Across the globe, we're witnessing a rise in far-right movements. Just a few weeks ago, the far-right AfD party in Germany secured second place. This marks the first time a far-right party has gained this level of power in the country since the Second World War. Germany is not alone in this trend: Italy, Hungary, Finland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Croatia are now led by far-right governments. It may come as no surprise that many of these new leaders are increasingly hostile toward universities. In India, under Prime Minister Modi, universities have the lowest academic freedom since the 1940s. In Brazil, former president Jair Bolsonaro claimed that public universities transform students into leftists, gays, drug addicts and perverts.Meanwhile in the United States, Vice President JD Vance has called universities the enemy for allegedly teaching that America is "an evil, racist nation.” President Donald Trump even signed an executive order demanding higher education institutions dismantle their DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) programs. He's also pulled federal funding from universities that allow "illegal protests”. The U.S. president has [also demanded that Columbia University's Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies Departments be independently reviewed. But, despite this hostility, universities — and students — have historically been springboards for change. It was student protests 25 years ago that helped lead to the downfall of apartheid in South Africa. More recently, in Bangladesh, student protests helped topple the country's authoritarian leader. This past year, students across the world have raised public awareness of genocide in Gaza.Meanwhile, here in Canada, universities are facing financial pressure because of reductions in international student permits. This drop in revenue has caused alarming budget constraints at universities, revealing a deep reliance on international students as a revenue source. This has led to existential questions about our universities. With today's world in crisis, what should the role of the university be? And why are our public universities so underfunded? And how can they continue to serve their communities? To help tackle these questions, we sat down with two education professors at the University of British Columbia to discuss the function of the university in a democracy — especially in times of crisis. In this, our final episode of Don't Call Me Resilient, we speak with Annette Henry — a Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education and cross-appointed to the Institute for Race, Gender, Sexuality and Social Justice. Her work examines race, class, language, gender and culture in education for Black students and educators in Canada. We also speak with Michelle Stack, an associate professor in the Department of Educational Studies whose work looks at educational policy, university rankings and equity and education. At a time when critical conversations in higher education are under attack worldwide, can Canadian universities rise to the challenge and be a force for good?Thank you for spending your time with us.You can find links and more resources related to this episode here. This episode was coproduced by Ateqah Khaki (DCMR associate producer), Marsa Sittheeamorn (student journalist) and Jennifer Moroz (consulting producer). In today's episode, ‘The Importance of Literacy Education for ALL Learners', Chantal Bryan and Sarah Giles from the charity Teach Us Too join Dale for an engaging discussion. The conversation centres around Chantal's son, Jonathan, who faces significant challenges due to his complex physical disabilities. I was inspired by his incredible journey towards being able to communicate with his family and his progress in learning to read and write! Chantelle shares her experience of taking Jonathan out of special school to provide him with a literacy-focused education, emphasising the importance of not making assumptions about a child's capabilities based on their labels. With the support of educators like Sarah, Jonathan has made remarkable progress, including starting university courses in creative writing. As Chantal puts it, “Literacy is the key to unlocking their voice.” This inspiring episode highlights the importance of a literacy-rich environment, the need for inclusive educational practices, and the belief that all children should have the opportunity to learn to read and write. Chantal and Sarah discuss strategies for making literacy engaging and accessible, including the use of low-tech tools like E-Tran frames, which can aid communication for non-verbal learners. Listen to hear why literacy is vital for all students and how it opens doors to communication, personal expression and transforms lives.   About Chantal Bryan OBE No-one's story should ever involve a parent needing to remove a child from school in order to teach them to read and write.  If we had to do this for all our children, there would be national uproar.   Through my experience as a mother who took her son out of special school to teach him to read and write I have seen first hand the need for a greater understanding of the potential to learn in students with complex needs.  I have also experienced the immeasurable difference that being able to read and write makes both for a child or young person who is non-speaking, and also their family and friends around them.  This has driven and motivated my determination to make a difference for those children.   About Sarah Giles I trained as a primary school teacher and later became a SENCo within a mainstream primary school.   After a few years away from the classroom while I had my own family I was introduced to Jonathan & his family who were looking for the help of a primary school teacher for his home education.  I then worked with Chantal to teach Jonathan at home for several years.  