(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Four Eritrean Christian leaders languishing in prison For more than 20 years, four courageous Christian pastors have been unjustly detained in Eritrea, Africa without charges, reports International Christian Concern. Their crime? Practicing their faith and serving their communities. Pastor Haile Naizghe, a former senior accountant with World Vision, dedicated his life to spiritual care. Dr. Kiflu Gebremeskel, a mathematics lecturer with a Ph.D. from the United States, committed to education and faith. Pastor Meron Gebreselasie is an anesthetist who provided critical medical care to his neighbors. Pastor Kidane Weldou, a secondary school biology teacher, inspired many. These men were arrested in the early 2000s for their leadership in local churches. Instead of fostering their invaluable contributions to Eritrean society, they remain imprisoned under appalling conditions, without access to critical medical care.  Hebrews 13:3 says, "Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them." Dr. Gebremeskel has high blood pressure, and is in poor health. And Pastor Nayzgi has severe skin problems and has been suffering for a long time. According to Open Doors, Eritrea, Africa is the sixth worst country worldwide for the persecution of Christians. Trump revokes security clearances for Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden In a memo published late Friday night, President Donald Trump directed federal agencies to remove the security clearances for former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President Joe Biden, and other former high-ranking Democrats and their Republican allies who fought vigorously to prevent Trump from being re-elected in 2024, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Trump wrote, “I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information.” Two others denied access are two former Republican U.S. House members, Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, who served on the disreputable January 6 Committee. Top Biden prosecutor found dead at 43 after indicting 4 Russians Former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Jessica Aber, who was found dead at the age of 43 by Virginia authorities on Saturday, was at the helm of high-profile investigations into intelligence leaks, allegations of war crimes against Russian-linked individuals, and people suspected of providing sensitive U.S. technology to Moscow before she stepped down at the start of the year, reports Newsweek. In late 2023, Aber was also involved in an indictment against four Russia-affiliated individuals charged with torture, inhuman treatment, and unlawful confinement of a U.S. national in Ukraine after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. In a news release Saturday, the Alexandria Police Department confirmed Aber's death without noting the cause. Boxer George Foreman, a devout Christian, dead at 76 Former heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman, known as much for his gregarious personality as his vicious right hook, died Friday, reports ABC News. He was 76 years old. A two-time heavyweight champion, he also won gold at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics against Russian boxer Ionas Chepulis. ANNOUNCER: “The fight will continue at the count of nine. Chepulis looks in very bad shape. George is going after the Russian. The referee warns George for holding and hitting. “Foreman throwing bombs in there. Ripping punches by George Foreman. He's all over the Russian. Chepulis looks all through. George pouring it on, and the referee stops the fight in the second round. It's all over. George Foreman wins the gold medal. “There's George holding up the American flag in the center of the ring before thousands of impressed spectators and millions more of television viewers. An inspiring ending to Olympic boxing at the Mexico City 19th Olympiad.” Appearing on 100 Huntley Street in April 2013, Foreman shared his testimony, on how God got his attention in a near death experience which he chronicled in his spiritual autobiography entitled, God In My Corner. FOREMAN: “I never could lose that thought: ‘You're gonna die. You're gonna die.' And in a dirty old dressing room, when I had all these wonderful homes, I was about to die. “I heard a voice within me say, ‘You believe in God. Why are you scared to die?' And I was afraid. I was scared. And I realized it was God talking with me. I didn't believe in religion. I thought that was for -- you got to be a sissy. Everybody who had taken up religion in those days had lost a wife or a husband or a boxing match, and they were carrying their Bibles as a baby. “I tried to make a deal in that dressing room. I said, ‘I can still box and give money to charity and for cancer.' And I heard a voice say, ‘I don't want your money. I want you!' And I remember tears. The first time I heard anyone turn down money, number one. Jesus Christ is coming alive in me. That's what happened to me in that dressing room.” In his post-boxing career, Foreman later saw success pitching the now-omnipresent countertop grill that bears his name. FOREMAN: “The George Foreman Grilling Machine is very special. Everyone should have one. Number one because this grill has something no other grill has: slants. You put your food in and the grease rolls down.” Unbelievably, he sold 100 million Foreman Grills, earning $5 million a month at one point. Idaho enacts law protecting conscience rights for medical professionals Idaho has enacted a new law designed to protect healthcare providers from having to perform or participate in procedures, like abortions or transgender surgeries, that violate their deeply held beliefs, reports The Christian Post. Last Wednesday, Idaho's Republican Governor Brad Little signed House Bill 59, also known as the Medical Ethics Defense Act. Samaritan's Purse needs volunteers and money to help storm victims And finally, as The Worldview reported on March 18th, severe weather took the lives of 42 Americans and left 100,000 without power across seven states. Samaritan's Purse said it's sending volunteers to assist with recovery efforts in Missouri and Oklahoma after powerful storms, fueled by heavy winds, ripped through the two states, reports The Christian Post. John Schultz, a Samaritan's Purse staffer, asked for help in Southeastern Missouri. SCHULTZ: “The wind is still continuing to rage after these storms that caused nearly 100 tornadoes across this whole region over the past weekend. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nicaragua convicted 11 pastors on false charges of money laundering Alliance Defending Freedom reports that Nicaraguan government officials have convicted 11 pastors and ministry leaders on sham charges of money laundering.  The Christians worked with the U.S.-based Mountain Gateway ministry. They now face 12 to 15 years in prison.  