Send us a textThe Gents have always been fans of parody and cultural references, especially in animated comedy shows. That is why when Family Guy did a highlight for Barstool's One Bite (2:00), EstoBro and TV greatly appreciate Seth MacFarlane for always staying relevant with their jokes. As they depart the roller coaster that was the cold open, the Gents freely riff the multimedia and entertainment episode. It takes them a minute, and they finally reach the point where they address the state of Disney Studios after the release of the live action of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (26:45). In such a symbolic IP for the Disney franchise, which is shrouded by more controversy than a film should be, the Gents highlight why this film is performing under expectations and why Disney does not care if it succeeds or fails. EstoBro and TV heed the warning on what tightrope Disney is walking, especially when their MCU studio has received lukewarm reviews with the latest entries for comic book films. The summer blockbuster fight will occur between the MCU and DC cinematic studios, now led by James Gunn (48:00). A great debate on the state of films in March, right here on the EstoBro TV Podcast.Theme song made by iamRavedadInteract with the Gents of the podcast on the following social media platforms:X (Formally known as Twitter) YouTube InstagramBlog/websiteJoin the Discord serverSubscribe to the official playlist of the podcast

In this Showdown episode, Caroline and Conor are headed over the rainbow as they compare the two Disney entries to the Wonderful World of Oz: 1985's Return to Oz and 2013's Oz the Great and Powerful. While both films offer new stories, characters, and designs to the Oz pantheon, how well do they actually capture the magic of one of the greatest fantasy worlds ever imagined? JOIN TSL WORKSHOPS: https://tslworkshops.circle.so To say that Kelly Younger is a fairly tell expert is an understatement. He has built an entire career around his obsession with fairy tale principles, so much so that he has becoming a coveted story consultant, and frequent writer for THE MUPPETS universe, with credits on MUPPETS NOW and MUPPETS HAUNTED MANSION. Younger has developed at Amazon, Apple, Hulu, Disney Studios, Paramount Animation, Warner Animation Group, Dreamworks Animation, Disney Originals, and consulted at Skydance Animation and on both SHREK 5 and PUSS IN BOOTS 2 at Illumination. Producer/Writer/Director/Composer Jeffrey Sherman eagerly went into the family business, following his grandfather, Tin Pan Alley Songwriter Al Sherman and his Dad, Robert B. Sherman of the legendary Disney Songwriters, The Sherman Brothers. Jeff and his cousin Greg Sherman's film, The Boys, chronicles their fathers' Disney journey from Annette Funicello's hit single, Tall Paul, through The Disney Songbook of Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and legendary Disneyland Park rides including It's A Small World (After All!)Jeff joins us along with HIS next-gen musical son Alex, who offers up one of his beautiful songs. Jeff talks about his remarkable childhood which found him on sets with his Dad, at scoring sessions for Tom Sawyer and touring Disney Studios with Walt Disney! Jeff also describes the fraught relationship between his Dad and Uncle which somehow forged treasured tunes that have brightened the world. In celebration of its 60th anniversary, ABC and 20/20 recently aired 'The Untold Story of Mary Poppins, co-produced by Jeff and his cousin Greg. For this production, The ABC News archive doors swung wide open and the cousins discovered early drawings, backstage footage, archival interviews and the audio tape recordings of the Sherman Brothers attempting to win the hardened heart of the famously crusty Mary Poppins Author, P.L. Travers. The special also details how the Sherman Brothers both spotted Julie Andrews performing a scene from My Fair Lady on The Ed Sullivan. Each sensed that she would be a perfect Poppins but knew that the pick needed to be Walt's idea and so Broadway tickets were arranged and on cue, he walked backstage and offered Julie Andrews the part. The special also includes interviews with Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke and today's legends who have been moved and inspired by The Sherman Brothers including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Hanks and Emily Blunt.Jeff shares that through the noise of his father and uncle's contentious relationship, they both loved him and were generous with lessons and opportunities to visit sets, sit in on recording sessions and ask questions of greats like John Williams and Irwin Kostal. Jeff received piano lessons from his Tin Pan Alley Tunesmith grandfather, Al Sherman and Jeff's polio vaccine inspired the beloved classic, A Spoonful of Sugar. All that plus Alex Sherman remembers his grandfather and performs an original tune!Path Points of Interest:Jeff on Facebook Jeff on YouTubeJeff on IMDBThe Untold Story of Mary PoppinsThe Boys: The Sherman Brothers' StoryEntrance by Jeffrey ShermanAlex ShermanRobert B. Disney's new AI unit could potentially lead to the loss of hundreds of jobs in VFX and post-production, despite recent union agreements against AI replacing workers. The Office of Technology Enablement aims to streamline production in film and TV using AI and augmented reality, potentially disrupting traditional workflows. Jamie Voris, former CTO of Walt Disney Studios, will lead the new unit but report to Alan Bergman, co-chair of Disney Studios, despite the unit's focus on ESPN and Disney TV. The new unit will coordinate AI and mixed reality projects across Disney's divisions, potentially centralizing control over technological innovation. Disney's focus on creating best practices for itself rather than employees or the industry suggests a prioritization of cost-saving measures over worker interests. The unit's goal to ensure next-gen tech initiatives align with company goals could lead to standardization of AI use across Disney's diverse entertainment portfolio. Disney is launching a new AI division aimed at enhancing its film, TV, and theme park operations, while addressing potential job impacts and positioning itself as a responsible industry leader. 