Matt has found a creative niche lying at the intersection of RPGs and his love for music. We all know that those two great tastes taste great together, but it took a catalyst to make that happen. Matt is that catalyst. Warning alert, this is a very ramble-y episode full of music discussion and sporadic doses of RPG musings.   The stadium is filled and our guitars are tuned. Happy New Years Metalheads! Tonight we share a fun story of how a veteran Metal Singer saved the day for two of this falls most anticipated Tours.  It Started With THIS:  German/American heavy metal legends ACCEPT have recruited Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS, WATCHTOWER) to sing for the band  as ACCEPT‘s longtime frontman Mark Tornillo, who is unable to make the gig because he is recovering from a “virus infection”. And Ended with THIS : "Unfortunately, luck has dealt me a gnarly knuckleball,"  ARMORED SAINT Vocalist John Bush wrote in his post. "I came down with an illness and even though it hasn't made me feel bad, it still has infiltrated my nasal and chest area and planted itself.  "Luckily, longtime friend and Armored Saint fan Jason McMaster (Dangerous Toys/ Broken Teeth) is coming to the rescue again. He's already helped Accept earlier this year on tour and now he's stepping into the batter's box for me. I am extremely grateful, and I know he'll kill it! We were there in CLEVELAND with John Bush and ARMORED SAINT and in PENNSYLVANIA when Jason Took over for Bush.  Jason McMaster, vocalist, bassist, songwriter, producer, artist, rock and metal enthusiast, minister (Pastor McMaster from the Church of Disaster) Known for fronting progressive metal pioneers Watchtower, as well as nasty Texas rockers Dangerous Toys, and the kick in the face riff raffers Broken Teeth. We get the entire story from Jason Himself.  A great unique conversation filled with in-depth antidotes and disclosures found only here at Metal Mayhem ROC. R.I.P. BOB NALBANDIAN- Re-Air Of a Oct 2020 MMROC Interview with BOB.  Veteran heavy metal journalist, historian and documentarian Bob Nalbandian passed away on Friday, December 30 in Redding, California. Nalbandian started in the music and entertainment business at age 17 as the publisher/editor in chief of the seminal heavy metal fanzine The Headbanger in April of 1982, a nationally distributed zine which featured the very first profiles of then-unsigned Los Angeles bands METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ARMORED SAINT. Throughout the '80s and '90s, Nalbandian was also a contributing editor to several well-known music mags, including Metal Rendezvous, Creem, Music Connection, Hit Parader, BAM, Foundations as well as associate editor for men's magazines Platinum and Men's Perspective. Most recently, Nalbandian directed and co-produced the "Inside Metal" documentary film series (MetalRock Films) and the "Band Vs Brand" documentary film (Cleopatra Entertainment). We're back to talk current rock news with the weekly edition of New Noize as we close out May of 2022! There's lots to get to so let's get going! A less-than-credible source has stated that Motley Crue are doing rehearsals with Vince Neil's son in case dear old dad isn't up to the task of the upcoming Stadium Tour. Is this a nothingburger or could there be something to it? We share our thoughts. The tongue-meister himself, Gene Simmons, recently made waves at a KISS soundcheck in Hartford, CT as he donned a bath robe (with nothing under it) in front of fans that paid to be in attendance. Chris made a simple joke post on Facebook for laughs and all hell broke loose. We address the God of Slumber as well as some choice comments from the post on social media. Mental health came to the forefront in a couple of recent stories including the recent death of Black Dhalia Murder's Trevor Strnad as well as an out-of-character moment onstage between Metallica's James Hetfield and his band mates. We talk about both stories as well as share our thoughts on mental health struggles. Def Leppard's Joe Elliott recently made headlines calling their upcoming 'Diamond Star Halos' album "career defining" as well as comparing it to some pretty legendary releases by other groups. A few songs have been released so far. We each share our thoughts on what's been released as well as our expectations for the new album. Other stories covered this week include KK Downing getting the green light for the upcoming Judas Priest Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame induction, Spinal Tap finally doing a sequel, and the online original music competition show by Hit Parader called 'No Cover.' In this episode, host Ken Womack and powerhouse rocker Ann Wilson go deep into Beatles songs and their influence on her own work, the