Monique Byrne and Andy Rogovin perform moving and inspirational songs that are sometimes joyful, sometimes wistful, and oftentimes, poignant, and that reflect a mutual passion for life, family and humanity. Their intimately blended vocal harmonies are mixed with an expressive and unique instrumental style that is best described as "a banjo-guitar romance." Crowes Pasture's style of intimate and soulful folk transports and connects listeners through universal experiences in their “skillfully crafted, emotional songwriting” (Chris Eastburn, award-winning composer).Crowes Pasture has made waves with two EPs and three full-length albums in just six-years time. Their CD, "Slow It Down", was released in June 2019 at the legendary Club Passim. Since its release, the title track earned Crowes Pasture a #1 song, and the album debuted at #5 on the Folk Alliance International Charts. Since the release of their first album, "Edge of America," the duo has had eight Top 10 Songs on the Folk Charts, including "Take Back the Red White and Blue" (January 2022), their cover of Mary Gauthier's "Mercy Now" (June 2019), and the timely and topical song, "Quarantine" (January 2021). Over the past few years, Crowes Pasture has performed at a number of renowned east coast music venues including Club Passim, Shalin Liu Performance Center, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bull Run, and Circle of Friends Coffeehouse and has been a supporting act for The Small Glories and The Kennedys. The duo has been twice honored with nominations as “Roots Act of the Year” by the New England Music Awards (2019 and 2022) and as “Americana Artist of the Year” by the Boston Music Awards (2019). They were named finalists for Best Group/Duo in the 2020 International Acoustic Music Awards, and for Best Group/Duo in the 2021 IAMAs, for their song “A Virtue and a Call”. The duo has toured recently throughout Southern Ontario and Quebec, and is currently recording their third full length album with award-winning producer Eric Lichter of Dirt Floor Studios. The duo takes its name from the salt marsh and tidal flats known as Crowes Pasture, hidden away on the north side of Cape Cod, where the ocean tides recede twice a day to reveal intricate patterns on the shifting sands. This recurring cycle of creation and discovery evokes their own musical journey.https://crowespastureduo.comThanks for listening for more information or to listen to other podcasts or watch YouTube videos click on this link >https://thetroutshow.com/

Steven McClintock returns to TalkandRockRadio with a special Christmas episode. Steven is an American singer, songwriter, and a music producer, with almost 20 million records sold to his credit. He has written top 40 hit songs in country, pop and AOR. He has been a part of the music group Fertitta & McClintock (with David Fertitta) since the mid-1970s (they won the "Overall Grand Prize" and "Best Group/Duo" at the International Acoustic Music Awards). He also has done solo work like the song "Maybe Love" on the Jetsons: The Movie soundtrack, as well as "Edge of a Dream", the soundtrack to the movie Space Mutiny, which was memorably lambasted by the cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000, the song was likewise mocked when it appears in the closing credits, with the 'bots (Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot) "singing along" using lyrics from other tracks. In January 2009, the track was finally released commercially through McClintock's official Myspace website.

Skyler has captured the attention of fans across the globe, including GRAMMY-winning artist Kacey Musgraves, who handpicked her for a mentorship that focuses on putting more women on stage at major music festivals, including ACL Festival, which Day is slated to play this fall. She has also sold out venues like the Troubadour and Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, and was named a finalist in the International Acoustic Music Awards and International Songwriting Competition for her song “6 Feet Apart”, produced and co-written by Steve Solomon (“Say You Won't Let Go” James Arthur). Welcome to Season 2, Episode 8 of Song Chronicles. Our special guest this week is cardiologist and singer-songwriter Suzie Brown, whose work has been recognized by NewSong Music Competition, the Great American Songwriting Competition, and the International Acoustic Music Awards. Born in Montreal and raised in Boston, Suzie seemed predestined to follow in her parents' footsteps to become a doctor and didn't consider being a musician to be a potential career choice. While pursuing medicine at Harvard Medical School and later at the University of Pennsylvania, she started performing purely for the love of it, joining an a cappella group in college, moonlighting in a production of Hair with other busy grad students, and fronting a cover band during residency. She wrote her first song during her cardiology fellowship. Over time, Suzie became a staple of the Philadelphia music scene, where she released her first three albums. Now living in Nashville with her husband Scot Sax, she is a part-time Vanderbilt cardiologist and a full-time mom. Suzie and her husband Scot Sax This full plate of responsibilities caring for others means Suzie has to fiercely defend her own creative time. Her sixth record, Under the Surface, was made by stealing away the hours of 6-10pm each evening with her producer Billy Harvey who lives down the street in Nashville. Making music during the COVID-19 pandemic was the one thing she could do for herself that allowed her to process the heartbreak she felt caring for her patients. In this conversation recorded in March 2021, Suzie shares her insights for tapping into inspiration amidst an impossibly busy schedule, wrestling with perfectionism, and how going to med school prepared her for adjusting to the "new normal" of living in a pandemic. Enjoy this conversation with Suzie Brown about living a full and fulfilling life.

