Description: This episode of “Some Stutter, Luh!” podcast welcomes Alex Delgado, a writer and a person who stutters shares his story of transitioning from being a covert stutterer to embracing open stuttering. Listen to Alex's story that highlights the importance of community, creativity, and a mindset shift in overcoming the stigma associated with stuttering. In this episode: 00:00 Intro 01:05 About Alex Delgado 05:06 Stuttering Support Group 08:27 The Interview! 12:38 Why did you decide to become an open stutterer? 20:55 Train Wreck vs Wonderful Experience of Stuttering 23:40 Alex and the Stuttering Support Group 25:59 Alex is a writer 30:03 Thank you! Notes: Alex discusses his ambition to be influencer on YouTube, where he provides advice and share experiences with other stutterers. Through self-discovery and connecting with others, Alex realized the importance of authenticity and made a conscious effort to embrace open stuttering. He now openly discloses his stutter in conversations and has found that this not only reduces his anxiety but also empowers him to face challenges with greater confidence. Alex advocates for reframing stuttering as a unique trait rather than a limitation. Referring to the book Beyond the Fear of Stuttering by Mary Wood, it is emphasized how a mindset shift, such as reframing "train wreck speaking experiences" as "wonderful moments of stuttering," can help transform one's perspective. Alex delved into the psychological dimensions of stuttering, emphasizing how emotional states like stress and anxiety can exacerbate fluency issues. He stresses the importance of building a supportive community and shifting the narrative around stuttering from one of struggle to one of strength and uniqueness. Alex considers his participation in the Stuttering Support Group on Discord a significant aid in embracing and accepting his stutter. He also shares his passion for writing, mentioning his current projects, including a mystery novel and an anthology of short stories. He has published some of his short stories online on Inkitt. Join Tamara for an interview with Jason Bible, an Americana and rock singer-songwriter and instrumentalist who was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He began performing and recording music in the 90s - singing and playing guitar and harmonica. He left Texas and moved to Savannah in 2001 (due to a "banking issue"), and immediately began playing multiple shows a night, focusing on bars on River Street, and eventually out on the islands. In 2005 he formed the band The Train Wrecks, who are still going strong today. Nowadays you can catch Jason playing solo, with The Train Wrecks, *and*, recently, out playing Nirvana covers with his teenage son Jack. This week's show is with Maggy Whitehouse. Maggy Whitehouse is an independent sacramental minister, a lifetime student of Judaeo-Christian mysticism, the author of 20 books on spirituality, mysticism and Bible metaphysics and started out as a stand-up comedian at the age of 56. She was a finalist in the 2015 UK Funny Women Awards. Maggy has worked in newspapers, radio, TV, for the BBC's famed World Service and, most recently, was Sunday morning faith presenter for BBC Radio Devon. She made it on to Wikipedia after writing a sensible book about Opus Dei at the time of all the palaver over The Da Vinci Code. She has been widowed, divorced, healed from cancer, worked as a hospice chaplain, ridden on a Bengal tiger and survived a barracuda attack off the Barrier Reef. Both Maggy's mother and her Bishop think she should get a proper job. In this show, Lian and Maggy explored resistance, specifically through the lens of how it shows up in the form of temptations to avoid expressing our soul's truth, how we can tell when it's showing up (by design it's sneaky), and how we can learn to orient back to our souls and God. I'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment below. What you'll learn from this episode: Noticing your ‘Should's and ‘Yes but's… they are clues to resistance showing up Make your connection to the Divine a priority, do it first and often, 30 seconds of meditation, lighting a candle, going to your altar, speaking a prayer… a little goes a long way to taking you back to your soul Let the light of your own unique soul be that which helps others to navigate back to theirs Resources and stuff that we spoke about Maggy's Website that you can check out: maggywhitehouse.com treeofsapphires.com Listen to Maggy's podcast: Train Wrecks for Jesus. Both Maggy's mother and her Bishop think she should get a proper job. In this show, Lian and Maggy explored the importance of our relationship to God for those of us in the work of serving as healers (whether or not we call ourselves that) - how we as wounded healers need to go to the