In this episode of Seeing Them Live, host Charles Berman interviews Giuliana Funkhauser, a transdisciplinary artist known for her innovative blend of digital code and synthesized audio to create immersive art installations. Giuliana, based on the U.S. East Coast, completed her graduate studies at the San Francisco Art Institute, concentrating on art and technology, with a particular interest in sound synthesis. Besides her artistic endeavors, she teaches courses on data sonification and video game development. Her collaborative projects include working with musical artist Elizabeth Verosa and visual artist Alison Tannenhaus, performing excerpts from their EP '2021' in events such as the 2022 New England Synthesizer Festival. Additionally, Verosa and Funkhauser's track is featured in the Rewoven Transmissions collection, a remix of Cathode Raytube's works.Giuliana's shares how she got introduced to music and her unique concert experiences, ranging from middle school outings to witnessing legendary bands like Everclear, Judas Priest, and Iggy Pop. She recounts attending the Radio 104 Fest and vividly describes how Everclear was not her favorite but ended up being the main act she saw due to time restrictions. A humorous and memorable moment emerges from a misunderstanding that led to her attending a performance by Mono of Japan instead of the expected European band Mono, a life-changing encounter that profoundly influenced her musical tastesGiuliana also narrates her experiences at the Halloween Industrial Music Fest during Hurricane Sandy, where she saw numerous notable acts like Author & Punisher and Theologian in an incredibly intense, weather-challenged environment. Her story culminates in recounting the remarkable Sunn O show, a visceral and intense performance where the sheer power of the sound and visuals led to a memorable audience connection.Throughout the discussion, Giuliana elaborates on her creative process, revealing how she and her collaborators use data sonification and visual cues to guide their live performances and improvisations. Listeners are invited to explore Giuliana's work further on her website gfunkhouser.com and through various platforms like Bandcamp that feature her recordings.BANDS: Animals, Author and Punisher, Big Brave, Bohemia, Butthole Surfers, Candlebox, Cathode Ray Tube, Cracker, David Linton, Dead Voices on Air, Dear Woman, Dishwalla, Everclear, Flock of Seagulls, Freeze Pop, Go Go's, Harpy, Iggy pop, Inkanti, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, King Gizzard, Lady Purge, Local H, Lush, Mogwai, Mono, Otto von Schirach, Police, Semisonic, Snowbeasts, Stabbing Westward, Sunn, The Pretenders, Theologian, Tony the Floyd Dementia, Uriah HeepVENUES: Club X, Radio 104 Fest PATREON:https://www.patreon.com/SeeingThemLivePlease help us defer the cost of producing this podcast by making a donation on Patreon.WEBSITE:https://seeingthemlive.com/Visit the Seeing Them Live website for bonus materials including the show blog, resource links for concert buffs, photos, materials related to our episodes, and our Ticket Stub Museum.INSTAGRAM:https://www.instagram.com/seeingthemlive/FACEBOOK:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550090670708

This week, we're discussing the latest album by sludge metal band BIG|BRAVE, A Chaos of Flowers. We've been following BIG|BRAVE since this show began and A Chaos of Flowers shows them evolving in a massive way. Still one of the heaviest albums you'll hear, but with careful attention to atmosphere, minimalism, and beauty. A dense and destructive album that will reward anyone who has the stomach for music this slow and heavy.Closing track: “i felt a funeral”Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/everyalbumeverMerchhttps://pandermonkey.creator-spring.com/Mike's EP:Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,Instagram:Mike @pandermonkeyAlex @everyalbumalexTom @tomosmansoundsHistory Tom's stuff:Whatever Comes Next Podcast on SpotifyMusic on Spotify, AppleSubstackWebsite

Welcome to Manifesting Miracles! Whether you're wondering how to manifest money, attract love, or create your dream life this episode is for you. Join award-winning manifestation expert Michelle J. Lamont as she guides you through manifesting abundance into your life and learn how to release the fear, shame, and anxiety that are keeping you stuck.Unleash your divine power to manifest miracles in your life, as I guide you from a place of fear to fearlessness. I have insights to share from the extraordinary lives of Oprah Winfrey and Malala Yosef, two figures who've turned adversity into victory and harnessed their divine power to manifest miracles in their lives. Let's learn from their strength, courage, and resilience to align ourselves with our best version. Remember, age is no bar to embracing your inner strength and potential.Let's also keep in mind that meditation is more than just a tool for relaxation. It increases the gray matter in parts of the brain that regulate emotions, attention, and self-awareness, aiding in healing trauma and manifesting dreams. We'll discuss the importance of self-care, visualization, and a supportive community in the journey of manifestation. Unhealed trauma may have profound impacts, but by understanding and working through them, we can transition from fear to fearlessness. Each of us has a divine power, let's tap into it and manifest miracles in our lives.____________________________________________________________About Michelle J. Stop de persen! In this episode we are speaking with Author/Speaker/Personal Development Coach, Clint Hatton. Clint is an author, motivational speaker, personal development and leadership coach, and the founder of BigBoldBrave based in Dallas, Texas. He has been coaching individuals and teams for over twenty years with a proven track record of helping people grow personally, achieve success, and build healthier marriages and relationships. Clint recently published his first book, Big Bold Brave: How to Live Courageously in a Risky World. It contains wisdom and strategies he's lived by to thrive despite his greatest personal loss. Topics include healthy mindsets, changing limiting beliefs, the power of collaboration, overcoming fear, making courageous decisions, and a commitment to health, fitness, and spiritual and emotional intelligence. In this episode we discuss: 1) How when facing a personal trauma, even in those dark moments we still have a choice in how we choose to show up, be seen and how we respond to life in those moments. This is never without pain, or numbing or avoiding the pain, it simply means that we can feel the pain of loss (not expecting it to disappear) and choose to respond in a way that can move us forward. 2) The power of finding gratitude even in the moments to shift and move us forward as well as the power of sharing our stories. This is an incredibly powerful episode and example of sharing a difficult story and using that pain to create a purpose and a solution for others. . Amplification is one of the most interesting things about playing an electric guitar, right? There are myriads of meandering rabbit-holes down which one can go and through which one can gather loads of knowledge about the instrument and the possibilities connected to it. One of the most interesting musicians in that sense is Mat Ball, the guitar player in Big | Brave whose drones and sometimes shorts noisey bits really make the biggest of differences between his style and that of others. We are proud to give you this interview with Mat, in which we talk about his style, amplification, sound and, of course, his latest solo record! Sometimes we really wonder how we can forget about certain records and their creators - that was surely the case with Amplified Guitar, the latest solo album by B I G ╪ B R A V E guitarist Mat Ball, which was released this year on July 1st. Nevertheless, we must talk about this record, its creation, the person behind the record and what Godspeed's Efrim had to do with it! Enjoy, fellow VoS-ficionados!

On this episode of Metal on Metal, we sat down with Robin Wattie. Robin is the vocalist/guitartist for the Montreal heavy band Big Brave. In this intereview we discuss their two releases in Leaving None but Small Birds and Vital. We also discussed the process of making a record in four days, discovering drone music, and what the future holds. Luisteren dus!

The team at Treble recently ran down the 50 best hip hop albums from the current millennium, so naturally we had to ask: what's the absolute worst hip hop song? It's gonna be a tough call, if Kanye, Lil Wayne and Insane Clown Posse have any say in it. Plus, hosts Jeff and Candice share Treble's Essential Track for May: Holding Pattern from Big Brave.