I finally get a chance to sit down in the studio and talk all about music with singer/songwriter Rod Abernethy. The former guitarist for Raleigh based rock group 'Arrogance' talks about what inspired his new CD "Normal Isn't Normal Anymore" (written ironically before the pandemic) and about winning at both the The International Acoustic Music Awards and The Bob Dylan Contest from American Songwriter. Rod also talks about his transition from touring with a band to scoring music for gaming companies and film; the real stories behind his songs; working with Raleigh based musicians Don Dixon, Marti Jones, The Smithereens, Marshall Crenshaw and John Teer of Chatham County Line; plus how much of his music success started right after an appearance on that infamous talent show StarSearch!

Kris Angelis grew up on a farm in Florida, writing songs and learning to harmonize with her identical twin sister in their treehouse. Her folk/pop/Americana music has won several awards including Best Female artist in the International Acoustic Music Awards and last year she toured to all 50 of the United States and was chosen as part of the Grammy NEXT program. She began 2020 with the release of That Siren, Hope which debuted at #1 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart and #79 on the Billboards Top Current Albums chart as the highest ranked independent release. It explores all the facets of hope, painting it as a mythical siren that draws you in only to leave you drowning, but also as a comfort and a force that keeps you going when you can't see what's ahead. It has been getting played on SiriusXM, climbing the Americana radio charts, and is on the first round ballot for the Grammy Awards. The video for the title track was premiered by American Songwriter Magazine. You can learn more and find all the links to follow and subscribe at www.krisangelis.com. This song is about remembering the good times and then the reasons something didn't work and deciding to not let it haunt you and hold you back like a Ghost because you're still alive and breathing and can do more and find more in your life." “Azalea” is the musical duo of Benjamin and Mia Hackett, they are an Australian-Canadian couple that write, produce, and perform original music together. Before they met, Benjamin and Mia both worked on their own solo music projects, but for some reason, it always felt to them that a key ingredient was lacking in their art. Having fatefully met in 2004, the duo worked on their first songwriting project together, and the magic they created from their chemistry was undeniably great. It was then that they discovered that the secret ingredient lacking in their pieces, was each other. 16 years down the line and the duo has now released 5 studio albums, 1 live album, were named semifinalists at the 2018 International songwriting competition, and have previously been nominated at the 2018 International Acoustic Music Awards. Show Notes Joining us on the show today is the dynamic music duo of Benjamin and Mia, otherwise known as Azalea. Having been performing on cruise ships for the past one and a half years, we start the show off with the duo narrating their dramatic cruise ship experience courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic. From being stuck at the dock for 12 days in a ship with no passengers to hopping from ship to ship until they finally booked their own plane ticket back home. Benjamin and Mia have had a challenging first-hand experience with the effect of the current global pandemic. Now with a day left until their 14-day social quarantine is over, the couple can't wait to go outside and do some grocery shopping! As they're a fairly introverted couple, when not on stage or creating new music, Benjamin and Mia are very close friends and enjoy being with their pets and their comfy home in Canada. Stay tuned as the lovely duo gives us a tour of what it's like to be performers in a cruise ship. Despite their introverted nature, Benjamin and Mia enjoy socializing with their fans before and after their performances. This, they claim, is a great way to have an intimate connection with your audience and get their personal thoughts and opinions on how they feel about your music and performance. They've enjoyed every single cruise trip and performance as this has enabled them to meet different people, cultures, and lifestyles worldwide. Something that would have otherwise been impossible to afford without their gigs. The Cruise ship contracts have also proven invaluable in terms of steady, reliable work and ample free time to work on their music writing project's on the side. And even with the current global crisis still heating up as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this lovely couple has chosen to see the positive side of it, and thank God for the ample time that they now have to tackle their art and life projects that they've been postponing for a while. I hope you all enjoy the show and feel empowered by the message of hope and creativity that Azalea shares with all on the show today. Quotes It grows you, in such a big way, I can't even remember the person I was before I started the journey. – Mia on her experience performing in cruise ships. It's