cost of trying to “do it all,”especially if you’re a mom? QUESTION As you step back and take a look at your business, what is one system you can add that will ultimately free up time and space for you? While editing her first video, the thought of “Who do you think you are?” entered Danielle’s mind, which thought was quickly replaced with, “You have no idea how many people this is going to impact.” QUESTION Where did your journey begin as an artist? Point #2: Clear Communication Artists have to powerfully communicate with clients what they’re going to do before the appointment begins. As an artist, you must own that you’re the expert. It’s your job to lay out the facts and the outcomes so the client knows exactly what to expect. QUESTION How do you set yourself apart as the expert? Point #3: Framing Inside of Seduction Framing is the reality when it comes to seduction and assisting people to make better decisions. It’s the ability to put a particular story around the way someone views something. What framing does is create for the individual who is going to buy from you price elasticity. Our story about what we’re going to pay for something opens up and actually becomes something bigger because of the new frame. QUESTION How are you framing the experience your clients receive? Point #4: NBR is the Bently of Extensions When you’re dealing with high-end services, you’ve eliminated 90% of the marketplace. Let them go somewhere else. When we talk about Natural Beaded Rose, we’re talking about a luxury product that helps people change the way they see themselves. QUESTION What elite experience do you provide for your clients? Point #5:  Communication Equals Cash The conversation of power inside of a frame of elite services exists when the client is in the chair, but they’ve already moved themselves into that place. Pricing and communication become simpler because you’ve already been communicating the value of that service from the very beginning. QUESTION What can you do to improve the way you communicate with your clients about the services you’re providing? From knowing your numbers to recognizing when it’s time to create space for yourself as an Artist, in this week’s episode of the Big Money Stylist podcast, Danielle and Ani take on areas of the hair industry that are vital to one’s growth, success, and sanity. In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PRODUCTION Point #1: Don’t Quit Danielle: It’s not until you hit so many “Oh shit!” moments that you actually start having a little more respect for people who have done what you’re doing, even if you don’t like them. Shit’s a lot harder than you think. There were so many times I wanted to quit but didn’t. And in the not quitting, I have become a better educator, a better person, a better mom. QUESTION What have you learned about yourself by not quitting? Point #2: Continuing Education Continuing education is key inside of the hair industry, both for the student AND the teacher. Danielle and Ani agree the more they teach, the more they learn how to become better educators. Ani: By scaling down inside of BMS we’re really pouring into the 250 students we have. Each week we have a small group of 15 students where the attention to detail is making a huge difference in their work. QUESTION Where in your world do you know you need to level up? What steps are you taking do to so? Point #3: Do the Work What has frustrated Ani for so long is when people look at her life and her job and only the fun aspects of it – the podcasts, being on stage, teaching, hanging out with Danielle – and want to experience ALL of that but are unwilling to do the work required. Ani: “In reality, that is a minuscule amount of what I actually do. Everything else I do doesn’t look fun. It’s a lot of work. It’s a lot of late nights, a lot of early mornings. You’re telling me you want to step into the company, get paid as a trainer underneath the umbrella of DKW, NBR, and BMS…but you don’t want to do any work for it?” QUESTION Where in your world are you unwilling to do the work required? Point #4: Know Your Numbers Ani: By the time artists attend BMS, many are nearly through with the industry. They’re working tons of hours and making next to nothing a lot of times. Danielle: If they actually looked at their numbers based off on the number of hours they’re working, even if they’re super successful, a lot of them want to break down and cry. Danielle: When I first started out, I was doing my numbers but they were very vague and were based on the deposits in my bank account. What I’ve learned is the power lies in the ability to look at your numbers and know how to adjust and problem solve so you’re constantly moving forward, otherwise, you’re regressing. QUESTION When is the last time you looked closely at your numbers? Point #5: Create Space to Breathe Danielle: When you own your own boutique, it’s not just the physical hours spent doing the art; there’s SO much more that goes into it. And without a full team supporting you, it’s so easy to run yourself into the ground. Ani: Once you start getting to overwhelm, it leads to exhaustion and irritability. EVERYTHING in your life is affected and you find you don’t have time to breathe. You NEED space to breathe. It’s vital for your sanity QUESTION Where are you missing out on opportunities because you’re feeling overwhelmed and can’t see the clear picture of where you currently are in your business? Quote of the Week: “Don’t call yourself an educator and an expert inside of education if you don’t have reps educating. If you’re a client, do your research! In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..POWER Point #1: Recognize the Wins Danielle: If I could rewind to just three years ago and see me now, I’d be like, “Oh my God! I did it! I made it!” If you don’t stop to have gratitude for who you are or how far you’ve come, you will become a miserable, unhappy person. Inside of that energy, the ability to create and expand is severly diminished. QUESTION In this moment, what is one thing you’re grateful for? Point #2: Things Aren’t What They Seem The problem with social media is that most people tend to only post the highlight reel of their life, which gives a false impression of the way their life really is. Inside of that world, it is so easy to get triggered by what we see as we’re scrolling, which can easily throw us off our game.. QUESTION When is the last time you posted a scene that wasn’t from your highlight reel? What’s stopping you from doing that? Point #3: The Drama Club When people are on the prowl for drama, they don’t always realize they’re being sucked into it. It makes you wonder what else they could be doing with their time, and what amazing things could they be creating. Find something in your life that gives you purpose, something that isn’t drama-driven. Ultimately, drama doesn’t serve you or make you happy. And, it trickles down into every aspect of your life. QUESTION Are you queen of the drama club in your life? How is that really working out for you? Point #4: What Triggers You? Was it a bad day, or was it a bad two minutes that you stretched into a whole day? What are you paying attention to? What triggers you? What are you focusing your energy on? There was a time when Danielle was a slave to her workout routine, so much so that if she didn’t get her workout in for the day, she became Monster Mommy. QUESTION What are some of the things that trigger you and send you into the land of Monster Mommy? Point #5:  Gratitude & Intentions Ani: Every morning when I wake up, I write down something in my journal that I’m grateful for. I also set an intention for the day. Sometimes my intention is creation, space, or freedom, while other times it’s just letting the day unfold as it will. Starting my morning like this always puts me in a good frame of mind. QUESTION What are the daily rituals and habits that set you up for your day? Quote of the Week: “We can’t rewrite history, so the time you invest THEN, matters now. Danielle and Ani share some of the things they are excited about for 2019 and why setting up your year instead of just letting things happen is crucial to your happiness and success. Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PRODUCTION Point #1: Looking Back to Look Forward Ani spent 2018 grinding and working. She didn’t take a vacation and she didn’t go anywhere. She had just moved to Cali, BMS was growing, and she was super stoked for what lay ahead of her. She essentially carried BMS in 2018. Danielle feels as though Ani took on BMS as her own little baby in 2018. “Ani is the Sam of Warrior Week. When you take on something as your own and when you’re an entrepreneur starting something, you take everything to the core. Ani gave everything she had and more.” QUESTION What are some of your patterns and behaviors from 2018 that you want to course correct in 2019?   Point #2: Take a Step Back and Watch it Rise After years of carrying on at a high level, including all of the stress that comes along with that, Danielle let go a couple of years ago and passed the torch to Garrett. She had reached the point where she was ready to let her ‘baby’ go. Danielle: I think in life you have to do that. You have to let go and see how things will go; how others will handle things without you. It turns out, people step in where they need to. It gives other people the opportunity to rise, and everyone as a company can rise together. QUESTION Where in your world is it time to let go of something? What is it?   Point #3: Delegate to Create Space So many women have a hard time letting go, even when it comes to something like hiring a house cleaner or nanny. Danielle recently reaped the benefits of delegating some of her Christmas preparations and tasks, which created space in her soul. Ani keeps her place very organized and clean, but after back-to-back trainings last year, at times it looked as if a tornado had hit. She has recently hired her first house cleaner and is so stoked to have her come in once a week. That represents freedom for Ani. QUESTION What is one thing you can delegate today that will free up space inside of your soul?   Point #4: Freedom From the outside, Ani appears to be a very system-oriented get-shit-done type of person. But on the inside, she is a very free-flowing person who loves to explore and take adventures. For Ani, 2019 is all about creating freedom and space inside of her life. Danielle doesn’t want to book out her appointments too far in advance, otherwise, she feels like she isn’t able to take a vacation or time off. It’s too easy to let months pass and suddenly you realize you haven’t gone anywhere; you haven’t done anything but work and grind. QUESTION What is your idea of freedom? What does that look like for you?   Point #5: Celebrate the Little Wins Ani: You don’t just have to wait for really big things to celebrate the WINS. It’s the little WINS that remind you, ‘Oh my God, I’m doing this!” You have to be happy over the small little things because if you wait until the really big things to happen –  the ones that happen every blue moon – you’ll spend most of your time unhappy. Danielle: If you’re feeling slightly overwhelmed, just remember that it’s the little things you implement that will slowly make a big impact. You will suddenly realize how much you have accomplished in a short period of time. Just take things day by day, one step at a time. QUESTION What are the little WINS you are celebrating today? How does it make you feel?   Point #2: State of Overwhelm Danielle believes that when you’re in a place of feeling burned out or stagnant, one of two things usually needs to happen: either decrease business or increase business. “Both places can be really scary to be in. A lot of times, people a) don’t know where to start or b) they start brain scheming this far out path that overwhelms them. QUESTION What are some choices you can make today to begin moving forward?   Point #3: The Power of “B” Danielle: If you don’t know the things you need to change, then going over the facts is one thing you can do. Every time you do that, you discover things that you can improve upon. Start there and then just keep taking the next step. “The power is in the“B” because that means you started. When you start something and are consistent with it, you never know where it can actually take you.” QUESTION Where in your world do you know you need to take that “next step” but have been putting it off?   Point #4: Be Willing to Fail Ani has always been one to accept a challenge from Garrett and Danielle. From the very beginning, she has jumped in, no matter what, and recalls a moment when she failed miserably but learned a huge lesson. The ladies both agree that anything you do that you haven’t done before, you’re going to suck at it. The fact that you’re actually doing it says a lot about you. You don’t get there overnight; you have to become that person and that character. Everybody wants these big breaks but you really just need to simmer down and focus on the basics first. Since we’re all human, we might be thinking what they’re saying but we don’t actually type it. Ani: That’s so much negative energy. My bubble, my space, and the people I surround myself with – I value that energy so much that I would never think to take the time to be purposefully nasty to someone else. QUESTION What have you been giving energy to that is no longer serving you?   Point #2: Tool or Trigger? Danielle and Ani agree that things don’t trigger them the way they used to. They no longer allow in their space nor do they give energy to certain things or people. Danielle: Social Media is a beautiful tool. You either use it to be social OR you use your social media as a tool. If I’m going to run a successful business, I have to be in a place of creation. If you let all these trolls bog you down, then you’ll start second-guessing everything you do. QUESTION How has Social Media benefited your business because you are using it as a tool?   Point #3: The Art of Reframing Ani suggests using the art of Reframing when people say negative things about you or your art. Reframing is interpreting what people say any way you choose. Ani: Our initial reaction is to protect and defend ourselves. But don’t let some asshole make you play small. Don’t stop putting out your content, your videos, and your photos. At the end of the day, you can’t make everybody happy. QUESTION Where in your world would the Art of Reframing change the game for you?   