Tired of outdated and conventional motherhood advice? Are you anti- (insert "Big" + industry name) exploiting the mother-baby dyad for financial gain? Do you prefer to think critically about practices and philosophies across the pregnancy to motherhood spectrum? If you said "yes" to any of the above questions, then you're going to fit right in. Don't worry— this is not another "mainstream mama" podcast.Whether you are a soon-to-be mom or a seasoned mom who has "seen it all," April and Kat promise to never shy away from topics that are far too controversial to discuss at the local playground with the "normie" moms or with your child's pediatrician. These topics should not be controversial at all, but sadly in our highly-censored society, almost anything can be interpreted as such. We're so glad you discovered us! Join us every other Friday as we step outside of our comfort zones, say what many of you are thinking but too afraid to admit out loud, and examine mainstream mom narratives through a funny and honest lens. We may just even change your mind about deeply held beliefs if you're open to it!

The Moms Off The Record podcast is a refreshing and informative resource for women and parents, discussing topics that are often considered taboo. Hosted by April and Kat, this podcast dives into discussions about pregnancy, motherhood, and important decisions surrounding these areas.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the willingness of April and Kat to speak openly on topics that many people shy away from. They address subjects such as birth control, informed consent, and holistic living with confidence and research-backed information. Their frankness allows listeners to feel validated in their questions and concerns, while also providing them with valuable resources for further exploration.
Another great aspect of this podcast is the level of knowledge and research that April and Kat bring to each episode. They provide well-researched data and cite reputable sources to back up their opinions. This gives listeners a sense of trust in the information being presented, allowing them to make informed decisions regarding their own bodies and families.
Unfortunately, one downside to this podcast is that it may not be relatable to everyone. The hosts speak from a specific perspective and may not fully encompass the experiences or beliefs of all listeners. However, they do make an effort to present different viewpoints when discussing controversial topics.
In conclusion, The Moms Off The Record podcast is a valuable resource for women and parents looking for candid discussions on motherhood-related topics. With their well-researched information and open dialogue, April and Kat provide support and empowerment for listeners seeking to make informed decisions for themselves and their families.

Remember when we were all about baby-led weaning? While many aspects initially appealed to us, and it was admittedly fun to watch our babies feed themselves 100 new foods prior to age 1, our values and priorities have shifted as we have learned what matters most. Kate Pope, mom of two, nutritionist, certified GAPS practitioner, and founder of the Regenerative Cooking School, explains why and how the GAPS diet is crucial for healing and sealing everyone's gut— from baby's to mom's and beyond— and how the GAPS protocol is what reverses common but not normal symptoms such as eczema, food sensitivities and CMPA (cow's milk protein allergy), just to name a few.We talk about some taboo foodie topics like the culprit behind the rise in egg and peanut allergies, why sweet potato is not an ideal first food, and those popular plastic food puree pouches our society can't seem to part ways with.Follow Kate at @wildnutritionist on Instagram. In this episode, we call out the problems that have arisen as a result of adoption of and adherence to the Freebirth Society ideology while also holding space for a woman's legal and moral right to choose to have a Freebirth.Ultimately, this is about the need for leaders to act in integrity and for everyone to remember that rarely two truths exist in extremes. All choices are valid, however in order for them to be authentically empowered, they must be made with true informed consent and an informed risk assessment which is unlikely to happen if a birthworker has solely received a virtual training rooted in biases, hyperbole, and a lack of evidence, just as much as it's unlikely to happen with a fearful OB who is encouraging weekly routine ultrasounds and a 39 week induction. We unpack the overused and misused phrase “variations of normal” in order to delineate a few examples of what would actually be abnormal and a reason to seek additional support.Freebirth continues to be a valid choice, however women deserve to have the full scope of outcomes objectively presented to them in all fairness.Risk is inherently everywhere, and there will always be a mysterious element to loss, however the key is to walk into your pregnancy with a true sense of confidence and options rather than a false sense of one.Recommended resources:Free MOTR Questions Guide to Vet Your Birthkeeper/AttendantReddit, so you can be the judge of what's wrong with this organizationNathan Riley podcast episode featuring Kristine LauriaDr. Sarah Wickham's book “What's Right For Me”“Whose Body Is It” podcast episode featuring midwife Mary Lou SingletonSupport the showJOIN OUR NEW, PRIVATE COMMUNITY! We kick off our two-part Circumcision series— a topic you all have been begging us to cover for the last two years!