When Jonathan established Teach Us Too, he asked me to take a lead on his behalf and I have been working with the charity ever since.   Contact Chantal & Sarah https://www.facebook.com/TeachUsToo https://x.com/TeachUsToo info@teachustoo.org.uk   Useful Links Jonathan's blog Jonathan's book – ‘Eye Can Write' Jonathan's Facebook page Emma Maskell the class that roared Transformational Tales Out of my Mind   B Squared Website – www.bsquared.co.uk  Meeting with Dale to find out about B Squared - https://calendly.com/b-squared-team/overview-of-b-squared-sendcast  Email Dale – dale@bsquared.co.uk  Subscribe to the SENDcast - https://www.thesendcast.com/subscribe   The SENDcast is powered by B Squared We have been involved with Special Educational Needs for over 25 years, helping show the small steps of progress pupils with SEND make. Few subjects present a greater challenge for parents than teaching children about God's design for their identity. How do we start these vital conversations without overwhelming our little ones or feeding them information beyond their comprehension? Catherine's guest, Elizabeth Urbanowicz, has developed a curriculum that helps parents navigate these challenging waters. Elizabeth is the founder of Foundation Worldview, an organization committed to providing Christian parents, educators, and church leaders with the resources they need to teach children to think critically and biblically. In this enlightening discussion, Elizabeth introduces her new curriculum aimed at kids ages 4-8 called "God's Good Design."  This episode emphasizes: 1.     The Importance of Being the First: Introducing children to these topics early helps parents establish authority and provide a biblical perspective. 2.     Maintaining Innocence While Informing: Teaching children about God's good design protects their innocence by providing them with the truth before encountering corrupted versions of identity. 3.     Living in Truth while Loving Others: Both Catherine and Elizabeth emphasize the need to always love those who disagree while we teach our kids God's truth about their identity. 4.     Resources for Parents and Educators: Foundation Worldview's curriculum and other recommended resources for guiding children and teens in sexuality education from a Christian perspective are highlighted. Listeners are invited to access these Foundation Worldview resources with a special $10 discount on family licenses using the code PARENT10. About the Guest Elizabeth Urbanowicz holds a B.S. from Gordon College in Elementary Education and Spanish, an M.S.Ed. from Northern Illinois University in Literacy Education, and an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. Elizabeth created Foundation Worldview to equip Christian parents with the resources they need to train children to soundly interpret Scripture, carefully evaluate every idea they encounter, and understand the truth of the biblical worldview. “Phonics is the topic that we focus on when we talk about the science of reading, but fluency has got to be part of that equation as well.”Dr. Timothy Rasinski, Professor of Literacy Education at Kent State University, joins us for an inspiring conversation about the importance of developing reading fluency as part of effective literacy instruction. Having written over 200 articles and 50 books, he brings a wealth of knowledge and insights into how fluency acts as the critical bridge between decoding and comprehension.Key Takeaways:Understanding Fluency: Fluency is not just about speed; it encompasses automaticity in word recognition and prosody, which reflects expression in reading. The Art of Teaching Fluency: Effective fluency instruction combines scientific strategies with creative teaching methods to engage students.Repeated Reading and its Impact: Repeated practice improves specific text fluency and enhances general reading abilities.Home and School Collaboration: It is crucial to engage parents in their children's reading development. Simple strategies, like reading and discussing poetry at home, can make a significant difference. The Future of Reading Instruction: Timothy Rasinski, Ph.D. ., emphasizes the need for a comprehensive approach beyond phonics to include motivation and cognition, integrating the art of teaching with the science of reading.Important Timestamps:00:00 His journey from economics to literacy education05:30 The misunderstood aspects of fluency 08:25 Discussion on the effectiveness of repeated reading practice15:36 The impact of balanced daily reading instruction19:30 Practical tips for parents to support reading fluency at home27:55 Comprehensive elements of the Science of Reading research and the future of literacy instructionConnect with Timothy Rasinski, Ph.D. E-mail: trasinsk@kent.edu Website: https://www.timrasinski.com/X: @timrasinski1Just Right Reader Science of Reading Instructional Materials and Resources: https://justrightreader.com/

And in the past couple of years many U.S. states have embraced legislation about how kids are taught to read in school. The phrase that you may have heard is “science of reading,” as in “let's make sure schools are using reading curricula based on science.” But what does that actually mean? And how would you, as a parent, know if your school was doing it?Today on ParentData, we're joined by journalist Emily Hanford, the host of the excellent podcast, Sold a Story. The topic of its first season was how reading is taught in American schools, and, for a lot of parents, it opened their eyes to the fact that there isn't just one way to teach reading and that many schools weren't doing it right. We talk about what the science says about the right approaches to reading, and then, more practically, about how parents can evaluate their own kids' learning and whether the legislation we're seeing is doing any good.Subscribe to ParentData.org for free access to new articles every week on data-driven pregnancy and parenting.