Point #4: Block & Delete Danielle believes that if you’re willing to put yourself out there on social media to build your business, just understand that when people say negative things about you, that’s a part of the game. She reminds us to stay the course, delete those people, and block those people. “Be confident in what you’re doing and where you’re going. If you’re getting results by putting yourself out there, that should be enough validation about you and your path. You don’t need to deal with anybody else’s shit regardless of what they say.” QUESTION Who do you know you need to block or delete on social media? What are you waiting for?   Point #5: Protect Your Space Ani: At the end of the day, people are judging you based on their perception of you. Those who speak negatively about me don’t even know me, so why would I ever give them retail space inside my mind when they don’t deserve it? Danielle: If you find yourself obsessing about someone or something, where else could you take that energy? What could you do to put that energy towards something that actually benefits you, that helps you in business, and that helps you in life? As we practice self-care, we not only feel better, but we also deliver better results to our clients. QUESTION What small, sustainable action are you committed to begin implementing today that will lead to a healthier you in 2019?   Point #2: Arm Yourself With the Facts Danielle and Ani have seen many students in their program know what they need to do that would lead them to the success they are desiring, but end up cheering others from the sidelines instead of stepping into the game themselves. Getting down to the facts and nitty-gritty details takes artists out of the overwhelm mode and puts everything into perspective. Doing this is difficult for many artists because they don’t want to see where they really are. QUESTION What are the facts telling you? What are you going to do about it?   Point #3: Progress or Regress You can be in a good place in your life and know there’s another level; there’s always another level. You don’t have to be unhappy where you are in order for you to want to achieve more. Sometimes you will go into maintenance mode, but if you’re not progressing, you’re regressing. It’s not like you have to take huge leaps and bounds every single day, just do the tiny little things that will consistently move you forward. QUESTION Where inside your world are things going well? What would the next level look like for you?   Point #4: I Don’t Have Time You have to be willing to make a change at some point and not be so stubborn. At the end of the day, it all comes down to prioritizing. You get to create whatever you want. Oftentimes, it’s a matter of looking at your life through a different lens and being willing to invest the time into the things you say you want. QUESTION What are you telling yourself you don’t have time for?   Point #5: Reps Lead to Success When you start anything that is new to you, you’re going to feel uncomfortable in the beginning. Think back to how you felt when you first started doing hair, or when you recorded your first video for marketing. When you see where you are today in any area of your life, you realize that the more you do something, the better you become and the more you like what you’re doing. It’s a natural progression. Coach Ani: BMS education is not normal: it’s hustle, grind, and commitment like never before, beginning with an intense three week lead up to the actual three-day event. Now we know what to look for in the applications that come in because we’ve gotten really clear on the different traits of those we want inside BMS, who will be a good fit for us, and vice-versa. QUESTION Where in your life are your hustle and grind lacking power and commitment?   Point #2: Communication Styles Coach Ani: The way I message Danielle is the same way I message Garrett – brief and to the point. When I hired Morgan on as my assistant, I told her don’t be offended, I’m not trying to be a dick, but I’m a very direct person and my mind moves very quickly. Danielle: I can’t play that role with Garrett because I’m his wife. When I have done that in the past, he would spout back at me as if I were a dude, then I would say fuck you buddy and get irritated. Now, I reframe it as a question, “Would you like to do this?’ Underneath it, though, I’m thinking “we’re fucking doing this!” I put the two emojis with a heart and sometimes with a flame, and he responds: Yeah, love it babe, fist bump… instead of being mad. It’s all about the packaging and the pre-frame. QUESTION What different communication styles do you use with the most important people in your life?   Point #3: Hats, Lids, and Boxes Coach Ani: When you wear so many hats, something can trigger you. If you try to solve it while you’re upset and pissed off, you’re not actually going to get a great solution. I never speak out of anger. If I’m that angry, I know I need to take a step back and quiet down. I don’t curse, I don’t scream, and I don’t yell because you can never take any of that back. I reel it in, reframe it, let it go, and move forward. Danielle:  Everybody has their level before they reach the point of explosion. Garrett is 1-2-3 BAM!  –  whereas I have to go through 16 levels before I’ll flip my lid. If you have two people who flip their lid simultaneously, you can’t have a productive conversation and are no longer in a logical space. If I step back and compose myself, Garrett comes back down into his box, and we’re able to have a logical and somewhat productive conversation. QUESTION What is your go-to response when you get triggered?   Point #4: Visions and Targets Coach Ani: When you get clear on what you want and set a goal or target, in the beginning, it has to be specific. If you say, “I just want to have the perfect client,” or “I just want to have more money,” what does that actually look like for you? Everyone’s picture is going to be different – the perfect client for you may not be the perfect client for someone else, or the amount of money you want may look different for someone else. Get specific, and at the same time, be flexible. Danielle:  I don’t create some kind of a vision board; they’re messy and look like a five-year-old’s collage. Also, I’ve noticed my Vision will change, so if I’m stuck on what I’ve put on this board, that can hold me back. If I’m so focused on this “one thing,” what other opportunities am I missing out on? When people have a set plan and shit goes sideways, where the plan doesn’t pan out or come to fruition, it creates chaos and confusion in their lives, and they plummet. My take on it? Shift your plan and change your story. QUESTION Where in your world have you been so set on a particular outcome that you have missed or turned away other opportunities that have shown up along the way?   Point #5: Vulnerability Coach Ani: One of my biggest weaknesses is being vulnerable. Garrett told me that I have one of the best poker faces. It goes stone cold, stoic; that’s how I am feeling. But underneath, I know it’s a hurricane. Even when I start crying, my face doesn’t change. I’m a literal weeping statue. When it comes to my students telling me some of the gnarliest shit I have ever heard in my life, it’s poker face, and I can’t let it affect me Danielle: When you’re coaching individual students and they’re in a painful place, if you’re both in tears at the same time, you’ll get nothing done. There’s a time and a place when vulnerability sets the stage and melts the audience, but when you’re trying to get shit done, it’s not effective. It’s learning to use your superpowers as needed. QUESTION What are your feelings about vulnerability: Strength, weakness, or both? Quote of the Week: “Stay consistent, follow your heart and intuition, and be able to logically back it up. Shift your gears and start going in the direction you feel like you should be going. We love that you’re listening to us, but it doesn’t actually count as ‘the work.’ The work is what you do behind and in front of the chair to grow your business, not just listening to a podcast. Danielle: Many people tell us how motivating we are, yet if you’re not actually doing the work, it doesn’t matter that we make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. A lot of people will tell me they’ve changed their mindset, yet you have to have the work to follow up with. QUESTION What does Production mean to you?   Point #2: The Choice Danielle: BBMSCon 2 was so amazing and was filled with so much good insanity. I launched my brand seven years ago and didn’t really take it seriously until the last two years. I literally want to impact the entire industry. Coach Ani: To think this all started with you, Danielle. We had 350 artists inside of one room to learn NBR and to learn business systems and processes – and this all started with you making one choice 7 years ago. QUESTION Looking back, what is one choice you have made that has entirely changed your life? Point #3: Reps Bring Success Danielle: We can only teach what we have experienced. You have to be willing to put in the work. I used to be that asshole who thought that all I needed was a new camera lens, then I’d be an amazing photographer. That’s a starting point, but first, you have to actually commit, which is the biggest thing we stress at the events. You have to throw yourself in the mix and know that part of that is fucking it up, learning from that, and moving on. You can’t put a price tag on experience and reps. We always tell our students – just get some reps under your belt with NBR, marketing, and photography. QUESTION What one area of your life could use more reps? Point #4: Do the Work Coach Ani: We’re not here to save you, we’re here to help and guide and push you. The path has been paved. There are so many people that have walked that path and have succeeded. There’s proof.  But if you have to be willing to do the work. Danielle: You have to let go of your ego and submit to whoever the teacher is at that moment. If you’re taking a class and submit to the process, you will learn and grow more as an individual. You just will. I’m here, I’m going to do the work, I’m going to submit to the process, even when your ego steps in. If you submit, you will be successful. QUESTION What area in your life are you committed to doing the work consistently? What are the results you want to achieve in that area? Point #5: Grant Yourself Permission Danielle: Once we saw the amount of work both of our businesses had done, we knew it was doable, but we had to give ourselves permission to say, “This is the new version of me, we’re not going back.” It forces you to level up your life even more. Ani: I used to think how cool it would be to have a convertible and drive it up and down PCH. That’s all I ever wanted. I saw the Mazaradi, my dream car and I had this conversation with myself, “You can’t do that, that’s insane.” Then I said, “Wait, why can’t I? I work hard, I live by the beach, this is what I’ve always wanted, don’t I deserve it? Yes, you fucking do.” QUESTION What is something you need to give yourself permission to do? Clear communication, structure, and leadership are some of the topics that Danielle and Ani take on inside of this week’s episode of the Big Money Stylist. Although it’s hard to put the CEO pants on if you’ve never actually been a CEO, learning to walk in another’s shoes is something we can all benefit from. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PROTECTION Point #1: Don’t Cross the Line Danielle: I feel like I rode the friendship train out too long with no structure, so when I did try to lead, no one gave a shit; nobody respected me. What she has learned is the importance of establishing lines and defining roles inside of her business and her personal life, making certain not to overlap the two. QUESTION Where in your world is it time to establish lines and define roles? Point #2: Clear Communication During walk & talks and weekly team meetings, you are able to find flaws in the system and nip them in the bud instead of having them drag on and on. When you don’t have communication, stories are birthed, and from there, everybody assumes their story is true; feelings are hurt, people feel misunderstood, and it becomes a chaotic shit show. QUESTION As a salon owner, are there things weighing heavily on your shoulders that you’ve been avoiding discussing? Point #3: Contracts When it comes to signing contracts, some artists have this feeling of, “How dare you ask me to sign a contract! We’re friends! We had tequila one night!” One of the biggest parts of contracts that artists have a problem with are the non-competition and non-solicitation clauses which in reality, are in place to protect the business. QUESTION What are you doing to protect your business? Point #4: Risking All As a business owner, you take on ALL of the risk. You also pay for and provide everything for the artists who are working inside your salon. Putting yourself in the shoes of a business owner, how would you feel and react if one of your artists decided to leave, giving their number to all of your clients on their way out? QUESTION Where in your world are you taking all of the risk and are letting others take advantage of you? Point #5: Structure Danielle loves the freedom of being an artist, and also realizes that in order for her business to thrive, she can no longer fly by the seat of her pants. She has learned that she has to surrender a little and allow structure to come into play. There comes a time when you have to put your CEO pants on and make the hard decisions that have to be made. Ask yourself this question: If this was mine, what would I do? QUESTION As a salon owner, where have you been slacking and because of it, and things have gotten a little out of hand? For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PROTECTION Point #1: # The Naive Asshole In a recent training inside of the BMS network, an artist revealed that she was the product of a walk-out inside of the salon she had been working in. Now that she is trying to start her own business, she realizes how much of an asshole she was. At one time, Danielle was also that naive asshole who didn’t have the respect for those who had blazed the trail before her. QUESTION How are you currently being a naive asshole? Point #2: It Takes Mad Skills While many think they have what it takes to be successful in business, oftentimes they lack many of the skills necessary to actually do the job that would make it successful. It’s the little things you don’t think about, plus you assume you’re just going to walk in and ‘own the world.’ It’s never as easy as you think, ever! QUESTION In what area do you know it’s time to increase your skill level? Point #3: Risk Takers People forget to put themselves in other people’s shoes and are so quick to judge, not realizing there are a lot of hard decisions business owners must make. They can gather opinions of others, but at the end of the day, the final say-so will forever fall on the shoulders of the business owners who are also the ones taking ALL of the risk. QUESTION Are you prepared to take on all of the risk inside your next business decision? Point #4: Change the Frame Many people equate change with betrayal, no matter how hard you nail it in that a business has to be successful, and that change is sometimes necessary for that success to happen. If something is not working, putting blinders on is not going to get the job done. A new frame must be established, and those who want to remain in the old frame and are unwilling to move forward with the new one, must be let go. QUESTION What new frame must you step into in order for you to move forward and progress? Point #5: Letting Go of the Noise Ani’s experiences over the past few months had thrown her into a state of chaos. She took a step back and found that it was necessary to drown out the opinions and voices of those who were influencing her in order for her to hear her own voice. Ani: Is that the person I’m going to be, that the minute it gets hard I give in? I give up? We’re all a little bit insane which is why we’re changing this industry. Inside of that, I know I am not done here. QUESTION Where in your world is it time to separate yourself from the influencing voices of others? When Artists sign up for a class or seminar, they pay the fee and then want a play-by-play action book to success. They’re looking for that magic pill or magic checklist. Danielle explains that’s not how business works. The easy part is paying the money and signing up for the class; the hard part is actually doing the work. QUESTION What have been your expectations re a Magic Pill to success?   Point #2: Slave Behind the Chair Hair stylists have a problem: They’re slaves trained in an industry and by a society that says, “You are not an artist, you are a slave and will come in the days and hours that I want.” Inside the slavery game, you have a second game which sets up Artists to look for a Savior. The life is being sucked out of so many Artists in the industry – the art, the fun, the joy, the passion – and they are slowly dying. QUESTION How has being a slave behind the chair worked for you thus far?   Point #3: No Salvation In Checklists An Artist with a slave mentality can be given a checklist or formula, but they will not see the actual art around the science of the checklist, nor have the intuitive knowledge to be able to move with the ebb and flow in and out of the formula. As they attempt to find salvation inside of these checklists, Artists begin looking at them as commandments to salvation, but they will never set them free. QUESTION How is this conversation opening your eyes and helping to change your story? Point #4: How Do I Get Leads? There are four things you need to do every single day: 1) Livestream Video 2) Elite Photos of your Before and After work 3) Audio through podcasting or communication with clients 4) Text via FB page as a blog, an actual blog, or writing email copy. The Artist slave asks, “What is the checklist?” We tell them: The Daily 4. Their response? “But Garrett, I don’t have enough time!” The challenge is, you want to be free but you’re so busy being a slave that you can’t actually hear nor do what’s actually required to set yourself free. QUESTION What aspect of the Daily Four are you going to implement first?   Point #5:  Micro Wins Micro Wins is an actual strategy used in Military Training and inside of big business. You have these big visions for change but the problem is, you can’t move this big business very quickly if you try to make it move in one big swoop. So what you have are Micro Goals or Benchmarks where you take on one thing for a month and become master at that, then you set another Micro Goal. It’s a process where you take down your big goal one micro piece at a time. . QUESTION What is one big goal that you can start breaking down into Mirco wins? As you get comfortable with yourself, you own EVERY side of yourself, including the crazy, but you learn how to manifest the crazy in a productive way. Garrett: Most people cannot accept that there are literally two sides to them. I spent most of my life putting who I was, away: my desires, the anger, the rage, the fire, the questions, the sexual desire. QUESTION What is it about you that you are you hiding in a box? Point #2: Super Power Danielle: I can’t operate as Susan all of the time, so it’s literally learning how to cohesively live together with your multiple personalities. It’s learning how to be cool with yourself and tapping into this dark, crazy side of you, looking at it as your Superpower. Ex: I gotta handle some shit in business, so Dark Susan’s coming out. I gotta be a wife and a lover, so Danielle’s coming out. Garrett: Relationship is the ability for a person to be able to be ALL of themselves in a relationship. My mission for myself and for Danielle was to be able to figure out how to be ALL of ourselves. There’s Dark Susan sex, and there’s Danielle sex – totally different sex, both are amazing. As we become more adaptable to ourselves, I think our relationship blows up in a big, beautiful way. QUESTION How do you handle ALL of you? How do you use the different parts of you to your advantage? Point #3: Critical Bitch Garrett: Danielle has an aspect to her that I deeply love now but that I hated and loathed for most of our marriage, until the last four to five years. This side is what I considered to be Critical Bitch. Whatever was going on, there was always this chipping away, and for most of our relationship I thought, “Fucking crazy woman.” Anything to do with Danielle’s dark side was viewed as wrong, broken, over-thinking. What I had viewed as critical, all of a sudden become powerful. She had the ability to see things clearly amidst the chaos, and not be sucked in by emotion. QUESTION What have you previously viewed as wrong or broken in your spouse, but now view as powerful? Point #4: Embrace the Dark AND the Light Garrett: When you start accepting that this is true inside of you – the Diabolical AND the Divine – when you accept that this is true about you, when you come to terms with and embrace and love both sides of you, you start to love and appreciate humanity and people around you at a level you never could before because you’re not fucking hiding anymore. Inside Wake Up Warrior, Warrior Woman, and Big Money Stylist, we lead individuals on this path that accepts the true power of who you are on both extremes: in the Dark AND in the Light, in the Night AND in the Light, so they can ultimately gain the purest sight of being able to see truth. QUESTION What part of you are you suppressing and not embracing?   Point #5: Submission vs Sedation Danielle:  How do I get to the end result I’m looking for in a particular situation? What are the steps required? It always requires submission at some level. Ultimately, I’m happier and get what I want. That overall feeling is better than retreating and closing down. Sedation can be a sneaky little bastard, and it can come in many forms. Garrett: Most couples don’t want to submit, so they sedate. They go to whatever they need to in order to avoid having to collide: they eat, drink, pop pills, ignore, delve into fitness. People go to religion to justify the shitty relationship they’re in; that somehow it will be magical when they die. QUESTION Where inside of your relationship are you sedating to avoid collision? Communication Challenge: How has your upbringing affected your ability to embrace both the Darkness and the Light within you? Date Night Topic: Have a conversation about your particular Crazy. She knew the power was in leads so she started hustling and using the power of Marketing. As she worked on her Marketing and began seeing results, she experienced a mind shift and realized it didn’t matter if she lived in a small town or a big city, she could still bring in big money through Marketing. QUESTION What are you doing to market yourself?   Point #2: Give Me Your Card, Bitch Ani: As Artists, we feel so beyond awkward trying to close anybody, especially when it’s on the phone. You have to go in knowing that what you’re selling is amazing, and you have to trust that you can produce the work to collect this money.  Val: The mindset of being a Closer began to shift for me after the first successful class we had. I knew that it worked. I was in the mindset of: We’re selling out this class, this shit works, I’m a fucking closer, and I’m going to collect your card info. QUESTION What needs to shift in your mind in order for you to become a Closer?   Point #3: The Land of Yes or No Ani: We live in a world where Maybe is an acceptable answer, where you can be a super flake and not commit to anything. In Marketing, it’s not maybe anymore; it’s either a clear Yes, or a clear No. Danielle: If you’re a Marketer, you’re not scared of the Nos; you’ve got to own that marketing side of you, even in your panic mode. Give yourself a pep talk and then go after the Closing. QUESTION What area of your life do you find yourself living in the Land of Maybe instead of the Land of Yes or No? Point #4: I Am a Leader, Not a Savior Ani: This is a hard one for Artists because we see the difference we can make in a woman’s confidence. We want to do that for everyone, including anything that you can sort-of-kind-of-fuck-up along the way. Just because someone contacts you and they’re willing to pay you, doesn’t mean they’re qualified to sit in your chair or get NBR. QUESTION Where in your world are you acting like a Savior instead of a Leader?   Point #5:  Daily Four Ani: When I began marketing the way Garrett taught us, I had to literally put up blinders and focus only on what I was doing in that moment. Otherwise, it was so easy to get sidetracked by all the chatter of the other Artists in my salon. Danielle: I think it’s so important to communicate your message because it’s literally the way to get your dream client in the chair. In addition to taking Before and Afters, you have to showcase a little bit of you. QUESTION What has been your experience using the Daily Four? Quote of the Week: “There are five pivotal points inside of this. Some of you are looking for a miracle switch when all you need is one shift in how you see your world. You just had bombs dropped on your face. What are you going to do with them?” –Garrett J White “Don’t base your results on your social media following, base your results on actual clients sitting in your chair. Inside of that, she doesn’t recognize the woman she’s become, in the most beautiful of ways. It’s not so much the destination, because there really is no destination. On your way to becoming that woman, things change. Who you become along the way changes every single time, and so does your path. QUESTION Where in your world have you noticed the biggest change in your path?   Point #2: Vision Quest This is the woman on the island, who you see yourself becoming twelve months from now. Who you think you want to become will continue to change and grow as you do. Don’t get so stuck on who you have to be at the finish line because there is no finish line. If you aim at getting there, you will fail every single time; if you’re a little ahead of where you were yesterday, then that’s fucking great. QUESTION Who is the woman you see on the island twelve months from now?   Point #3: King Fu Grip The entrepreneurial game gives us the ability to start thinking through sequences, systems, automation, and delegation. Delegation is giving others an opportunity to do what is actually burning the fuck out of you. The great barrier reef between the hustler, the business owner, and the entrepreneur, and the ability to make money, grow and sustain money, is that you actually have to let go of your Kung Fu fucking grip of control. QUESTION What area of your life do you need to let go and start delegating more responsibilities to others? Point #4: Hustler and Sedation The only way a hustler doesn’t burn out and have a complete and utter breakdown is they sedate. When you’re a hustler, you’re also a hobbyist. Sedation is part of the game of making money. It’s stressful as fuck. There is no happy trail on the way to making money. It’s war with yourself, and with everything and everyone around you. QUESTION Where in your world are you sedating?   Point #5:  It’s a War The minute you start to rise in your primal power to produce, friction will appear between you and your powerful man. This is why so few power couples exist because it’s war. The lines between producers, lovers, and couples become blended. The war is not with anyone else; it’s with you. You must make the decision to rise, regardless of what anyone else thinks. QUESTION What are you experiencing in this area? While editing her first video, the thought of “Who do you think you are?” entered Danielle’s mind, which thought was quickly replaced with, “You have no idea how many people this is going to impact.” QUESTION Where did your journey begin as an artist?   Point #2: Clear Communication Artists have to powerfully communicate with clients what they’re going to do before the appointment begins. As an artist, you must own that you’re the expert. It’s your job to lay out the facts and the outcomes so the client knows exactly what to expect. QUESTION How do you set yourself apart as the expert?   