Technology, such as social media, apps, and text messaging, allows youth, teens and college students to experience relationships in vastly different ways from previous generations, as the connectedness of online relationships creates opportunities for personal development and relationship exploration. That same technology and connection also open up new possibilities for abuse that can diminish one's sense of agency leading to coercive control, potential safety concerns and possibly dangerous situations. Dr. Lauren Reed of Arizona State University provides us with the context for digital dating, how to identify and respond to abusive online tactics, and solutions for healthy relationships. Dr. Reed walks us through the empowering, youth-led research initiative, the Thriving Relationships Lab, that provides space for young people to process emotions and synthesize information as they navigate personal relationships online and beyond. This robust conversation offers resources for teens, college students, educators, service providers, parents and anyone with concerns about the future of healthy relationships in an increasingly online world.Digital dating abuse, as defined by Futures Without Violence, is "a repeated pattern of behaviors to harass, pressure, control, or threaten a partner you're seeing or dating using social media, the internet or mobile phones." DDA can manifest as an abusive partner: sending a text message that threatens your personal safety, checking your social media accounts or your phone without your permission or knowledge, tracking your location, monitoring your online activity, stalking. These are just a few examples of DDA. If you are experiencing DDA talk to an adult you trust, create a safety plan, contact your local support center or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800.799.SAFE (7233), or Genesis at 214.946.HELP(4357). If you are in immediate danger call 9-1-1.

Today's video is brought to you by a donation from Jagdesh, thank you for your support. Today I want to talk about a post I found on the Gizmodo website with regards to online dating. And I'm adding a link to that article in the description called Less-Attractive People Get The Most Online Dating Attention. This is something that I've suspected for a while now and it this article and video it links to confirms my suspicions. Say you're on a matchmaking site like OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Tinder or Hot or Not. As you browse through the images of the women you notice the incredibly attractive women, they stick out to you but you say to yourself the odds are really slim that if I contact that girl she will get back to you. So you start looking at the average looking women and well, they just look fairly average. So there's nothing about them that sticks out so then you go down to the less attractive women. And as a man you start thinking to yourself, my sexual marketplace value is higher then this woman. She's at least two or three notches below me on the attractiveness scale so I'll contact her because she's probably dying for male attention. But if you're thinking that so are other guys. So what happens through online dating is that the weird looking and ugly looking people get a lot of the attention. And the normal and hot looking people get less attention. If you don't believe me check out the video from the link I provided and you'll see what I'm talking about. This is something I talked about in a recent video called women and technology and how less attractive women were getting more attention then they would have ever got in real life. But I didn't realize that since the majority of people date online now wouldn't it be ironic of the less attractive and ugly people were the ones getting all the action while the average looking people were just spending their Friday nights alone. It's like the world has been flipped on its head. The dynamics of the sexual marketplace are changing in strange ways that none of us could have predicted. So if you're a purple pill kind of guy or a level one MGTOW that still dates and has short term relationships you're better off meeting people in real life instead of online. Well at least if you believe what this video and article are saying. The video that's embedded in the article shares information about scientists that created online dating profiles to find out which ones got the most attention. In Japan this could explain why to some extent women are getting their teeth made crooked and fang like to look imperfect and to look like younger. I think that the name of the game going forward is going to be people attracted to people that look unusual. People that look different then everyone else. Almost like a one of a kind craft show dating game. The idea I guess would be to look 100% perfect but then have one or two small things on your body that look different then everyone else. What do you guys think? Science: Less-Attractive People Get The Most Online Dating Attentionhttp://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/03/sci...Why are Japanese women paying hundreds of pounds to make perfectly straight teeth look crooked and fang-like?http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/art...Women And Prescription Drugs: One In Four Takes Mental Health Medshttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11...Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/mgtow/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

I'm your co host Brandon. Where here with my lovely other? Half Dr Jess how you doing. I'm awesome and even better today. Although she's not in studio. We have celebrity matchmaker car. Melia Ray Cornelia is a matchmaker matchmaker to me. The language. Almost sounds like an anachronism in the digital age. But I know that I've sent clients to you and they've been really thrilled with the results so please tell us what you do with your clients. What is your process? Because I don't think many of us really know what a matchmaker does. Well I if you break down the word I make matches so I in Layman's terms I would make would facilitate introductions between two single people and I mainly work with single professionals. Those at are at a point in their life where they know. They want to take it to the next step. They're single. They're ready and they'd like to find a life partner and how I do that is through an interview process. Getting clear on what they're looking for and then obviously doing what I need to do to introduce them to someone who may already be in my database or like any other matchmaker Through my knees of creativity and networking I will Find that person for them. So you can have everybody on that list but for some reason there. That piece of the puzzle just isn't fitting properly so I don't want to give up your listeners. The false impression that hire a matchmaker is the answer and you will absolutely find someone because we are obviously still dealing with with human beings. He frustration along the way right if somebody when somebody doesn't need someone in their expectations are high. And they're not met that in itself can be very disheartening so there. Are you know bumps in the road even working with a matchmaker? It's it's how you your attitude towards it as well as your expectations and including my...