high school politics of fandom, and what the Beatles taught her about gender as a young rocker. Wilson rose to fame alongside her younger sister, guitarist Nancy Wilson, as lead vocalist in the rock band Heart, the first hard rock group fronted by women. In their heyday, Heart released numerous albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including "Dreamboat Annie" and "Little Queen," and "Dog and Butterfly," which generated hit singles such as "Magic Man," "Crazy on You," "Barracuda," “Straight On” and “Dog and Butterfly.” The band later enjoyed commercial success with a trio of albums, including the self-titled "Heart," "Bad Animals" and "Brigade," along with a raft of hits such as “What about Love,” “Never,” “These Dreams,” “Nothin' At All,” “Who Will You Run To,” “Alone,” and “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You.” To date, Heart has sold over 35 million records. Over the years, Wilson has earned her place as one of rock's most vaunted singers. Known for her operatic abilities and banshee screams, she was ranked no. 78 in Hit Parader's 2006 list of Greatest Heavy Metal Vocalists of All Time. And in 2013, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Heart. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/everythingfabfour/support

Ted Asregadoo and John Young get some one-on-one time with author, Doug Brod. Doug's excellent book, "They Just Seem A Little Weird: How KISS, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, and Starz Remade Rock and Roll," tells the tale of how three out of four of these groups went from the toilet circuit to iconic stadium bands in the '70s. Doug interviewed over 135 people, dug through troves of archival information from music publications like Creem, Hit Parader, Cirus, Rolling Stone, and more to weave a story about the crazy and fun world of rock and roll -- and how these bands reshaped it.

Es conocido como The Madman (El loco), The Godfather of Heavy Metal (El padrino del heavy metal) y The Prince of Darkness (El príncipe de las tinieblas). Las canciones "Miracle Man", "Breaking All the Rules" y "Crazy Babies" fueron seleccionadas como sencillos. Además de “¨Let Me Hear You Scream”, los tracks confirmados del álbum son: “Diggin Me Down”, “Let it die”, “Soul Sucker”, “Fearless”, “I Want It All”, “Time”, “Crucify” y “I Love You All” Después del lanzamiento de Scream, Ozzy inició una gira mundial de 18 meses para promocionar su nuevo álbum. If Don Rickles were a woman with a slight weight problem and a well-documented fondness for having sex with African-American men, he'd sound an awful lot like comedienne Lisa Lampanelli, comedy's lovable queen of mean. Lampanelli studied journalism at Syracuse University and Harvard, and briefly enjoyed a successful career in the magazine industry, working at 'Popular Mechanics," "Spy Magazine," and was contributor for "Hit Parader" and "Rolling Stone." Deciding journalism was not for her, she quit and became a party DJ in 1990, entertaining partygoers via the microphone. Following a trip to a comedy club, she took a course in improvisation, which led to her first successful stand-up performances in New York City in the early 1990s. Lampanelli's real rise to fame began in 2001, where she made a stand-out appearance on Comedy Central's Friar's Club Roast of Hugh Hefner and was invited back in 2002 as the only female comedian invited to roast Chevy Chase at the New York Friars club which would air on Comedy Central. One of the few white comedians to perform on BET's comic view, she became a regular guest on Howard Stern's radio show, produced her first stand-up special, "The Queen of Mean" in 2002, and her first album, "Take it Like A Man," tied into another cable special with the same title in 2006 peaked at #6 on the comedy charts. In 2006, Lampanelli made her movie debut along side fellow comic Larry the Cable Guy in his film "Health Inspector," and issued her second album, "Dirty Girl," in early 2007, with the simultaneous release of a concert DVD featuring the same material, which reached #4 on the charts and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album of the year...culminating in being named "Maxim Magazine's" Bachelorette of the year. In 2008, she served as roastmaster for the Larry the Cable Guy Roast, and also performed at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. In 2009, Lisa published her first book, a memoir "Chocolate, Please: My Adventures in Food, Fat, and Freaks." Lampanelli's other comedy albums include "Long Live the Queen," "Tough Love," and most recently was again nominated for a Grammy Award-her second- for "Back to the Drawing Board." She was a contestant on "Celebrity Apprentice," where she raised $130,000 for gay men's health crisis.

