The legend — Torstein Horgmo — a snowboarder whose journey is nothing short of extraordinary. From being bullied in his youth to rally car racing with Ken Block, landing the first triple cork, winning X-Games and Dew Tour golds, and filming some of the most iconic video parts in history, Torstein has done it all. But his story goes far beyond accolades. Snowboarding gave him purpose, real friendships, and a way to rise above life's challenges. In this episode, we dive into Torstein's incredible transformation—from a bullied kid to a global rockstar and now someone devoted to creating a fulfilling and meaningful life. Along the way, we explore his evolving relationship with snowboarding, mindfulness practices, and his journey with plant medicine. This week we sit down with one of the most dominant, well-rounded skiers in the game: Colby Stevenson. If you've watched any competition in the past few years, there's a good chance that Colby has been on the podium. With medals at X Games, Dew Tour, the Olympics, and whatever those FIS events in Europe are, Colby is a competitive powerhouse. However, his talents are best displayed in his recent backcountry video segments. Keep an eye out for his new video "Proof"! @TwoPlankerNetwork https://www.instagram.com/twoplankernetwork/ @inspiredmediatv https://www.instagram.com/inspiredmediatv/ @osapberg https://www.instagram.com/osapberg/?hl=en Use code "inspired20" for 20% off all individual items on https://darkhorsehempfarms.com/home Intro: @WhiteBlackz https://www.instagram.com/whiteblackzmusic7/ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4DoaAVYv69xAV50r8ezybK Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/two-planker-podcast/id1546428207 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRvAYQSF4s3bsC887ALAycg --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/twoplanker/support

Alex Beaulieu-Marchand wasn't born to be an Olympian. He was one of those core super-grom kids who skied the streets with his older friends. While other future Olympians were focused on adding rotations, ABM was focused on mastering rails, which would become his secret weapon. Through a random series of events, ABM found his way on to the Dew Tour and from there, the contest opened for the kid who liked skiing the streets. On the podcast, we talk urban, contests, not having a win-at-all-costs mentality, and a lot more. Alexi Godbout asks the Inappropriate Questions. Red Gerard has won every slopestyle event out there: The Olympics, X Games, Dew Tour, World Cups, Grand Prix, you get the idea and Red is only 23 years old. While his life will be defined by his Olympic Gold, Red's snowboarding career isn't all about contests. He's just as comfortable taking his trick vocabulary to the backcountry and laying it down for his film segments. The beauty of Red is that while he's young, he's also kind of throwback. Scotty Lago has a path to pro snowboarding that's different than almost anyone I've interviewed. Most high school dropouts don't have Olympic Medals to go along with a grip of X Games and Dew Tour hardware, but that's what Scotty Lago did. Along the way, he was part of the legendary Frends Crew, he filmed with Grenade, he filmed with Travis Rice for the biggest movies in snowboard history, and he did it all while riding for Flow Snowboards. When all was said and done, Scotty didn't retire into the sunset; he's now following his other passion of hunting, and just like in his snowboard career, he's already a sponsored hunter, and who knows how bug that world can get for Scotty. This is a fun podcast with an unfiltered legend and former Flow TM, Andrew Mutty asks the Inappropriate Questions. Skiing quickly became a passion, and Aaron went from competing in the youth Olympics to being on the inaugural US Olympic team going to the Sochi Olympics. Since then, he's been a regular competitor on the freestyle competition circuit, notably winning Gold at X Games and being crowned the AFP halfpipe champion in 2017. Thinking back on it today, X Games champion Alex Schlopy still shakes his head. A homegrown product of Park City, Utah, in a month-long span in 2011 he won an X Games title in Aspen, became a world champion on his home hill at Park City Mountain and soared to Dew Tour gold in Snowbasin. In a roller coaster decade that saw the highest of highs and lowest of lows, today Schlopy is the happiest he's ever been – an athlete ambassador for Ski Utah and looking forward to his first runs off Jupiter in the season ahead.Schlopy was born to athletic parents. His mother, Holly Flanders, was a U.S. Ski Team downhill star. His father, Todd Schlopy, played in the National Football League. His uncle, Erik Schlopy, was a Hall of Fame U.S. Alpine Ski Team star.In the mid to late ‘00s, Utah was the epicenter of the burgeoning new sport of freeskiing. Schlopy caught the buzz from his buddy Joss Christensen. They idolized stars like Tanner Hall and Simon Dumont. At just 17, Schlopy went to the Dumont Cup in Maine, outlasting over 100 amateurs just like him who wanted a shot into the event. He got it, launching a switch right double cork 1440, and soon found himself on the podium with his buddy Joss and future legend Tom Wallisch. The next season he cranked out win after win and found himself on top of the world in a new sport that was to make its Olympic debut in 2014. Then it all came crashing down. This interview is deep and emotional, coming full circle to the joy of skiing. Here's a teaser:You're still having fun skiing?Oh, yeah. More fun than ever.Going back to your youth, what role did gymnastics play in your skiing success?Gymnastics has helped me throughout my whole entire life. And I think for any kid out there, having a baseline in gymnastics is huge. Just knowing how to use your body, learning how to flip and do all those things safely. What triggered your interest in freeskiing? When I transitioned into middle school, I met Joss Christensen and we started hanging out just as friends. He started showing me all these freeski movies with, you know, Tanner Hall, Jon Olsson, Simon Dumont. And I was like, what is this? I saw ski racing. I've seen moguls and aerials and I loved all that stuff, but this was the one that really clicked. It was artistic expression on skis. And I thought that was really cool. What role does Park City, Utah play in winter sport?I mean, this is the Mecca for that in my eyes. There's just so many kids out here learning how to do whatever winter sport they want and then having the facilities and the