source of the wound we have about God in order to heal it, the different ways this wounding shows up, and that can be revealed in what we will and won't call God (which informed the very naming of this show!). I'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment below. What you'll learn from this episode: Maggy's story of her late husband and how it wounded her was such a clear example of how we can experience disconnection from God, not everyone's story will be as obvious as this but it doesn't mean the wound isn't there Becoming aware of how we perceive we are being punished or abandoned by God, and understanding that it isn't what's truly happening, means we can begin to heal our relationship What are the words for God that you feel uncomfortable with or feel a strong negative reaction to? You can use this as an enquiry into where the wound might be. "Things started out well, but almost immediately went off the rails." "We ran into an unforeseen problem that's going to add nearly 6 months to our timeline.." Now what? Isn't this just how life works? You have a plan, and it almost immediately goes off the rails, into the weeds, and you have to pivot, regroup, and figure out what to do to achieve the desired results. HOW DOES ONE DO THAT? is the burning question, and in this episode, Jennifer Glass, Daniel McCraine, and Patricia Reszetylo discuss just how to do that. It could be a new government edict, uncooperative weather, or any of a vast number of other issues - things change all the time, and it's often something you couldn't have imagined. As it turns out, this is what entrepreneurs thrive on. Here is the framework we came up with: [00:01:21] Entrepreneurship requires resilience and adaptability. [00:05:08] Acknowledge, reframe, change, decide, cut losses. [00:07:36] Creativity thrives in chaos, private out let is essential. [00:11:50] Entrepreneurs turn challenges into opportunities, stay positive. [00:15:14] Realistic mindset is crucial for success. [00:19:08] Identify goals and motivations for success. How do YOU manage when adversity strikes? Here are some questions for you to answer for yourself: 1. Have you ever experienced a day where everything seemed to go wrong? How did you deal with it? 2. How do you usually realize when something isn't going your way? 3. What strategies do you use to stay focused and positive when faced with challenges? 4. How do you determine if it's time to pivot or cut your losses in a project? 5. Have you ever had to change your trajectory to achieve your goals? How did you do it? 6. How do you handle frustration and anger when things go off the rails? 7. Can you share a time when frustration and anger helped you find a solution to a problem? 8. What steps do you take to regain control and find alternatives when working with someone else? 9. How important is it to have backup plans or alternative strategies in your business? 10. What techniques do you use to vent your frustrations and keep a positive mindset in challenging situations? My special guests today are Eddie Paul and Chris "Freight Train" Floyd, bandmates from The Mighty Train Wrecks! Nashville's own, The Mighty Train Wrecks, was built around the original songwriting and vocal harmony blend of Eddie Paul and Chris "Freight Train" Floyd. A formative four-year residency at the iconic Bobby's Idle Hour on Music Row cemented their reputation as a band worth seeing. Since 2014 they have delivered original, high-octane, and soulful Americana music to appreciative audiences. Along the way, they have garnered successes like being featured in an interview on the renowned WSM AM 650 radio show with Devon O'Day, WDVX's Blue Plate Special, and three times on Channel 4, WSMV's Today In Nashville Show. The Wreck's musical ethos is a mix of Jimmy Rodgers, Merle Haggard, Grateful Dead, and The Band, leavened by a sprinkling of Little Feat and Muddy Waters. Freight Train and Eddie look forward to entertaining your audience as a duo, trio, or fiery five-piece! Stay tuned, as a sophomore CD project, with all new songs, will be available soon! The internet is full of information regarding the red flags of dating. Since this knowledge is widely available, why do men still end up in relationships with toxic women? The uncomfortable truth is that -- for a lot men -- it's not so much that they act in spite of the red flags, but that they act because of them. Secure, emotionally-stable, high-functioning men do not tend to end up with train wrecks. Using my own experience, in this episode I speak to how men are complicit in their own undoing when they refuse to acknowledge and heal their emotional wounding. “The primary source of unconscious priming…is your conscious experience.” Our consciousness is where we bring everything together, where we integrate