This month sees the team musing over museums, existing and yet to come. With the exciting news that 4 of the worlds biggest Star Wars collections are to be brought together in one place for public viewing, we're delighted to welcome back Gus Lopez and Duncan Jenkins to the podcast, to tell us more in our main interview. There's a canter through new acquisitions, a face-off of Action Playsets, and it's Rich's turn to get quizzical. We look at shout-outs from around the collecting world, with some rare US pieces, a curious LP, movie magazines, a blow moulded Vader, and a Danish Darth. In Rebel Briefings we get up to date with the latest stories including finalising figures with Fawcett, Rockett Fett ramblings, Dealing (or not Dealing), noting the passing of James Earl Jones and Robert Watts, cardback capers from New Zealand, silver fish in the attic, and a missing Amanaman. Licensee this month is Leewards Creative Crafts, and the wonderful worlds of latch hook rugs and stained glass sun catchers. As usual there's plenty of frivolous banter along the way, look out for the podcast in all the usual places, and tell your friends!

Hell there, Star Wars fans! Welcome to episode 234.We kick off with the future of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, sparked by Ewan McGregor's recent remarks about potential storylines for a second season. The hosts reflect on the original series' reception, noting that while many fans appreciated McGregor's return, others felt the series fell short of expectations. This dichotomy sets the stage for an exploration of how future content can better resonate with the audience while remaining faithful to the established lore. We also touch on the intricacies of storytelling, emphasising that any new series should not simply rehash past narratives but should instead build upon them, enriching the characters' journeys and deepening the emotional stakes.Other news throughout the galaxy:We pay tribute to the late Robert Watts, acknowledging his contributions to the original trilogy and the importance of recognising his behind-the-scenes talent that shaped the Star Wars legacy. An upcoming documentary on John Williams has us excited, discussing how his musical genius has elevated the storytelling of Star Wars and other iconic films.A couple of amazing props are going up for auction next week in London including a screen-matched Sandtrooper helmet from the icon "Move along" scene as well as Yoda's cane. Oof, if only we had a recent lottery win!Fans have got their knickers in a twist as actor Will Poulter would throw his hat in for the live casting of Cal Kestis. Yep, fandom, lol.Lastly, we tackle the tantalising idea of adapting the Clone Wars into a live-action format, a prospect that excites some fans while raising concerns for others. Could an adaptation live up to the beloved animated series while focusing on the darker, more brutal aspects of war that defined the Clone Wars? There's the potential for exploring character relationships, particularly the dynamics between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padmé, as well as the emotional fallout from the choices they make. The news stories from around the galaxy that we discussed on this episode...Iconic ‘Star Wars' Helmet Could Be The Memorabilia You're Looking For"It would be so disrespectful not to cast him": Will Poulter Was Never the Best Choice to Play Cal Kestis as Fans Demand Cameron Monaghan to Make His Live Action Star Wars DebutEwan McGregor Says Disney & Lucasfilm Are "Exploring" Ideas For 'Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi' Season 2Music by John Williams | Official Trailer | Disney+ - Jedi NewsLucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy Pays Tribute to Robert Watts - Jedi NewsAbout Spark of Rebellion:This is Spark of Rebellion, the weekly Star Wars podcast for casual fans and veterans alike. We are your hosts, Garry and Mark and every single Saturday we release a brand new episode bringing you the latest news, reviews & discussion on all things Star Wars. Ok, this is another one from the archives, but as with the Robert Watts recording, I've been wanting to put this one out in podcast form for a while too. This is a conversation I had with actor Garrick Hagon back in 2015. If that name doesn't ring a bell, how about Biggs Darklighter.Yes, Garrick is well known for his mostly deleted scenes from Star Wars in which he plays Luke's best pal. I'd met Garrick in the green room at a Star Wars Trilogy day at the BFI southbank earlier that year. I'd been invited there by my old mate Toby Phlipott, Jabba puppeteer and all round good guy.Garrick and I got chatting about how I'd done an interview with Toby and created what turned out to be a very popular video from it. So I suggested we do the same. In fact both of those videos are still on my vimeo channel. So I'll also link to that in the show notes. As with all interviews, when making a video you often cut out certain bits that you don't need. But with a podcast you can make it more long form. So that's what I've done here. The interview was done over the phone, so it won't sound as good as some of my more recent episodes. But it's still definitely very listenable. All the links

This is one from the archives, but I've been wanting to put this out in podcast for for some time now.Its my interview with the legendary producer Robert Watts from back in July 2018.My cameraman buddy Paddy and I visited Robert at his home, and a lovely home it was too. He was on such great form and just a delight to be with. We arrived armed with some F1 signed caps from Hamilton and Vettel because a little birdy had told us he was a motorsport fan. And he was absolutely delighted. That little birdy was actually David Whitely, who is going to be a guest on this very podcast in the coming weeks. It wasn't of course ever intended to be a podcast, so you'll hear my questions slightly off mic, but of course this is all about Robert and his work on 2001, Thunderball, Star Wars, Raiders, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi etc, so I'm sure you can forgive some audio irregularities. As the recording starts, Robert and I are talking about Stuart Freeborn and his creation of Yoda. You'll also hear friend of the podcast Paddy Tyndall ask the occasional question. I hope you enjoy it.All the links

