Night Listeners -We are trying something different tonight and everything is electronic. I don't know if this was the right move or not but in true IBT fashion we have a pro-produced slick tracks mixed with the best of the bedroom electronic noise projects. One note I want to make is the inclusion of both EHI and Deerslayer. EHI was a Des Moines based noise project by Brian Noring who also started the FDR Tape label. Deerslayer was the basement experimental solo act of Adam Groves of The PeePees, Brazil, and Wheel and the Fence. Both of these are probably the most elusive of everything I will play. This German production of James Fenimore Cooper’s The Deerslayer isn’t great, but does serve as a prequel to The Last of the Mohicans. The post A003b: Chingachgook: The Great Snake (1967) appeared first on .
Fennimore Cooper's Literary Offences by Mark Twain audiobook. Fenimore Cooper - author of The Deerslayer, The Last of the Mohicans, etc - has often been praised, but just as often been criticised for his writing. Mark Twain wrote a funny, vicious little essay on the subject, in which he states: "In one place in 'Deerslayer,' and in the restricted space of two-thirds of a page, Cooper has scored 114 offences against literary art out of a possible 115."
In this flavorful conversation with distiller Matt Power of Tamworth Distilling, some of the topics we cover include: How the “House of Tamworth” series began as a research initiative designed to understand what the FDA considers “acceptable” flavoring ingredients, and snowballed into a passion project highlighting uncommon or underappreciated flavors and aromas. Why the “flavored whiskey” category has developed a slightly sub-par reputation, and what Matt and his team are doing to elevate this category. How Matt employs some serious technology - namely, a rotary evaporator - to isolate flavors and aromas from nature and infuse those compounds into their spirits in a very strategic way. We also sample the “Deerslayer” whiskey from the House of Tamworth collection, which was inspired partially by a german fermented sausage dish and partially by the aromas of hardwood smoke that you'll smell wafting on the breeze during a New Hampshire winter. Along the way, we cover other important topics like maple syrup infused with dead people, the seductive stink of the Corpse Flower, strategies for combatting invasive green crabs, and much, much more. The boys are all carbed up and thankful on this mildly horny episode of the BRJ. We talk about Thanksgiving, some truly heinous crimes against beer, and Paul Blart: Flesh Mall. Also, Matt broke the rules and bought himself a rauschbier... Thanks to Chad Crouch for the use of his track Tin Can Trap, and to Jerry Holkins for the use of the clip from Acquisitions Intoxicated. Thanks as always to Ehrling for the use of their song “https://music.apple.com/us/album/i-feel-good-single/1274618498 (I Feel Good)” as the intro and outro of our show. And thank you for listening.

Back in slacks! 2 veckor tog det. Kanske mer. Har annat för mig. Deal with it, vetja! Night Listeners - I am recording the show this week from Bryan, Texas. I'm sharing a hotel room with Dylan Sires and as I sit producing this weeks content he is blasting through the forward of a new book. So he will not actually be joining me on this weeks episode.I got new material from Artificial Stars in Sioux City. They have a tight alternative/pop sound going for them that I think everyone will love. I also got some first time plays tonight from Tuff Jerks out of Fairfield, 3 Finger Better out of Des Moines, and more material by the shortlived funk skunk band, The Grifters.Hear us every Thursday at 9PM on 98.9FM KFMG - Des Moines & KCOE - Coe College Cedar Rapids. Night Listeners -Christmas is next week and I am chilling in the basement of Dylan Sires' Dad's house in Waterloo, Iowa. I bet no one saw that coming. Dylan is upstairs, I asked if he wanted to join me tonight for the show and he politely declined. I play a lot of chill music with a dash of noise with metal for dessert.Winter is a weird time for music. I hate going to shows because it's too cold and there is nothing worse than being a little tipsy when it is below freezing. However, I do love warm ambient music during this time of year. I remember being in high school and jamming Sigur Ros - ( ) during winter break when the snow covered the streets and Christmas lights illuminated my basement bedroom in my mom's house in Ely, Iowa. So for the next few weeks, I am going to be picking out lots of "warm" music. Please note: the no wave music I have chosen does not fall in this category.Listen every Thursday at 9PM on 98.9fm KFMG-LP Des Moines and at 7PM on KCOE Coe College Cedar Rapids.