With KISSMAS in July just around the corner, we'll be knee-deep in the Hottest Band in the Land when Independence Day rolls around but we still wanted to celebrate America's birthday. We decided to do our Patriotic duty and spin some rock songs about America this week.  Before we get down to business, we name Jay Hardman Geek of the Week for his hilarious response to a "Pick Your Poison" question on the Decibel Geek facebook fan page that pertains to some of Metallica's more "experimental" projects. Chris attended the Geoff Tate-led version of Queensryche's performance at War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville. In this review, you'll hear his thoughts on the band's performance, concert attendence (or lack thereof), and his memories of the meet & greet after the concert.  We kick off our ear-bleeding tribute to America with some love for the USA from a Canadian as Sebastian Bach performs 'American Metalhead' from 2007's Angel Down album. The Offspring are well-known for their tongue-in-cheek, silly tracks from the 90's. However, there's more to this band if you dig a little deeper. We take a listen to the title track from 1998's Americana album. Only in America would someone name themselves Jizzy Pearl. Love/Hate remains a criminally underrated gem of a band from Hollywood. We feel it our patriotic duty to give Jizzy and company their just due and spin the title track from 1992's 'Wasted in America' album. Next up is a track about America that got this British hard rock band in quite a pickle during a festival show in England. British metalheads took it upon themselves to shower Def Leppard with bottles of urine during their performance at the Reading Festival in England. We take a listen to 'Hello America' from the On Through the Night album. Before we get back tot he music, Chris reads some hilarious Letters to the Editor from a 1989 Hit Parader magazine.  Up next is another rock artist that doesn't get near enough attention from the music buying public. Lizzy Borden has been doing his shock rock show for 30 years. We take a listen to 'American Metal' from 1985's Love You to Pieces album. We go from Def Leppard telling America 'Hello' to Blackie Lawless and WASP bidding the Land of the Free adieu with 'Goodbye America' from 1995's Still Not Black Enough album.  It wouldn't be a patriotic Decibel Geek show without a little KISS. To get you primed for next month's KISSMAS festivities, we spin 'All American Man' from the studio side of Alive II. In 90 episodes (so far), we've never played anything by The Runaways. That changes this week as we take a listen to 'American Nights' from their 1976 self-titled debut album. A true transplanted American is Lemmy of Motorhead. Always a fixture of L.A.'s Rainbow, Lemmy has written a number of songs about America. We spin 'Stone Deaf in the U.S.A' from 1987's Rock n Roll album. Closing out the show is the lyrical genius of one, Alice Cooper. 1982's DaDa album has gone down in history as a piece of work that is not in Mr. Cooper's memory banks due to the high volume of alcohol consumption going on at the time. Aside from that, he had a spark of brilliance when he penned a patriotic song that extols on the joys of wonder bread, the A-team and waitresses that love to flirt. A perfect way to cap off our tribute to America.  Buy Music! Although Sean Moeller has a soft spot for barns and horses, he’s no “Iowa Farm Boy.” The man behind Daytrotter is a bearded ex-track star and ex-sports writer from the University of Iowa, who in addition to being a well mannered family man, happens to have a knack for looking into the eyes of a song, wielding his crafty word-sword, and writing incredibly colorful essays about the songs and artists from around the world who pass through the Daytrotter studio. Sean is a down to earth dude who doesn’t take himself or his talent for writing too seriously. He is a living example of his own philosophy about rock stars and famous people..telling me during the interview, he realized early that “they’re just people.” He’s just a person that sits down at the table and has breakfast with his kids, grabs a coffee, and heads out to Rock Island to record potentially the next Foster The People, Dallas Green, Charlie Pride or Naughty By Nature. It’s impossible to write about Sean Moeller without writing about Daytrotter, and that’s not discounting the man.. or the person he is, but to the contrary.. one can attribute the success of Daytrotter to Sean’s loyalty to his vision and poise; even in the presence of musical greatness. Phil, Pat Stolley, Mike Gentry and the entire team, in conjunction with Sean’s high standards that have been baked into the machine that is the Horseshack Studio; all work together in concert to sustain what we know to be the appealing web presence of Daytrotter.com. …”The thing I went to school for was to be a writer.. it’s always been my first love, so I always knew that I still wanted to write; but I wanted to write about what I wanted to write