a very intimate relationship between you and the people you're performing for in a cruise ship. Consorting and getting to know them at a personal level, and what they love about your show. It's like free market research. Socializing with your audience is a great way to know what people connect within your songs and performances. This helps in improving your performance and music in general. We've seen so many different cultures, lifestyles and ways of life. This has made us realize how we're all so different, but still essentially the same. It's practically a great way to make the world smaller and make it feel like home. We take different approaches in terms of the tools and environment in order to experiment with how the general audience feels and how emotions would change when producing our songs. There's a lot of challenges to it, but it's generally a good experience. We're basking in the fact that we now have time to tackle the creative endeavors that we've always wanted to pursue – Benjamin on using the current COVID-19 social quarantine measure to their advantage. We still have milestones that we need to hit. And we feel that we'll get there eventually. We just have to keep writing, keep playing and keep being our genuine selves. We hope to create art that's meaningful to us. Because if it means something to you, then it's going to mean something to everyone else – Benjamin on their future art and music projects. If you work too much, you kind of lose your touch with creativity. Creativity comes from play. Fiona Joy poured her heart and soul into Signature – Synchronicity, a New Age album submitted to the 59th Grammy Awards for consideration. You can listen on: http://www.thebcompany.com/fionajoy-fyc.html. Or a Soundcloud link https://soundcloud.com/user-260052746 From Fiona I'm very proud of this album about fairy-tales told from an adult perspective - it has taken me a long time to be able to find a little 'naïve' in some of these heart-felt issues. I’m a full-time composer, recording and touring musician and just returned from my third tour of China. Signature - Synchronicity is my 11th album with Little Hartley Music and I’m also an audiophile who records in hi-res formats with Blue Coast Records (content partners with Sony). I have been an ARIA Finalist (Australia), 8 x New Age Music Award Winner, a 5x IMA Finalist, and I’ve been Runner Up or Finalist in the International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMAs) over the last three years. On this album, I believe I’ve worked with some of the finest session musicians in the world including Tony Levin, Jeff Haynes, Eugene Friesen and legendary Producer and guitarist Will Ackerman (Founder, Windham Hill Records), who says: “One of the brightest lights in contemporary instrumental music, Fiona Joy is poised to move into stardom.” - Will Ackerman, Founder of Windham Hill Records Australian Pianist, Producer & Singer Fiona Joy is enjoying the success of her recent release Signature Synchronicity after returning from her third major tour of China, recording a new album in the US, and featuring in several Australian concerts with her Blue Dream Ensemble at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre and the Sydney Women's International Jazz Festival. In China Fiona Joy is nick-named The Piano Angel, not just for her romantic, melodic songs and lush arrangements, but also for her gracious and mesmerizingly ballet-like performance style in concert. A prolific composer, she has always been interested in creating music that evokes images, emotions and stories. The album so far has won two catetories in the Independent Music Awards, a Finalist in the International Acoustic Music Awards, Hollywood Music in Media Awards and the USA Songwriting Competition. Her recording schedule for 2017 includes Blue Coast Records solo piano release (SACD/CD/DSD) Into the Mist and FLOW - the debut album by Fiona Joy, Lawrence Blatt, Jeff Oster & Will Ackerman. FLOW will be a groundbreaking release by a New Age group fof successful artists inspired by the iconic music of Windham Hill. It follows that her upbringing was filled with music. She recalls that her father embraced Andrew Lloyd Webber's music, playing Jesus in the Tamworth Musical Society production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Her classical piano training is evident in her thematic and melodic compositions. Ravel's “Bolero” emerged as an early influence, she says, adding, "I loved it, I played it over and over and deconstructed every part. George Winston, Prokofiev and Mendelssohn also intrigued me.” In 2015 Fiona contributed to a GRAMMY-winning album and traversed three continents, performing solo on a grand tour of China, entertaining in the U.S. at the ZMR Awards and at the audiophile Mecca, T.H.E. Show, closing out the year in Australia at the Sydney Women's International Jazz Festival with her renowned Blue Dream Ensemble. Once home, she attracted the national TV show ‘Lateline’, which ran a feature lifestyle piece on her life and music. (https://youtu.be/6RCTtmkwdSI) In 2014, a version of Fiona’s song “Grace” was chosen for a GRAMMY®-winning album that also reached #1 on the Billboard charts, and in 2013, her evocative