00:00 Disney is launching a new AI division to enhance post-production and augmented reality in studios and theme parks. 01:44 Disney is launching a new AI division to improve its film, TV, and theme park operations, which may affect jobs and industry standards. 04:11 Disney is creating a new AI division to explore opportunities and manage risks, potentially affecting around 100 employees in VFX and post-production. 05:55 Disney is launching an AI division to improve theme park experiences with augmented reality while addressing job displacement concerns in film and TV. 07:40 Disney is establishing a new AI division to enhance technology across its business segments while aiming to position itself as a responsible industry leader, though the specifics of this responsibility remain unclear. 09:04 Disney is launching a new AI division to align next-gen tech initiatives with company goals while ensuring individual business units retain control over their projects. 10:17 Disney's new AI division will primarily focus on post-production and visual effects rather than theme parks, despite rumors suggesting otherwise. 11:16 Disney is significantly investing in AI to establish best practices and lead the industry, with Bob Iger at the forefront of this initiative.

Even though saying goodbye is tough, today we are closing the chapter on Ken Anderson's involvement in Haunted Mansion's rich history. We uncover the final iteration of his Bloodmere Manor walkthrough storyline where a certain devious character added to the climax of this attraction may just sound familiar enough that it might have you thinking you've lost your head. Ken Anderson really needed to sell these story concepts to Walt, so we discuss how he utilized a DIsney Studios soundstage to bring his concepts to life for test audiences. Clayton wasn't ready for this, so I'll give you fair warning….spiders are involved. Where did Ken Anderson go from here and why did he leave the project? Welcome to another edition of Clayton Watches! This is the series where we get Clayton to watch a Disney animated film he's never seen before. This week we deep dive into the often forgotten, but highly dramatic film that marks a true turning point for the future of the Disney Studios…. The Fox and the Hound. Emily may have gone a bit overboard on research for this one (even though she says too much research isn't possible), so we had to split this into 2 parts! For this episode, we cover the highs and lows of this film's production, all the juicy behind the scenes drama, the end of an era for Disney animation, and spout off plenty of Fox and the Hound fun facts! Look out for next week where we will continue to spill the tea on further production issues and discuss Clayton's thoughts on seeing this film for the first time. With over 30 years in the animation industry, Tony Bancroft has been creatively involved in almost every position making an animated film, video, commercial, or short film. His animation and directing skills have been sharpened and honed while working at Walt Disney Feature Animation, Sony Pictures, his own animation company, Toonacious Family Entertainment, and currently, as an independent contractor working with Disney, Warner Brothers, and many more.Bancroft was accepted into the exclusive California Institute of the Arts (Cal-Arts) in 1987, where he thrived artistically and developed a lifelong passion for animation. Soon after, he realized one of his childhood dreams as he was hired to animate for Walt Disney Animation Studios. During his 12-year career with Disney Studios, Bancroft helped create and animate Pumbaa, the lovable warthog in The Lion King; Kronk, the dim-witted sidekick in The Emperor's New Groove; Cogsworth the nervous clock from Beauty and the Beast; and Iago the pestering parrot in Aladdin.Bancroft's most notable accomplishments include being the co-director of Walt Disney's animated film, Mulan, for which he received the Annie Award for Director of the Year from ASIFA-International; and animation supervisor of Sony's
In 2021, with UK Covid restrictions putting plans for his creative collaborations on hold, British artist and musician Peter Beatty decided to take the plunge into animation. He wanted to create an animated film as a music video to accompany a song he had written called Tell Me Where to Go. To make things extra interesting (and complicated!) he decided to shun modern digital approaches and instead to build a multiplane camera – a meticulous, painstaking system for stop-motion animation invented by Disney Studios in the 1930s and now rarely used. He then set to work animating with his film-making/photographer friend Joseph Boyle. Neither had made a stop motion animation before, but their final film has won seven international awards - and counting!