Point #3: Framing Inside of Seduction Framing is the reality when it comes to seduction and assisting people to make better decisions. It’s the ability to put a particular story around the way someone views something. What framing does is create for the individual who is going to buy from you price elasticity. Our story about what we’re going to pay for something opens up and actually becomes something bigger because of the new frame. QUESTION How are you framing the experience your clients receive? Point #4: NBR is the Bently of Extensions When you’re dealing with high-end services, you’ve eliminated 90% of the marketplace. Let them go somewhere else. When we talk about Natural Beaded Rose, we’re talking about a luxury product that helps people change the way they see themselves. QUESTION What elite experience do you provide for your clients?   Point #5:  Communication Equals Cash The conversation of power inside of a frame of elite services exists when the client is in the chair, but they’ve already moved themselves into that place. Pricing and communication become simpler because you’ve already been communicating the value of that service from the very beginning. QUESTION What can you do to improve the way you communicate with your clients about the services you’re providing? The conversation of Profit doesn’t just refer to money; it extends to the stories we create and hold onto, as well as the people we surround ourselves with. Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PROFIT Point #1: I Write My Own Story Danielle: The easy part is acknowledging that you’re in a story; the hard part is changing it. You’re not going to see results overnight, which means you just have to consistently wake up every single day and move towards what you want to create for your new story. A lot of women wake up, fall back into their patterns and routines and say, “See! Fuck it! I can’t do it!” They get stuck in the shame, blame, and guilt game; they use it as an excuse to not have to consistently do the hard work every single day in order to rewrite their story and get the results they’re looking for. QUESTION When you have a story, what does letting go of that story do for you emotionally? Point #2: Reset Coach Val: When you revert back to your story once you’ve been out of it for a while, that’s your reset point. It’s easier for you to go back to it; it’s like you’re proving you were right. A part of you is secretly hoping that you will fail so you can prove that you were right in the first place. Coach Ani:  It’s kind of like when you die in a video game, you get to reset and go back to where you were. We want to win so badly that we think “If I win, that means you have to lose.” QUESTION Why do you tend to revert back into your story once you have been out of it for a while? Point #3: Let Go Danielle: Hanging onto a story breaks you down. I spent a few years being angry at people, eventually realizing I was just angry at myself. I had allowed the anxiety and stress of the story to take hold of me Coach Val: It’s so draining physically and emotionally. You feel worn down and beat up. If someone is bringing negative energy into my space, I’m quick to throw up a wall to protect my space. QUESTION When you’re unable to let go of a story, what does it to to you physically? Point #4: Saying No to Say Yes Coach Val: As you set your impossible goals – and benchmarks inside of those goals – learning to say no to the things that will not get you where you ultimately want to go is so important. You have to live your life for you and not be so concerned with what everybody else is doing. So many people are looking for validation outside of themselves and end up living their life to please other people. QUESTION How does letting go of stories help you with your goals? Point #5: Inner Circle Influence Coach Ani: I think it’s important to hold people to a higher standard by pointing out to them, “If you keep playing the same game you’ve been playing, you’re already going to hit that goal, so why stick to that one goal? Why not do something more?” Coach Val: You want the company you keep to reflect your goals as well. I like people who will hold me accountable and say, “Hey! That’s not big enough!” I need people in my life to give me that extra kick in the butt. QUESTION How has your inner circle helped you in reaching your goals and targets? Quote of the Week: “I may have started as a hairdresser not knowing anything was possible because I had so many blinders up, but now my walls are shattered. There are no limitations.” –Danielle White “Everything I’m living right now has surpassed any goal that I set out in the beginning to attain. I’m open to many different possibilities, and I just want to keep growing while keeping my integrity and family intact.” –Valerie Plunk “At this point, any goal that we thought was an impossible goal, we have fucking smashed through. But she didn’t hate the business because that’s what was paying the bills. “I got to this place where I felt Garrett loved the business more than he loved me.” Garrett: Men can control what happens in business more than they can control what happens at home. It’s easier to be the King in business than it is to be the King at home. QUESTION Gentlemen, have you lost your crown? What are you going to do to get it back? Point #2: Split in Two Many women who out-produce their husbands are in this space of: How do I deal with my husband who is not being the man? I’m dominating him in business and trying to decide if I should get a divorce. Garrett: When a man allows his wife to split the bills, it splits his power and creates a bit of submission in a weird way. Men, at the primal level, must be okay with the stewardship and responsibility of “I must pay the bills independent of my wife.” QUESTION How do you as a couple feel about this?   Point #3: Wake-Up Call At one point in their marriage, Danielle hid how much money she was making. She split up her bank accounts to create a safety net for herself because she wasn’t sure if their marriage was going to work out. When she got triggered about something, she revealed to Garrett that she had made $30k the previous month which served as a wake-up call in the form of a big two by four straight into his balls. QUESTION Ladies, why do you hide your money from your husband? Point #4: Show Me the Money, Honey There’s an artist inside Danielle’s Big Money Stylist network who is outproducing her husband in a massive way. “I love my husband and I want to be more sexual, but I’m just not attracted to him.” Garrett: This is a sticky situation, and there’s not a simple one-cut solution. When Danielle was making more money, her tolerance of behavior by me went down, and her desire to connect with me sexually also went down. QUESTION How is this dynamic affecting your marriage?   Point #5: Friday Night Fights A recent fight between Danielle and Garrett would have been the end of their marriage a few years ago. But this time it compelled them and opened them up. Danielle: When your foundation is rocky and an explosion happens, it’s hard to build that back up. Now, we can have a fight and come back and talk about it because our foundation is more solid. QUESTION What condition is the foundation of your marriage in? Communication Challenge: Gentlemen, I want you to have a conversation with your wife about the dynamics of money. What is the connection to the attraction for you and the money you’re making or the lack of money you’re making? If you’re a man and not paying the bills, have that conversation with your wife and just see where it takes you. If you can get her to be honest with you, it may be the prompting that you need to ultimately rise.   Date Night Topic: Have a conversation about what you can do to create a stronger foundation inside of your relationship. his week’s episode of the Big Money Stylist, the topic is Production, and inside of that the ladies have a conversation about stories – how to recognize when we are in a story that isn’t serving us, how to change our stories, how to separate facts from feelings, and how to ultimately live the life we want through asking the hard questions, checking the Ego, and making necessary course corrections. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PRODUCTION Point #1: What Are Stories? Danielle: People will say they can’t operate at a certain level because they have a story of who they really are and how they operate. They can’t see beyond who they are inside of that story. Coach Val: It’s human nature to justify anything you’re doing. If you say you don’t have any stories, you’re bullshitting yourself. When you’re stuck in a negative cycle, that’s when your story isn’t serving you. QUESTION Where in your life are you living inside of a story that isn’t serving you?   Point #2: Jekyll and Hyde Syndrome Coach Ani: People use stories as an excuse to play small. Realistically, growth is not easy and can be painful so they find a story inside their bubble where they feel safe and cling to that. Danielle: When people get stuck in a story, they are literally feeding other emotions. They feel loved in doing this shitty thing, and at some level, the story is validating them. QUESTION What story are you living inside of that is giving you validation?   Point #3: Moving Forward Coach Val: People don’t take action because they have choreographed every last detail in their head of how the story is going to play out. Yet so many factors can come in and change that outcome. Coach Ani: Sometimes we find that we have been in a situation for so long that we don’t ask ourselves the question, “Am I really happy? Do I really want this outcome?” QUESTION What are some of your excuses for not moving forward?   Point #4: Facts and Feelings Coach Val: When you separate feelings from facts, you are able to make a clearer decision; you’re able to see how your story is stunting your growth. Coach Ani: Sometimes people need more emotion inside a situation because they’re being too ice cold and not feeling what’s actually happening. And then sometimes they are so far into their emotions that they need their head to back them out to be able to look at the facts without any emotion. QUESTION When you separate facts and feelings from a situation you currently find yourself in, what are you discovering?   Point #5:  Ego Check There was a time when the ladies had stories that they were the only ones who could do what they were doing inside of NBR and BMS. Those stories fell away when they began hiring others who were able to come in and take on these roles. In letting go, it frees time up for them to create more business ideas, ut creates space for them to enjoy life, and it also gives others a chance to rise up and reach their potential. QUESTION Where in your life are you willing to give up control for the benefit of everyone? Quote of the Week: “If you have a story, ask yourself “Why am I letting this story serve me?” There’s a piece to the story that might make you feel validated so ask what the validation key in that story is. Could you change the story and still have the feeling of validation?” –Danielle White “If you are wanting things to change, look at what you’re telling yourself, then tell yourself the polar opposite. Look at it through a different lens. If you get stuck in a story, you’re just that – stuck – and you can’t move forward.” –Valerie Plunk “Begin asking yourself the hard questions: Do I want this person on my team? Do I want this relationship back? Is this part of my life serving me? If you’re not willing to ask yourself the hard questions, you stay stuck in the same stories forever.” –Anianne Rivera

For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..POWER Point #1: The Bull, the Goat, and the Hermit Danielle: I’m stubborn, I’m an over-thinker, I don’t like details, I’m a dreamer, I want to live in the moment, and I’ve always felt like I was socially awkward. Coach Val: I’m super creative, it’s hard for me to understand systems, I suck at math, and have zero reflexes. Coach Ani: I’m a super introvert who retreats very quickly, I shut people out, I want to do everything on my own, and I don’t accept help easily. QUESTION What do you view as your flaws?   Point #2: Own Who You Are Coach Val: I feel like I’m off in a land where I can’t be put in a box. I’ve always viewed it as “I’m wrong and weird.” I’m now coming into owning and channeling my artistry, and not looking at it anymore as “I’m flawed.” Danielle: When you start owning who you are, it’s almost infectious. If you’re cool with yourself, with your flaws, people are cool with that. People look at you and say “I like that she just doesn’t care.” Coach Ani: If people ask me if they can help, my first response is going to be no, I’m good, I’ve got it. I see this as a strength because I have been able to build so much inside of BMS.  QUESTION What have you begun owning about yourself?   Point #3: Be Your Best Self Danielle: You want to have control and do it all, but you can’t be everything for every person. In our industry, you can be a great artist but that doesn’t mean you are a great fit for everyone. Everyone brings their best element, their own style. People will relate to different people. There isn’t anyone who can be you, but everybody as their best selves adds another element. QUESTION What is one of your strengths?   Point #4: No End Game Danielle: It’s our nature to not give ourselves enough credit for what we’ve gone through. We are always a work in progress. Coach Val: If you have this thought of I’m done learning, you might not ever discover other areas of your life that you really love. Coach Ani: When it comes to you, there’s no end game. There will never come a point when you think ah, I nailed that part of me, I guess I’m done growing. QUESTION What do you love about learning and growing?   Point #5:  It’s On You Coach Ani:  It’s making yourself knowledgeable inside your business and learning whatever you need to know in order to be self-reliant. Coach Val: I think you have longevity when you figure things out. Danielle: You learn by doing. If you don’t learn how to do the basics of your business, you are always going to rely on someone else to make your business successful instead of owning that you are in charge of actually making your business successful. QUESTION What basics do you need to learn? Quote of the Week: “Our curse is our blessing.  