Alexis Samuels to help him reach more people with his noble mission On today's episode #328 we meet with someone who caught my attention through LinkedIn. He sent me a direct message, like people do often (I do appreciate these messages), and he was letting me know he was enjoying the podcast, highlighting that his passion was to help bridge the gap with the latest discoveries in brain science and mental health interventions to underserved populations. He went on to explain how he was doing this, and I was captivated. First because I still find it difficult to bridge this gap with science that we were not taught in schools, but come to find out it's really important for us to understand. ALL of us, not just as teachers, educators and members of society, but this understanding is coming to be as close to what oxygen is for our survival.  It's of critical importance that we understand this organ that controls everything that we are, and everything that we do. And I know what it takes for me to work on grasping this knowledge, breaking it down so that I understand these concepts first, and then work on a way to explain it to others, so we can all work on implementing these powerful ideas for change in our lives. I find this difficult work, but something I'm dedicated to doing, and then while talking with our next guest, I come to find out that he has created something to help us with this understanding-- a game, curated in neuroscience, that educates and addresses mental wellness in a way that we all can understand, using gamification.  Our next guest has a vision of evening out the playing field, using neuroscience with a game, that teaches economic power, specifically towards our underserved populations. I can't wait to see what we can learn from our next guest, D. Alexis Samuels, the Founder of Brain Game Learning Systems, FinLitX (Fine-Lit-X) Global Corporation and Prosperity Nation to help us to all open our eyes to new ways we can bridge this gap with making neuroscience more applicable for all of us in our day to day lives, especially those in our underserved populations, who need it the most.   Welcome Alexis, it's wonderful to meet you! Let's start from the beginning, Who is D. Alexis Samuels? You are the Founder of Brain Game Learning Systems, FinLitX Global Corporation, and Prosperity Nation. That's a lot! What are these companies and what motivated you to found them? Have you worked with any science or research institutions? Tell me more about the societal issues that form your missions' focus. Specifically, what aspects of neuroscience do you incorporate in your service, and what results have you achieved? Do you have case studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of introducing neuroscience in learning environments? What do you feel is the future of neuroscience adapted curriculum in general education? Others write books, but you create games. Is that intentional? Speaking of neuroscience, what's next for D. Alexis Samuels? Where can we learn more about your games, online curriculum, and platform? If someone wanted to speak with you, partner or collaborate, how can they reach you? Thank you very much for reaching out to me. You did stand out from the crowd as you offered ways to make my understanding of this complex topic to greater heights. I'm grateful to have had this time with you. The charges stem from an incident in June. Sinclair attributed his resignation to a planned move outside the city limits at month's end. Fellow council members expressed surprise at Sinclair's departure, with some speculating about the timing given the upcoming court proceedings. The June incident resulted in a three-car pileup, and Sinclair is accused of leaving the scene. He also faces additional legal challenges, including a lawsuit from Fifth Third Bank and the closure of his brewery. City officials are now working to set dates for a special election to fill the vacant council seat. STORY 2: Gov. Kemp Signs New Cobb School Board Map into Law Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has signed into law a new map for the Cobb County Board of Education, redrawing district lines as proposed by state Sen. Ed Setzler. The move follows a December ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Eleanor Ross that invalidated the previous map due to claims of racial gerrymandering. Setzler's map, intended to comply with Ross' order, will be in effect for upcoming elections. Despite protests from organizations such as the Georgia Youth Justice Coalition, Setzler stands by the map, asserting it adheres to the court's directive and represents the community's interests. STORY 3: Unemployment rate drops in Cobb Cobb County reported a preliminary unemployment rate of 2.6% in December, a decrease from November's 2.8%, but a slight uptick from the 2.4% recorded in December 2022. The labor force saw a reduction of 1,919 between November and December, with 430,543 individuals employed and 11,357 unemployed out of a total of 441,900 members. Despite the year-over-year increase in the jobless rate, the county saw an employment boost of more than 6,700 people from December 2022 to December 2023. Local cities Marietta and Smyrna also experienced varied unemployment rates, with December figures standing at 2.5% and 2.9% respectively. Compared to the Atlanta metro area and the state of Georgia, the county's jobless rates remain relatively low.   