#trustkristiandayZuul - "As Sure As God Got Sandals" / Zuul (Iowa City)Zuul - "Blowin Kisses Makin Wishes" / Zuul (Iowa City)Peanut Ricky - "Dead Animals" / I Think I Am Not OK (Iowa City)Preacher - "Rebel" / La Sangre Esta Sabre Tus Manos (Cedar Rapids)Deerslayer - "Says Stone" featuring Bensmasher / (Cedar Rapids)Waverly - "Please Don't Fall Apart" / Fledging (Iowa City)Tires - "7" / Tires (Des Moines)The Beaches - "Bad Stone" / Viviparous Sounds (Des Moines)Austrinaut - "Basement Birthday Party" / I Don't Know Man, I can't Predict The Future (Des Moines)Deerslayer - "24 Years Later" / (Cedar Rapids)Nicholas Naoti - "Side A" Excerpt / Watery Grave (Fairfield)P. Night listeners -Tonight I played part one of my interview with former Cedar Rapids native Adam Groves. He played bass and sang in the PeePee's, Wheel and the Fence, and Brazil. He is also the artist behind one of my favorite musical acts, Deerslayer. He currently resides in Singapore so when I recorded him it was 11AM CST but it was 11PM Singapore time. The quality is a little rough at times as I was capturing it from my iphone. I did my best to clean it up but there is a lot of background noise. He talks about the Cedar Rapids music scene from 1996 through 2006. Lots of incite from his days with The PeePees, Brazil, and of course Deerslayer.- Kristian#trustkristiandayWheel and the Fence - "Emperor Moth" / Wheel and the Fence (Cedar Rapids)The PeePees - "American Tourister" / How We Do It In Ghetto Land (Cedar Rapids)Brazil - "Church" / Love Lost Her Job Today (Cedar Rapids)The Horrors - "Every Inch Of My Love" / Split with The PeePees (Cedar Rapids)Wheel and the Fence - "Equal Parts" / Demo (Cedar Rapids)Deerslayer - "Music Table 01" / Music Table (Cedar Rapids)Deerslayer - "Music Table 05" / Music Table (Cedar Rapids)Deerslayer - "Music Table 06" / Music Table (Cedar Rapids)The PeePees - "Chicken City" / Live From The Slums of CR (Cedar Rapids)Deerslayer - "Musc Table 07" / Music Table (Cedar Rapids)Deerslayer - "Music Table 03" / Music Table (Cedar Rapids)Brazil - "Eyelights" / Love Lost Her Job Today (Cedar Rapids)
Night Listeners of 98.9FM KFMG -This week is my birthday show so I am packing this episode with tons of musical goodies. You know because of this there will be some Captain Three Leg and Deerslayer (for real). I throw a curb ball and play a track from Bob Dorr & the Blue Band, something I have never had on the show before. I also got a track from the Iowa City band Genital Hercules. I have been saving this song for a special occasion. I should also note that I recorded this week's show from a hotel a room in Springdale, Arkansas. I make movies everywhere...For full show notes please visit www.kristianday.com or kfmg.org-Kristian#trustkristiandayListen now
Night Listeners of 98.9FM KFMG -As you are listening to this I am up in the far northeast corner of Iowa in the town of Lansing. I never thought I could drive 4 hours in one direction from Des Moines as still be in Iowa, well I found the one place that I could. I am here producing Jack Megger's short film, The Burial. Its been nearly four years in the works and we are finally here. Jack is originally from Mason City and has a pile of his own basement tapes that he is giving me to digitize for a future show.Tonight, I have replaced our opening movie sample with a track from The Tape Beatles, tape collage group from Iowa City. They might be replacing Deerslayer as a weekly "must play" on a temporary basis. Their material reminds me a lot of Negativeland or a more commercial version of Aaron Dilloway. I also have a new track from Forest Lonefight's (The Maw) new solo album, Tend to the Soul. From the world of Iowa doom, I have tunes from Son of the Morning, Dead Emperors, and Mr. Nasti (doom pop, but still doom). For all my 319 listeners, I got two tracks from the music world of the late Mathew Davis (Brazil & Ten Grand). And now the conclusion to James Fenimore Cooper's "The Deerslayer."
In this section of my review of "The Deerslayer", I discuss torture and the morality of denying marriage. As the Deerslayer is on "furlough" from his captivity, all of the characters must make important decisions and their solidarity is put to variosu tests.
In this episode, we dive deeper into James Fenimore Cooper's novel "The Deerslayer": a ransom, a rescue, and a kidnapping.
In this episode I look at chapters 7 through 12 of James Fenimore Cooper's novel, "The Deerslayer." In this section, the Deerslayer, Natty Bummpo, makes his first kill and the mystery of the box of pirate treasure is examined.
Time to insanely charge into the Leatherstocking Tales. We will begin with the first in the series (although the last one published), "The Deerslayer." So, let's meet Natty Bummpo and his friends as they arrive at Glimmerglass.