— with none other than the Executive Director and Chairperson of Intact America, Georganne Chapin MPhil, JD.There is nothing we shy away from in this episode. Don't worry, we don't walk on any egg shells. While debunking common circumcision myths, like how this surgery helps to prevent UTIs, STDs, and HIV, is fun and intriguing, Georganne reminds us that it's important to shift our focus away from debunking myths (don't worry, we still do!) and instead onto exercising our innate common sense about the necessity of this practice. You'll hear about the origins of this surgery, which countries do it and why, and the undeniably uncomfortable details of the procedure itself. This isn't for the faint of heart, but if you are going to put your son through this, then you should know what it entails, FULLY. Georganne explains why circumcision is not exclusively a men's issue, and why circumcision has a lasting effect on women from the mothers of circumcised sons to the future female partners of circumcised men. Women DO have a voice in the circumcision debate, and soon-to-be moms should not sit on the sidelines while tasking their husbands to call the shots on this permanent, life-altering choice on behalf of their son.We learn about the lasting trauma of the procedure, the function and benefit of foreskin, how the trends and stats have changed over time in regard to the choice to circumcise, and why we prefer the term "intact" over "uncircumcised."Follow @intactamerica on instagramCheck out Intact America's resourcesResources mentioned in this episode:This Penis Business, Georganne's bookIntact AmericaCircumcision, an Elephant in the Hospital Excerpts - the video April references Skin in the Game Event in New York with Alan Cumming April 30th, 2025!Foreskin Day 2025 VideoHealthy Children Foreskin Retraction resourceReport circumcision injury through DoNoHarm.ReportPlease Don't Cut the Baby: A Nurse's Memoir Listen to our friend Fierce Lizzie's episode on circumcision on Unmedicated Girlies podcast hereSupport the showJOIN OUR NEW, PRIVATE COMMUNITY! What can we Westerners learn about raising intrinsically happy, self-sufficient, and helpful children from the Maya of Mexico, the Inuit of the Arctic Circle and the Hadza of Tanzania? Well, it turns out, a lot!WEIRD cultures (Western, educated, industrialized, rich, and democratic) have been making parenting unnecessarily more difficult than it was designed to be. From helicopter and free-range parenting, to distracting children instead of intentionally involving them in quotidian household responsibilities, we are unwittingly becoming the source of our modern-day parenting grievances. With the help of Michaeleen Doucleff, mother and New York Times best-selling author of one of our favorite reads, “Hunt Gather Parent,” we break down modern-day parenting myths and turn to our much wiser, indigenous peers for the practical tips we're all yearning for when we are in the trenches of motherhood.Resources: Buy "Hunt, Gather, Parent" from Michaeleen's website!Let Grow: Leading the Movement for Childhood IndependenceSupport the showJOIN OUR NEW, PRIVATE COMMUNITY! Lahl couples her 25 years of experience as a pediatric critical care nurse, a hospital administrator, and a senior-level nursing manager with a deep passion to speak up for those who have no voice.Women are often sold on surrogacy, IVF, and sperm donation as either a beautiful way to help a family in need or the best solution to their fertility issues. The problems with the solutions Big Fertility pushes extend beyond a lack of informed consent; there are not only significant medical risks for moms and their future children (which are often downplayed or not mentioned at all) as well as bioethical concerns which many have never even considered until well after consenting to one of these reproduction methods. If we continue on this transhumanist trajectory, we can expect so see the normalization and encouragement of artificial eggs and wombs. On the bright side, the tides are turning. Countries are waking up to the harms of some of these practices and setting firm boundaries to protect women and children. Some countries, like America, unfortunately still operate like the Wild West and put the wellbeing of mothers and children last at the expense of the desires of intended parents. Pamela “came out” as “the truthful therapist” a few years ago on the basis of her simply speaking the truth. Not HER truth, but rather the truth. This of course, offended many (unsurprisingly), however through her commitment to bust myths propagated by the trans-humanist agenda which prey upon our vulnerable and impressionable youth, she has successfully forged her own path as a trailblazer for other therapists who are not work and equally committed to helping children accept the body they were born into rather than affirming a lie. Mandolyn Crotts, mom of two and founder of Carry Them Ministries in Nigeria, revealed the horrifying, fatal obstetric practices, fear of breastfeeding and dangerous