about, instead of being told..what to write about. Obviously music is a big gigantic passion of mine and it would be nice to do both.” - Sean Moeller I bet if you cornered Sean or any die-hard fan of music, you could get them to admit that music was their first love. Music is stirring and like a sensory time capsule, it carves its initials into the tree of our childhood and teen years; with each listen of our favorite song and favorite album.. dropping melodic memory bread-crumbs that today lead us back to the mile-markers of growing up. I remember being 15 making my first mix-tape; fast forward..stop..fast forward, playing and listening carefully.. auditioning every song before deeming it worthy of adding it to the carefully compiled compilation and passing it to a friend on the bus after school. Sure, once in a while you stumble on a complete album that is solid all the way through like a Pink Floyd “Animals,” “The White Album” “Purple Rain” or Nirvana’s “Nevermind,” but more often than not, lovers of music enjoy using our own sonic-art taste gauge developed over the years in our messy bedroom laboratory, to pick the cherries we like to hear, collect, and share. In 2006 I was searching online for music that would be suitable for my summer mix-tape CD and when doing a search for the band Limbeck, my eyes tripped on this website titled Daytrotter.com. The first thing I remember noticing is the hand-drawn cartoon illustrations of the bands, and I believe one of those bands was Dressy Bessy. In addition to providing recordings of live sessions featuring original songs, Daytrotter’s Johnnie Cluney, with every session, draws up illustrations or cartoon drawings of the band members which really brands the Daytrotter product and makes for an authentic bundle warranting at least… 1000+ Fonzi Points. Finding Sean Moeller’s Daytrotter.com was exciting because it was like casting out your Google-rod and reeling in exactly the fish you were hoping to catch. I started downloading every single session and making my own Best of Daytrotter September, October, Daytrotter Summer 07, Daytrotter IKEA Road-Trip Mix, etc. I can recall emailing daytrotter, feeling grateful, explaining that I couldn’t find the donation link and asking them how I can donate. I believe it was Sean Moeller who wrote me back and the email read something to the effect: We don’t really ask for donations but if you want to donate.. you can. It’s been interesting watching little Daytrotter grow into this big popular cult-source for new music and binary audio showcase for the classic artists of yesteryear. In our travels at SXSW, bands commonly reference Daytrotter and in my experience, you don’t find too many artists who haven’t done a daytrotter session or at least have a session scheduled. Sean, being a loyal Alabama fan, doesn’t like his taste in music to be limited to “indie” music, and we have a good exchange about the selective music fan/hipster conflation. Sean explains in the interview “I like all music.” “If there’s a leaning in Daytrotter towards indie music, it’s simply because indie-bands tour the most. They tour the most.. they get into a van and they drive around. ” It’s not that unusual to find a session by a Country artist or a Hip Hop Rap act, but Daytrotter, having a substantial leaning towards textbook “indie” bands, has functioned as a hunter-gatherer of appealing unusual independent music; making it easier for music junkies with eclectic taste to compile enough mixtapes to last 99 lifetimes. Daytrotter.com offers a feature for members to cherry pick their favorite session tracks and compile a virtual mixtape on line, signified by an old school cassette illustration. I continue to reference mixtapes because Daytrotter allows the 8th grade concert T-wearing nerd in all of us..to live on, and I think Sean comes from that nostalgic place and shares the spirit of that adolescent sentiment. Daytrotter fills the shoes of both the BMG Cassette Club and Hit Parader magazine, facilitating a pipeline for the consumption of new bands and new sounds bundled with all the juicy details about the weird bass player or the inspiration behind your favorite song lyric. Daytrotter also uploads their session recordings at 320kb which is very appealing to the modern day audiophile. It’s my feeling that Daytrotter is still.. merely a device to connect Sean to great music and to continue to recreate opportunities to write about what he wants to write about, and the pay-for membership is merely a device to pay the bills and continue introducing great music to the world. Much of Daytrotter comes from a place of a sentiment for vintage times and vintage things. He has a vinyl heart and I look at Daytrotter.com just as I would a friendly gesture; a regenerative artesian mixtape that Sean Moeller and the Daytrotter crew pass to me every day, on the bus of the world wide web. – jm www.daytrotter.com SESSIONS at http://www.daytrotter.com My Brightest Diamond Dawes Pearl and The Beard William Elliot Whitmore