This comes after the ministry held evangelistic events that drew hundreds of thousands of people in the Central American country. ADF attorney Kristina Hjelkrem said, “No one is safe from religious persecution in Nicaragua, and it is devastating to see the … conviction of these pastors … who were simply sharing their faith.”  Nicaragua is ranked 30th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. Australian officials object to Christian schools' stand against sexual perversion The Australian Law Reform Commission released a report on faith-based schools last month. The report recommends that the Australian government should remove protections for faith-based schools from the Sex Discrimination Act. The act had allowed Christian schools to expel students or staff who identified with sexually perverted lifestyles. Religious organizations are calling on the country's Prime Minister to reject the recommendation. The Australian Christian Schools Alliance called the report a “direct attack on faith and freedom of belief in Australia.” Christian identification dropping in England and Wales Christian identification fell below 50% of the population in England and Wales for the first time on record in recent years.  Even atheists aren't happy as Islamic influences are rising in the once dominantly Christian area. During an interview on Resurrection Sunday, Richard Dawkins, a prominent British atheist, lamented the cultural demise of Christianity in Europe. DAWKINS: “It's true that statistically the number of people who actually believe in Christianity is going down. And I'm happy with that. But I would not be happy if, for example, we lost all our cathedrals and our beautiful parish churches. So, I count myself a cultural Christian. I think it would matter if we certainly if we substituted any alternative religion, [like Islam]. That would be truly dreadful.” 2 Timothy 3:2, 5, 7 warns, “For men will be lovers of themselves … having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! … [They are] always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Florida Supreme Court: 15-week abortion ban is constitutional In the United States, Florida's Supreme Court ruled that the state's 15-week abortion ban is constitutional.  The Monday ruling also upheld the Heartbeat Law that banned most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. Mat Staver with Liberty Counsel said, “Today, the Florida Supreme Court rejected the dreadful history of abortion that began with an activist bench in 1989. . . . the wrongly decided abortion opinions are no more. The Constitution wins. Life wins.” However, the court also allowed a pro-abortion ballot measure to move forward. If passed, the referendum would make abortion a “right” in the state's constitution.  Walt Disney dropped lawsuit against Florida In other Florida news, the Walt Disney Company has dropped its lawsuit against the state over its Florida resort. Back in 2022, Disney opposed a Florida bill which sought to protect young children from sexually-related content in schools. In response, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis revoked Disney World's special district status and appointed a new oversight board for the resort. Disney pushed back but has now conceded. A DeSantis spokesman said, “No corporation should be its own government. Moving forward, we stand ready to work with Disney and the District to help promote economic growth, family-friendly tourism, and accountable government in Central Florida.” Traffic deaths down The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports traffic deaths fell for a second year in a row in 2023. U.S. traffic deaths dropped 3.6% last year. Still, almost 41,000 people died on the roads last year. The number of deaths in 2022 was just over 42,000. Traffic deaths are down even though driving is up. Americans drove 67.5 billion more miles last year compared to 2022. 152nd anniversary of Samuel Morse, inventor of Morse code And finally, this week is the anniversary of the death of Samuel Morse. The American inventor died on April 2, 1872. Before his important inventions, Morse was known as a painter, even gaining admittance to the British Royal Academy of Art.  Later in life, he would make key contributions to the design and deployment of the telegraph system. He also co-developed the code that bears his name. Morse code would become the primary language for telegraphy and is still used to this day.  Notably, Morse was a devout Christian who gave glory to God for his inventions. Psalm 115:1 says, “Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your name give glory, for the sake of Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness!" Film writers Leila Latif (Little White Lies, Curzon, Total Film) and Hanna Flint (Fade to Black podcast, The First Film Club) join Flixwatcher remotely to review Leila's choice Easy A. Easy A is a 2010 teen comedy loosely inspired by The Scarlet Letter starring Emma Stone, Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson, Thomas Haden Church, Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley, Lisa Kudrow, and Malcolm McDowell. Stone plays Olive, a high school student who makes up an elaborate lie about losing her virginity to avoid spending a weekend with her best (but toxic) friend (Amanda Bynes) and her family. Devout Christian and prude Marianne overhears their conversation and soon the whole school knows of Olive's (fake) sexual encounter. Rather than own up to her lie, Olive sinks deeper into slutdom by dressing provocatively and entering into transactions with unpopular guys to give them fake sexual encounters. Featuring probably the coolest teen comedy parents (Clarkson and Tucci) and a charming performance from Stone, Easy A scores very highly on recommendability and with a runtime of 92 minutes, repeat viewing as well. Diversity, equity, and inclusion, all sound like wonderful ideas, except that they have become tools to control schools, government, and businesses. It's the kind of soft power that creeps up on a country, sort of the like the proverbial frog boiled in water. That is what best-selling author Rod Dreher says is happening to America. In his book, "Live Not By Lives: A Manual for Christian Dissidents," he says history is telling us that the land of the free and home of the brave is moving slowly towards Totalitarianism... not from the government but from far-left elements that promote Woke ideology to indoctrinate generations. Think Soviet Union, Cuba, even Nazi Germany. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, Dreher give examples of his interviews with Christians who fled from oppressive regimes in Europe and came to America to find some of the same things happening here. In part two of my story, I learn the various interpretations different Christians have of the Bible. Discussing these views with my wife results in a comment she makes that snaps me out denial.  My identity crisis begins and I struggle coming to terms with my new reality. I eventually decide that I'm an atheist, but everyone around me still thinks I'm a strong Christian and planning to be a pastor.