piano and ethereal vocals earned her the global broadcaster’s choice and honor as the Best Instrumental Piano Album for600 Years in a Moment at the ZMR Awards, whose airplay charts she also graced at #1 for several months with Signature Solo. Fiona Joy also placed as Runner Up for Best Instrumental Song in the International Acoustic Music Awards, nominated alongside Pete Seeger for Best LIVE Performance Album in the Independent Music Awards, and she was an ARIA Finalist in Australia in 2008. As a forward-looking artist, Fiona is interested in pioneering new musical concepts and recording techniques to better serve her highly-interactive fan base. She frequently appears at audiophile conferences, and is signed to Blue Coast Records for high-fidelity recordings; owner/producer Cookie Marenco is considered and leader in the field, partnering with Sony Music to deliver hi-resolution music to discerning audiophile consumers. Marenco says, "Fiona's melodic solo piano and masterful performances are the perfect music to debut the kind of clarity double DSD audio brings to the home listener. Her music is a cross of George Winston's simple melodies and Ludovico Einaudi's musical sophistication." Fiona's hard work and conceptual vision for the Signature Series is now coming to fruition in Signature Synchronicity, produced in collaboration with Will Ackerman's team in full orchestral form. Ackerman, founder of both Windham Hill Records and Imaginary Road Studios, embraced and encouraged Fiona’s music years ago, stating, “Fiona’s Blue Dream album was the most ambitious project of my entire career and resulted in one of the most remarkable collaborations this genre has ever known. Blue Dream is unique and I’m as proud of it as anything I’ve ever worked on in my 35-year career of GRAMMY® Awards and Gold/Platinum records.” As a collaborator, Fiona has worked with Will Ackerman, Lawrence Blatt, T-Bone Wolk (Hall & Oates), Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, Dire Straits), Jeff Haynes (Pat Metheny), Eugene Friesen (Paul Winter Consort), Heather Rankin, Charlie Bisharat (Shadowfax), Rebecca Daniel (ACO), Jeff Oster and many others. In 2014, she and Ackerman co-produced the successful debut album of Jennifer DeFrayne, who won Best New Artist in the 2015 ZMR Awards for her album By A Wire. Music writer Michael Diamond, recently reviewed one of Fiona’s live concerts in the U.S., writing “What I appreciated most was being able to listen and watch Fiona at the piano. The passion and elegance in her performance was breathtaking, as her flawless technique combined with pure emotional expression.” When not recording or touring, Fiona is busy directing the entrepreneurial side of her music business, an effort which is crucial to the success of every independent artist. She manages her growing record label, Little Hartley Music, and promotes Fiona Joy Jewellery, her new line offering the upscale Swarovsky crystal-adorned bracelets and foot jewellery that she wears while performing barefooted in concert. When not on the road, Fiona escapes to her peaceful home in a small rural village in Australia. “You've got to trick yourself to remove yourself from what's troubling you or what's on your mind. Remove yourself, write it down on a piece of paper and get it out. Or speak of it in the third person, but don't try to own it.” - Wes Carr, The Moment HQ podcast Wes Carr is an Australian Singer-Songwriter who has won many awards. At 15, he was awarded a Scholarship at The McDonald College performing arts school in Sydney. At this time Wes started playing local gigs around the Sydney folk scene which gave him the opportunity to work with Australian music icons including Paul Mac, Missy Higgins, Don Walker and Andrew Farris from INXS. Then, in 2005 Wes collaborated with Ben Gillies from the very well-known Australian rock band ‘Silverchair.' Together they formed a band called ‘Tambalane.' They gained critical acclaim, extensive radio play across Australia and toured nationally twice. He won Australian Idol in 2008 and won the Best Male Artist Award at the International Acoustic Music Awards in 2013. Plus many more, which you can read about here. As a kid Wes tells me he was a big liar and convinced his friends he was Michael Jackson's guitarist, but today he's an honest man for “the deeper you go the more honest you are”. Wes' music will touch your soul and if you've seen him in concert you will too know that music is his thing; his way of expressing who he is into this world. Our conversation is a beautiful reminder that we each have something to give to this world, we all have ideas and there will be challenging moments as we pursue our greatest loves, but as Wes puts it, “Ideas want to be born, it's your job to birth them.” As the saying goes, nothing comes to fruition without a little blood, sweat and tears. We must remember to not take it all so personally and this quote sums it up beautifully. “That's the problem with the world I think, everybody is locked in their own bullshit and in their own prisons because somewhere along the line they didn't feel worthy.” So realize that you have the power to set yourself free and you have the power to create a life that you really do love.
