Raise your hand if you've ever received orders to see a patient with head and neck cancer AFTER they've started (or completed) radiation and/or surgery. A million times yes. It's one of those common cases where speech-language pathology is an afterthought. But in reality, we should be brought into the discussion before any treatment begins! Katie Moore is all too familiar with this, which is why she passionately advocated for a head and neck cancer program in her department AND for specialized training to address complex impairments (like post-radiation fibrosis and lymphedema.) Tune in to this week's episode of The Swallow Your Pride Podcast to hear how Katie implemented a new program and rallied for support for SLPs to achieve the level of training they deserve. The mid-infrared molecular inventory towards Orion IRc2 by Sarah Nickerson et al. on Wednesday 30 November We present the first high spectral resolution mid-infrared survey in the Orion BN/KL region, covering 7.2 to 28.3 micron. With SOFIA/EXES we target the enigmatic source Orion IRc2. While this is in the most prolifically studied massive star-forming region, longer wavelengths and molecular emission lines dominated previous spectral surveys. The mid-infrared observations in this work access different components and molecular species in unprecedented detail. We unambiguously identify two new kinematic components, both chemically rich with multiple molecular absorption lines. The "blue clump" has vLSR = -7.1 pm 0.7 km/s and the "red clump" 1.4 pm 0.5 km/s. While the blue and red clumps have similar temperatures and line widths, molecular species in the blue clump have higher column densities. They are both likely linked to pure rotational H2 emission also covered by this survey. This work provides evidence for the scenario that the blue and red clumps are distinct components unrelated to the classic components in the Orion BN/KL region. Comparison to spectroscopic surveys towards other infrared targets in the region show that the blue clump is clearly extended. We analyze, compare, and present in depth findings on the physical conditions of C2H2, 13CCH2, CH4, CS, H2O, HCN, H13CN, HNC, NH3, and SO2 absorption lines and an H2 emission line associated with the blue and red clumps. We also provide limited analysis of H2O and SiO molecular emission lines towards Orion IRc2 and the atomic forbidden transitions [FeII], [SI], [SIII], and [NeII]. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2211.15707v1

CHEMOUT: CHEMical complexity in star-forming regions of the OUTer Galaxy III Nitrogen isotopic ratios in the outer Galaxy by L. Colzi et al. on Thursday 22 September Nitrogen isotopic ratios are a key tool for tracing Galactic stellar nucleosynthesis. We present the first study of the $^{14}$N/$^{15}$N abundance ratio in the outer regions of the Milky Way (namely, for galactocentric distances, $R_{rm GC}$, from 12 kpc up to 19 kpc), with the aim to study the stellar nucleosynthesis effects in the global Galactic trend. We analysed IRAM 30m observations towards a sample of 35 sources in the context of the CHEMical complexity in star-forming regions of the OUTer Galaxy (CHEMOUT) project. We derived the $^{14}$N/$^{15}$N ratios from HCN and HNC for 14 and 3 sources, respectively, using the $J$ = 1-0 rotational transition of HN$^{13}$C, H$^{15}$NC, H$^{13}$CN, and HC$^{15}$N. The results found in the outer Galaxy have been combined with previous measurements obtained in the inner Galaxy. We find an overall linear decreasing H$^{13}$CN/HC$^{15}$N ratio with increasing $R_{rm GC}$. This translates to a parabolic $^{14}$N/$^{15}$N ratio with a peak at 11 kpc. Updated Galactic chemical evolution models have been taken into account and compared with the observations. The parabolic trend of the $^{14}$N/$^{15}$N ratio with $R_{rm GC}$ can be naturally explained (i) by a model that assumes novae as the main $^{15}$N producers on long timescales ($ge$1 Gyr) and (ii) by updated stellar yields for low- and intermediate-mass stars. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2209.10620v1
Tracing Interstellar Heating: An ALCHEMI Measurement of the HCN Isomers in NGC 253 by Erica Behrens et al. on Wednesday 14 September We analyze HCN and HNC emission in the nearby starburst galaxy NGC 253 to investigate its effectiveness in tracing heating processes associated with star formation. This study uses multiple HCN and HNC rotational transitions observed using ALMA via the ALCHEMI Large Program. To understand the conditions and associated heating mechanisms within NGC 253's dense gas, we employ Bayesian nested sampling techniques applied to chemical and radiative transfer models which are constrained using our HCN and HNC measurements. We find that the volume density $n_{text{H}_{2}}$ and cosmic ray ionization rate (CRIR) $zeta$ are enhanced by about an order of magnitude in the galaxy's central regions as compared to those further from the nucleus. In NGC 253's central GMCs, where observed HCN/HNC abundance ratios