In Fluxus Forms: Scores, Multiples, and the Eternal Network (U Chicago Press, 2020), Natilee Harren captures the magnetic energy of Fluxus activities and collaborations that emerged at the intersections of art, music, performance, and literature. Reacting against an elitist art world enthralled by modernist aesthetics, Fluxus encouraged playfulness, chance, irreverence, and viewer participation. The diverse collective—including George Brecht, Robert Filliou, Dick Higgins, Alison Knowles, George Maciunas, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Benjamin Patterson, Takako Saito, Mieko Shiomi, Ben Vautier, and Robert Watts—embraced humble objects and everyday gestures as critical means of finding freedom and excitement beyond traditional forms of art-making. While today the Fluxus collective is recognized for its radical neo-avant-garde works of performance, publishing, and relational art and its experimental, interdisciplinary approach, it was not taken seriously in its own time. The book offers insight into the nature of art in the 1960s as it traces the international development of the collective's unique intermedia works—including event scores and Fluxbox multiples—that irreversibly expanded the boundaries of contemporary art. Set in a 1947 version of Hollywood where cartoon characters (commonly referred to as "toons") and people co-exist, the film follows Eddie Valiant, a private investigator hired to help exonerate Roger Rabbit, a toon who has been framed for the murder of the Acme Corporation's owner. Walt Disney Pictures purchased the film rights for the film's story in 1981. Price and Seaman wrote two drafts of the script before Disney brought in executive producer Steven Spielberg and his production company, Amblin Entertainment. Zemeckis was brought on to direct the film while Canadian animator Richard Williams was hired to supervise the animation sequences. Production was moved from Los Angeles to Elstree Studios in England to accommodate Williams and his group of animators. While filming, the production budget began to rapidly expand and the shooting schedule ran longer than expected. The film was released through Disney's Touchstone Pictures banner on June 22, 1988. It received acclaim from critics, who praised its visuals, humor, writing, and performances (particularly Hoskins), with critics and audiences considering it to be "groundbreaking". It grossed over $351 million worldwide, becoming the second-highest-grossing film of 1988. It brought a renewed interest in the Golden age of American animation, spearheading modern American animation and the Disney Renaissance.[7] It won three Academy Awards for Best Film Editing, Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Visual Effects and received a Special Achievement Academy Award for its animation direction by Williams. In 2016, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[8][9]

It was facilitated by the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) activity in Baltimore founded by Dr. Herbert Kelman and Robert Watts in 1952, an interracial coalition which laid the ground work for the national student-led sit-in movement six years before Greensboro (7:10). In 1953 CORE integrates (Kresge) KMart lunch counters in Baltimore (8:15). In 1953 CORE integrates Woolworth lunch counters in Baltimore (9:37). Juanita Jackson, following the murder of 9 African Americans by Baltimore Policemen from 1937-1942, and Pvt. Broadus being gunned down for hailing a non-licensed cab, she organized 150 Baltimore Organizations into a Citizen's Committee for Justice to form a 2000 person caravan of busses and cars to travel the 25 miles to Annapolis to meet with the Governor Herbert O'Conor and demand change on April 24, 1942 (21:45). The Bethel AME Church leadership in Baltimore Social Change work was established in 1785 with its first official pastor Rev. Daniel Coker penning the first African Descent American written anti-enslavement Tract in 1810, the Dialogue between a Virginian and an African minister (26:54). Mr. Church member Charles Hacket, a conductor on the underground railroad, led three years of indignation meetings (prayer and fasting for 24 hours in the church for change) to defeat 1860 bill to enslave all 100,000 African descent freemen in Maryland. (23:44). In 1863 Hacket recruited two United States Colored Troop regiments in Baltimore, the 4th Regiment in September and the 7th Regiment. December 5-8 1879 Indignation Meetings held to hire first African Descent teacher, Roberta Sheridan, in Baltimore public schools since 1865 when they were all fired. In 1885, Rev. Harvey Johnson founded the Order of the Regulators - a civil rights advocacy organization. My daughter asked for a prayerful interlude, and we sing the Song of the Prophets (25:41). Chief Justice Thurgood Marshall, with the support of Alpha Phi Alpha, integrated UMD law school with the case of Donald Gaines Murray.

What can you say about LEGENDARY producer Robert Watts that hasn’t already been said? I, Will Conlon, got to talk with him one on one. That hasn’t been said. He has been involved with the most iconic and industry-changing movies ever created. The original STAR WARS Trilogy, the first 3 INDIANA JONES films, WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT, ALIVE, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, 007 THUNDERBALL, 007 YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE and the list goes on and on. Throughout his life Robert has let his passion guide him. His commitment, kindness, gentle humility, intense creativity and ability to navigate even the craziest film shoots are what has brought filmmakers like George Lucas and Steven Spielberg back to work with him again and again. Now in his 70’s Robert has no intention of slowing down. In fact, he would say he’s only 12 years old with 77 years of experience. So, he’s got a lot left to do. He’s incredibly generous and graciousand shares some of the most fun and fascinating stories you could hear. But mostly, he’s just a great guy to be around and have a pint with, regardless of his history and success in the entertainment industry.
