In this episode of the ZenOne Podcast, host Tiger Safarov engages with Daniel Jimenez and Marvin Rodriguez, who share their unique journey from corporate environments to running private dental practices. They discuss the challenges of implementing change in the dental industry, the importance of defining success, and the role of technology and data in modern dentistry. The conversation also delves into the nuances of insurance, particularly Medicare and Medicaid, and how these can impact practice profitability. The trio emphasizes the need for a strong support team and the potential for growth in private practices, while also addressing the realities of private equity in the dental field. Takeaways The transition from corporate to private practice can be challenging but rewarding. Defining success in dentistry varies greatly among practitioners. Implementing change in established practices requires patience and strong leadership. Technology and data can significantly enhance operational efficiency in dental practices. Understanding the differences between Medicare and Medicaid is crucial for practice success. A strong support team is essential for managing multiple practices effectively. Private equity may not always align with the goals of private practice owners. Efficiency is key to profitability, especially in Medicaid practices. Common sense practices can lead to better patient outcomes and satisfaction. Continuous learning and adaptation are vital in the evolving dental landscape. Augie Sanchez was the last American to beat Floyd Mayweather. In the amateurs, before losing out in the 1996 Olympic box-offs, Sanchez also defeated the late Diego Corrales and was one of the finest amateurs in the country. In the pros, and after signing for Top Rank, he and Mayweather appeared to be on a collision course but it never happened. Instead, he boxed the likes of Naseem Hamed, Jorge Paez, Daniel Jimenez and Luisito Espinosa. Augie retired young and after just 28 fights. He is now a popular and highly-regarded trainer in Las Vegas, where he lives with his childhood sweetheart, Dawn, and their children.
On this episode I enlist the help of Rene LeBlanc & Tara Berrie to help me answer listener questions that cover a broad cross section of interests from how to evaluate lithium projects to the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act to where price may be heading. Patricia Stark is on one Santa Barbara's jewels of journalism. For 30 years she served as the faculty advisor for The Channels, Santa Barbara City College's award-winning newspaper. She brought her tough, fiery brand of journalism to multiple generations of students — and became one of the most respected and beloved teachers in the college's history. In this podcast, Stark talks about the importance of student media, explains her teaching method and the ways she learned from her students. Molina was one of Stark's students and he shares some of his memories, including Stark's "I guess I am gonna have to give a lecture on how to read a phonebook," moment that forced him to work harder. Stark got her start working for the Contra Costa Times and recalls her time working as a reporter. She grew up poor in White Castle, Louisiana, the youngest of six children. Her mother went to the third grade, and her father went to the 7th. In addition to teaching for 30 years, Stark is married to her husband Bill, and they have two children. Stark and Molina also recall some of the many names of students who have gone through the program, including the "heyday" of the mid-1990s, including Daniel Jimenez, Joshua Fischer, Maja Johnson, Elise Johnson, Kristiana Bertelsen and more. This podcast is a great window into one of the greatest journalism minds of our era and someone who has had a profound and long-lasting impact on thousands of students. Most of the goods we purchase travel across the oceans in steel containers aboard the largest ships ever to sail the seas. But the pandemic and ensuing lockdowns knocked the wind from their sails and disrupted the entire global shipping network, causing supply shortages and soaring shipping costs. IMF economist Yan Carrière-Swallow has studied the macroeconomic impact of shocks to ocean freight, and in this podcast, he says shipping costs are an important driver of inflation around the world. Transcript: https://bit.ly/3GjIdxD Yan Carrière-Swallow is coauthor along with Pragyan Deb, Davide Furceri, Daniel Jimenez, and Jonathan Ostry, of Shipping Costs and Inflation available at IMF.org.

