Because our employees are experiencing, you know, 20 to 25 percent a day in downtime, due to the internet speed.每天有20%到25%的时间,我们的员工因为网速慢而停工。They're not, you know, being able to effectively do their work as efficiently as possible. We have been waiting for a year now to have fiber brought to us.他们没办法尽可能高效地开展工作。我们已经等了一年,就等着光纤接入。They just say that we're not within their territory and they don't have to provide us service.他们只是说我们不在他们的辖区内,他们不必为我们提供服务。If it's an issue of giving service that's necessary for public safety, then there's a very strong social argument or public argument.如果提供网络事关公众安全,肯定会有强烈的公众要求或社会要求。So, hospitals, the police, homeland defense, perhaps other emergency services that are provided in the area.这个区域的医院、警察、国土安全部和其他应急服务机构肯定都有网络。It's a little bit more difficult to make an argument that then you also need to subsidize internet service to an individual household.但是如果说每家每户都要能联网,那就很困难了。The total package will probably be around 5,000 dollars by the time it's brought to us, installed, and all the fiber and things are done within the building.联网这一整套服务下来可能要花费5000美元左右,从安装、光纤到建筑内部的设置。I want to say packages are going to be around the 80 to 100 dollar range, depending on what speed you get.等设备运到我们这里、安装完毕,并且楼内所有光纤等设施都铺设完毕后,总费用大概在5000美元左右。We will be able to get up to, I want to say, 100 megabits per second or faster.这样我们就能用上100M的网,甚至更快的。Senator Chuck Grassley, we emailed him with just one time.我们给参议员查克·格雷斯利发过一次邮件。I told him about our dream of pursuing, buying this farm property, building a new home out here,我告诉他我们一直追求的梦想,就是买下这个农场,在这里建一个新家,wanting to work from home but was not able to because the internet provider at that point did not have high speed.渴望在家工作却未能如愿,因为当时的网络供应商没有高速宽带。It will happen, I'm just not sure when. But he said this Connect America funding was made available to internet providers through all of Iowa.我们肯定能用上高速网络,就是不知道什么时候。但他说爱荷华州的每个互联网供应商都使用“连接美国基金”。If we plowed fiber to every one of these, you're probably talking several hundred thousand dollars.如果要在每家每户铺设光纤,可能会花费几十万美元。It could be in the million dollars in some of these exchanges just to serve two, three, four or five customers.有时候给两到五个客户提供服务,费用就可能高达数百万美元。At the end of the day, the customers are going to be paying for that in one way or another. It may be through property tax or it may be through service subscription.归根结底,客户无论如何都得为此买单。可能是通过房产税,也可能是通过服务订阅。Now, if it's only relatively high income people who are the subscribers, they're the ones who are then being subsidized by the people who don't buy the service, who are paying through their property tax.如果现在只有高收入人群订阅网络服务,这些人实际上是在接受那些不购买该服务的人的房产税补贴。We currently use the CAF funding, Connect America funds. We've been in that program for several years, been very active in it.我们目前使用CAF资金,我们参与那个项目已有数年之久,一直非常积极地投入其中。And it helps us fund projects like this. Had we not had that funding, I'm not sure we would have been able to reach out and serve all these rural customers. 这帮助我们为类似的项目提供资金。如果没有那笔资金,我不确定我们是否能够接触并服务所有这些农村客户。
“What's Buggin' You” segment for Tuesday 1-13-26
It's Monday, January 12th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Iran regime cuts nationwide internet access as protests claim 44 lives On January 8th, Iran was plunged into a nationwide internet blackout as anti-regime protests intensified, severely restricting communication across the country as demonstrations entered their second week and the death toll reached 44, reports Fox News. Before news of the latest killings came in, President Donald Trump, in an interview with Hugh Hewitt on Thursday, issued a warning to the Iranian regime. TRUMP: “I have let them know that if they start killing people -- which they tend to do during their riots, they have lots of riots -- if they do it, we're going to hit them very hard.” HEWITT: “Do you have a message for the people of Iran, President Trump?” TRUMP: “You should feel strongly about freedom. There's nothing like freedom. You're brave people. It's a shame what's happened to your country.” Ali Safavi, a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, said the blackout coincided with violent confrontations in several regions. The victims were killed by the Revolutionary Guard and other security forces using live ammunition. The protests were sparked in December by the collapse of Iran's currency and soaring inflation, but they have since evolved into a broader movement demanding the overthrow of the Islamic Republic. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ in Iran who are suffering. VP Vance explains Trump's Western Hemisphere foreign policy In a White House briefing, Vice President J.D. Vance explained the Trump administration's foreign policy related to the Western Hemisphere. VANCE: “This is the president of peace. One of the ways that you establish peace in your own hemisphere is to make it clear that the United States is going to be respected, that the United States is willing to take power away from criminal cartel organizations and give it to legitimate governments. “That's how we see the future of the Western Hemisphere, and we think it's going to be much more peaceful than it was, certainly under [former President] Joe Biden.” Congressman: 78% of Somali Minnesotans on welfare after 10 years During a January 7th House Oversight Committee meeting, Republican Congressman Brandon Gill of Texas, age 31, asked Brendan Ballou, a former U.S. Special Counsel at the Department of Justice, a series of questions related to the abuse of taxpayer dollars by Somali-headed households in Minnesota. GILL: “Does large scale Somali immigration make Minnesota stronger or weaker?” BALLOU: “Certainly stronger.” GILL: “Do you know what percentage of Somali-headed households in Minnesota are on food stamps?” BALLOU: “No.” GILL: “54%. Do you know what that number is for native Minnesota headed households?” BALLOU: “Well, to be clear, a majority of those …” GILL: “It's 7%. It's 7%. There's a big difference between 54% and 7%, isn't there?” BALLOU: “Excise me, sir, could I? Could I answer the question?” GILL: “Let me, let me move on. We've got a lot of questions here. What percentage of Somali-headed households in Minnesota are on Medicaid?” BALLOU: “I don't know.” GILL: “It's 73% Do you know what that number is for Minnesota native households?” BALLOU: “Again, you're using the phrase Minnesota native households, but the majority …" GILL: “The number is 18%. That's a quite an astounding difference. I think we would.” BALLOU: “Can I answer the question please?” GILL: “Let me ask you one more, and then we can go into that. What percentage of Somali-headed households are on welfare in general?” BALLOU: “I don't know." GILL: “81%. After 10 years of being in the United States, what percentage of Somali immigrant households continue to be on welfare?” BALLOU: “I don't know.” GILL: “The number is 78%. So, even after 10 years, 78% of Somali immigrant households continue to be on welfare. Do you know what that number is for non-Somali immigrant headed households?” BALLOU: “The majority of Somali Minnesotans are as Minnesotan as any of us. They were born in the United States. It's only 8,000 of the 108,000.” GILL: “Nevertheless, the welfare usage is astoundingly different. Let me ask you again, does that make Minnesota stronger or weaker?” BALLOU: “Again, I'd like the opportunity to answer the question here. So again, the majority of Somali Minnesotans are born in the United States, as I understand.” GILL: “Okay. But what percentage of working-age Somalians, who have been in the US for 10 years or more, how many of them speak English very well?” BALLOU: “I don't know.” GILL: “About half. That seems pretty low, doesn't it?” BALLOU: “Again, I keep trying…” GILL: “Doesn't sound like something that makes our country stronger to me. And I think most Americans would agree with me on that.” Michael Reagan's legacy Michael Reagan, the adopted son of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan and his first wife, actress Jane Wyman, died of cancer on January 4th at the age of 80, reported The Epoch Times. He hosted “The Michael Reagan Show,” a nationally syndicated talk radio program, for nearly 20 years, and was a contributor to the conservative Newsmax television network. In Reagan's 1988 autobiography On the Outside Looking In and the 2004 follow-up Twice Adopted, he discussed his difficult childhood, including feelings of not belonging in his famous family, and his profound journey of faith and forgiveness. He penned Lessons My Father Taught Me in 2016, which explored the wisdom his father passed down. Christopher Ruddy, the Editor-in-Chief of NewsMax, wrote, “Mike asked his father about his plan to defeat the Soviet Union. Ronald Reagan replied, ‘It's simple, Mike. They lose. We win.' That was Reagan's genius — clarity, moral confidence, and the determination to win. “Michael believed — like his father — that Americans are part of a living chain stretching back to the Sons of Liberty. Each generation inherits the responsibility to defend freedom, share our values, and serve as a beacon of hope to the world. The torch is passed, and it must never be dropped. Ronald Reagan's greatest torchbearer was his eldest and adopted son.” Beyond physical freedom, Christ offers spiritual freedom from are sin which is the ultimate freedom. John 8:36 says, “If [Jesus], the Son, therefore, shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.” Charles Spurgeon's conversion anniversary And finally, last week, on January 6th, Christians celebrated the 176th anniversary of the Christian conversion of Charles Spurgeon in 1850 at the age of 15. On his way to a scheduled appointment, a snowstorm forced him to cut short his intended journey and to turn into a Primitive Methodist chapel on Artillery Street in Colchester, England, where he believed God opened his heart to the salvation message. The text that moved him was Isaiah 45:22. It says, "Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the Earth, for I am God, and there is none else.” In April 1854, after preaching three months on probation and just four years after his conversion, Spurgeon, then only 19 years old, was called to the pastorate of London's famed New Park Street Chapel. Charles Spurgeon became known as the "Prince of Preachers,” defended the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, and opposed the liberal theological heresies in the Church of his day. May the Lord raise up more Charles Spurgeons in our day. Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, January 12th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Part 1:We talk with Whitney Curry Wimbish, staff writer at The American Prospect, and with Emma Janssen, writing fellow at The American Prospect. We discuss the role of the middlemen in American health delivery systems. This applies to decisions about diagnostic tests, treatment, and drug and medical device use. These middlemen, employed by the large pharmaceutical and medical insurance companies, decide when or if patients are allowed to have tests, treatments, or drugs. They may not have any medical expertise but base their decisions on costs rather than medical necessity.Part 2:We talk with Michael P. Goodyear, Associate Professor of Law at NYU School of Law.We discuss a case now before the Supreme Court dealing with Internet Access. What "illegal acts" and what "actions" would necessitate the cutoff of Internet Access? Who should be punished, and how? What fines should be imposed?WNHNFM.ORG productionMusic: David Rovics

They start off claiming these digital IDs are "voluntary," but you cannot access your bank, have a job or buy food without them. So if you want to voluntarily starve, go for it. The reality is, mandates are being brought forward worldwide. The UK recently mandated digital IDs for migrants but are also rolling them out for children and claiming those who are against such mandates are "misinformed." Much like that claimed those who said there would be digital IDs in the UK were called "misinformed" and "fake news" a few years ago. Now, here we are. Meanwhile, in Canada, people are being imprisoned for social media posts and now a bill is being pushed to strip internet access from people who the government considers "extreme." They're being called "specific people" for now. Whatever that means. The digital control grid begins with censorship. It then leads into the censorship of your food and your money. With Real-ID and the GENIUS Act in the United States, the digital Euro and digital ID wallet, the Mexican biometric ID mandate, the Swiss Digital ID, the Danish Digital ID, the Australian Digital ID, the Sierra Leone Digital ID, the 180 other countries pushing digital IDs, the Un Pact For The Future which was signed by 193 countries, the New UN climate tax, the AI job takeover and the collapse of big banks, it's pretty obvious which direction this is all going in. When will people learn that this is NOT the time to be sitting on their hands? Both left and right are pushing technocracy. From Elon Musk to Yuval Noah Harari. A ship likely cut cables in the Red Sea that disrupted internet access in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, experts said, showing the lines' vulnerability over a year after another incident severed them. The International Cable Protection Committee told The Associated Press (AP) that 15 submarine cables pass through the narrow Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the southern mouth of the Red Sea that separates East Africa from the Arabian Peninsula. Authorities in multiple countries identified the cables affected as the South East Asia–Middle East–Western Europe 4, the India–Middle East–Western Europe and the FALCON GCX cables. Then that list expanded to include the Europe India Gateway cable as well, said Doug Madory, director of internet analysis at the firm Kentik. Initial reporting suggested the cut happened off the coast of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, something authorities in the kingdom have not acknowledged, nor have the companies managing the cables. "Early independent analysis indicates that the probable cause of damage is commercial shipping activity in the region," John Wrottesley, the committee's operations manager, told the AP. "Damage to submarine cables from dragged anchors account for approximately 30% of incidents each year, representing around 60 faults." Madory also told the AP that the working assumption was that a commercial vessel dropped its anchor and dragged it across the four cables, severing the connections. Cabling in the Red Sea can be at a shallow depth, making it easier for an anchor drag to affect them. Undersea cables are among the backbones of the internet, along with satellite connections and land-based cables. Typically, internet service providers have multiple access points and reroute traffic if one fails. However, rerouting traffic can cause latency, or lag, for internet users. Madory said it appeared at least 10 nations in Africa, Asia and the Middle East had been affected by the cable cut. Among those nations were India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. This article was provided by The Associated Press.