As artists, we are creative and tell ourselves we can’t be this person or that person –  I’m not a numbers person, I’m not business savvy, I’m just in it for the art. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PRODUCTION Point #1: It Works if You Do Coach Val: Production is doing the actual work. The program’s working, the problem is, you’re not working. Coach Ani: So many students come into the program all hyped up and excited to make a lot of money. They get so amped up, it’s almost like a drug. After they leave, they say the program’s not working. The question becomes, are they doing the work? We’ve had so many artists go through our program and get such amazing results that you can no longer say this program doesn’t work QUESTION Where in your life do you throw in the towel before doing the work required? Point #2: BMS – The Business of Art Coach Val:  For most artists, what we do inside of BMS is so foreign. My brain doesn’t naturally go in the direction of how we teach things. NBR and color, on the other hand, are so natural for me. But the actual business side is so different. That’s why we have Mastermind, to keep you on track, to hold you accountable, and to keep that fire lit under your ass. Ani is so good at that and teaches the students in a systematized way. It’s an awesome way to hold you accountable where the system is all laid out for you, so if you start to slide off, you know where to come back. It’s a way to keep propelling yourself forward so you can continue your growth. QUESTION How are you doing with the business side of being an artist? Point #3: 30-Day Sprint Coach Ani: We now have what we call the 30-Day Sprint, and inside of that, we actually have five weeks of training. We have one week of the pre-30 days, and then the actual 30-Day Sprint. I have revamped the whole thing to where I’m requiring the entire network of 265 artists to participate in it. We realized this was so desperately needed when the artists would come into the network and not remember what do to, which kicked them into the overwhelm mode. When artists get to that place, many feel like failures. QUESTION What has been your experience of the 30-Day Sprint? Point #4: Power in Your Body Coach Val: Power is my least favorite topic because it’s the hardest one for me, and BODY is the one area that I tend to let slide because I take care of everyone else and put myself last. As I’ve gotten back into eating super healthy and working out consistently, I’ve noticed a big difference in myself. Power in your body has a trickle effect and is the foundation of everything else.  Coach Ani: Taking care of your body plays a huge role in your mentality. When I moved to California nine months ago, I stopped drinking soda and stopped eating fast food. Keeping up with your body and taking care of yourself is vital for us as artists because we’re standing and moving for twelve hours a day, as well as having to hold conversations with clients. Ours is not the easiest of jobs, and it is essential for us to take care of our bodies. QUESTION What one thing can you add to your life today to start taking better care of your body? Point #5: Tipping the Scales Coach Ani: When people hear the term profit, the very first thing that enters their mind is money. Everything’s about money to everyone. What we’ve seen inside the network, however, are artists making a shit ton of money, and inside of that, we’ve seen that although they’re making a ton of money, they have no Balance and their life is a shit show. Coach Val: I feel like you’re always tipping the scale. You’re wanting to go to work and make a profit, and as you’re doing that, your balance is going out of whack because you’re not taking time for yourself, your spouse, or your children. You have to reel yourself back in and ask yourself if its worth it. You get your balance back by putting up your boundaries and going from there. But I feel like it’s this constant tipping of the scales where rarely do you find yourself in that sweet spot. QUESTION How are you doing in the area of Balance? Quote of the Week: “What is it that you’re missing or lacking in your life? What can you do about it? I guarantee you can do something about it. Danielle, Val, and Ani have a conversation around the topic of Protection in this week’s episode of the Big Money Stylist podcast. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PROTECTION Point #1: Meltdown Territory Coach Val: When I hear the phrase “meltdown territory,” it means that you’re about to hit it. You’re not there yet, but you’re about to freak the fuck out and shit’s about to go sideways. Coach Ani: You’re about to hit rock fucking bottom. You’re not doing well, physically or emotionally. Danielle: Everybody has a bucket, and everybody has different levels to their bucket before they flip their lid. When I hear meltdown mode, if you have 17 levels before you hit meltdown mode, you’re at a 16.9, and you’re about ready to flip your lid. Sometimes when you flip your lid, that amount of emotion makes you reevaluate things to take the actions necessary to do what you’re supposed to be doing. QUESTION What happens to you when you enter meltdown territory? Point #2: Survival Mode Coach Ani: We’re constantly asking ourselves, “Is she in meltdown territory? Is he in meltdown territory?” Are they on the ledge? Did you talk them off the ledge? I think artists will understand it as burn out mode. They love their job so much that sometimes they grind and grind and grind, thinking it’s a good thing, when, in reality, it’s not actually serving them. Coach Val: We tend to measure success by how busy we are. And because we love doing what we do so much, it’s hard to tell people, no. In that space, you’re not producing your best work but rather just maintaining and keeping your head above water; you’re hanging on in survival mode. At that point, it’s not about doing your best work, and in this space, a lot of shit can go sideways. QUESTION What areas of your life are impacted when you find yourself in survival mode more often than not? Point #3: State of Implosion Danielle: Once you reach that state of implosion, you have to take a few steps back. It slows you down, which can be a good thing because it gets you to this place where you can finally do shit. But at the same time, you don’t want every growth point in your life to be measured based on explosions. You want to be able to recognize the signs early on, protect what you’re building, and take action before it explodes. It takes a lot of courage to do that. In my experience, that’s how I used to experience life – how both Garrett and I experienced life – through pain. Then I got to this point in life where I asked myself, “Why does every lesson in life have to be painful? I realized it was because I was choosing to take it to that painful point. As our businesses have grown, I’ve been trying to get to that place that is right before implosion. QUESTION What can you do to access growth without having to experience the pain of implosion first? Point #4: Addicted to Growth Coach Ani: What we’re training and teaching has never before been seen inside the hair industry. We’re also teaching and incorporating the Warrior’s Way of having balance across CORE4 (Body, Being, Balance, Business). Our students are super excited to go forward and learn this. They’re learning so much and they’re so fucking amped that they keep doing more and more. When they realize they don’t actually have any balance and that they might be going backward, I find myself having to get them to reel it back in. Danielle: You get addicted to the growth, and in being addicted, you keep piling it on, “I’m changing my mindset, I’m living this new way!” When in reality, they’re actually regressing. Just as life has times and seasons, so does progressing and moving forward. Coach Val: I get that because I’m addicted to the growth. We see results happen so fast that we don’t want to stop. At the same time, you look around and realize that you’re also fucking some shit up and you’ve got to reel it back in. QUESTION How do you know when you’ve reached the point where it’s time for you to slow down and reel it back in? Point #5: Letting Go Danielle: With everyone on the team, I feel we all have these seasons of craziness which is a signal to me that we have to readjust. The more we can slowly let go, the more we can grow, which I’ve experienced on so many levels. I used to think I was protecting my business by doing everything and micromanaging all of it. So many times a voice would come to me and say “you have to let it go.” My response? You can fuck right off. I’m not letting shit go.” When you’re addicted to that hustle and grind, the hardest thing is stepping back and saying I’m not the only one that is going to make this shit rise to the top. Ani: I’m just trying to protect BMS and get my head on straight. What I’ve noticed in BMS and in Warrior, is that protection is hardest for the single people because there is no “I should go home now and be with my family or my kids.” There’s none of that so grind mode is almost harder to get out of. Even when I go home, I almost feel guilty having that time off when there are things that need to get done, and if don’t do it, no one’s going to do it. QUESTION Where in your life do you know it’s time to start letting go? Quote of the Week: “Protect your words, protect yourself, protect your mindset, and respect yourself. If you lead with that approach, I think you’ll be surprised at how things are less emotional and more logical. Start off on the right foot by setting up your boundaries. If you’re a hairstylist, it’s not too late to go in and tell your boss what days and hours you’ll be working. Hold strong to it because the only person who is really going to let you down, is yourself.” — Danielle White “Boundaries can change as you evolve and change. If it’s not working for you anymore, adjust your boundaries. But remember, you have to be the one to do that, first and foremost, before anyone can show you that same respect. It starts and ends with you.” –Valerie Plunk “I’ve come to realize that I love working. I never have a problem with it. But then I’m like, shit, here I am teaching and training the Warrior’s Way to all of these women inside of BMS, yet I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t live this shit. I’ll remind myself, fucking Ani, you should probably learn to reel it in at some point. It is highly sought after with limited seating, thus making the enrollment process less than typical as well. It is extensive and is taken very seriously by the team. Coach Ani: BMS education is not normal: it’s hustle, grind, and commitment like never before, beginning with an intense three week lead up to the actual three-day event. Now we know what to look for in the applications that come in because we’ve gotten really clear on the different traits of those we want inside BMS,  who will be a good fit for us, and vice-versa. QUESTION Where in your life are your hustle and grind lacking power and commitment?   Point #2: Communication Styles Coach Ani: The way I message Danielle is the same way I message Garrett – brief and to the point. When I hired Morgan on as my assistant, I told her don’t be offended, I’m not trying to be a dick, but I’m a very direct person and my mind moves very quickly. Danielle: I can’t play that role with Garrett because I’m his wife. When I have done that in the past, he would spout back at me as if I were a dude, then I would say fuck you buddy and get irritated. Now, I reframe it as a question, “Would you like to do this?’ Underneath it, though, I’m thinking “we’re fucking doing this!” I put the two emojis with a heart and sometimes with a flame, and he responds: Yeah, love it babe, fist bump… instead of being mad. It’s all about the packaging and the pre-frame. QUESTION What different communication styles do you use with the most important people in your life?   Point #3: Hats, Lids, and Boxes Coach Ani: When you wear so many hats, something can trigger you. If you try to solve it while you’re upset and pissed off, you’re not actually going to get a great solution. I never speak out of anger. If I’m that angry, I know I need to take a step back and quiet down. I don’t curse, I don’t scream, and I don’t yell because you can never take any of that back. I reel it in, reframe it, let it go, and move forward. Danielle:  Everybody has their level before they reach the point of explosion. Garrett is 1-2-3 BAM!  –  whereas I have to go through 16 levels before I’ll flip my lid. If you have two people who flip their lid simultaneously, you can’t have a productive conversation and are no longer in a logical space. If I step back and compose myself, Garrett comes back down into his box, and we’re able to have a logical and somewhat productive conversation. QUESTION What is your go-to response when you get triggered?   Point #4: Visions and Targets Coach Ani: When you get clear on what you want and set a goal or target, in the beginning, it has to be specific. If you say, “I just want to have the perfect client,” or “I just want to have more money,” what does that actually look like for you? Everyone’s picture is going to be different – the perfect client for you may not be the perfect client for someone else, or the amount of money you want may look different for someone else. Get specific, and at the same time, be flexible. Danielle:  I don’t create some kind of a vision board; they’re messy and look like a five-year-old’s collage. Also, I’ve noticed my Vision will change, so if I’m stuck on what I’ve put on this board, that can hold me back. If I’m so focused on this “one thing,” what other opportunities am I missing out on? When people have a set plan and shit goes sideways, where the plan doesn’t pan out or come to fruition, it creates chaos and confusion in their lives, and they plummet. My take on it? Shift your plan and change your story. QUESTION Where in your world have you been so set on a particular outcome that you have missed or turned away other opportunities that have shown up along the way?   Point #5: Vulnerability Coach Ani: One of my biggest weaknesses is being vulnerable. Garrett told me that I have one of the best poker faces. It goes stone cold, stoic; that’s how I am feeling. But underneath, I know it’s a hurricane. Even when I start crying, my face doesn’t change. I’m a literal weeping statue. When it comes to my students telling me some of the gnarliest shit I have ever heard in my life, it’s poker face, and I can’t let it affect me Danielle: When you’re coaching individual students and they’re in a painful place, if you’re both in tears at the same time, you’ll get nothing done. There’s a time and a place when vulnerability sets the stage and melts the audience, but when you’re trying to get shit done, it’s not effective. It’s learning to use your superpowers as needed. QUESTION What are your feelings about vulnerability: Strength, weakness, or both? Quote of the Week: “Stay consistent, follow your heart and intuition, and be able to logically back it up. Shift your gears and start going in the direction you feel like you should be going. As you follow your plan, you never know what opportunities will open up along the way.” — Danielle White “I encourage you to look at what you’re doing right now inside of your life and business. If you recognize that you have put yourself into a box because “I thought I wanted to do this,” or “I’ve been focused on this one goal so much,” rearrange it, journal about it, meditate, and do whatever you need to do to get yourself out of that box.” –Anianne Rivera