VENTURE by Daniel JimenezBorn into a strange and cruel world, a brother and a sister try to make the most out of the unfair hand they were dealt. With both parents dead and a giant as their surrogate father, they attempt to find their place in the world. Soon they would find that trying to fit in is the least of their problems when a deadly secret from the past jeopardizes their future. As a first-generation Mexican–American, Daniel Jimenez was born and raised in Houston, Texas, under divorced parents. With the difficulties of growing up in a split household, Daniel found comfort in making up stories in his free time. Stories he would conjure up in the span of months to even years. It wasn't until he decided to go out on a whim and pick up a pen and paper that he found a passion for writing.https://www.writersrepublic.com/bookshop/venturewww.danieljimeneztheauthor.com http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/djimenezwr.mp3

My guest is Daniel Jimenez ex SQM and currently running his own advisory firm, iLi Markets (ilimarkets.com). Recorded less than two weeks before the Chilean Presidential election runoff - described as the most divisive in the country's history. We discuss potential impacts of the election on the lithium industry depending on whether the winner is from the right or the left. At minute 14, we begin a discussion of the Atacama & the current & future production of both SQM & Albemarle from the world's premier brine asset. We we also review the reasons for SQM lagging the pricing results of most competitors. Spoiler alert – we both expect that situation to change. We also ponder Albemarle's long & winding road in ramping up production from expansions in Chile. We move on to a discussion of global supply & demand. Daniel's 2021 & 2022 total demand numbers are higher than mine but not drastically so. Daniel provides his thoughts on the potential for new lithium projects in Chile as well as DLE before moving on to the potential & challenges for the EU & North America to supply a significant percentage of their future lithium demand. We cover the recent rise of Chinese investment in South American lithium projects. Will recycling contribute significantly to lithium supply before 2030? Solid state batteries & the potential impact on what lithium raw material requirements. Rapid fire. Daniel can be found on Twitter @D_Jimenez_Sch

Adam Smith talks with Dr Aida Gonzalez, Dr Daniel Jimenez both from University College London and Julieta Camino the University of East Anglia. Three panellists who all come from a clinical background and now find themselves working as academics. This week we explore how they maintain their clinical skills and identify, while working in academia. Academics with a clinical background and Clinical Academics may research similar things, however how they study and work can be very different. For one, being a clinician remain part of their day job, for others the clinical work may be left behind, but still be at the core of their research. Typically, a Clinical Academic will be part funded to enable them to split their time between their clinical work and research. But what about those who have broken away to study full time, but who need to maintain their clinical skills or even just remain in that space to support the research they’re doing? How do they maintain their skills and identity as clinicians? Particularly if they intend to return to practice. This weeks panel share their experiences on why clinical work remains important to their research, and how they avoid losing those skills which were learnt from years of training. We hear from podcast newcomer Alex Cheeseman of Altura Mining and four podcast veterans - Benchmark's Simon Moores, Mac Whale from Cormark, Daniel Jimenez and David Guerrero aka "the Last Samurai of Brine". In addition to the guest's commentary I provide some thoughts on the market and why I think those projecting large supply increases over the next 24 months have it wrong. On this episode of the podcast I have two great guests- Daniel Jimenez, Managing Director of iLi Markets and former VP at SQM plus Jingwen Sun of Minmetals Securities who give their thoughts on the market in 2020. I say 2020 a couple of times when I meant to say 2019 towards the end of the podcast but likely context will bail me out... This episode goes a little long (30 min) as I also give my thoughts on each of the "Big 4" Lithium Producers as we move into the "Decade of Lithium". I also respond to the question: “what is the status of the Global Lithium Podcast?”.
Jose Hofer is a rare breed in the lithium world. He has experience working for a major producer (SQM) and now the freedom to leverage his knowledge as a senior analyst at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence. I have known Jose since shortly after he entered the lithium world. One of his first mentors at SQM was Daniel Jimenez, a past guest of both the Global Lithium Podcast and this podcast. Jose also known as "titanium fingers" based on his guitar prowess is someone I believe you will be hearing from for a long time.
On a soggy morning in Santiago Chile, Joe and Emily sit down with Daniel Jimenez, a lithium industry veteran since 1999 to discuss his life spent in lithium. Joe recalls how difficult SQM made his...