We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Break: Drake STORY 4: Mableton Council Raises Concerns About Mayoral Power Grab Members of the Mableton City Council have voiced concerns over a proposal by Mayor Michael Owens to form mayoral committees that would report directly to him, arguing it could undermine the council's authority. Owens' proposed resolution aimed to set up committees for various initiatives, with the mayor selecting members and chairpersons. Council members countered that this method contradicts the city charter, which outlines the council's responsibility in committee appointments. Owens explained that these committees would serve in an advisory capacity without decision-making authority. Despite his reassurances, council members called for revisions to ensure compliance with the city charter, stressing the importance of transparency and adherence to proper procedures in forming committees. The resolution has been set aside for further review. STORY 5: Chattahoochee Tech Announces 2024 Top Student and Instructor Chattahoochee Technical College has named its top student and instructor for 2024. Kristin Lee, an occupational therapy assistant program student, was awarded the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership, which acknowledges academic and leadership excellence. Pliashko expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating that being named the EAGLE winner has boosted her confidence and provided motivation to achieve her goals. STORY 2: Ponies treat hospital patients by relieving stress, boosting mental health Lindsey Head, 56, initiated Pixie and Pickles Adventures, a program that utilizes ponies for therapy in hospitals. The seven well-trained ponies, visiting Lister Hospital in Stevenage, Herts., provide stress relief and mental health benefits to patients. Lindsey, a ward sister, started the venture after witnessing the positive impact on her late father in a care home. The therapy ponies, wearing diapers and maintained with high hygiene standards, engage with patients, bringing temporary relief and joy. The program has grown, securing regular visits to the hospital and sparking discussions with Great Ormond Street. The ponies' visits complement the support provided by 14 therapy dogs at Lister Hospital, contributing to patient well-being and staff morale. STORY 3: Meditating can slash stress and anxiety for nurses: study Research indicates that Transcendental Meditation (TM) significantly reduced stress, anxiety, and burnout among frontline nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study involved 104 nurses in three Florida hospitals, with the TM group showing a 62% decrease in anxiety, 57% reduction in PTSD, and 24% decrease in burnout over three months, compared to minimal changes in the control group. TM, a simple technique practiced twice daily for 20 minutes, is not a religion or philosophy and aims to calm the mind. The study highlights TM's potential to enhance nurses' well-being and retain them in practice during challenging healthcare scenarios. The research, part of the Human Cell Atlas initiative, could have implications for treating muscle-related disorders or injuries and impact the diagnosis and treatment of congenital limb syndromes. The atlas provides a resource for understanding the complexity of limb development. STORY 5: Latino voters concerned about economy, feel neither party pays them close attention, poll says A UnidosUS survey of Latino voters in Georgia reveals that, with less than a year until the 2024 election, these voters are concerned about economic issues. While they align more with the Democratic Party on average, majorities believe both parties either don't care much about or are hostile toward their community. The top three issues for Latino voters are inflation (53%), jobs and the economy (47%), and healthcare (41%). The survey indicates that both parties need to engage more with Hispanic voters and address their concerns, with a focus on economic issues. How Can God Forgive Sins Like Abuse, Rape, and Murder? (w/ Elizabeth Urbanowicz) - Ep. 73

Christian Parent, Crazy World

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 9, 2023 31:55

There are some sins that seem unforgivable… and yet God forgives. But He doesn't forgive because those sins are okay. He doesn't brush those sins under the rug and say, “I'll let it slide this time, but try your best not to torture, rape, or murder anyone again.”  That is not God's response to these heinous acts.   So what is His response?   His response is the cross. His response was to take that sin upon Himself and pay the price so that every heinous act is punished. Every sin is paid for.   To thoroughly unpack this difficult topic, Catherine continues her conversation with Elizabeth Urbanowicz from Foundation Worldview, concluding last week's conversation which analyzed some of the complaints and inaccurate portrayals of God in the deconstruction movement. In this episode, Catherine and Elizabeth discuss who God is more fully, in particular the extent of His mercy which forgives all who repent.   The fact that God is willing to forgive horrific crimes against innocent human beings is hard to fathom. But God's mercy does not mean that the horrible things that happen in this world are not relevant or significant. God is not cavalier about these abhorrent sins. Quite the contrary. He paid the ultimate price to cover these sins.   Understanding all of God's attributes is necessary in order to understand who He is. We cannot separate His mercy from His justice. But mercy and justice are perfectly satisfied at the cross in Christ, which enables God to forgive every sin.   Elizabeth's bio: Elizabeth Urbanowicz holds a B.S. from Gordon College in Elementary Education and Spanish, an M.S.Ed. from Northern Illinois University in Literacy Education, and an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. Several years into her teaching experience, Elizabeth realized that despite being raised in Christian homes, attending a Christian school, and being active in church, her students thought more like the culture than like Christ. What Do Deconstructionists Often Get Wrong about God? (w/ Elizabeth Urbanowicz) - Ep. 72