promotion of infant formula which is responsible for the demise of so many babies. Here in America we often hear trite slogans such as “fed as best!” to make women feel better about formula usage. However in a place like Nigeria, formula feeding is actually killing babies, and breastfeeding saves lives. We learn about the heartbreaking lies women have been told from fearful and misogynistic doctors and nurses who know nothing about birth or breastfeeding. Separation of motherbaby from day 1 is not only common, but it's extremely normalized. Even skin-to-skin is viewed as dangerous. There is a light at the end of this dark tunnel, and that is the success stories of babies who transformed from “failure to thrive” as a result of risky formula consumption, to full on thriving thanks to Mandolyn and her team's lactation support. This support includes some unconventional methods often overlooked here in the Western world. And of course we couldn't ignore the current culture wars, especially in light of La Leche League's woke inclusion policies. Hear what Mandolyn has to say about “inclusive” breastfeeding vernacular in a place like Nigeria where babies are literally on the brink of death. If you are feeling inspired by Mandolyn's mission, please consider making a financial donation at carrythem.org to help save these babies' lives.Follow Mandolyn's non-profit @carrythemministries on InstagramSupport the showJOIN OUR NEW, PRIVATE COMMUNITY! Matrescence is defined as the process of becoming a mother, however this is a term that hardly anyone has ever heard of; even women who have recently become mothers. Holly, mother of two, women's circle leader, and former ICU nurse reflects on the experiences that led to her deep appreciation for and curiosity of matrescence. Our fast-paced, modern, industrial, Western culture tells us to snap back just weeks after giving birth, however brain scans will tell us this is actually physically impossible to do. Everyone knows what to expect during puberty when a girl morphs into a woman, however nobody talks about what to expect during the next major transition from maiden to mother or even the final major shift from motherhood to perimenopause and finally menopause.Resources Mentioned:Matrescence–birth of the mother by Dr. Alexandra Sacks Anthropologist Dana Raphael in her book Being Female: Reproduction, Power and ChangeSupport the showJOIN OUR NEW, PRIVATE COMMUNITY! Kat's Birthkeeper Ali Coulas joins us today. We learn about her spiritual path to becoming a Labor & Delivery as well as what led her out of the system and into the sovereign birth world, where Kat was her first sovereign birth she attended. We venture to answer questions like: What does it actually mean to “hold space” for women? How can birthkeepers hold just enough space without encroaching to closely on a woman or just being a distant fly on the wall? How do yin (feminine) and yang (masculine) energies manifest themselves in labor and birth, and what does this mean for the type of birth we can expect to experience? We also delve into Kat's false pre-eclampsia diagnosis which Ali discovered after reviewing Kat's medical records from her first birth. You won't want to miss this! Unfortunately, birth sabotage happens all the time in the system, and you get to hear a few stories of this blatant practice in today's episode. We're back just the two of us like old times.Kat kicks off this episode reflecting on how wildly different her first birth with her son was compared to her redemptive, sovereign homebirth outside the medical industrial complex with her daughter just 26 months later.Kat's initiation into motherhood in 2022 involved bait-and-switches, homebirth medwifery sabotage, and an unhealthy fixation on blood pressure resulting in fear mongering, a distrust and pathology of birth, an unnecessary hospital transfer, false pre-eclampsia diagnosis, and ultimately a c-section.Fast forward 17 months when Kat discovered she was pregnant with her second baby after just the first try (thanks Anisa Woodall!)Kat recounts her journey from deprogramming and unlearning everything she thought she ever knew about birth, to becoming fully embodied, taking radical responsibility for her birth choices, and completely surrendering to and trusting every step of the process. All of this laid the groundwork for having a mother-led, intuitive, homebirth in the absence of any licensed provider in favor of the unconditional support of her husband and radical birthkeeper Ali. NO cervical checks, membrane sweeps, inductions, doing anything to “get labor going,” ultrasounds, Doppler, suggestions or threats of a hospital transfer, coached pushing, or management of the third stage of labor.Kat also discusses the process of obtaining a birth certificate when you choose to give birth outside of the system (if that's the route you wish to take) and answers questions you posed about the birth on Instagram.Resources we referenced:Complete Guide to FreebirthHow to avoid birth certificate and SS#Anisa Woodall Resilient Motherhood (code MOTR for $100 off) SubLuna tinctures for pregnancy, birth, and postpartumKristin Hauser's tinctures and Postpartum herbs for sitz bath/peri bottleKat's Wild Pregnancy EpisodeOur Episode with Anisa WoodallSupport the showDONATE (Thank you!!