are lowest, $n sim 10^{5.5}$ cm$^{-3}$ and $zeta sim 10^{-12}$ s$^{-1}$ (greater than $10^4$ times the average Galactic rate). We find a positive correlation in the association of both density and CRIR with the number of star formation-related heating sources (supernova remnants, HII regions, and super hot cores) located in each GMC, as well as a correlation between CRIRs and supernova rates. Additionally, we see an anticorrelation between the HCN/HNC ratio and CRIR, indicating that this ratio will be lower in regions where $zeta$ is higher. Though previous studies suggested HCN and HNC may reveal strong mechanical heating processes in NGC 253's CMZ, we find cosmic ray heating dominates the heating budget, and mechanical heating does not play a significant role in the HCN and HNC chemistry. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2209.06244v1

His knowledge is gained from nearly 30 years in the building business, including as a plasterer, gaining a HNC in building management and as a property investor. Simon and Kevin talk all things damp, Simon also tells you what you can do to reduce the risks of damp, what different types of damp there are, debunks damp myths and gives some great tips for anyone who owns property! KEY TAKEAWAYS Simon attended the MSOPI course at progressive and this was when his brand ‘Damp Sam' was born. He then began doing YouTube videos and now racks over 500 videos, including some joint venture videos with Progressive Media. Good damp proofers aren't easy to find and when you do find one, you usually just take their word for what needs doing. Damp Sam opens up the world of Damp proofing and educates people, arming them with the knowledge to understand what is actually happening beneath the damp they come across. Simon learnt an incredible amount from his first two house renovations. Including the support out there for renovations, asset protection, planning laws and even land registry guidelines. Don't ever try and do damp proofing yourself, it's a specialist area and you could create more difficult, and more expensive, problems. As a general rule, properties pre 1919 didn't have damp courses put in. Post 1919 most properties would have put them in. But it's important to remember that there are different types of damp courses and not one fix works for all. There are multiple types of damp and it's essential that they are all diagnosed individually. Most of us have heard of rising damp and this is something that is frequently misdiagnosed, Sam frequently sees on surveys that a whole house is suffering from rising damp but this isn't usually the case, it's usually from multiple sources and has differing causes. Houses with differing ground levels within a property, for example if you have to make a step up to the kitchen, can suffer from lateral damp. It's important these areas have waterproof systems installed to prevent damp. Ventilation is essential to stopping and preventing damp. All properties should have a fan in the kitchen and a fan in the bathroom, to draw moisture out of these rooms that produce a lot of differing heat levels and A great way to test if your internal fans are performing, is to do Sam's £10 test. You hold a £10 note to the vent/fan and if it sucks it on then you know it's ventilating enough. In some locations, such as London and Manchester, basement conversions can add a large amount of value. It's important to weigh this up, as the cost of doing a conversion to a good standard, that won't be prone to damp, is very expensive. Don't treat mould with anything with sodium in it. This can create a bigger problem. Simon advises to always look for a mould remover that has benzalkonium in it. If you have a trade or are looking for a career change in the building industry, damp proofing could be you. You just need to learn it, become a specialist and you can make good money in a career that always has work. Get in touch with Simon, PCA and invest in yourself. Richie is joined by Chris Anderson and Dr. Paul Hobday. Chris Anderson is standing for The Freedom Alliance Party in the Southend West by-election on February 3rd. Chris is campaigning on an anti-lockdown platform. Interestingly, he holds a HNC in microbiology and tells Richie where he thinks covid-19 originated. Chris also debunks Reuters claim that the World Economic Forum is merely a benevolent think tank. Follow Chris on Twitter @Krypto_Kash and check out www.freedomalliance.co.ukDr. Paul Hobday is a respected former GP. He practiced for 30 years. In 2015, Paul stood for parliament to raise awareness of how NHS reforms were privatising the health service by stealth and allowing corporations and banksters to take control of it. He wrote a book two years ago entitled, "The Deceit Syndrome: Catch 69." It tells the story of a GP who realises what is happening to the NHS and tries to sound the alarm. Paul tells Richie who is really running the NHS and what they plan to do with it. It's shocking. If you only hear one interview this week, make it this.