Christian Parent, Crazy World

Deconstruction is a growing trend within evangelical circles. With a majority of Christian kids leaving the faith after they leave the nest, the number of young people sharing stories of how they are dismantling their faith is on the rise. Many of these stories have inaccurate or incomplete depictions of God.   Richard Dawkins opens the second chapter of his New York Times best-selling book The God Delusion describing the God of the Old Testament as “arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”   With false depictions of God rampant in our culture, a proper understanding of who God is according to His Word is vital for our children's spiritual foundation, and for ours.   Catherine's guest in this episode is a good friend of CPCW. Elizabeth Urbanowicz is founder and CEO of Foundation Worldview, a biblically-based curriculum for teaching children the Christian worldview. Elizabeth joins Catherine to have a deep conversation about who God is, His intrinsic attributes, while addressing some of the most popular complaints about God shared in these deconstruction stories.   We must understand all of God's attributes. We cannot isolate his mercy and his love from his justice and his holiness as all of these inherent character traits combine to comprise who God is. This conversation will help parents and kids understand the totality of God by addressing some of the most misunderstood parts of the Bible. Elizabeth began searching for curricular materials that would equip her students to think critically, helping them discover that Christianity is the worldview that lines up with reality. After not finding materials that effectively met this need, she created a curriculum that did.   Foundation Worldview exists to equip Christian parents with the resources they need to train children to soundly interpret Scripture, carefully evaluate every idea they encounter, and understand the truth of the biblical worldview. In this episode, Dr. Almitra Berry embarks on a transformative journey in education. As part of the summer Professional Learning Series, this episode focuses on the influence of racism on learners and how educators can address it in curriculum materials and instructional practices. Dr. Berry's passion for creating positive educational experiences shines through as she delves into the historical context of racism in education and highlights the ongoing inequities that persist today. Key Takeaways:Recognize the historical context of racism in education, acknowledging the long history of racial segregation and discrimination.Understand that despite progress, inequities still exist today, leading to unequal access to resources, biased disciplinary actions, and a lack of diverse representation in educational materials.Explore the four equity indicators, including impartiality and considering the cultures of all those affected, to create positive and inclusive educational experiences.Identify seven forms of bias in instructional materials: invisibility, stereotyping, imbalance and selectivity, unreality, fragmentation and isolation, linguistic bias, and cosmetic bias.Reflect on personal experiences or observations related to racial inequities in K-12 education and examine instructional materials for biases and messages they convey.Equip educators with tools and knowledge to address bias in instructional practices, promoting inclusivity, cultural relevance, and an equitable learning environment. In a world where education shapes the minds of tomorrow, it is imperative to confront and dismantle the biases ingrained in our instructional practices. By recognizing and addressing biases in curriculum materials and teaching strategies, we can nurture the full potential of every student. Let us embark on this inspiring journey together, learning from Dr. Berry's insights and embracing our role in shaping a future that celebrates diversity, promotes understanding, and fosters an inclusive educational experience for all. On this episode of Gospel Spice, Elizabeth Urbanowicz joins us for a discussion on equipping children with a biblical worldview. She shares about her organization, Foundation Worldview, which provides resources for parents and Christian leaders to teach children how to evaluate ideas through the lens of Scripture. We discuss the importance of discipleship within the home, stewardship of time and activities, and how to find a local church. Elizabeth also shares about her new curriculum, Attributes of God, for kids 4 and up, as well as the importance of teaching children to think well and critically. She and Stephanie talk about on the importance of role modeling rest and balance, and teaching children the gospel from an early age. The episode ends with an emphasis on the importance of investing in what matters and assessing how we invest our time and activities. Tune in to discover how you can help equip the next generation to follow God's plan and resist