We sit down with the one and only Lily Nichols, RDN & CDE— author of Real Food for Gestational Diabetes, Real Food for Pregnancy, and her latest work, Real Food for Fertility, to set the record straight and debunk myths about some of the most common preconception and pregnancy routine practices and complications. The nutritional choices we make do have an impact on all of these areas, and the mainstream medical paradigm is slow to adapt, per usual. In this episode we discussed:What is the real deal with the infamous glucose test? Why is the artificial orange drink a.k.a. Glucola the “gold standard” when testing women for Gestational Diabetes, and what are the shortcomings with the 50g, 75g, and 100g screening tests? How can Gestational Diabetes be managed, and what is the problem with the mainstream medical model's current guidelines for GD management? When it comes to preconception and fertility, we of course have to mention The Pill. What must women know about their fertility when coming off the pill, and how does hormonal birth control impact future fertility outcomes and nutrient stores? What is recurrent miscarriage and how can women uncover the root cause?Male Factor Fertility— what is one thing all men can do across the board to contribute to the fertility equation, since we know they play a role in this too? What is the biggest scam with mainstream advice given for gestational hypertension, and what guidance should women follow instead?Find Lily hereReal Food for Pregnancy Real Food for Gestational Diabetes Real Food for Fertility Follow Lily on instagramDONATE (Thank you!!

The (K)at is finally out of the bag! Kat is expecting baby #2!! It would be a little weird if we withheld the most compelling aspects of this pregnancy as two moms who host a podcast dedicated to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, so we of course had to divulge the details. Plus, this is too exciting not to share!Kat fearlessly addresses some elephants in the room, explains what she will confidently be opting into vs. declining during her pregnancy, what distinguishes this pregnancy from her last pregnancy, and we will wrap up with a Q&A from those of you who dropped your questions into our recent IG stories box.Resources Mentioned: Real Food for Pregnancy by Lily Nichols, RDNFullWell Fertility PrenatalsReal Food for Gestational Diabetes by Lily Nichols, RDNThe Freebirth SocietyTempdrop Fertility TrackerResilient Motherhood Guide w/Anisa Woodall (code: MOTR for $100 off!)DONATE (Thank you!!

We hear from Speech and Language Pathologist Maria Gianfilippo, Founder of Organic Speech Therapy, about what it takes to raise talkative babies and toddlers.First, it's important to know what the milestones and averages are in regard to spoken words by specific age targets. Yes, every child does develop at his or her own pace; however, within *reason*.We reflect upon the main contributors to a burgeoning vocabulary versus speech delays that should raise red flags. We learn about optimal environments and lifestyles parents can embody in order to maximize their child's communication capacity. We'll discuss why TV shows are not an appropriate substitute for 1:1 human interaction when it comes to teaching our children. It's a tough pill to swallow, but even the "educational programs" are not ideal. TV is a tool and we need to treat it as such. You'll also hear about the “wait and see” approach still recommended by pediatricians and the main reasons why speech delays have been on a significant rise over the last few years.Learn about the benefits of bi-, tri-, and quadlingualism.Resources:10% off Talkative Babies and Talkative Toddlers with our links.Note: for the Talkative Toddlers course, the discount code only works if the pay-in-full option is selected.Talkative Babies CourseTalkative Toddlers CourseMaria's free book resourceMilestone document resourceFollow Maria at @organicspeechtherapypllc If you click Maria's Talkative Toddlers & Babies links in her IG bio, you can also apply code MOTR for the 10% discount.Unapologetically Unmedicated episode 85: Signs Your Induction is BSFollow @FierceLizzie on InstagramDONATE (Thank you!!

In this episode, we share our takes on: what we think of baby-led weaninghow it's different from simply “starting solids” overcoming obstacles mothers face when considering solids (fear of choking, allergens, breastfeeding relationships, etc). why we don't care about added sodium for infants and what that evidence actually says (hint: it's inconclusive)how we feel about purée pouches and stereotypical “baby food”why your pediatrician is not the expert on baby-led weaningsigns of readiness and why anything under 6 months old is too young to start solidsStay tuned for part 2 for an even deeper dive on meals we offer our children, BLW hacks, staying the course during travel and dining out, and so much more.Resources:Lily Nichol's article debunking the infant sodium intake mythEpisode #84 of Unapologetically Unmedicated: Buy for Baby, Bye for Mommy with Andrea HaskinsKatie Ferraro's Baby Led Weaning Made Easy Program (not affiliates, but we loved this program nonetheless)DONATE (Thank you!!
