During his tenure as a screening attendee and composer for Channel 101 shows (e.g. GOOGY, FIRE GUYS, PLANET UNICORN, CAR JUMPER, BREAKING GOOD, CLASSROOM), Ryan was highly in-demand, sometimes making music for 5 or more shows in any month's screening! Harmon (co-creator of Channel 101) was thus inspired to apply Ryan's talent and ingenuity to projects like Acceptable.tv, Harmonquest, Harmontown: The Movie, and ultimately he became the musical voice of Rick and Morty... yes, the Adult Swim show! He took some time out from collaborating and using his gift to create tv/film magic, to chat with Todd about how he became the Ryan Elder he is today and how he feels about it! Hey everybody, I'm Greg Sowell and this is Why Am I, a podcast where I talk to interesting people and try to trace a path to where they find themselves today. My guest this go around is Spencer Crittenden. Spencer is kind of a big deal; you might recognize him from: the Harmontown podcast where he DM'd, the show Great Minds from the History Channel, Harmonquest where he DM'd, or from his guest spot on Community as Annie's brother. He's also a very polished, fight me, podcaster on the That Happens podcast. He's also a deep thinker who strives to precisely articulate his emotions to others; he's actually got a mastery I'll probably never obtain. Real quick, pause this and go to patreon.com/thesixler and become part of his community, support your favorite creators, and then enjoy this chat with Spencer. Please show them some love on their socials here: https://twitter.com/Thesixler, https://thathappenspod.com/, https://www.patreon.com/thesixler. Find more info at http://whyamipod.com. If you want to support the podcast you can do so via https://www.patreon.com/whyamipod (this gives you access to bonus content like the Fantasy Restaurant!)
Spencer workshops some conflict resolution, weighs an air fryer impulse buy, and tells some behind the scenes stories about Harmonquest. We try some Irn Bru that a Scottish fan sent in. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Vox Maquina, Critical Rol y Harmonquest. Almost 10 years ago, this young DM/GM joined CHANNEL 101 creator Dan Harmon, and COMPUTER MAN's Jeff Davis on stage, to begin a live Dungeons & Dragons campaign that set many Harmontown goers (or podcast listeners) on fire with adventurous excitement. In this previously misfiled episode of The Dark Corner, your hosts mostly discuss Jordan Peele's debut social horror film, Get Out. However, we also start playing 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons. Speaking of, we enjoy episodes of Harmon Quest. That's not all as far as geekiness goes. We plan for the upcoming Fan Expo in Salt Lake City. Furthermore, DJ Evil Dave plays the Dark Track of the episode. In this case, Freaky Mind performs Get Out from the Crawl EP. Additionally, we play a promo for the Feminine Critique podcast as well as talk about hate watching movies.

It is all about making consciously competent choices that dictate how you show up everyday and represent your core belief. We all have many talents, but if you try to be all things to all people, you lose sight of your foundation and what makes you unique. Jayzen is thrilled to welcome Evan Shapiro to the podcast. In this week's podcast, we try to decode TV puzzles. Why do so called "prestige shows" require us to slog through a whole season when all they really develop are the twists and unexpected gut-punches? Why can't more shows use their puzzle-like plots to explore characters? Basically, why aren't there shows on like Battlestar Galactica anymore???? And, as always, we finish with recommendations for each other. Becca recommends the Seeso comedy Harmonquest and Shannon recommends the book Treasure Island!!! by Sara Levine.
