Crusader Kings II Crusader Kings II is a dynasty simulator, where your goal is to guide your dynasty through the middle ages. It's very large game and this episode can only scratch the surface. You're a ruler of some kind, like count, duchess, king or empress to name a few. You need to manage vassals in your realm and keep your neighbours at bay. When you're not busy with that, you can relax and go hunting, build an observatory or join a secret society (to name just a few). Couple first games will be overwhelming, but it'll get easier when you start realizing how things affect to each other and what kinds of things you can do. Trevor Zaple, author of Prospero's Half-Life, joins Literate Gamer to discuss all the best ways to assassinate your family members for fun, profit, and empire expansion. In this week's episode Paradox's strategic narrative engine Crusader Kings 2 gets the GAMER treatment.

This week the guys are talking about simulators, more specifically Farming Simulator 17.  Dan has become King in Crusader Kings II and is playing Factorio, while Dudley has been playing The Witcher 3.  They are both excited about the fast approaching PAX South convention and Dan expresses concerns about meeting one of his favorite authors, Patrick Rothfuss.

It’s the first episode of the new year and Dan and Dudley are talking the things in gaming that has stuck with them through 2016.  Dan has been using Dudley’s computer to play Crusader Kings II and Mount & Blade: Warband.  Dudley has been playing inappropriate games at work.  Also they cover the Steam Award winners and how they are always wrong about everything.