Some women want two under two so they can “get the baby phase over with” in one fell swoop. Other women intentionally space their children 3+ years apart for various reasons such as socioeconomic and health.Whether you are currently considering conscious or unconscious conception, the choice of how far apart to space your babies can impact you in ways beyond what you may have imagined. So, what is the best interpregnancy interval between children? Is there even such a thing? Is one length more optimal than another? There are both objective and subjective answers behind this enigma. We polled our loyal followers in our Instagram stories back in November about what the “perfect” age gap is between children, and we share those results along with your reasoning. We also share the risks, benefits, pros and cons of short and long interpregnancy intervals. Did any of these surprise you?If you are curious on what the latest evidence says about optimal pregnancy spacing, we read excerpts from the “Pregnancy Spacing” chapter in Lily Nichols' book “Real Food for Pregnancy.”The bottom line is- like everything that has to do with motherhood choices- only YOU will know the best interpregnancy interval for your body and your family. Isabella Malbin, the host of the “Whose Body Is It” podcast, is also a life-coach, hypnotist and former "liberal" feminist turned radical truth teller.Isabella shares what initially peaked her years ago; euphemistic, sanitized terms like “belly birth” in lieu of cesarean section is just one example. We hear why she was kicked out of her Fertility Awareness Training program and why her Doula training program found her vernacular rooted in truth and refusal to erase “women” and “mother” from her vocabulary to be a threat. Why none of us on this recording use pronouns.Isabella theorizes on the root cause of the uprising of female erasure in language amongst most birth workers. Why is “inclusive language” actually more harmful than innocuous? Isn't there a seat for everyone at the table? We debate the question “just because you can do something, does it mean you should?” when it comes to ART (assisted reproductive technology). Why do some cultures justify surrogacy whereas others accept pregnancy may not be in the cards? Are guilt and shame actually healthy reactions to our choices instead of emotions we should aim to avoid?Donate to Isabella's friend Marva Zohar's nonprofit, Land Where Women Heal, so Israeli survivors of the Hamas attacks can receive life-saving services.Donate to Isabella's personal campaign for immediate therapeutic help for Israeli survivors of the Oct 7th attack created in memory of her late father.Links to Isabella's masterclasses and private group coaching community:The Medical & Legal Ethics of IVF & SurrogacyUnpacking Common Myths & Misconceptions About Indigenous Two-Spirit & Third Genders Master ClassInoculating Our Children Against Transgender Ideology Master ClassGetting Real About Porn: Examining the Industry of Anti-Woman PropagandaThe Great Reset of Motherhood: Gender Identity, Transhumanist Tech & the Theft of BirthContent & ConfidenceBecome the ResolutionYou can view our resources here.If you have a question or would like to work with us 1:1, please book with us here. For discounts across our favorite products and services, check out our affiliate links/codes.If you're feeling philanthropic, please consider making a financial donation— even $5 goes a long way in helping us reach a wider audience to help other moms and soon-to-be moms think more critically and have the courage to mother against the mainstream. Since we're not fans of the term “stay-at-home mom” because of its implications that the mom doesn't really “work” but rather just chills out at home, we're comparing our lives as a full-time mom at home vs. a full-time working (in the traditional corporate sense) from home mom. That was a mouthful!Context: Kat resigned from her high-pressure, corporate career two months prior to her son's birth and never returned to work- by choice- and he is now 14 months old (at the time this episode aired). April returned to her full-time corporate career in a work-from-home arrangement when her daughter was 4 months old. In today's highly-anticipated episode, we call out the most riveting takeaways from the Lancet's Breastfeeding Series. What you will learn:The history of CMF (commercial milk formula)What “the code” is, why it's not enforced, and how CMF manufacturers circumvent or directly violate the code at the expense of mothers' and babies' healthThe specific Machiavellian marketing strategies that CMF conglomerates implement globally in order to capitalize on, exploit, and hoodwink women into believing formula is better for their babiesWhat is at stake for moms, babies, and society when breastfeeding is replaced by formulaThe myth and misleading nature of the push for “gender equality” & our thoughts on positive vs. harmful feminism and its ties to corporatism, the schism of the nuclear family, and how it all relates to how we feed our babiesThe precise playbook CMFs use to dupe mothers and undermine breastfeedingHow “experts” spanning from midwives & nurses to doctors & scientists have been bought and paid for and cannot be blindly trustedIf this episode left you feeling angry at CMFs, you're not alone. The MOTR moms are back! In today's episode, we welcome Nicole Cheever who is a mom of three, EC (Elimination Communication) connoisseur, and co-host of the Go Diaper Free podcast for an illuminating and humbling conversation on all things EC. Nicole reveals how and when the diaper industry began prying its avaricious claws into busy moms, and how the downward spiral our modern lifestyle rooted in convenience culture has had detrimental psychological and physical impacts when we choose to leave kids in diapers well into toddlerhood and beyond. EC doesn't have to be this all or nothing idealistic and unattainable endeavor that only crunchy full-time stay-at-home moms can accomplish. Just the opposite, actually! Nicole dissects the assumption that prematurely pottying kids is "traumatic". After listening to today's episode, you'll hopefully feel assured that regardless of your prior traumas or pitfalls with EC'ing and potty-training and despite your children's ages, you can take simple actions and make mindset shifts to successfully EC and ultimately fully potty train starting right now.Feeling inspired and ready to take on the not-so-challenge?