A statewide lockdown is not enough to quarantine your ears from hearing some illogical takes on sports and entertainment today. The "Play with Lebron" Exemption has been the talk around NBA. Trey "Russell Wilson" Lance, Is he still down or did he finally throw that ball away. Summerslam will be the day ruled by Cena, Oldberg and the Summer of snakes. Vipers, Rattlesnakes, Mambas, Cobras. You name it and they will make their mark this Sunday. And what a Top 5 picked by Deez. Move over NWO because The HNC is coming through! For almost half a decade, Matthew "HotanCold" Stevens has only really known one team. While the landscape of North American Rainbow 6 Siege changed around him, his spot alongside fellow teammates Pojoman and Mint remained as safe as ever. For a while they were NA's longest serving "core" and, despite never bringing home any trophies, were fan favourites in our entire esport. Things began to change after the team signed to DarkZero with Pojoman being the first to fall. Unexpectedly, and quite some time later, HotanCold would be next to depart the team in the spring of 2021. With only a few days to find a new squad, HotanCold moved to Mirage to play alongside and guide a relatively new team. A newly reinvigorated HnC would dominate the NAL that stage, putting up some of the best numbers across both the League and his career. He now finds himself with big shoes to fill as Canadian's permanent replacement on Spacestation Gaming's roster. While he may not actively seek the spotlight like some of his colleagues, HotanCold is as effortlessly charismatic, entertaining, and emotional as ever.
Jack Gritt lives in Gloucestershire with her 2 dogs and is the founding member and former president of Women in Nuclear UK and still works as an advisor and is an executive board member of Women in Nuclear Global. She has 3 children who all live locally to her. In her early years she grew up in Buckinghamshire. She started out her journey by starting an apprenticeship in hairdressing and then at 18 she started her own beauty therapy business for a couple of years. She soon realised this wasn’t for her and then went on to start her first position at Berkeley Nuclear PowerStation as a General Duty Assistant – quite the opposite to her other job! This gave her a real taste for the nuclear industry and realised this was for her. She moved to working within the reactor, and after reading in to the nuclear industry, she realised she needed qualifications to work her way up. She then applied to do an HNC in Physics and Chemistry – the only female at Berkeley on site other than in the admin blocks. After that, she went on to study Mathematics, and is now a chartered Mathematician. Working her way up the grades at Magnox, she continued to work there for seven years. She then went on to work at Jacobs for over nine years. In total, she has 36 years’ experience in the nuclear industry, holding a number of positions including Executive Management, Director of Operations, Programme and Project Management, Transformation and Change Management, Safety Case Management and Performance and Quality. It was in the early years of her career that she formed a passion for encouraging people in the nuclear industry, especially women. She currently sits on the WiN Global Executive Board, is the UK representative on the WiN Global Board as well as retaining a role within WiN UK in a Non-Executive Director capacity. Through these roles Jack believes she can continue to build a future for the nuclear industry and create an environment where women can thrive in this exciting sector which offers endless opportunities. Jack has championed women in the industry throughout her career, as well as working in her local community as a Councillor and School Governor. She has always had a keen focus on helping women to manage their work/ family balance, remain in employment whilst raising a family and to have the confidence to consider transferrable skills to explore new opportunities. This lifelong passion led her to becoming a founding member of WiN UK and is what continues to drive her commitment today. For more information visit: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jack-gritt-49962a2b/