cultural pressures. Children are constantly exposed to false ideas. They are constantly bombarded with content from various sources, shaping their young minds in a rapidly changing world. As a parent or any Christian working with kids, it's essential to equip them to pursue truth and embrace a biblical worldview. Does the child in your care know how to discern what is true and what is false? Today, Stephanie welcomes Elizabeth Urbanowicz, founder of Foundation Worldview, to discuss the essential role of adults in raising children with the tools to critically approach the surrounding culture. Elizabeth helps Christian parents equip their children to think biblically and to carefully evaluate every idea they encounter. Foundation Worldview serves children as young as 4 years, and until they reach High School. With each episode, we tackle a different aspect of the essential stewardship of the children in our lives so that we will equip the next generation with the right tools to embrace fullness of faith in a changing world. Join us as we explore practical ways to raise children to have a strong foundation in Christ and be equipped to evaluate ideas that come their way. The interview covers topics such as the importance of fulfilling the command to be fruitful and multiply, how to role model rest, and the importance of giving children a firm foundation in the gospel. Elizabeth shares her own journey starting from an afterschool class for third through sixth graders and how Foundation Worldview grew from there. Religious Literacy has become a popular concept for navigating religious diversity in public life. As the first book to rethink religious literacy from the perspective of affect theory and secularism studies, this new approach calls for a constructive reconsideration focused on the often-overlooked feelings and practices that inform our questionably secular age. Our culture is selling a pack of lies to the next generation. Are your kids buying? Joining Catherine again in this episode is Elizabeth Urbanowicz, creator of Foundation Worldview, a Christian worldview curriculum for kids ages 14 to 4. Elizabeth has distilled the catalog of cultural falsehoods into a best-of list containing the top seven most prevalent lies being sold to our kids. They are: If I feel it, it must be true. Follow your heart. Love is affirming everything we feel. Faith is the opposite of knowledge. Humans are the products of blind, unguided evolution. You are the one you've been waiting for. A good God wouldn't judge. In this episode, Catherine and Elizabeth break down each lie and offer ways that you can teach your children to recognize them, reject them, and stand for what is true. We've got to know what these lies are if we want to help our kids not to fall for them. Intro  Elizabeth Founder of Foundation Worldview She holds a B.S. from Gordon College in Elementary Education and Spanish, an M.S.Ed. from Northern Illinois University in Literacy Education, and an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. Elizabeth began her professional career as an elementary teacher in a Christian school.  Several years into her teaching experience, Elizabeth realized that despite being raised in Christian homes, attending a Christian school, and being active in church, her students thought more like the culture than like Christ. Elizabeth began searching for materials that would equip her students to think critically, helping them discover that Christianity is the worldview that lines up with reality. After not finding any materials that met this need, she began creating a curriculum for her students.  Elizabeth first taught Foundation Comparative Worldview Curriculum as an after-school class for third through fifth graders, and the results were incredible! Students were transformed from passive recipients of information to active evaluators of every message they receive. Parents and teachers alike noticed the impact these materials had on students' media consumption, academic achievement, and everyday habits. This transformation lasted beyond the elementary years and guided students' thinking in junior high and beyond.  Top three takeaways  Parents teach their children the foundation of the Christian worldview so their children can carefully evaluate every idea they are presented with through the lens of the truth of God's word.  How Foundation Worldview equips children to carefully evaluate every idea they encounter and understand the truth of the biblical worldview.  How their lessons engage children and guide their thinking through their program.  Call to Action  Foundation Worldview Website  What is Next!  Thank you for supporting this show by listening and sharing with friends! The Christian worldview is challenged like never before in American culture. With a majority of kids leaving the faith after they leave the nest, Christian parents need to prioritize establishing a biblical worldview in the lives of our children. Our kids can't keep what they don't own, and they can't own what they haven't received.  But how do we teach our kids the Christian worldview? What foundational principles need to be covered and how do we break it down for young minds to grasp? Catherine's guest in this episode is an expert at teaching the Christian worldview to children. Elizabeth Urbanowicz holds a B.S. from Gordon College in Elementary Education and Spanish, an M.S.Ed. from Northern Illinois University in Literacy Education, and an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from Biola University.