The implementation of broadband into Wisconsin communities has been a multi-year effort. Alyssa Kenney, the Wisconsin Public Service Commission Director of Broadband and Digital Equity, says that when covid hit that expedited the process. Currently there are only 450,000 locations in the state without broadband and 250,000 of those locations are currently in the process of getting it. The federal program that helps fund these broadband projects has not been impacted at all due to the need for people to be connected. Satellite internet has been around for decades. But in just the past six years, the number of satellites orbiting the planet has grown dramatically. Many belong to Starlink, a unit of SpaceX whose satellites are in low Earth orbit. And it's expected to get even busier up there with Amazon’s Project Kuiper launching thousands of new satellites. Joe Supan of CNET recently wrote about this. He told Marketplace’s Stephanie Hughes about the race to claim a piece of space and the risk of high-tech debris clogging the zone.

Back in the pandemic depths of December 2020, when so many Americans were working, learning and performing essential daily tasks online, the Federal Communications Commission launched an emergency program to help low-income people connect to high-speed internet with a $50-per-month subsidy. That was extended with the Affordable Connectivity Program, which has provided $30 a month for internet service. An estimated 23 million households currently get the subsidy. But they won’t for much longer. Efforts to renew funding for the ACP have stalled in Congress and are expected to run out by the end of the month. Marketplace's Meghan McCarty Carino spoke to Kelcee Griffis of Tech Brew about her reporting on the ACP and the people who rely on it.
The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 2: 4:05pm- Attorney Matt Rooney—Founder of SaveJersey.com—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss a federal judge ending New Jersey's controversial “county line” ballot system which offered premier balloting position to candidates backed by party bosses. Rooney hosts The Matt Rooney Show on 1210 WPHT (Sunday's 7pm to 10pm). 4:20pm- Baseball season is upon us, and Rich offers his signature play-by-play commentary for the Philadelphia Phillies' home opener against the Atlanta Braves. 4:30pm- Dr. Victoria Coates—Former Deputy National Security Advisor & the Vice President of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss her recent editorial for Fox News, “The Way to Cuba's Heart is Through the Internet.” She writes: “Cuba's repressive Communist dictatorship relies on more than brute force to oppress its people. The Castros and their successors keep Cubans in line by controlling what information they can receive and transmit. That's why, when demonstrations against shortages of food and other necessities began on March 17, the regime cut the state-provided internet to stop the protesters from coordinating online, and from sharing their videos worldwide…SpaceX's Starlink has famously been providing reliable satellite-based internet access to Ukraine in a war zone for more than two years. Given the contracts SpaceX has with the U.S. Department of Defense, DoD can direct the company to provide the service to partners in distress such as Ukraine. Surely, America would also want to help the people of Cuba marching for their freedom. Which then begs the question: Why is this direction not coming from the Biden administration?” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/way-cubas-heart-through-internet. Dr. Coates is the author of “David's Sling: A History of Democracy in Ten Works of Art.” You can find her book here: https://www.amazon.com/Davids-Sling-History-Democracy-Works/dp/1594037213. 4:50pm- Richard Fausset and Danny Hakim of The New York Times write: “Lawyers for former President Donald J. Trump and eight of his co-defendants in the Georgia election interference case asked an appeals court on Friday to take up their challenge of a judge's ruling that allowed the prosecutor Fani T. Willis to stay on the case. With their application to appeal, the defendants are once again pressing their argument that Ms. Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, created an untenable conflict of interest by having a romantic relationship with the special prosecutor she hired to manage the Trump case.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/29/us/trump-appeal-georgia-fani-willis.html