For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..POWER In today's episode of Big Money Stylist, Danielle, Val, and Ani engage in an insightful conversation surrounding the topic of power, and how to successfully navigate the fine line that exists between power and entitlement. Point #1: Fine Line Between Power and Entitlement The ladies agree with Val who believes that “power is confidence in owning your shit and owning where you’re at.” While on the road to finding their power, Val believes that people tend to become a little too confident, which leads them to feel like things are owed to them. “That’s the slippery slope and fine line. We want to empower artists to live their best life and stand up for themselves, but sometimes, once they find their power, they start becoming a little lazy and entitled.” Ani: The entire point of BMS is to empower someone to move forward to a better place – a place they love, and a place that they’re completely obsessed with; that’s literally the entire point. Unfortunately, entitlement sometimes comes along with power.  Danielle: When it’s easy, people tend to take it for granted. If, for example, you’re an assistant and somebody paves the way for you a little bit, making your path easier, that’s when entitlement happens. QUESTION How do you know when you’ve crossed the line from power to entitlement? Point #2: Staying in the Loop Danielle is constantly reminding herself to “be humble, dial it back in, and do the work. I think it’s important to have a little bit of an ego to be able to push, teach, and move forward – to be able to do what we do – and then to be able to dial it back.” “If you get stuck in entitlement, you won’t necessarily grow; you’ll loop. You’ll feel like you’re growing fast, but you’re just doing loops. I’ve experienced where I thought I was moving forward because I was working hard, but ended up going in circles. I think a lot of people confuse putting in the time with doing the actual work.” QUESTION Where in your world do you feel like you’re staying in the loop – working like crazy, yet never moving forward? Point #3: Course Correction Ani can attest to the fact that Garrett’s course corrections can be a gnarly smack in the face; they’re not delightful and dainty, but swift, direct and to the point. One of the Warrior’s describes it this way: Whether I agree or disagree with what he’s saying, I tell him, hey, thank you. That’s literally the only way I can learn and grow. I then step back and ask myself, “If this is what he said to me, then what am I doing that’s making it come across like that?” Val: I’ll be caught off guard at first, but then I step back and look at it from his perspective. What am I doing? What is my role? I can’t change how anyone else is going to behave, but what I can change is myself and how I will react. Once you take on that accountability, it’s so freeing, so many more opportunities open up, and with that, there’s more room for growth. QUESTION How do you handle course correction? Are you open to feedback? Point #4:  Living in the State of Gratitude Opens Doors Ani: Val and I are always sharing our gratitude with Garrett and Danielle, not to ass-kiss, but to express gratitude for opening doors and giving us the choice to step through them. We’ve literally run through every single door, every single time. As Garrett and I were listing the top five students, gratitude was the #1 trait they each exhibited. When I see gratitude show up in our students, I know they’re going somewhere because of it. Val: When I’m in a state of gratitude, acknowledging the smallest things I’m grateful for – when I stay in that place of gratitude, so many more opportunities open up for me. I learned early on that when I begin complaining and wondering why I’m not as successful as another person, it doesn’t benefit me, so I never allow myself to go there. If your mindset doesn’t shift from complaining and entitlement to gratitude, more opportunities won’t open up for you and you’ll continue staying in that same loop. QUESTION Describe how you feel when you’re in a state of gratitude, versus how you feel when you’re in a state of entitlement. Point #5: Paint a Clear Vision After laying out the numbers and taking a thorough look at them, Garrett and Danielle made some commission changes at the salon recently. Val: I agree with Danielle when she talks about painting a clear vision of “if you just show up and do the art, then the rest of it will be taken care of.” I love that about our salon. I get to go there and do amazing hair, and everything else is handled for me. I don’t have to worry about the backend. There’s a price tag on that and I’ll happily pay it because I hate it so much. Danielle: I literally lost sleep over this. For Garrett and I, we’re in it too deep and will fucking figure it out – no matter what it takes. We’ve gone through the loop so many times that now, when we recognize we’re in it, we realize, alright, shit’s gotta change and we’ve got to collide. I think a lot of business owners will sacrifice themselves by continuing on, believing things will turn around. Yet, when they don’t turn around and they realize they’re fucked, everybody gets fired, and they close their doors. QUESTION How do you respond to change and collision when it’s unmistakably necessary? Quote of the Week: “Always dial it back in. Always be willing to be humble. Work hard. Live your life with the energy of gratitude. You’ll be surprised how doing little things like that will push you forward in life.” — Danielle White “Entitlement won’t help you grow, so don’t be entitled. Look at yourself. Be accountable. Nothing’s going to get handed to you. If you work for something, you will grow; that’s where you’ll find your power. The more it gets out there, the more copycats we have – but also the more eyes we have. We want people who are receiving NBR to have an amazing experience. That’s why we’re so protective of it. Ani: Why the fuck is Sally Sue training other people? This has been a week of “all eyes everywhere.” It’s not just all of our eyes and ears, it’s our students and artists as well. They have invested so much time, energy, blood, sweat, and tears into learning NBR and growing their business. QUESTION: What are you doing to protect the quality of the NBR brand? Point #2: Protecting Your Work Ani: We’re seeing artists who at one point in time were learning NBR from Danielle. They didn’t put in the work, started feeling entitled to something, and instead of thinking “I should do the work and get better,” they decided to make a “new” method and claim that it’s better, when in reality it’s the same fucking thing as NBR. Danielle: I used to lose sleep over this and I’d want to throw in the towel so many times. Now, it’s not just about me, it’s about the tribe we’ve built and all of our students. The only thing left to do is to protect, so we have a full-time lawyer on our team. As many copycats and crap that’s going on out there, and as much as we’re protecting it, my main goal is to focus on a quality experience.   QUESTION: How does doing the work protect you?   Point #3: Edit and Course Correct Val: I want my assistant to thrive and succeed, but I’m always looking at things from the perspective of looking out for my family. You have to remember that you’re running a business. With girls, everything gets so emotional, but it’s okay to say this isn’t working. If it’s not serving me or helping my business grow and I’m in the protective mindset, it’s easy for me to make non-emotional decisions. I’m constantly self-evaluating. If something’s not working, I course correct and change it. I never want to get comfortable, so I’m constantly cross-checking myself and editing so I can keep growing. QUESTION: Where in your life could you use some course correction and editing? Point #4: What Are Your Numbers Telling You? Danielle: So many stylists are so into the art that they don’t know their numbers and think they’re making more than they really are. We teach our students all the time that you have to know your numbers and that you can’t be that business owner who is ignorant. If you’re a salon owner and are merely breaking even, what’s the point? Ani: Garrett and Danielle came to us recently about the numbers with DKW. “Here are the numbers. This isn’t working and we have to course correct. This is what we’re going to do – you have the option to stay or leave. We want you to stay, so if you’re in, that’s great; if you’re out, we still love you.” That’s not something that’s easy for people or business owners to do, but is so necessary. QUESTION: Where in your life or business are you ignoring the numbers? Point #5: Protect Your Mindset Danielle: People listen to the voices in their head telling them all the reasons why they can’t do something, which keeps them small. It’s hard at first, but the ones who are willing to push through those voices are the ones that make it. Don’t ever doubt yourself, just push forward and protect your mindset. You have to get to a peaceful place inside of you, tune out the noise, and power through. It’s so important that you protect your mindset so that you don’t self-sabotage. QUESTION: What steps do you take to protect your mindset? Quote of the Week: “The topic of protection makes or breaks a lot of areas of your life. If you’re not protecting one area of your life and you’re falling short, it ultimately spills into every other area.” — Danielle White “If I give all of me wherever I am and protect that space, I feel like I succeed better.” –Valerie Plunk “A lot of times in life, we don’t think we’re worth it and we tend to keep playing small because of it. We had 350 artists inside of one room to learn NBR and to learn business systems and processes – and this all started with you making one choice 7 years ago. QUESTION: Looking back, what is one choice you have made that has entirely changed your life? Point #3: Reps Bring Success Danielle: We can only teach what we have experienced. You have to be willing to put in the work. I used to be that asshole who thought that all I needed was a new camera lens, then I'd be an amazing photographer. That's a starting point, but first, you have to actually commit, which is the biggest thing we stress at the events. You have to throw yourself in the mix and know that part of that is fucking it up, learning from that, and moving on. You can't put a price tag on experience and reps. We always tell our students – just get some reps under your belt with NBR, marketing, and photography. QUESTION: What one area of your life could use more reps? Point #4: Do the Work Coach Ani: We're not here to save you, we're here to help and guide and push you. The path has been paved. There are so many people that have walked that path and have succeeded. There's proof.  But if you have to be willing to do the work. Danielle: You have to let go of your ego and submit to whoever the teacher is at that moment. If you're taking a class and submit to the process, you will learn and grow more as an individual. You just will. I'm here, I'm going to do the work, I'm going to submit to the process, even when your ego steps in. If you submit, you will be successful. QUESTION: What area in your life are you committed to doing the work consistently? What are the results you want to achieve in that area?   Point #5: Grant Yourself Permission Danielle: Once we saw the amount of work both of our businesses had done, we knew it was doable, but we had to give ourselves permission to say, “This is the new version of me, we're not going back.” It forces you to level up your life even more. Ani: I used to think how cool it would be to have a convertible and drive it up and down PCH. That's all I ever wanted. I saw the Mazaradi, my dream car and I had this conversation with myself, “You can't do that, that's insane.” Then I said, “Wait, why can't I? I work hard, I live by the beach, this is what I've always wanted, don't I deserve it? Yes, you fucking do.” QUESTION: What is something you need to give yourself permission to do? They are each highly intuitive and deliberately take steps to protect the energy in their personal space. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week's Episode…..PROTECTION Point #1: Vibes Speak Louder Than Words Danielle: I'm super protective of the energy around me. I need to be protective of who I surround myself with because that energy can ultimately pull me back or push me forward. I feel that people who have the same vibe, positive energy, and vision that I do – that we're not stagnant but are pushing each other forward. Coach Val: Ever since I was little, I've been super in tune with vibes. My mom always told me to run with that, to listen to those vibes. What and who I surround myself with definitely affects me. It's the unspoken vibe of people: your vibe speaks louder and truer than your words. You have to be protective against people who don't fit in with your vibe and energy. QUESTION: Are the people around you pulling you back or pushing you forward? Point #2: Protect the Tribe Coach Ani: We're very protective inside everything at DKW and BMS. We're a family here and we never let shit go too sideways because we know it's so important to the entire tribe. I feel energy so deeply and can tell when someone is sucking the energy out of everyone around them. The energy of one can completely throw off the energy of everyone else.  Coach Val: We're super protective of that vibe in our salon and in our education programs. Our vibes are positive and moving forward, and they're all about growth. If you're not in tune with that, you're not going to be part of us. This is why we do interviews prior to people coming to class. We want to make sure we have the right fit so everyone can grow at the pace they need to grow, and that no one's holding anyone else back. QUESTION: How do you protect your tribe?   Point #3: It's a Matter of Heart Danielle: Everything on paper about Garrett says absolutely not, grab your shit and get out. Energy comes down to listening with your heart, and not your head. My mind is very powerful, but ultimately I know the one thing I can trust is my heart. Sometimes I'll choose the thing or the person that looks pretty on paper, and then later realize I should have gone with my heart.  Coach Ani: I was raised by a mother who is deep into energy. When BMS was under construction, early in the morning and late at night I would go into the space and talk to the walls, “I love you, we're going to build great shit, it's going to be amazing, we're going to change lives here, think of all the great shit we're going to do.” QUESTION: Where is there evidence in your life of following your heart?   Point #4: Protect Your Space Coach Ani: The shit that we deal with inside of our BMS Mastermind is really heavy. Garrett told me I have to find a way to protect my energy and space, and definitely never take that heavy energy home. Inside of this space – this big white bubble – it's me, my energy, and only my energy. People can come to the outside but I can't let them in and affect me, or I literally can't do my job. Coach Val: I'm super protective of my husband and kids and what I 'll allow around them. Sacred comes to mind, which spills into all aspects of my life. My kids get to learn life lessons at recess but, other than that, I'm controlling that shit. Danielle: I keep sacred the time that I have for myself and with my family. Whether I'm out with my kids or on a date with my husband, I buffer everybody else out to protect that space with them.   QUESTION: How do you protect your space?   Point #5: Warrior Women Coach Val: I received a message from a girl I grew up with: “You and your team are changing the world, and you're changing the lives of people in industries other than the hair industry. You inspired me to take a leap of faith and go after my dream.” This is why we're protective. In this week's episode of Big Money Stylist, Danielle and her team have a conversation about increasing profitability and productivity, and how sometimes you have to take a step back as an artist and ask yourself:  Am I as good as I can be? For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week's Episode.....PRODUCTION Point #1: Walk the Talk  Coach Val: Good for you-you've found your power, now you need to produce what you're saying you can actually do. In our arena, you have to be good at NBR. You can be good at finding your power and marketing, but that doesn't matter if your work is shit. We want artists to find their confidence, but you also need to have the skillset to back it up. Coach Ani: Inside of BMS and Mastermind, we have a really heavy focus on charging what you're worth, but here's the deal. Yes, we are here to empower people, but at the end of the day, you need to make sure that what you're charging, what you're having your clients pay, you're actually providing that amount of value to them. QUESTION: Take a look at your skillset: What are you actually producing? Point #2: Level Up Danielle: I remember when I decided to become more focused; when I decided to reclaim my power as an artist. I started comparing my work with the work I was seeing on social media and got curious about how I could fine-tune and level up my skills and craft to become the best at what I was doing. As far as being the best you can be behind the chair, you have to be able to back up what you're promoting. I would never want a client to sit in my chair or to be a part of my salon experience and feel underwhelmed. I'd rather have someone come and sit in my chair and say 'you guys are so much better in person!' QUESTION: Where in your life do you see that you need to level up? Point #3: Ego vs Confidence Coach Val: I feel there are two sides to the ego: the side that gives you the confidence to push through and keep going, and then the downside that actually stunts your growth. Coach Ani: The kind of ego that doesn't serve you is when you look at something and think you can automatically do it. Danielle: I think of Ego as the dickhead, where confidence is owning your power. You definitely want to have that confidence going into your work, but the ego is what drags you down; it's what takes something you could learn and grow from and keeps you stuck where you're at. QUESTION: What do you see inside of your life where maybe you're having a bit of an ego and not being realistic about the work that you're producing? Point #4: What is Your Why? Danielle: We're not looking to be platform artists to build popularity. We're looking to give our students results, we're looking to inspire them, we're looking to literally change the game; we're looking to get rid of old habits, patterns, and behaviors. For as long as I've been doing hair, being the celebrity stylist is not enough, making the kind of money I'm making is not enough, just teaching, in general, is not enough.  What is enough is knowing the impact we're making on so many people's lives. That's when you know we're doing some good shit. QUESTION: What is it that fuels you as an artist? Point #5: Growth Hounds Danielle: I have to constantly choose where to put up the blinders and where to focus, constantly reframe everything and ask myself, "What serves me"? Lately, I've been going into things asking myself if this isn't serving me, even if its a thought, how can I flip it to predict the outcome of my day?  Coach Ani: For me, it's doing constant things that make us better continuously. There's never a place where we feel stagnant - we're either moving forward or backward, there's never a place where we're just sitting still. Everyone here values growth so much that it's a constant push and hustle. QUESTION: What do you do to level up and improve? Quote of the Week: "Your marketing in front of the chair can only be as good as your magic behind the chair." -- Danielle White "We want you to charge what you're worth, but step back and take a good look: are you worth that? If not, what steps do you need to take to get to the price point that you feel confident in and that you are actually delivering that dollar amount of work - or over delivering, which is our end goal at DKW." -- Valerie Plunk "We always want all of our artists to  just be happy and to live a fulfilled life, having time with their family and not be stuck behind the chair six days a week and the one day you're off, doing laundry and napping. Danielle and her team have an in-depth and enlightening conversation around the topic of Capacity in this week's episode of Big Money Stylist, where the ladies share personal stories and experiences that have expanded their capacity as women and Artists. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week's Episode.....POWER Point #1: The Next Natural Step Danielle: We are capable of so much more than we allow ourselves. Once we push through a certain threshold, all of a sudden what was scary becomes the new norm. You change your capacity as a human being by being willing to put yourself in the right direction and throw yourself in front of the fire, learn and grow from it and continue to move on. Coach Val: When you're willing to get out of your comfort zone and keep pushing through your threshold, it's like the next natural step, a natural progression. Taking a step each day furthers your capacity to take on more and more in the name of growing to become a better version of yourself. QUESTION: How do you personally push through thresholds? Point #2: Triggers Danielle: We can be triggered when someone says or does something and it just drives you nuts. Maybe it's something about the “old you” and you just don't want to go back there. If I don't want to be that person, how do I step out of my comfort zone and become the newer, better version of myself? With triggers, you have to learn how to deal with them because triggers cause you to lose your power and you are no longer standing in the highest version of yourself. Coach Ani: What are you being triggered by and how are you responding to those triggers? Are you shrinking back and immediately going to a smaller version of yourself, or are you pushing forward to make your bucket bigger; to grow, expand and make your capacity even more, so that you can continue pushing through? QUESTION: How do you respond to triggers? Point #3: Growing or Shrinking? Coach Ani: Inside of DKW and BMS, we have such a large capacity that we are always pushing ourselves towards constant growth. Coach Val: When I'm around Coach Ani or Danielle, I want to play to the biggest version of myself because their capacity is inspiring to me. I always want to level up and not be left behind. Danielle: When we train people and hold space for people to grow, it allows them to become who they were meant to be. When you're training someone, you want to hold the frame for them to enable them to grow with you. You have to have everybody moving in an upward motion. QUESTION: How can you contribute to an environment of growth in your personal and business relationships? Point #4: From I Can't to I Can Danielle: People inside the network put walls up and say, "I can't fathom this." It's achieved in baby steps. Just entertain the idea and from there, see what happens. I feel women, especially, tend to have to have the whole thing mapped out from A-Z before taking action, which is why a lot of women get overwhelmed and say "I can't." Coach Ani: I feel like I've said those words, too. I'm not *that* person to do that, that's for somebody else. If I keep telling myself it's for somebody else, I'm somebody else for somebody else. I can be an inspiration to show someone else, but I have to get my head out of my ass and just do it. QUESTION: What are you saying "I can't" to in your life? Step back from that and simply entertain the thought of "I can" and see what happens. Point #5: Baby Steps Coach Val: For me it's all about baby steps. I'm going to do this and see where this takes me. I say yes, do it scared and just keep doing little baby steps even if I don't have everything planned out. Danielle: All we have to do is entertain the thought and take baby steps, and the next thing you know you have a different life and you're a different person. It's so silly that we play small. Once we begin opening each new door, I'm still me but look how much I've learned and grown. QUESTION: What door is right in front of you that you are afraid to step through?   Quote of the Week: "I had always felt like I wasn't a speaker or a trainer -  that I was just little shy Danielle -  until I attended a Tony Robbins event a couple of years ago. The turning point for me came when he introduced himself: "Hi. I'm Tony Robbins and I created this shit." It got me thinking about what I could create in my life, and who I could become, realizing that I'm the one who gets to create whatever I want in my life." -- Danielle White "If you hear that little tiny whisper in your head, listen to that guy because he's going to get louder. The sooner you listen to it - the sooner you start taking your steps and start growing - the sooner your capacity is going to grow and you're going to become that bigger, better version of yourself." -- Valerie Plunk "For me - moving from the midwest to Cali -  my first step was: if you were going to do it, where would you live? What would that look like? What else would I need? I literally took it step by step because I am *that* person. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week's Episode.....PROTECTION Point #1: Sharing is Not Always Caring Over a ten year period, Danielle created a brand called Natural Beaded Rows. In the beginning, "sharing was caring," but there came a point in time when it became imperative for Danielle to protect the brand she had spent years creating and perfecting. She also realized the importance of protecting the experience of her client by doing away with her shadowing program. "I try to look at anything I do from the perspective of the client. If I was booking an appointment at a high end salon, what would I want my experience to look like?" QUESTION: How are you protecting the experience of your clients? Point #2: Are You in Alignment? There was a period of time in Danielle's life when she and her husband felt the need to protect their marriage and family by distancing themselves from and letting go of relationships that were no longer serving them, instead creating new relationships that aligned with their vision. You meet people in your life that help you connect from point A to point B. Once they stop serving you in a good way or adding any positivity to your life, you have to step back and ask yourself if it's worth trying to fix, or if it's time to move on. QUESTION: Look inside your life and inside your circle of influence - the people you're constantly around. Is there someone you know you need to be protecting yourself from? Point #3: Protecting the Client Danielle: Because I wear NBR extensions in my hair, when I hear stories on social media of salons using knock off versions of NBR and making scalps bleed, I'm like what the fuck! I can't even stand it. We have to protect our brand with the client because we're delivering a different service, a different product and a different experience than what's found outside of our salons. Jillian: I think it's disrespectful to the client if you don't know what the hell you're doing. We ask the people in our Mastermind to do 15 minutes of power practice every day which shows dedication to their clients and to their craft. Ani: When clients come and sit in our chair, they're trusting us to put our hands in their hair, to put chemicals in their hair, to change shit up and to really make a big difference for them, which makes their experience a top priority for us. QUESTION: Are you really giving your clients the best experience you can? Are you treating them the way you would want to be treated? Point #4: Churn and Burn No More Danielle: The retention of a client is becoming a lost and forgotten art in the hair industry. When you have the mindset of churn and burn, what the fuck does that say to your client? It says you don't give a shit about them. When you up the game and up the experience, not only is your client going to be happy, she's going to tell other people about her experience. At DKW Salons, one of the ways we protect ourselves, our brand and our clients is by creating a connection and killer experience for them right from the very start. We do this by paying close attention to the details before and after their appointment, we send follow up emails and reach out to them to see how they're doing. Creating an amazing client experience is a top priority for us. QUESTION: What systems do you have in place that focus on Client Retention and the Client Experience? Point #5: Winds of Change Danielle: We're rebirthing stylists to a new level. No more crappy routines and behaviors and all that shit that doesn't serve you. We're getting rid of all these bad habits and routines and putting stylists more on a pedestal. Ani: We're changing the game. We've literally taken the hair world and flipped it upside down. What we do is not normal, it's not seen and it's super intense. Having an emphasis on having a skill is not enough anymore. The road leading to DKW may not have made a lot of sense to others, but for Coaches Val, Ani and Jillian it made perfect sense. It was definitely a step back for Coach Val, but she saw the clear vision from the get go, put her ego aside and dove in despite people around her questioning her choice to leave a full clientele and move to Laguna Beach to become an assistant working on commission. Coach Ani likes to look at her path as a parallel route. "This is the road I was on, I stepped off of it and went to the road next to it that could lead me higher and farther." With Coach Jillian's decision to go back to assisting, it may have seemed like a step back to some, but for Jillian it aligned with her vision. QUESTION: Where in your life has a door opened for you that looks like a step back, but will ultimately catapult you forward? Point #2: Ruthless Commitment Brings Major Profit Coach Ani knows that at the end of the day it all comes down to your commitment to change your life. "If you're not willing to do anything with the tools we've given to you, what do you expect from us at that point? You've got to put in some kind of effort." Coach Val knows the longer you stay committed to what you want, the faster you'll see results. She's loving the results in her life due to her ruthless commitment. Coach Jillian eats, lives and breathes her dream. She wakes up everyday with the attitude of "this is what I fucking want, and I know who I have to be in order to see the results I want." QUESTION: Where are you lacking ruthless commitment in your life? Point #3: Passion: Love on Another Level Coach Ani: My true heart and soul passion is training inside of BMS. That's my happy place. It's what I know I'm supposed to do. If it was taken away from me, that would crush my soul and a part of me would die. For Coach Val, passion is love on another level. "No matter what other roles I take on around me, I still have to have time behind the chair as an Artist. I need that artistic outlet doing color and the NBR extensions that I love so much because it feeds me." QUESTION: What feeds your soul?   Point #4: Accountability Not Blame Coach Jillian always used to feel like a victim and thought that everything was happening to her. "I looked back in my life and started taking accountability for my actions and seeing my part in all of it. My dreams have come true in such a short amount of time because I had the courage to look inward and began changing who I was being." Coach Val: It is so freeing to have accountability. You never have to have that victim mentality. You can't change anyone else's actions but what you can change is how you show up and what you deliver. QUESTION: Where in your life are you not seeing the profit that you want to see because you have not committed to anything, you haven't found your passion or you're pushing it away? Point #5: Vision Quest Coach Ani: Something that we do inside BMS is what we call Vision Quest where we sit on the beach and ask ourselves: Who do you want to be 12 months from now? Who is that person? What does she look like? How does she talk and walk? What is her job? What is she doing? Coach Val: Because I am so clear on my vision, every decision that I make is leading me to pave the way for other people to come in and live that vision themselves. It's because of this vision that I will stop at nothing to make sure it comes to fruition. QUESTION: What vision do you have for yourself that you are ruthlessly committed to?   Quote of the Week: "The profit of me living out my passion in each of these areas of my life is this beautiful life that I am very protective of. If something is not serving me or going towards the passions of my life, then it's not a part of my life. More often than not, we are expected to work six days a week, are thought of as hobbyists and not taken seriously, and for many the belief is widely accepted that people choose hair as a career because they are too fucking stupid for anything else. QUESTION: What are some of the stories you believe that are simply not true, but are widely accepted as true? Point #2: Tell Me a Story The stories that seem to affect us the most are the stories we create about ourselves. Coach Ani describes stories as "a layer of made up bullshit that you tell yourself over and over again." We don't know where they come from, why or how they start, but one day you tell yourself something, decide to fucking stick with it and pretty soon you have allowed that story to shape and define your life. Whether it was breaking an engagement and moving to California, teaching on a stage in front of 300 Artists at a convention, feeling 'worthy' to increase prices, or deciding to stop working Saturday's, each of the ladies have overcome and rewritten their stories, which has enabled them to get out of their own way and create a life they love. QUESTION: Where in your life are you putting off rewriting a story that isn't serving you? Point #3: The Lies we Believe Our stories impact every part of our lives. How many times have you told yourself: I'm not worthy, I'm not good enough, that's for someone else, not me. We get so much inside of our heads that we begin downplaying ourselves and live in a state of victimhood, and in the process we give away all of our power.  Oft times stories are wound up so tightly inside of us that we can begin projecting them onto others until they believe them, too. Garrett repeated the story so often that Danielle didn't want to have sex, that she actually started believing it was true. The voices and the stories inside our head are so much stronger than the truth of what really is. QUESTION: How often do you downplay yourself by telling yourself you're not worthy or you're not good enough? Point #4: Stuff or Stack? We have the ability to make life stressful or beautiful and zen. What do we do to remain in power when we get triggered or when things go south; when we start making stories up about the people and experiences in our lives? How do we handle our feelings rather than stuff them deep inside of us to handle "later?" Coach Ani uses a powerful tool each day called the Stack which is a series of questions designed to move her through these feelings and to see the story from different angles. By the end of her Stack, she has gained clarity, power and solutions. Coach Val is the queen of reframe where she is able to have conversations with herself and see things from many perspectives until  she can find something positive to move her forward instead of staying stuck in a story. QUESTION: When you get triggered what do you do to return to a place of peace and power? Point #5: The Power of Choice is Yours Coach Val: I know it is always my choice. If there is something not going well, I would rather blame myself and come up with a solution than blame anyone else. I can fix me. I can fix my mindset and my mood, and that is so freeing. What is so beautiful to realize is no one has any control over anything you do, except for you. Coach Ani: At the end of the day, everything is up to me: the life I want to live and the choices I make. If I want to live at the beach, that is my choice and I will have to work fucking harder than I ever have. If I don't want to get married, it's my choice. If I choose to get married knowing that something is wrong, that is also my choice. I have the power of choice over everything in my life. And so do you. In This Week's Episode.....POWER Point #1: Belief in Yourself Behind and in Front of the Chair Danielle: Having a niche, owning your niche and being good at your craft creates power. The belief you have about yourself has an impact on your ability to produce. When I began my career in a small, rural town in Arizona, I believed there was a cap on my earning potential until I had one of those light bulb moments that created a shift within me. When I gained my power and realized the power of marketing, my business began to explode. Coach Ani: Most stylists are stuck in the box of what they believe they can and can't charge based on where they live and what everyone else is charging. It just takes one person finding their power and saying, "Fuck these rules, I'm not doing this! I'm going to make it up as I go because it doesn't matter!" This leads the way for others to do the same. QUESTION: Do you currently have limiting beliefs surrounding your income limitations or capabilities? What are they?   Point #2: It's an Inside Job Everything begins with a shift and story inside of you which oft times won't happen until you're mirrored back a new reality by individuals around you who show you what could be possible. This is exactly what the Big Money Stylist experience is and what the NBR tribe is all about. Valuing yourself by saying 'no' raises the bar and creates a powerful place within yourself and your business. Coach Ani shares her inspiring "sink or swim-no means yes" BMS journey and how she chose to make massive moves in her business, moves that first began taking place inside her own head. One by one, she began letting go of the stories: "You're supposed to take on all the clients, offer all the services - you're supposed to do everything! What are you thinking? You're turning away money!"   QUESTION: Who do you believe yourself to be? Who must you become in order to be, do, and have what you want?   Point #3: The Toleration Game Your life and your business are a result of what you choose to tolerate. There's a toleration game within how stylists and artists are treating themselves, what they have determined is the 'right' thing to do, what they have decided is the accepted modus operandi, and what is 'artistically correct.' So many stylists get stuck in the sacrifice game in the name of making money. Your power is obtained by what you're committed to and drained from what you tolerate. Your life cannot become more than you tolerate.             QUESTION:What are some ways you are stuck in the Sacrifice            Game by playing the Toleration Game?   Point #4: Reversing the Frame The entire industry has been built to teach stylists to go to powerlessness. The highest form of dysfunction inside the game of being an artist is where you don't listen to your own voice anymore - where the client begins dictating your direction. Coach Ani used to be at the beck and call of her clients until she reversed the frame and began seeing herself as the prize. She took control of who she allowed to sit in her chair by setting up an in depth application process, which garnered greater respect from her clients as well as creating a thriving business environment on her terms. The empowerment she felt and experienced in her business bled into all aspects of her personal life.   QUESTION: Where in your business will reversing the frame change the game for you?   Point #5: Create a Life That Actually Matters to You There are things you are tolerating that need to become intolerable to you. At the top of Coach Ani's list of intolerable's: tardiness and being on call for your clients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Finding your own power and letting go of bullshit results in turnarounds, breakthroughs, explosive business success, and peace & calm in artists' lives. Create a game and creation inside your artistic place that not only pays you what you're worth, but lets you enjoy your life outside of what you do in the business.   QUESTION: What are the top five things (behaviors, obstacles) you are tolerating inside your business - in front of and behind your chair - that if they became intolerable, your business would completely explode?   Quote of the Week: "I would get to this place of burnout and say, 'No, I don't want to be there. In today's episode Garrett made the realization that even if he may  not agree with another person's decision that they make in their life, like getting permanent tattoos with buddies while drunk after a successful Big Money Stylist even for his wife's hair salon that he co-owns, he also doesn't judge them for making their choices.