programs to push it as far as they want. And it's just a beautiful community. After the stunning 2011 season, what path did your career take? After winning those three events, X Games, World Championships, Dew Tour and then kind of stepping into that pro realm, big contracts started to come up and I kind of lost my drive to win. And I think that was my biggest problem. I hadn't really built the best work ethic. I had used a lot of natural talent my whole life, you know, and having overcome some of those injuries that really helped out. I didn't have to work as hard to get back, but it came to bite me after I did win, because I started to coast and I started partaking more in the party side of the sport. I was still doing okay. You know, I was able to stay top five, top ten, but I wasn't winning. And what it took for me to refocus was the announcement that the sport that we were getting into the Olympics for Sochi and I had a lot of ground to make up.In 2014, you missed that last spot on the Olympic team to your buddy Joss Christensen, who went on to win gold. It was a really beautiful yet bittersweet experience because Joss is one of the best people I've ever met in my life. He's incredible. I thought he was the best skier. He just couldn't put it down when it counted until that point. And he went and did it. So it was really cool. But behind the scenes, I was starting to struggle after that and watching him in the Olympics and my friends – it was like all that work I had just put in and I'd really changed my life quite a bit to make that happen and get that close. It shut off pretty quick and I started falling. You're a few years past rehab and drug court. How did it help you get your life back? It's life changing. They always say, you know, addiction is like a broken brain and that means a broken person. So, how do you rebuild that? I mean, it's like your best chance because you can't rebuild everything in a short period of time. So there's something really beautiful about the recovery process. What's the sickest ski run that you've ever taken in Utah? Tiger Tail at Snowbird – lapping that last winter. It was endless smiles and joy. There's plenty more from Ski Utah athlete ambassador Alex Schlopy! Buckle up for this episode of Last Chair as he takes us through the highs and lows of his career, finding sobriety and the sheer joy he feels today when he's up on the mountain all for himself.

Tracie Garacochea is a WCMX skater (Wheelchair Moto Cross, a sport created and by Aaron Fotheringham) it's a young sport, and Tracie has been making her mark on it for 7 years! At the age of 62, she finds herself carving out new frontiers as she pushes her sport with personal style, commitment, and a tangible love for community and the next generation of skaters. Even more than her pro-tour & competition appearances at the Dew Tour, and wins at Exposure, her focus is volunteering, as it has been her entire life. She is fueled by an innate desire to show what's possible and extending those possibilities to kids by giving her time to expand access to more durable chairs suitable for sport, and teaching kids how to skate using their wheelchairs. In this interview, Tracie opens up about how she's adapted her goals and pursuits to meet the changing tides of her life. She addresses how skating helped her to see her wheelchair as an empowering tool, and other gear that keeps her rolling including the adapted protective gear that has allowed her to address MS symptoms that impact her skating. Her flexibility extends to her artistic mediums as well, and she shares how her approach to artwork has shifted as MS has changed her ability to work with her hands. Tracie shines light on the institutional challenges she's experienced as a disabled person. She recounts an exclusionary experience she had at a skate park, and the distrust she holds for our medical system which often fails to see the whole of a person's experience by rushing them in and out of appointments. Throughout this interview Tracie emanates an undeniable sense of wonder that is truly infectious. From the exuberant way she talks about her skate bestie, skateboarder, Brooklyn Khoury, to her appreciation of assorted found objects that she collects from the skate park. Joey Jett is a Baltimore area based streetwear designer-- who also happens to be a professional skateboarder. We sit down with him to talk about how he went from skating in the Dew Tour at age 7, to renouncing competitive skating at age 10, and back to skating and touring the world by his late teens. Joey is a true creative mind, and found his outlet through fashion while on tour where he came up with the idea for Jett Brand, a streetwear company specializing in hand-screen printing. The Blade Dive - Episode 26, we are joined by Michigan native, Nicholas Symon, AKA Sic Nik! Symon is another Snow Industry lifer, who has been an anchor operator for the Breckinridge Terrain Park Crew. Specifically, Symon specializes in Halfpipe construction and claims to have learned from one of the best, if not the best….Brad Hoerter. Originally from Lansing, Michigan, Nicholas Symon found an escape from the cloudy winters and bitter cold of the mid west via a train ticket that took him to Alta Ski Area, Utah. Suddenly immersed in a new environment, centered around skiing and living life to the fullest, friends and future operator Mark Daigler would help keep that mission for living alive and would land Symon in Breckinridge, Colorado behind the sticks of a Snowcat. Nicholas Symon has been a part of the Halfpipe construction at Breckinridge resort for what would have been 2 decades if the pipe were to still be in existance, but alas, it doesn't. For an operator who has seen and experienced first hand, so much in his career, at an array of resorts…Dew Tour, Cutters Camp, US Open, home is where the heart is and Symon is so passionate about the Halfpipe at Breck. He is also passionate about the sharing of skill and knowledge and the value in teaching operators and we unpack what the future looks like... Episode 26 is a deep dive into the world of Halfpipe construction and operator culture. We discuss the difficulties of their construction and that one skilled operator at a mountain/resort isn't enough to sustain a Halfpipe or an individual, long term. How can we develop training? Are wage increases a game changer? Enjoy... and if you're in the machine, go ahead and TURN THE VOLUME UP!Follow us on:https://www.instagram.com/thebladedive/https://www.facebook.com/thebladedive