and form a rich integration of our experience. This result is that this experience gets spread out to all the processes of the mind which is pivotal to how priming, an unconscious effect, actually works. John Bargh is a researcher and professor at Yale University and is probably the leading researcher on behavioral priming and has been studying this topic for almost 40 years. Not only that but he is a long term friend of Behavioral Grooves Podcast. In this episode with John, we explore with him both the past and future of priming as well as some of the controversies surrounding it. “The more important the goal, the more primable it is” Topics (4:36) Welcome and speed round questions. (7:50) Why priming gets a bad rap. (13:01) What exactly is a prime? (16:17) Where does future research in priming need to go? (19:46) How does priming differ from expectation theory and the placebo effect? (22:33) How is framing not priming? (24:07) What is the summation of experience? (32:02) The stupid reason John went into social psychology. (40:51) What the meta analysis studies on priming have found. (45:50) Science communication: how to tell the good science from the bad. (49:03) The importance of podcasting to bridge the gap between science and people. Life in the late 1800's was frequently just inexplicably tragic, as Edward Augustus Boardman and Catherine Fitzsimmons discovered in their lives together. Though they had financial success, attempting to raise children was nearly the end of them emotionally. The plans we have aren't always what God has in mind for us. As hard as we try, sometimes we are just called to go through things. Such was the life of the Boardman family from Golden, Colorado. (

Yesterday was the ninth day of testimony in the murder trial of Curtis Reeves, the retired Tampa SWAT Captain who shot and killed Chad Oulson in a local movie theater in January 2014 after the two men had a verbal altercation that became physical. The defense presented only a single witness, whose testimony consumed the entirety of the jury's day—defendant Curtis Reeves, himself. Over the course of the day, 79-year-old Reeves was subject to a full two hours of direct questioning by Defense Counsel Richard Escobar, then another two full hours of cross-examination by Prosecutor Scott Rosenwasser, and finally a brief 10-minute re-direct by Escobar. The bottom line: Not only did the prosecution, already far short of disproving Reeves' claim of self-defense beyond a reasonable doubt, not make progress towards achieving their burden of proof necessary for a legally meritorious conviction, they spent their two hours on cross-examination of Reeves flailing around pointlessly and actually losing ground on a guilty verdict. This is a remarkable failure from a prosecution that has had, in effect, two chances to cross-examine this defendant at length and in minute detail—meaning at both the self-defense immunity hearing in which Reeves testified in 2017, and again yesterday—without managing to use that opportunity to advance their narrative of guilt in this case.It was, in fact, a humiliating performance for Prosecutor Rosenwasser.Popcorn Shooter Trial Day 9: Reeves Testifies, Prosecution Train Wrecks on Cross, & Defense Restshttps://lawofselfdefense.com/podcast/popcorn-shooter-trial-day-9-reeves-testifies-prosecution-train-wrecks-on-cross-defense-rests/POPCORN BUNDLE! Keri and Carter are joined by Alex Miceli and Mystery Chris for a pop-culture infused Friday Covfefe Break. Keri begins the show with a discussion of the propagandist tactic of preemptively undermining a counterargument, which Carter likens to the classic "poisoning the well" fallacy (although it is a different tactic). This leads to a discussion about the importance of definitions and the purpose of language. Next, they discuss problems that arise when medical professionals prioritize avoiding offending trans patients instead of prioritizing biological reality. They touch on the Olympics and Scarlett Johansson's lawsuit with Disney, observing that the most irrelevant trivialities seems to be newsworthy to the corporate press. The other guests then explain to Carter how the new "Masters of the Universe: Revelation" series is a festering necrosis on the beloved He-Man franchise, made possible by Kevin Smith's dishonest bait-and-switch tactics. After lamenting over how modern writers "murder beloved franchises and wear their carcasses around" (thanks, Pirate Queen for the imagery!), they turn to California's recall election and note that candidate Larry Elder will be dismissed as "not politically black" by the social justice left. Finally, they analyze how female lead characters in modern films such as Mulan are flat and lack relatability as compared to Sarah Connor in Terminator 2 or Ripley in Aliens.
